I NEED that Vader head one and the Hoth one.  Those are sweet, thanks again for pointing those out. :)  That Vader head one is simply too iconic not to have on the display shelf.

Very nice...  It gives an idea of what kind of space you're gonna need if a scale Falcon is in your future at any point too.  ;)

Here's my list Scott...  I'm hopefully remembering what I wanted before and what's getting made now. :)

1)  Super Articulated Rebel Fleet Trooper...  SA, removable helmet, working holster, removable vest...  The works.  I'm ok with no ankle joints if he has neutral posed feet, other than that, I want perfection god dammit.

2)  LN Mining Droid...  Long time coming, and one I've forgotten in the past.

3)  Garouf Lafoe (Cantina Snitch)...  I want a human from the Cantina other than a main character and Wuher.  I want the snitch who rats on Ben for cutting down the thugs.

4)  Super Articulated Death Star Trooper...  Long time coming for this one, like the Fleet Trooper.  I'd be ok if they even re-used teh POTF2 head and helmet, but they need SA for this great army builder.  A grey uniformed variant would be quite nice.

5)  Grand Moff Tarkin Resculpt...  The good leader of the New Order needs redone I think to really do justice to one of the original trilogy's greatest characters, and a great actor too.  If he could sit and came with his chair from the Death Star table, that would be really nice.

6)  Bom Vimdin...  The alien I want the most from the Cantina.  I love this guy, he's such a freak.

7)  Chief Bast...  Removable hat, nicely articulated...  He'd be the perfect start to making generic Imperial Officers that Hasbro could repaint and rerelease into the line as new guys.  Veers and others don't cut it, but they could always just do a single new sculpt that has great articulation and keep moving it out the door to army builders en masse.

8 )  Biggs Darklighter (Rebel Pilot)...  While I want him in his academy uniform, I think this is an opportunity for Hasbro to make a great highly articulated Rebel Pilot in an "average" height sculpt.  Dutch is too tall, Luke's too small, so Biggs needs resculpted anyway pretty badly and could be the template for the future pilot resculpts.  One sculpt, new heads, Hasbro saves and we get good poseable pilots of all kinds throughout the line if they'd do this intelligently.

9)  Han Stormtrooper (Super articulated)...  Name says it all.

10) Luke Stormtrooper (Super articulated)...  Ditto.

If all non-SA figures had a standard of 12 points of articulation (2 shoulder joints, 2 angle-cut elbow joints, 2 wrist joints, 2 hip joints, 2 ball/socket knee joints, a neck joint and a waist joint) I'd be perfectly happy with all the non-SA figures listed above.  Everyone, in 2006, should have that kind of articulation as a minimum at this point unless something obstructs the knees like a long skirt or robe piece...  Otherwise the skirt extension should be flexible enough to move with the figure like on Jedi.

Hasbro does that list up and man my ANH wants would be covered for this film really.  There's other stuff I'd like, but not enough to really be upset if it didn't get made.  Stuff on this list is a necessity to me though, especially the army builder figures listed.

I'm thankful, at least, it's nothing more than this, but I'm still irked.  THis is gonna just bring outsiders into the hobby more than normal...  It means figures will be lying on the floor more often than they usually do (I find that Hot Wheels is usually a mess of crap on the floor while Star Wars only SOMETIMES is).  There will inevitably be people pulling figures down to look at the mini and not put stuff back.  I hate that.

Tack onto that though the simple fact MORE people we don't really care to deal with are gonna jump in...  It'd be great if it blew up in their face somehow and everything was easy to find, even chases, but I have a hard time believing that would happen.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Coruscant Wave
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:46 PM »
Our WM's are dead out here yet in Pittsburgh.  One store hasn't had a figure on the pegs since its initial couple shipments of Hoth Wave.  Not one figure.  Sad.

-Hermi Odle...  Let's face it, a big turd eating apples is boring but I want one.

-Garrouf Lafoe...  The human snitch in the Cantina.  I want this figure so badly because it's dull, but the Cantina gets no human love.  I want this and Yerka Mig NOW.

-Yerka Mig...  See above.  Dull Cantina human, I love it.

-ICMG...  I want it, I'd gladly buy it.  Bespin gets no love.

-Hoth Rebel Technician...  Dull, but an army builder nonetheless.  You don't see many US Army Engineer figures made eihter but they're there, so I want my Hoth Rebel Technician.

-Yavin/Home One Rebel Technician...  Same guy, in his non-cold gear with his standard Rebel helmet (no neck guard).  I'd buy this and the Hoth techie in droves.

-Rebel Petty Officer...  Brownish-green uniform with ballcap (w/Rebel diamond logo on it)...  If you can tell me who the hell these guys are or where they are you get a net cookie.  They're in two films too.  Again, another army builder I'd buy in droves, and to me no different than buying Ozzel, Jerjerrod, Piett, or Veers really.

-Cantina Dude...  Bossk with a helmet basically.  Boring and I want one.

-Frozec...  Another human thug from someplace obscure.  I'd buy him, and the guy that shoots Luke's hand, and the guy in the Russian Winter hat that mounts a deck gun to Jabba's barge to fire at the skiff...  I love human weirdoes in weird bars and hangouts.  It's why I go out on weekends, so why not want action figures of these maroons?

-Beru, Owen, & Cleig Lars...  Any version from any film of these 3 figures is welcomed to me.  ALl boring, all worthy.

-Imperial Techs...  Grey jumpsuited guys with black and dark grey hats.  I'd be happy with a repaint of the POTJ sculpt of the Impy Officer even, but it'd be nice if it had new legs or used a more poseable set.

-Biggs Academy Uniform...  Boring, but tons of people want that figure.  I'm sorta shocked it didn't make the Fan's Choice honestly.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Bonus Mini Hologram Figures
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:35 PM »
I'd say I agree with that too.

If they're going to pack-in holographic miniature figures, they need to act as an accessory, not just another sub-sub-sub-line of crap.  Vader should be posed, hands on his hips, and neutral.  Perfect for Veers...

Obi-Wan should be posed neutral for talking to the council, etc...

I want a complete set of these, as I like to have one full set of all pack-ins, but these things are pretty dumb to me personally.  Tack onto them the fact that the figures are plastic, cost something to tool up and produce...  To me they're an expense above and beyond Commtech chips (The chips used one design, thus fewer molds), they certainly don't cost what Freezeframse, Force Files, or other little gimmicks cost in the past then of course.  Give me less crud like htis, and instead put knee joints on figures that could use it to make them better toys...

BTW, I still haven't seen Yoda...  Anyone got one they wanna get rid of? :)  I want to be done with these silly little things.

I agree, Sun Fac's an amazing army builder figure.  I've got 4 so far, I want dozens more, literally.  Both a pike and blaster, articulation that is about as good as it gets for a character of this nature (knees could've been done, but considering his physiology the ankles are pretty useful too).  I love this figure.  The eye scar is annoying but I haven't even altered mine.  I'm happy as-is right now.

I'm going to maybe alter some as I get more though and paint on an eye...  Like Ithorian Clergy said, a little scraping and voila...  The eye is just extra if you feel like it, but I can't hardly even see the eye Hasbro painted without straining my own. :)

It's a great figure though.  I applaud it as probably the best in this wave.  Definitely far more than what Scorch is despite his popularity right now.  That figure's legs kill it but Sun Fac's pretty good overall.

I wish there were extra back spines for the holes where his wings are.  You could then pop the wings off (why do I picture the psycho kid we all knew in childhood who tortured flies?), and plug in the spikes.  Instant non-flying Geo!  :)

Did I mention, I love this figure?

Since our WM stores have literally nothing on the pegs, nothing has changed either, but our Target stores are $5.89 yet.  I'm happy with that.

« on: March 20, 2006, 09:21 PM »
Kit's skirt is what I was referring to.  Perfectly fine figure otherwise, and I'd buy it again with a softgoods skirt if Hasbro were inclined to do that.  A nicer paintjob wouldn't hurt it either, but yeah his skirt is stiff...

Obi Pilot's is cut and made of a better plastic for flexibility.  Irony is that Hasbro doesn't always use flexible plastic for skirt pieces when they should (for poseability, not just sitting in a fighter even), while they use overly flexible plastic in weapons when they shouldn't (Amanaman's staff in need of viagara anyone?).

A lot list Rebel Trooper (Hoth), and I always wonder...  Would you want the brown vested guys, or would you want a true white uniformed Hoth Rebel soldier?  Me I'd want the true film-accurate Hoth Rebel over the brown vested Officers/Crewmen.   :-\  Especially in a VOTC format where articulation is going to be unreal on it.

17817
Yeah if they're out in abundance, there's some more of many that I'd not mind having.  Clone Troopers and Pilots come to mind.

Honestly, I find I'm the kind of guy that, if I'm in the store and have $5-$7 on me, I'll pick up a figure...  For instance a WM opened right near my girl's place and we're up there allt he time...  They're the only Wal-Mart I have seen with the Japanese and Operation Market Garden military figures I collect...  They're not REALLY interesting areas for me to buy up figures on though, but I find that when I'm in the store I buy a Japanese Infantry guy, or a OMG Rifleman every time I'm there...  They haven't had Star Wars at all there, so I can't buy a Republic Commando, or a Clone of any kind...  Can't even buy a Derlin or Bib Fortuna if I had an inclination to do so, but the military figure analogy is the same to me.

So if I walked in and they have a wall of this HOF wave, I'd pick up a Clone Pilot, sure.  I loved teh black EU pilot, and the grey one too.  I'd buy more troopers...  I'd consider picking up Obi for the customizing potential.

Certain things should just be there to buy...  Stormtroopers for instance.  If the VOTC figure were out there routinely, I guarantee I'd buy one, two, maybe 3 every time I saw them even if they were in massive abundance.  I'd surely do big lay-aways of them too just because they were there and I could.  The military lines I buy have been doing better about things like that, so thus I buy more that way I think.  Their distribution, sadly, surpassed Hasbro this year...  That's a day I didn't think I'd ever see given their horrid distribution in the past and Hasbro generally putting stuff out there.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Pure sacrilege - wip
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:06 PM »
sacrilege perhaps Paul, but the Scorch figure sucked enough ass below the waist that it needs done.  I look forward to this one.  The Microman body is gonna lend itself better to this project I think...  The poseability is cool and the armor should help conceal it some whereas on bare skin it's a little different looking for my tastes.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wal-Mart "Early Bird" Exclusive

Good to hear people still getting their figures Spuffy.

The Chewbacca is my favorite...  the others left me feeling like the set was a waste, maybe Leia was passable, but Chewbacca was reallly a fantastic figure.  Proof Hasbro can put out the VOTC Chewie with new heads just to make a great new Chewbacca and save lots of $$$ on the toolings/start-up costs to do a NEW figure.

Stuff like that makes me wonder why they didn't just use the VOTC Chewie as the ROTS figure.  Put a new head on it, new paintjob, and voila.  Action features are nice for kids I guess, but articulation gets kids attention too...  Skip the complexity of the feature, and save a buck by putting out the super artiuclated figure again.  No fuss, no muss.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:00 PM »
For me, I'd go with this for a Luke Evolutions:

-ANH Farmboy Luke...  While he has a lot of figures, he hasn't got a defnitive version of himself in that outfit.  Considering the importance of Luke in his farmboy clothes I think that's a sorely missing item in the line.   His extras could include a (good) removable Stormtrooper belt w/grappling hook, stormie blaster, blastshield helmet, saber (clips to his belt), and softgoods poncho w/floppy hat.  Lot of that stuff they already have sculpted, save for a good stormie belt really.

-ESB (gets harder to choose here) Bespin Luke...  Luke spends most time in his ground pilot uniform, so it's my choice for an iconic "growth" of Luke look.  Include a removable belt/holster, and if Hasbro wanted to get creative, I think they could pull of a removable Bespin Jacket.  It would cover Luke on Dagobah AND Luke on Bespin.  While some may not like that, I think that they could do it right and it'd look pretty spiffy to me.  Include a saber (hooks to belt), blaster pistol...  Removable hand for Bespin, of course...  If they wanted to get really really really creative, a "damaged" head would be cool for his battered and bruised look on Bespin.

-ROTJ Luke...  Personally I'd like superarticulated Luke with a removable softgoods vest.  Underneath that he'd be in his Death Star duel duds (if they could make the chest flap a "heat/cold activated decal" like the damage on Stormtroopers, that'd be simply amazing).  Pack in, obviously, his saber and a softgoods vest w/Endor helmet and that'd be Luke for all seasons in ROTJ really.

I'm amazed, at this point in the line, that a truly great DS Duel Luke doesn't exist, same with Bespin Luke who has had some pretty half-hearted efforts in my opinion.  For that matter, Hoth Luke's been short-changed a bit despite a number of versions of that figure made.
