Saga Collection '06 / Re: Figure Release Scedule?
« on: March 29, 2006, 05:20 AM »
10 every two months sounds good...  5 a month is a bit much for me, especially given the asinine distribution in my area.  I will say that I think the last quarter of a year, maybe the last 2 months, I dunno, should be spent refreshing the pegs...  I just am really disappointed that stuff's out then gone...

OTC and POTJ were handled much better for distribution than what we're seeing right now.  Those lines I saw every figure mutltiple times...  Just seemed much better than what we're seeing right now...  Unless it's the increased residual popularity of 2005 carrying over, I dunno...  Stuff just seems much more difficult to find right now, and really since about October-ish of last year it's been this way.

Bastards.  :)

Good score though, I saw someone with 15 loose ones...  My god what a glorious photo.

I can't wait for this figure...  It's simply perfect...  or as close to such as is humanly possible for Hasbro.

I'm really hoping that, with only one wave, that the VTSC are pretty abundant and easy to find...  I reiterate early sentiments that we need a second refresher with the army builders outnumbering Han, Luke, and let's just leave Greedo off the next case. ;)

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: aeseven's holding out on us...

That's pretty nice aeseven...  The packaging too is very nice though my packaging knowledge is limited at best.

The paints are intriguing on this one, what brand did you use to pull off the aged metal look on some of his bits and pieces?  I can recognize some of the parts you used but only slightly...  Everything's pretty well hidden and tough to discern what is what on him.  Very nicely put together figure.

Inside word is that his cousin is the one behind the takeover.

Don't tell anyone.

Zing!

I actually didn't visit SSG much over the years after I moved on to CSW and started actually posting on a forum...  I didn't get active at SSG's community, just read stuff.  The site had declined a bit in content I felt, but still it was something "there" that I was surprised to see just up and capsize like this...  Oh well, it's bound to happen really...  I'm not sure that starting a NEW place up is a great idea...  It's a lot of work and of course he knows that himself, it just seems not worth starting from scratch here in with the line on the decline ultimately...  Whatever though.

Got this mail...

I am sad to say that due to irreconcilable differences between myself and ACTION Online (who hosts and owns the domain), I have to part with my own creation, "SirStevesGuide.com". I started the site back in 1995 as a collector and joined with ACTION Online in 1999, who now owns all the rights to it (it was the best decision at the time to keep the site going). SirStevesGuide.com has always been a team effort from fellow collectors, the staff, the mods and I appreciate all the support I have received over the years. This is not the end of "SirSteve", just the end of me running "SirStevesGuide.com". I will be starting a new site devoted to everything Action Figures and Collectibles rather than just Star Wars and run by collectors, for collectors. I have no idea what is to become of the domain "SirStevesGuide.com" or who will be running it (if anyone). I know I have not been the most active "forum" user but maintaining the site takes a lot of time. I have done everything from the graphics, web design, content, photography and so on which take a great deal of time. That's why I have trusted staff members to take care of the forums. I hate for it to come down like this but it will be for the best in the end. I have met a lot of great people while doing this and I would not trade it for anything.

So one of the older sites bites the dust...  "SirSteve" starting something new then...  That's gotta suck being overtaken by another site and it not going how you wish...  Sounds somewhat familiar though doesn't it?  *cough*CSW/RS*cough*

SSG was one of the first sites I visited many moons ago before I posted online...  Then CSW I finally opened up and started talking.  I'm not sentimental about SSG's demise, I just thought it was somewhat interesting.  I can't imagine it'll stay open so I'm assuming it'll go kaput here.

Times are a changin'...

I'm trying to keep an eye out for UGH stuff for local collectors...  I figure it's the least bit of payback I can do to the group that's helped me a lot, and it's a good thing for everyone in an organized local collecting group I think.

I haven't seen any of the chases myself though...  Been pretty dry on regular stuff so the chase stuff I imagine is even less likely to show.  I did score the Titanium Chase Figs for my one friend.  He got me Scorch so I figure it's a good way to pay him back. :)  I've seen those a couple times though.  I wonder if it's price or if they're just more available?

Mitsu,

Generally when things start popping up on Ebay, especially in Asia, you're looking at a month or so out before they're in the states...  Just a general round-about answer to your question.

They could be here pretty soon then...  They've been surfacing now for a little bit, so that means they're on the boats and maybe in the ports by now...  Get through customs, to distribution centers and out to stores.

VTSC isn't to be limited by anyone's estimation.  All retailers carrying Star Wars routinely are supposedly to be carrying VTSC...  KB, K-Mart, Target, TRU, Wal-Mart, and any of those goofy assed stores I've never heard of but which are in abundance elsewhere from where I live. :)

Hey Babyjawa...  Welcome aboard.

You'll be surprised that most of us aren't active on Rebelscum...  Some are though.  I think you'll find more in the customizing community than out in our other topics.

Check out the site, look around...  Feel free to jump into conversation.  And of course, welcome aboard JediDefender.com, we're glad you came by to check things out here. :)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:10 PM »
If you want Evoulutions packaging, I have lots of it to sell. ;)  I was hoping some packaging customizers would pick it up but no takers yet.

I do like the packages too.  I display them and VOTC packages...  I'm not much for the cardboard stuff but I figured I paid for it so I'm showing it off.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: I got 35 clone troopers
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:08 PM »
The articulation is ok besides his legs...  The legs are a deal breaker for me though.  A figure I'd have bought 12 of is now easily one that I won't want more than 2 of and one's for customizing.  Between Scorch and Sora Bulq that wave was a big letdown to me...

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: PM limit
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:03 PM »
That's a good question Brent...

I've never reached my limit, but I've never had more than 2 pages of PM's too at any given time here so I'm probably a bad judge.  I think we have a fairly high limit as compared to some other places but I'm not positive.  One of the more knowledgeable guys on this will answer this for you asap.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Coruscant Wave
« on: March 28, 2006, 03:24 AM »
I combined it with this one Ook...  Just a merger.  Topics got changed just to limit confusion.

BTW try boiling the helmet/head or running it under some hot water and take a pair of needlenose pliars and tug the head out gently.  Should come right out...  May not even need to run it under hot water, but it'd maybe help.  You may want to cover the ends of the pliars with bits of napkin or some such too, to just not leave marks on the head or whatever.

I wouldn't doubt that actually.  The rigid helmet could easily cause that problem...  I've never been unhappy with the flimsy helmets.  Hasbro used a better plastic on helmets that needed it like Captain Antilles nicely done Fleet Trooper helmet, but like the Evolutions Clone helmet seemed ok to me (both or all 3 of them actually).  A rigid Cody helmet isn't bad, but gotta be careful like was said...  paint wear and head's getting lodged in there could be a big issue to come.

Star Wars Universe / Re: Clone Wars = Canon or EU?
« on: March 28, 2006, 01:48 AM »
The thing is, the novelizations have no bearing on the films...  They too, are simply EU material...  They expand on things sometimes and don't always conflict with the films but some points do conflict...  Those I tend to just ignore...  The rest of the novelizations I always enjoy as an expansion then simply, but they too are EU.  Even the ANH Novelization I've heard was ghost written and Lucas didn't actually even write it.

Lucasfilm's official stance has been that the films are canon, the rest is all just this ever-expanding continuity or whatever...  From what I've heard of that, it's because Lucas likes control and to overturn whatever he wants when he wants...  But to also still capitalize on his property however he can too. ;)

Works for me then...  It makes discussion simpler really since it adds a lot of viewpoints and possibilities...  It opens up fan imaginations/interpretations more, whereas other properties I guess force their "EU" on you...  Irregardless of who made it and how good (or bad) it is.
