Thank you, Master Phruby, for saving me the time of posting my own version of the modified Death Star Droid. I did the same thing and, in my collection, it holds the spot of the definitive modern counterpart to the vintage figure. Which is kinda sad when you think of it.

Random Thoughts:

- You used that as a source image but failed to give an honorable mention to this guy?  ;)

- Han Solo on a "Revenge of the Sith" stand?  :P

- Yeah, not a lot of debate about this choice. For the moment, this figure sets the bar for ALL figures in this scale. Any company looking to get into the 3 3/4" arena would do well to study this guy. (Playmates, I'm looking at you.)

The official heights for certain characters from Lucas Licensing go like this:

Threepio - 5' 6"
Luke - 5' 8"
Vader, Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, Han Solo - 6' 0"

If you're trying to gauge Garrick Hagon's height, here's a picture of him with Jeremy Bulloch and Dave Prowse. I'd say he may be an inch taller than Mark Hamill (who's 5' 8" or 5' 9") but that's it.

By the way, I just bought this Battlepack Luke figure for the definitive, ANH-styled Artoo-Detoo. I used a $5 off coupon courtesy of PlaySaver.com which helped take the sting off. The table accessory is a nice touch but after reviewing Luke, he'll be retiring another figure. I agree with Scott; this one has a little bit of everything to make it the best contemporary update of Vintage Tatooine Luke yet.

2018 is when the current (and unusually long) contract agreement runs out. Given the successful relationship between Hasbro and Lucasfilm as well as the promise of another animated series and a live-action TV series on the horizon, I have little doubt that both parties will want to renew to contract.

I'll echo what others have already stated; this is a great feature. (It's actually dragging me back into a Star Wars message board for the first time in a long while.)

This is particularly interesting to me since my very first Star Wars figure was Chewbacca. He was all alone on a peg at Fay's Drugs in February 1978. My mother and I were shopping for Valentines and when I showed him to her, she had to buy it for me. She'd been terribly disappointed she couldn't find any Star Wars toys for Christmas. ("All they had was this piece of cardboard so I got you Micronauts instead.")

I've been slowly replacing older incarnations of certain figures with what I consider to be "definitive" versions. I've been retiring quite a few figures lately as more and more get upgraded. Chewie is a great example. Nothing could ever replace my Vintage Chewbacca but it's fun to see him succeeded so well. Now if only he had slicked back hair and an open mouth.  ;)

There's another sneak peek of resin models over at the Palisades boards. They're not painted, but the poses illustrate how awesome the articulation will be. The bullet-ridden T-1000 looks particularly sweet.

Now that this line won't be blind boxed, I'm totally buying into this line.  ;D

Nevermind. It's only 10" tall. And at $200 and 14 lbs, I'll wait to see if McFarlane offers one at $25.

As I recall, the original Alien was pretty tall. I'm guessing around the 7-foot range. Considering the performer's face was in the creature's neck and the Alien head was on top of that, I'd say it might even have been taller. (I'll have to dig through my olde Starlog magazines for pics.)

The Aliens in the second movie were so abundant, "normal" sized actors were used. I attribute the difference in sizes due to the hosts; if the Alien in the first movie was a result of the huge Space Jockey, naturally it would be bigger. Likewise offspring of human hosts would take on more human characteristics, including height.

The only PURE Alien might be the Queen, but even she probably underwent some creative license here and there.

Let's just say that these figures ROCK next to Hasbro's Star Wars line.  ;D

And speaking of the Space Jockey, wasn't a statue made of that thing? I wonder if it was close to 1:18 scale.  ;)
