I'm sorry if this has been posted another time, I took a quick glance and didn't see anything recent, so I thought I'd start a thread. My question is, who is your favorite character in this Star Wars world we all enjoy so much? If you have troubles narrowing it down to one, list as many as you want, rank them in your preference, whatever you want to do. I just thought it might be interesting to see everyone's favorites. Mine are probably not all that "original", but here's my favorites:
1. Han Solo (all-time favorite, my fave as a kid, and it continues today)
2. Yoda (really close to my overall favorite, Attack of the Clones made him even cooler in my opinion)
3. Chewbacca (gotta like the Wookiee, plus, he's Han's homeboy) :P
Honorable mention to Luke (particularly in Jedi, I remember thinking he was pretty cool when I was a kid), as well as Boba Fett (not ultra original I know, but come on, he is pretty cool-looking) :)
-
Main character: Chewbacca. I don't know why. Maybe its because I always thought it would be cool to have a 7' tall hairy bodyguard who was good at chess and ripping droid's arms out of sockets. Brains and brawn :-*
Fav alien species: other than wookiees, Gamorrean Guards. Again I have no idea why, just because.

Han Solo! He could rescue me any day.

Oh, it really bugs me when I agree with you. In case he changes the pic to mock me, I say Lord Vader. I didn't even cheer when his ship spun out of control when I was 13.
-
Here are my five favorites in order.
#1 - Jar Jar Binks
#2 - C-3P0
#3 - Darth Vader
#4 - Tusken Raiders
#5 - Darth Maul
-
Yoda all the way for me although his whole fight scene in AOTC sorta of knocked down a few pegs from his really lofty perch
Second would be Jabba, I loved the big tub o' goo since he first came on screen
Third is Luke. Never been a huge Han fan and not really sure why people like him more than the true hero of the Saga. Luke rules and is really underappreciated IMO

3. Boba Fett

My favorite character was Obi-Wan, but as the prequels progress, Lucas seems to be making him two-faced.
So I'm going to go with Luke and R2-D2, especially R2. That little droid can get you out of anything.

From a guy who likes Ewoks, you pick him? :-*
For me, it would be Han Solo.

Hmmm, tough really. I will go with the following for today.
1 Luke
2 Han Solo
3 Darth Vader
4 Yoda
5 Chewbacca
-
If we're just basing these on the movies this would be my order.
1) Han Solo
2) Darth Vader
3) Obi-Wan Kenobi (especially now with the prequals)
4) Yoda
If we want to include books too, then Darth Maul would be right between Obi-Wan and Yoda.

Older topic, just thought I'd bring it up if there were any new/changing opinions. Favorite character(s) from the Saga....originals, prequels, both, whatever.
1 and 1a. Han Solo and Chewbacca (kind of hand in hand with me. My favorites above all others)
2. Yoda (although seeing him with a lightsaber was cool, the teacher Yoda from the OT is my favorite)
3. Luke (as posted earlier by Scott in this thread, an under-appreciated character in many respects)
4. The Rest (really vague, but I find I have a spot for the majority of the OT characters...specifically Vader, the droids, Fett, Obi-Wan, Lando, Leia, Palpatine, Jabba, etc.)
5. Prequel Characters - Chewie will be showing up soon, so he'll probably be first....otherwise, Obi-Wan. I really think Ewan McGregor's character is one of the bright spots of the prequels. Some of the other characters/designs are nice though too. Nice to see all the different Jedi, always kind of liked Plo Koon, although he hasn't done much :).
There are a lot of characters that are good, just have cool designs and no lines in particular, so this list could be pretty extensive for me. Limiting it somewhat, those would be my choices.
-
Anakin Skywalker.
Kevin
-
Luke
Young Obi-Wan
Qui-Gon
Those are my top 3.
I have a Jedi fetish.
Never been a fan of Han's....

I was looking through some older threads today, and thought I'd bump this one up now that the movies are all done and new television/EU stuff is on the way. With the hype now gone from the prequel movies, have any of your lists changed at all? I like a lot of the characters in SW, but if I listed the top few, it goes like this with me:
1. Han Solo (Just my favorite overall, and I couldn't picture anyone but Harrison Ford in this role)
2. Chewbacca (Han's sidekick, and I think the character has always appealed to me growing up because I always had a faithful dog at my side - kind of like Chewie)
3. Luke Skywalker (Scott made a good point early in this thread about him being under-appreciated. To be honest, when I was a kid, I think I "pretended" to be Luke more than anyone else)
4. Yoda (as cool as the concept of seeing him "in action" in AOTC/ROTS, the OT incarnation of Yoda is my favorite overall I think)
5. Obi-Wan Kenobi (another under-rated character in some ways. I like both portrayals - Ewan McGregor/PT and Sir Alec Guiness/OT)
Those are my favorite of the fleshed out characters, although I really like them all. The droids, Leia, Vader, Lando, etc. could easily be on this list as well. Plus, some of the lesser-used characters like Qui-Gon, Maul, Fett(s), Jedi, etc. are very cool.
-
In order Darth Sidious, Anakin/Vader(but not in ep1), Solo, Count Dooku, Maul
-
1. Chewbacca - all the way back to my youth, he's been my favorite. A big faithful, loveable furball. What's not to love?
2. Lando Calrissian - put up against the wall he made a mistake but in the end he regretted it and righted his wrongs. I can relate to that...
3. Han Solo - the James Dean of the SW universe...
I also really like the Stormtroopers and the Ewoks but they don't really have much "character" to them...
I never really cared for Luke or Vader which is funny seeing as the whole damn saga is about them...
-
I also really like...... the Ewoks but they don't really have much "character" to them...
No more hot wheels for you >:(
-
Though not really "characters" per se, Stormtroopers have always been my favorite. Yeah, shocking, I know. :-*
As for an actual character, I'd say that A New Hope Luke was my favorite. He had naivete, innocence and strength, plus his face hadn't yet been battered to an unrecognizable pulp by a windshield Wampa.
-

No more hot wheels for you >:(
I'm a huge Ewok lover, check the avatar! :) You didn't get to know much about them other than they put up a hell of a fight and can party their asses off which I totally respect. (http://www.moviemaniacs.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_thumb.gif)

the Ewoks but they don't really have much "character" to them...
*finger hovers over the 'BAN!' button*
-
but...how could they be your favorite... all they do is hop around with spears say' boogida, boogida, yubb yubb' and get blasted?
--well, I guess they do make cool death scenes :-\
-
I'll show you abuse of power.
>:(

Wha..? Hasbro thought Dying Ewoks was funny at the SDCC panel last year ???

1. Leia -- she has always been my favorite. I guess because I was able to identify with her growing up. I loved the fact that she was a strong female, as opposed to a typical "damsel in distress".
2. Han -- pretty much anything he did and said was cool. Who else could have gotten away with the "I know" line?
In no particular order:
Luke -- it didn't bother me how whiny he was until ROTJ -- then it started to get on my nerves a bit. But he's still my favorite innocent farmboy turned hero.
Obi-Wan -- I like the mentor aspect of the OT Obi-Wan, but Ewan's portrayal of the PT Obi-Wan helps to make him my favorite Jedi. Even though he's flawed, he represents what's best about the Order.
Vader -- Best. Villain. Ever.
ESB Yoda -- I thought this was Yoda at his best -- training Luke.

Unlike the others, I like how you explained yourself on why you picked those 5- very enlightening and refreshing.

Chewbacca will always be my favorite. He was a chicken in the trash compactor scene, yet followed Han to face the stormtroopers in the Death Star escape. He was loyal and funny and furry-what's not to love???
I also like Princess Leia, especially in A New Hope. She was pretty much the boss in ESB (with a soft spot shown for Han) and then got her bitch-back-on when she choked Jabba in ROTJ (I like to forget the "just hold me" crap toward the end of ROTJ).
Honorable Mention: Luke from ROTJ when he pissed off the Emperor and tossed his lightasber aside and both Obi-Wan's - just because I loved the cantina scene with Ben and the duel with Anakin.
-
Honorable Mention: Luke from ROTJ when he pissed off the Emperor and tossed his lightasber aside
I must say -- that was the moment in ROTJ when my faith in Luke's backbone was restored -- or when he finally got his bitch on (not "back" on, 'cause I don't think he ever really had it on in the first place).
-
1) Han Solo
2) Darth Vader
3) Obi-Wan Kenobi (especially now with the prequals)
4) Yoda

5) Chewbacca
