Ever since becoming the Wal-Mart mascot, Smileyfaceguy has been misunderstood.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: What's Missing? Episode I Padme Amidala

That would make sense. A Screen Scene with Celebration Padme, bigass Nass, and the elusive Sio Bibble. (With a corressponding Massassi Temple set featuring Leia, Luke, and Han.  ;) )

Saga '02-'04 / Padme Multi-packs?

What about a "Honeymoon Padme?"  :-*

Would it be in Hasbro's best interest to sell these figures as part of a boxed set? Most would probably amount to salt shakers, but I'd still like to see these as part of my collection even without uber-articulation. (Except for "Honeymoon Padme," of course. She needs to be pretty poseable.  ;D)

I just saw the 3.5" figures at TRU today. I'm not a fan of the show by any means, but I do like the characters. Unfortunately, I can't stand their Manga influence.

At $2.99 for a 2-pack, they certainly are affordable for a licensed product, and seem to feature more articulation than Mattel or Hasbro ever offered in their animated DC lines.

Anyone picking up these mass-market Happy Meal™ toys?

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Star Destroyer Wave
« on: April 1, 2004, 01:43 PM »
Still, I've yet to see Yavin wave here and I know they've hit this area but got picked up fast.

Keep your eyes peeled, Jesse. In what is NOT an April Fool's joke, NOT an imaginary story, my local Wal-Mart has not only put their four pegs back up, but loaded them with the Hoth wave, the Yavin wave, AND the Star Destroyer wave!

I also saw the Ultra Jabba figures at TRU. Spring is here!

Excuse me. I have to poop now.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Sci-Fi Hotties.. ONLY Sci-Fi

James Bond movies are now sci-fi ???  Since when?

Oh, I don't know, Moonraker?

Is Superman sci-fi enough? If so, I've gotta give props to Teri:

Prettiest Lois yet.

Other Toy Lines / The Passion action figures
« on: March 31, 2004, 05:05 PM »
A line of 3 3/4" action figures based on "The Passion..." would rock. Perfect filler for Easter baskets. And think of the action features.

Why Hasbro didn't jump on this license, I'll never understand. Maybe if there's a sequel.  :-\

Watto's Junk Yard / The Batmobile!
« on: March 31, 2004, 01:54 PM »
From what I've read, this is "the Tumbler," one of many experimental prototypes Wayne's company has been dabbling with in his absense. Upon his return he chastises the management for redirecting his father's company toward military purposes, then uses the non-lethal technology in his arsenal as Batman.  ;D

I can't wait to see this in action. Reportedly it does all its own stunts, requiring no CGI. Should be pretty sweet.

However, Velma in real life is almost as hot as cartoon Velma

Yeah, when Velma's hotter than Daphne, I knew something was amiss.

I was really hoping they'd have gone with someone pretty for Daphne. She was my childhood, 2-D crush. Ms. Gellar just doesn't do it for me the way a real redhead would have.

Check out this auction.

Maybe not as cool as a 3-D miniature, but a piece of motion picture history nonetheless. Perfect for Mother's Day.

My soon-to-be 3-year-old daughter loves the first movie. She insists on seeing the sequel whenever a commercial comes on. A (meathead) colleague told me his (dumbass) wife took their (halfwit) children to see it and said they enjoyed it far more than the first.

I was supremely disappointed with the first one. I had heard that the live-action Scooby would be aimed squarely at the FIRST generation of fans, in age as well as adult content, and that it would be as satirical as the Brady Bunch movie. Rumors abounded of the true ingredients of "Scooby snacks," a lesbian scene with Daphne and Velma, and a shot of Shaggy holding a sign that read "Pot for Sale," only to reveal him selling a clay pot from the back of the Mystery Machine.

Needless to say, they chose a different direction.

I asked Matthew Dillard at a licensing show if there would be any such outtakes on the DVD. He said he was hopeful since a lot of stuph got cut. It could only get better, right?

(And I found the Scooby parody from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back infinitely more satisfying.)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Pegwarmer of the Year Award
« on: March 26, 2004, 04:20 PM »
Zutton's got my nomination for Pegwarmer of the Decade, Jesse. My TRU has two pegs loaded with him. And it's a SIN to have army-builders just sit. Where are all those SA Clone Troopers or McQuarrie Stormies?

Wal-Mart has NOTHING-- still. Not even pegs.

Target has had Ack-Meh Blech for some time.

KMart has Saga Watto.

(And don't get me started on Kay-Bee...)

Anyone who knows the Jesse/Cole link gets a free handshake if they ever meet me too.

Is Cole your YOUNGER brother?  ;)
