Title: Where to buy vintage repro guns?
Post by: Phrubruh on May 8, 2008, 10:41 AM
I'm currently trying to rearm my vintage figures and I'm looking for a good online source of reproduction weapons. Any ideas besides bidding on ebay lots?

Brians Toys used to have weapons lots.

I've been doing the vintage thing for a while now (3-5 years) and haven't really found a reliable source at prices I want.  Honestly if I end up with something that's a repro or a figure without, I usually end up looking for a beat up figure that comes with the weapon I'm after.  Prices are usually the same as getting the weapon anyway and weapon lots on ebay often go nutty.  Earthtoymall if it's still around is another resource, as is Cloudcitycollectibles in addition to Brian's toys.

CC isn't really around anymore, at least as far as a regular store is concerned.  It's now an eBay store and I think (not 100% sure though) that it was bought by Brian's Toys.  The Earth is definately good to go.  I've bought several things through them over the years and they are still in business, although soon they are closing their store front and going to an internet only business.

Reproduction weapons! Yuck! I would take those things & burn them but if you want them & are happy with them then that is your choice. I have few but only to tell the difference between the original & fakes.

I have never delt with this place but maybe they have something you are looking for.

Thanks for the places to check. I'm a loose vintage collector from the very beginning and really don't care if an accessory is repro or not. I see it as completing the figure for display. If I found one good copy or the original of an accessory, I can usually cast it myself.

Anyone know a good source to buy vintage 12" weapons and accessories?  I'm in need of weapons for Darth, 2x Stormtroopers, IG88, Luke, Leia, and possibly Han as well.   :P

Check The Earth Toy Mall as well for 12" figure accessories. I'm not sure if there is a lot in stock now, but it's worth a shot...plus the folks that work there are top notch.

I CAN'T BELIEVE Brian's Toys is selling repro parts now! >:( WTF? It's bad enough when ebayers pass them off as authentic, but now BT is adding to the mess? Plus he's selling the repros for about the same price that I sell the real deal for when I get them in. Unbelievable. :'(
