Title: Series 10
Post by: BrentS on January 23, 2008, 03:38 PM
So now that Series 9 is officially announced, let the speculation for Series 10 begin.

I am Sith and I have been discussing this at work.

Here's my best guess (based on his input too):

Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Clone Trooper
Captain Tarrful
General Greivous
Padme Skywalker

Possible chases include, Sith Eyes Anakin, Mace Windu, Commander Cody, Galactic Marine

Other chases we discussed were Bail Organa, Grievous' Body Guard and Crispy Anakin...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mace in the regular release list, and I hope they find a place to Kit Fisto or some other unique jedi (Luminara maybe?)

If Mace isnt a chase figure in either 8 or 9, then i think he will be a regular figure in 10.

A Grievous Kubrick would be the best!

A red senate robe Emperor Palpatine would be cool as a chase figure - maybe as an alternate to a Senate Duel Palpy  :)

I hope its Episode III just so they go on to the OT again, as far as what:

Obi-Wan Kenobi
Anakin Skywalker
General Grievous
Emperor Palpatine (Duel)
Mace Windu
Clone Commander

There are two Prequel Box Sets I would absolutely love to see:

Jedi

Ki Adi Mundi
Saesee Tiin
Plo Koon
Agen Kolar/Eeth Koth
Aayla Secura

Clone Commanders

Commander Gree
Commander Cody
Commander Bacara
Commander Bly
Commander Neyo

I know we have the speeder sets and we are getting maul speeder as well this year but what are the chances we could get a full sized vehicle such as an X-wing?

Lord, I hope they never do a Jedi or Clone Commander Box Set.  The aftermarket price on those would be insane!  I'd much rather see them come out as regular releases over the next year or two.

My guess for an Episode III series 10:

Anakin
Obi-Wan
Palpatine with either two heads or a reversible head so we can have pre & post transformation
General Grievous
Ep III Clonetrooper
Pregnant Padme (C'mon...who doesn't want a pregnant Kubrick???!!!)

Chases:

501st Clonetrooper
Grievous' Bodyguard
Bail Organa

I'd like to see a few Clone Commanders in this set.  Maybe even a Shocktrooper or 501st Trooper too.

Series 10!

Clone, Ep3 Vader, Anakin, Palpy, Grievous, and Tarfful!

These look fantastic, although I agree that I don't think we really need to revisit Vader or Palpatine...
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: Dan on June 20, 2008, 05:02 PM
I'm not super excited about Palpy or Darth, but it is hard to argue since the movie revolves around their becoming the new sith duo.

Grievous is fantastic!

Tarful is mighty cool looking, but a generic wookie in a couple of flavors (like the sandtroopers in series 2) with a Tarful chase would have been a nice way to get a few wookies in the line and fill out the box. As it stands, the clone is the only one to get in multiples.

This definatley leaves Jedi open as chase figures

I am digging this set.  I am with you guys that I would have preferred an Ep3 Obi-Wan in place of Palpatine or Vader, but I'm still all over this series.  :)

Very cool.  I agree with the others before me that have said we didn't need another Vader and Palpy, but oh well.  I would have liked to see Palpy in a different robe at least like when he addresses the Senate...

Anyway, BrentS and I had 4 of the 6 in our guesses (Clone, Anakin, Grievous and Tarful).  Here's to hoping some of our chases pan out...
Title: Re: Series 10

I totally agree with you on this one.  In general I've been disappointed by the lack of Jedi.  With only a few chase slots left, I hope we get Ki-Adi, Kit, Aayla, Shaak Ti and Plo Koon in some fashion.

Still no Mace :-[  I'm actually shocked with the reveal of the S9 chases that we probably won't be getting one of the three: Mace/Plo/Ki Adi

My chase guesses:

Clone Commander
Mace Windu
Tion Meddon

Episode I

Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Qui-Gon Jinn
Jar Jar Binks
Queen Amidala (Theed Gown)
Nute Gunray
Darth Maul
Watto
C-3PO

Episode II

Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi

Padme Amidala (Arena)
C-3PO
Jango Fett
Boba Fett
Clone Trooper
Zam Wessel

Episode III

Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Padme Skywalker (Buns Hairdo)
Darth Vader (Charred or Sith Like Anakin)
General Grievous
Darth Sidious Duel

Bail Organa
Clone Trooper(s)

Common Prequel Characters

Battle Droids
Super Battle Droids

Mace Windu
Yoda
Ki Adi Mundi
Saesee Tiin
Plo Koon
Shaak Ti
Darth Tyrannus/Dooku

Amen!  I'm really missing these Jedi.

My chase guesses:

Clone Commander
Mace Windu
Tion Meddon
Those look like very good guesses.

I'd like to see a specific clone commander and not the Hasbro generic version.  Cody would be sweet.

Episode II

Anakin Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi

Padme Amidala (Arena)

Jango Fett

Clone Trooper

We are getting a C-3PO in the 2008 Collector's Club box set, so you can strike that one off your list too.

Considering that all of the other figures in that set are from Attack of the Clones and the paint job on the figure is not a shiny metallic finish, I tend to disagree with you and still think it's an AOTC C-3PO...

*Edit*

Ok, I went back to that thread and saw that it's listed as TC-14... My bad, but I still find it strange that they would put a TPM figure in an all AOTC pack...

For some reason I can't explain, I've got a feeling that Mace will end up in a box set of some sort along with a few other "missing" Jedi.  There are so many I'd like (Mace, Ki-Adi, Plo, Agen, Bariss, Luminara, Stass, Aayla) that putting together a 5-pack would be easy...

I think that the recent updated picture of the 5-pack with Mace Windu from the Medicom show could put Ki-Adi or Plo Koon back on the table as a possible rare chase for Series 10.  With Mace out of the way in the 5-pack, it definitely leaves the door open to that possibility...

I was rearranging my display today and noticed the Spirit Anakin figure from Series 7 which was above the Spirit Obi-Wan figure from the TRU box set.  With the recent release of the Spirit Yoda figure, I'm wondering if Medicom would also possibly come out with a Spirit Anakin figure with Hayden's face/body...  The Series 10 Anakin figure would be a good choice if they were going to do it.  Maybe a Series 10 chase possibility?

...I'm wondering if Medicom would also possibly come out with a Spirit Anakin figure with Hayden's face/body... .

Lordy I hope not.  That's one of the changes (of probably three or four total) to the OT that really irritates me.  I see absolutely no reason to change out Sebastian Shaw for that.  Medicom thus far has seemed to be more true to the movies than anything else so I'm hoping they don't cheap out and do this as a cash grab.  If they make it a chase figure in the PT series, I'd be ok with that, but I hope they don't do it period.

It appears MSRP has gone up a little over 10%
Title: Re: Series 10

Yeah, I was noticing that price increase too.

S8/S9 = 924 Yen MSRP
S10 = 1029 Yen MSRP

That's a little over 11% jump in the MSRP.  It probably means that by the time we jump through the hoops and get them here in the USA, we'll be looking at a potential 20-25% increase in price from S8-9.   :'(

Yikes!  I guess the 7 month wait between now and the release is to allow all of us time to raise the $500 it's probably going to end up costing us for a MC :P  I wonder if people will be opting to just try their luck on ebay when this series is released and jump on one of the BIN auctions for all 9 figures instead of getting a MC?  I for one will not just because I want the extra Clones, etc. for customs...

Unfortunatlly they do not ship to North America, if they did we would have been all over them long ago but one would think you would have to order a hell of a lot of product to push around if they did. In most cases you have to be a store to sell the products like Robby but the few got in under the wire before questions were asked.  :-X

Interesting... the last e-mail I got from them was a resounding "no" to Medicom.  Perhaps because they are getting a lot of requests from the former Robby.jp customers they have decided to look into it?

Like Dale said, I guess a lot will depend on how much they want to charge and what type of quantity they need you to order...

I got another e-mail from Milestone after contactingt hem and they said although they do not normally deal with Medicom or Hot Toys, they are not against placing on order for the items. He said to ask and that may still may be able to assist. Its worth a shot...better than what we have now.

 :o

Well that a plus I guess, it depends on their cost. Will the sell by the 1 MC, box of 12 or will it have to be a bulk order?

I have not responded with any specifics yet but i was just happy to hear there still may be a chance.

I'm still not sure abot this new Milestone place...  in one e-mail they tell me they don't deal with Medicom, then they someone else that they can try.

I'm all for them trying I guess, but when I read stuff like "Lastly we have no obligation to return your deposit or prepaid even in case you agreed this succession" made me sort of nervous to give them any deposits/cash.   :-\

I actually took that to mean they are not taking over and outstanding orders from robby. So if robby owes someone produict or money, theis Milestone is saying they are not responsible.

Robby.jp is officially dead as of tomorrow :'(   It was a good, fun run.  I'll miss thee.

Very sad that my last box from Robby had the two clone variants in it.  I took that as a good sign of things to come.  Now I'll have to see if HLJ can give me some sort of luck.

Yeah, the death of Robby sucks.  I'm glad that so many of us were able to get in there before they shut out new US accounts - we lucked into a lot of good deals that way.  I'm still not 100% sure on this new place.  I may still pursue a small order for S10 if they can work out a good price (assuming they can even get them), but there is probably no way that I'm risking $4k-$5k on 12+ master cases from a place I've never dealt with before...   :-\

Due the the economy over there they can no longer get them wholesale, the price is very steep and not worth the trouble now.
I'll just buy a few singles from each series from now on, no more Bricks N Beer and chases though.
A good run, sad its at an end.

Holy hell- that is a chunk-o-change.

My kids and I love the kubrick chaos of tearing in to a master case. But that may make it simply too much.

So, at $480, a mastercase might break down like this:

1 rare chase $125
2 semi-rares, $60 for both
leaving a hair under $300 for the basic sets and mostly useless extras.

That would put basic sets of 6 in the $65 + range, and I don't see the secondary market selling too many at that price.

Yikes.
Title: Re: Series 10

I was dubious about the price increases and if what DSJ becomes the "norm" Series 8 and 9 may be my only master case purchases ever.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: Morgbug on December 8, 2008, 05:07 PM
I'd go back to a master case for non-prequel stuff I think, but not sure.  I've been only a box since the prequel stuff started, so that's what I'll do here.  Never received a chase from a box from HLJ but I did get the yellow clones from Robby in a solo box.  I know others have got chase from HLJ and I've ordered other stuff from them too, so I'll go back to them.

Like BrentS, I think my MC purchasing days are over...  That's way too much scratch for a MC.  I'd love to get the chases, but not at those prices.  So like Series 3, I'll have to be content knowing I'll probably never get the chases from Series 10...

I guess I'm not surprised by HLJ's price as it was mentioned a while back in the thread to expect about 20% price increase for S10.  The only thing we can do is hope for a strong dollar in 2009 and hope that we can find a new wholesaler to help us out... :(

When I was out there this year, during the Medicomtoy Parco 2008 Show, I picked up 1 box of SWS9 for 11,088 Yen. I was charged 924 each for the 12 unopened boxed figures. I was lucky enough to bag 2 Clone Yellow troopers in the end from 1 box.

Knowing medicom release date (always late + delay), they probably let them loose for sale during a toy event in tokyo.

While doing my general research on upcoming kubrick figures I stumbled across the SWS10 figure ratio

Ratio: 4/12  Clone Trooper
Ratio: 3/12  Darth Vader
Ratio: 1/12  Anakin Skywalker
Ratio: 2/12  General Grievous
Ratio: 1/12  Darth Sidous
Ratio: 1/12  Tarfful

Looks certain there be a chase clone trooper. Let the speculation begin!

I think that two common chase clone troopers is a definite, like they did with Series 9.  I'd have to put my top guesses as 501st or Shock Troopers.  If they do the same thing they did with Series 9 and put the rare chase in one of the 1:12 boxes, then I'd have to take a guess that we'd possibly get a Wookie Warrior or maybe Commander Gree in the Tarfful box, maybe a Mas Amedda or a Mace Windu in the Darth Sidious box, and maybe a Padme or Obi-Wan in the Anakin box.

A reminder that Mace is coming in the 2009 box set (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=17745.0), so I doubt they go with him for a chase in S10.

I'm hoping for a 501st Trooper,  Plo Koon, and Commander Cody as the chase figures...  but Obi-Wan w/Baby Luke and Bail w/Baby Leia would be cool too!  :)

If they do the same thing they did with Series 9 and put the rare chase in one of the 1:12 boxes

It wouldn't surprise me if they continue doing this, what with the last two SW kubrick release

Maybe medicom will throw in a jabba in the 1/12 Tarfful to spice up the new series. Or some sort of Han/Harrison Ford fig

A reminder that Mace is coming in the 2009 box set (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=17745.0), so I doubt they go with him for a chase in S10.

But as you know, they have no problem re-hashing figures that have just been released.  Case in point with Series 9 Jango and the Jango in the 2008 Collector's Club box set.  They changed the jetpack but everything else was the same.

I could see them modifying the Mace from this set slightly so that it matches the Mace from the duel with Sidious (no cloak, etc).

Just speculation of course at this point, but nothing would surprise me.  Hell, I could see them putting in an Ashoka in the Anakin box to set up a Series 11 - The Clone Wars release...

Kit would be excellent. Cody, Gree, or 501st troopers would be fine too. Barris or Luminara would be nice, they did a great job on shaak ti. The one thing missing is a seperatist- maybe a kashyyyk battle droid or nemoidian.

Medicom said April 2009 in the original announcement (which, knowing them, probably means closer to June '09).

With seemingly the global market taking a hit across the board, the drop in the dollar doesn't seem enough to account for the big jump in prices- Asian markets haven't exactly been moving up the last few months. Maybe they just caught on to the gravy train Hasbro has built for itself raising prices annually, and are trying to catch up.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: icruise on December 24, 2008, 01:36 PM
Well, it is actually true that the dollar has dropped significantly versus the yen. A few months ago it was 115 yen to the dollar. Now it's just under 90 yen to the dollar -- that more than a 20% change making it the lowest it's been for more than a decade. So I actually think that's a big factor. I get paid in yen, so I follow it pretty closely.

Gave a set of 6 to my niece's husband to be as well.

$400 was not exactly what she said.
They told me "over" $400 before shipping.
I just hope its not that much more "over"

CB

My source told me today that our Brick N Beer crew can get a case of Series 10 but without the discount they used to get from the shop they buy from.
$400 plus for the case this time around.
CB

I got a quote from someone overseas for $525 shipped for a MC for Series 10...  The $400 plus you're getting quoted seems like a pretty good deal...

Here is what they told me:

I order a carton of SW S10.
It will be release in April.
The price is not discounted price as I said you.
It will be over $400.0.
Now, $ is weaker than JPY.
When I calculate JPY--> $
Price became rise up as usual

japan.toystore has listed sets for preorder on ebay, but has obviously only listed the 6 basic figures, for $69.99US (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Medicom-STAR-WARS-DARTH-VADER-CLONETROOPER-Kubrick-6P_W0QQitemZ330313250614QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item330313250614&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4%7C65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318).

So this series comes out in a few weeks.  Did anyone order from overseas, pre-order from HLJ or BBTS, or are most of you waiting for ebay?  Just wondering if anyone has gotten any buzz about a potential ship date for these...

The last update from Medicom still said April 30th for Series 10, meaning it should hit the retailers that first week of May...  unless of course it gets delayed between now and then.   :P

Also note that this series is an April 2009 release & HLJ is stating a Dec release. I'm sure that is wrong.

**** it! Order placed, a MC done for me. Better be ******* factory sealed.  :-X

Notification from HLJ will be when they are instock & ready to ship, I got my confirmation e-mail shorty after I placed my order.  8)

I've got a guy that I've purchased from before that said he'd sell me an unopened Master Case. I'm looking to keep 2 boxes of 12 and looking for one or two people interested in sharing this case. Obviously these days no chases are ever guaranteed but I will promise to randomly shuffle these boxes before I open any of them. I am Sith has agreed to supervise the shuffling.  Based on the price I'm getting quoted, I could sell a Box of 12 for $135 shipped to anywhere in North America.

If you are interested, send me a PM.

WTF?

I was checking my e-mail and I noticed I had an e-mail from HLJ.  I got excited until I read it...   My Series 10 order has been cancelled!   >:(

I just checked the HLJ website and yep, the listing has been changed to "Order Stop" meaning they have oversold S10 based on how much they are expecting from the manufacturer.

I had placed an order for 8x boxes of Series 10 back in January.  Now I'm screwed...  Anyone else who ordered from HLJ get a cancel notice or was it just me?  Maybe I got picked because I ordered so many boxes?  Easier to piss of the 8x box guy than eight 1x box guys.   :-\

Time to run around and see if I can find something else...

I got an e-mail from one of my sources and they passed along the same ratios mentioned earlier in the thread...

Ratio: 4/12  Clone Trooper
Ratio: 3/12  Darth Vader
Ratio: 2/12  General Grievous
Ratio: 1/12  Anakin Skywalker
Ratio: 1/12  Darth Sidous
Ratio: 1/12  Tarfful

It's still not "officially" confirmed (I haven't see anyone report any open boxes yet), but it's looking like this ratio could be the real deal...
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: I Am Sith on April 14, 2009, 08:52 PM
I really think that it's overkill to have Vader 3:12 with this series when they've already released a Vader in Series 4.  I would have much rather had a Tarfful in that ratio for a little Wookie army building/customizing...  Definitely glad to have the extra clones though.  I want to make a few customs of those as well.

Maybe they release series 10 in some sort of toy show (medicom/parco show 2009). Then release them after 3-4 weeks officially

This is what happened to series 9 when I was out in tokyo last year. This was around about late June and is typical of delays by medicom standards.

With the recent announcement of the June 20 Parco Medicom Toy show 2009 I would bet against it that SW10 release date be delayed again!

My hunch would be they release SW10 during the 2009 show. That was what happened last year when I was out in Tokyo Jun-08 and bagged myself 2x Yellow clone troopers from box of 12

Still had fond memories when I was lining up for the show at 9:30am round the Parco building. With this given to me in the line just to enter and be admitted

Tion Medon! WFT over! I sure as hell did not expect that one. A 4-arm Grievous, nice but why? We already have Grievous, sure with 2 arms but...  :-\

Gree has nice greeny color to him tho.

So Gree is 2:48, Tion Medon 1:96 & 4-arm Grievous is 1:96. Dammit! Come on HLJ, yeah June 20th they say.  I need to know what the other 1/96 is that I need.  ;D

Great pic's Jeff.  :)

So Gree is 2:48, Tion Medon 1:96 & 4-arm Grievous is 1:96.

Yep - final confirmed ratios:

28:96 - Clone Trooper (Ep3)
24:96 - Darth Vader (Ep3)
15:96 - General Grievous (2-arm, with cape)
 8:96 - Sidious/Palpatine (Ep3)
 8:96 - Anakin Skywalker (Ep3)
 7:96 - Tarfful
4:96 - Commander Gree [Clone Trooper Box]
1:96 - Tion Medden [Tarfful Box]
1:96 - General Grievous (4-arm, no cape) [Grievous Box]

Title: Re: Series 10

Happy with Gree's ratio.  If anyone wants to trade a Gree for a chase yellow clone or Han chase from way back (or even a blue royal guard), I think I still have all three of those available.  Tion Medden and Grievous chase are irrelevant to me.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: Dan on June 5, 2009, 01:12 PM
I think the figures look pretty great, although Tion does not knock my socks off. Taking a 1:12 Tarful out of the mix to put him in is a drag. Grievous with 4 arms? Yeah I like it, but ROTS was so loaded with unique chase opportunities, particularly Jedi, that I can't help feeling a little let down.

They must have a plan for getting more Jedi and clones out at some point. As much as I want to see some OTC, there is more to be done from ROTS. And box sets seem to have less unique figures each time, so maybe another wave is a possibility. This one is so core character loaded-
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: BrentS on June 5, 2009, 02:37 PM
I was hoping for a Jedi Chase (Kit Fisto anyone??) but I'm okay with all three chases.  I think they all look really cool.  Sure Tion Medon is obscure but he was given the same sneak preview treatment for Hasbro.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: I Am Sith on June 5, 2009, 02:45 PM
Gree looks freaking awesome!  This is also one less custom I have to do ;D

The rare chases are ok, but like others I would have liked to see some more Jedi (Kit, Plo, Luminara, Aayla).  Oh well, if my box of 12 from NCSX has the rare chase in it, I'm surely not going to complain about having it.  Good luck to everyone on their chase search.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: JediJman on June 5, 2009, 03:18 PM
I'm pretty happy with the selection.  It would be nice to get Gree over the other two chase  IMO, so glad he's the easier one of the three.  I won't complain if I get Grievous or Tion, but would probably try to trade them for other previous rares.

Gree is sweet. Tion is a nice one. I'm not a fan of Grievous but will get it to complete the set. I'm disappointed that it wasn't a Jedi.

That Vader looks amazing!  I'd love to get one, but then I'd have to do that Pokemon thing and that's just not fun especially this late in the game.  Question - why hasn't Hasbro thought about releasing a line similar to these guys in the states?  Would that be infringing on LEGO mini figs?  Mighty Muggs was a great idea, but they're huge - something like this line though, I think I could handle at a reasonable (non-imported) price.

Cases of 48 should turn out one of two ways, but you never know with Kubes:

14:48  - Clone Trooper (Ep3)
12:48  - Darth Vader (Ep3)
8:48 OR 7:48  - General Grievous (2-arm, with cape)
4:48 - Sidious/Palpatine (Ep3)
4:48 - Anakin Skywalker (Ep3)
4:48 OR 3:48  - Tarfful
2:48  - Commander Gree [Clone Trooper Box]
1:48 - Tion Medden [Tarfful Box] OR General Grievous (4-arm, no cape) [Grievous Box]

That Vader is a great looking figure.  The chase figures for this wave are an interesting mix but I am kind of glad that they didn't do some of the Jedi mentioned.  I would love to be able to get a Kit Fisto or Plo Koon figure but not have to pay $100+ for them.  I'm still a little bumbed out by the Shaak Ti chase as that's a character I would have liked to pick up.

From that point of view, I think this wave's chase figures were probably a good choice.  I'll probably be looking to get a Vader and Clone Trooper from this wave at some point.

I was shocked to see a Shaak Ti the other day on ebay for $80 BIN and there was a Zam auction that ended at around $125.  Those are by far the lowest prices I've seen on those chases.

Well, to be fair, you need to factor in Ebay prices with shipping.  They guy who wanted $80 for the Shaak Ti was charging $30 shipping.  I asked him if he would lower it a bit, seeing as how it likely wouldn't even cost him $5 to ship.  His offer?  "Sure, I will send figure and ship for just $110.  Deal?"  ::) $80 was definitely tempting, but $110?  Not so much.

Ha!  I never opened the auction as I already have Shaak Ti.  Yeah, that's crap that they wanted $30 to ship.  However, I'm thinking $110 is still cheaper than a lot of people paid for that figure...

I suppose so.  I think the most I ever shelled out was $40 for a Luke Stormtrooper - I have the basic figs and the easier to find chase figs, but can't bring myself to pay the big bucks for a single figure like that.  Even if I could have gotten it for $80, I'm not sure I would have pulled the trigger.  Okay, yes I would.   :D

I noticed this morning that more of this series is showing up on the bay. A sealed MC for $519.99, a sealed box of 12 for $119.99-$124.99. I would stay away from that as the sellers have found the chases & are selling the commons off that would not contain a bloody thing.

Gree chase from $49.99-$59.99 bin's & openers from $30. Grevious 4-arm chase for a bin of $139.99 or an opener of $100. Edit: seller changed the bin fro $139.99 to $179.99. It just shows you what ******** they are trying to get the most value.  ::)

A full complete series will all the chase figure, 9 pcs for bin's of $449.99 which one sold.

I have not seen a Tion Medon chase on the bay yet, he maybe the tuffer one to get. Will see what he goes for when one pops up.

I'm going to try for that opener auction...  I can't wait until the end of the month to find out if I have a chase or not in my BO12 from NCSX.  They said that they aren't expecting to ship until the end of the month.  Worst case, I win this auction and get the same chase in my box...  There are worse things in life.  The reality is, I won't win the auction and I'll get bubkiss in my box from NCSX...

I only ordered a box and am not expecting to find a Gree.  Anyone order a master case and know they will have a spare?  If so, please send me a PM and I'll be happy to pay up front to lock one down.

Has anyone received shipping confirmation from NCS yet?  I ordered with the BF collection, so I think  it will take a bit longer for mine to ship.   :-\  Site still says these will ship end of May with the BF figs shipping end of June.

Yes, once everyone started posting about Series 10 being released I gave them a call.  The girl on the line stated that they expect to get their shipment later this month and fulfill orders by the end of the month.

BTW, if you ordered Series 10 and the BF collection together there's a way to have them ship Series 10 immediately.  If you clicked on the 'Ship available items now and preorder items later' option when you placed your order, they will ship your Series 10 figures as soon as they get them.  If you didn't, give them a call and they can edit your order.

Thanks - that was very helpful!  I did ask to have them all shipped together because I didn't want to pay extra on the shipping charges.  Did you order both and have them shipped seperately?  I'd have to look up the order, but I think it was only like $10-12 to have them ship 4 boxes (2 Series 10 and 2 Fett boxes).

My conact in Hong Kong told me that he could get the Grievous chase, but for Tion Medon I'd have to get that one from Japan.  Could these series 10 chases be regional, like the Cantina Band member variations were?

I've seen Tion bundled with the others in a 9 piece sale, but not individually..........

Overall I'm not too fussed about the 2 chases the Grievous is take it or leave it and Tion would be nice to have but is obscure enough for me to not be that fussed about picking one up.

Commander Gree, however, is already on his way  :)

Honorous is a business man, plain and simple.  Like Dale's been saying, not many Tion's yet and I'm sure Honorius is all too aware of that.  He'll start high and stay high until he has a reason/competition to bring his prices down, pretty standard for him...
Title: Re: Series 10

Yeah, Honorius usually eventually comes down. Since it looks like Hong Kong is getting Grievous and Japan is getting Tion I'm hoping more will show up as more Series 10 shows up in Japan.

If it holds true than Tion should be in our case from Japan.
The Gree looks great, going to have to keep him.

Good ol Honorius, I expected it to be high but wow. All in time the price will come down, heck stuff that went for uber coin came down in price. I'm surprised he didn't post a pic of multiple Tion's.  :D

I do have some good news tho, I got an e-mail from HLJ. My MC is on the way, should be here sometime next week.  ;D

So this is how the price worked out as per xe.com (http://www.xe.com/ucc/) but the actual cost on my CC will be the final tally plus if I get hit with customs.  :-\

1 box of 12: 11,172 yen or about $113.870 US.
4 boxes of 12: 44,688 yen or about $455.524 US.
Shipping for the MC: 5,400 yen or about $55.0445 US.
Total damage: 50,088 yen or about $510.287 US or $568.2955 CDN.

Yah, My crack-brick addiction is going full speed this week.  Do you have any idea whether NCS gets their stuff from HK vs. Japan?  I'm not expecting to get a rare chase with just one box, but you never know.

DSJ that is very expensive for a master case for SWS10! I was thinking about placing an order with HLJ but in the end decided not too.

A contact I made with a  HK toy seller offered me a chance to buy a master case for $405.60 which I took up.  Like all you boys/girls out there I am still waiting for this seller to come up with the goods.

Maybe I will be charged extra for shipping to the UK when this finally does show up. Good luck with master case and for those who have ordered from HLJ

As this is my first order with them, I honestly have no idea.  I too am not expecting to get a chase with my box, but we at least have a 50% chance of getting something, right?!  I'd be happy if I ended up with the Gree and floored if I ended up with one of the rares.  Either way, I'm not going to be disappointed at all if I don't get a chase in this box.  I just want to get them in hand...

I jumped on the Early Bird preorder at HLJ, 5% off the regular price of 11,760 yen so about $120.32 US per box of 12. I saved $6.45 per box of 12. On the MC, $25.80 roughly. I also noticed at HLJ that Series 10 is listed as discontinued so they filled thier allotment.

I have no idea where NCSX gets their stuff from, just a place I stubbled upon the net looking around but at $125.90 US per 12 I guess that's not too bad next to BBTS for $149.99 UD for 12. Maybe they get them from HLJ.  :-X

I really hope this NCSX comes through for you guys, keep those fingers crossed.  :)

We're about to find out Jayson...  I really hope it fits.  I'd hate to have one figure from this series out of the case.

Have we seen any images of the regular grievous?  Is he the same size?

I have to believe that it would have a bigger footprint than the chase figure as it has the cape as well.  That didn't look like a soft goods cape, so the hard plastic cape may be pretty difficult to fit in your case or the JL case.

AMEN.  I'm not used to ordering boxes of these and went in on an order with Jay for these and the Fett sets, so I'm really hoping they come thru.

I looked back at posts from the Series 8 and Series 9 releases and people that ordered from NCSX got their orders filled as well as got lucky with both the common and rare chases.  My fingers are crossed that one of us will end up with one of the chases.

Just an FYI that I called NCS yesterday about my Series 10 order.  The CS person said they are expecting S10 in the next week or two.  I asked about spliting up my order to get these before the Fett boxes came in, but she said that they are expecting to get both S10 and the Fetts in the next couple of weeks.  Not sure how reliable this information is, but sure would be nice to have them both on the way before the end of the month!

If I didn't say so before, I ordered two boxes - one for me and one for Jay.  Did the rest of you just order one box? Even with two boxes, I guess I'm expecting Jay or I to at least find a Gree, but will be interesting to see how it all nets out.  Are the easy chases (2:48) always in one box or do they sometimes release one in every other box?

Are the easy chases (2:48) always in one box or do they sometimes release one in every other box?

The 2:28 chases are always in the same box of 12.(bastards)

Like so:

Both 2:48 Grees will be in the same box of 12, not spread throughout the case of 48.
Grievous or Tion will be in another box of 12 and the other two boxes of 12 will have no chases.

Cases of 48 should turn out one of two ways, but you never know with Kubes:

14:48  - Clone Trooper (Ep3)
12:48  - Darth Vader (Ep3)
8:48 OR 7:48  - General Grievous (2-arm, with cape)
4:48 - Sidious/Palpatine (Ep3)
4:48 - Anakin Skywalker (Ep3)
4:48 OR 3:48  - Tarfful
2:48  - Commander Gree [Clone Trooper Box]
1:48 - Tion Medden [Tarfful Box] OR General Grievous (4-arm, no cape) [Grievous Box]
Title: Re: Series 10

That's what I figured.  So it's possible that out of two boxes, we will both get the boxes with no chases, but odds are that one of the two will either have a rare chase or the Gree.  Jay's luck has been pretty outstanding the last 4-5 months, so I'm banking on him getting some kind of chase in his.  Hopefully the Gree box.   ;)

On thing my distributor said... even Series 10 hasn't been free of "mutant" cases.  He said that one of his master cases ended up having 4 Grees and no rare chases.  Another case had only 2 Grees and no rare chases.   :o However, the rest of all his cases had the "normal" distribution of chases - 2 Grees and either Tion or Grievous.   He's seen both rare chases in his full order.  Hopefully no one here on JD gets affected by a mutant case.  Enough of you have been through that already!!

Out of curiousity, how does your distributor know what was in each master case?  Is this feedback he's getting from buyers or has he opened and checked that many master cases?   ???

He doesn't.  When Brent said "his cases", he meant the guy's personal master cases (I know he opened quite a few), not ALL the cases he's selling.  The guy was just talking about the cases that they themselves or other customers have opened so far.

I have an offer from someone on the Bay.  He's selling a complete set of basic 6 and Gree and the Chase 4 arm Grievous for $200 plus shipping.  If that nets out to $220 I'm not sure that it's a very good deal ($60 for basic, $40 for Gree, and $120 for Chase Grievous?)  What do you guys think?  I'm wavering back in forth on this one - doesn't help that I already have a box of S10 on the way.   :P

$220 for a set of 8 is about the "norm" for 'bricks as new as these.  Like skyward said, the prices may come down over time, but for now, about $200-225 for a set of 8 is right around the "normal" price.

NCS is shipping them UPS? If that is the method they are sending them (not sure on International) then I'm glad I did not go with them. Not only would I get hit with customs, I would also get hit with a brokerage fee. I would have only 2 choices, accept the parcel & pay the fees which would cost me a hell of alot more or refuse the shipment.  :-\

Just checked the USPS website and it looks like my case arrived at the Grayslake Post Office this morning (8:30am).  I'm not sure if that means it made it out for the daily delivery or not  :-\  I guess I find out when the mail arrives.  However, I think I'm waiting until Monday now.

Very nice display!  I wasn'ta  big fan of this set at first, but it's growing on me the more I see it.  Where did you get the individual Kubie display cases?  How much do these cost?  I may need to expand my display already.   :P

Obsessive-Compulsive in me...  I called the post-office and they said that if it was listed as "at the unit" then its out for delivery.  So I should get them today.

Jeff, I'll PM you when they arrive with the photos.

Very nice Sir Real, I see that you have the Grievous chase in the display case but not on the foot peg as with the regular Grievous. Large bugger he is.  ;D

Where did you get the individual Kubie display cases?  How much do these cost?

Those individual Kuby cases can be ordered from Toytokyo for $37.99 for a box of 20 plus shipping but they show out of stock. You can click the "Get notified when Available' link & also keep an eye out if they come back in.  ;)

I have no idea if these are available in the UK. The only other place I have seen them in on the bay, singles & by the case.

Just to help you out here, the box does have some weight to it. 3 lbs. 11" x 9" x 4". If I was to send a case from Canada, it would would roughly cost anywhere from $32.-$43. US. Air Mail.

The customs fees will be an Ł8 charge (if it comes through Royal Mail) + 15% VAT on the goods and shipping combined

I haven't bought from them but the shipping price quoted was in the region of $35, so similar to what DSJ was saying as I remember it coming to about Ł2 per case with shipping (don't forget it was Ł1=$2 last year) and this was before customs charges and VAT - the customs charges and VAT didn't make it economical to buy them for me. The customs charge and VAT kick in at Ł18 so even with a good Ł/$ exchange rate the $37 price point means you will need the $ to do very badly to get cheap cases..........

I haven't found a retail source in the UK but I have picked up some on ebay (both UK and US - the US win was under Ł18 so didn't incur customs charges) and picked up about 30 cases on here from a UK collector who had a load spare after selling off his collection - so always worth putting a wants in the classifieds.

What did people here pay for MC from other places?

So this is how the price worked out as per xe.com (http://www.xe.com/ucc/) but the actual cost on my CC will be the final tally plus if I get hit with customs.  :-\

1 box of 12: 11,172 yen or about $113.870 US.
4 boxes of 12: 44,688 yen or about $455.524 US.
Shipping for the MC: 5,400 yen or about $55.0445 US.
Total damage: 50,088 yen or about $510.287 US or $568.2955 CDN.

Insane.
Even without the discount which they used to get and are not getting for series 10, the price does not make any sense.
Unreal.
I may have to see if they can take the case back, no way any of us can afford this.
Even if you add the discount to what we paid for series 9 the price does not even come close.
Did Kubes actually go up that much?
Crazy.

Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: Jeff on June 15, 2009, 03:52 PM
Did Kubes actually go up that much?

Well, the retail Medicom price went up 11% and the USA dollar vs. Yen is about 12% lower than it was for Series 9 (the economy strikes again), so seeing a 20-25% price increase for S10 vs S8/S9 is not all that surprising.

It will be even worse for the Fett series since Medicom jacked up the retail price again on those... expect another 15-20% increase there over S10.   :-\

The scariest part is in the end the commons will probably settle out like they always do, around $5 per and that's well below actual cost.  After all, do you sit on your spares for year or take the loss?  Actually I think $5 per common was well below regular cost anyways.  I seem to recall in the $7-9 range and now it's probably over $10.  Ugh.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: JediJman on June 15, 2009, 06:26 PM
Well, my boxes of S10 at NCSX were $125.90.  I'd expect a discount for a master case, but if not it would come to $503.60.  Shipping was pretty cheap - just $10.71 for 4 boxes (2 Series 10 and 2 Fett Series), which should be about the size of a master case.  Of course, my Fett boxes were $165.90 each.   ::)  Sounds like your pricing is high, but not totally unreasonable.

Price per figure is all out of whack because of the chases.  Per figure, My cost came to about $10.75 on the S10 figs and a little over $14 per Fett figure including shipping.  That's pricey, but you're also gambling somewhat on getting a chase.  If you bought a set of commons on Ebay for $50, a 1:24 chase at $30 and a rare chase at $120, you'd have spent $200, which is a spendier $25/figure.
Title: Re: Series 10
Post by: Dan on June 15, 2009, 06:42 PM
Well, NCSX let me down. When I first placed the order, I went through the paypal routine, but it didn't look like it was completed. I didn't want to double up the order, so I emailed them to ask if it went through. They got right back to me, and told me it had and gave me an order #.  So last week I email them and ask for the status, and they give me a tracking number, which has a ship to address in NJ (I'm in MN). So I email them again and they say they got my order mixed up with another Dan's, and mine never went through.

So, I went to the bay and did a BIN chase greivous at $125, a Gree at $35, with $5 shipping for the two of them. This is the first time since series 2 that I am going after them one by one   :'(

If the math works right, I'll have between $200 and $225 in to the first 8, with Tion left to get. Considering boxes were going to be $125 plus shipping with no gaurantee of chases, I guess I'm ok with the route for this set.

Somebody asked me to take a comparison shot of the old and new vaders, so I thought I'd post it here. The new one looks to be almost an entirely new sculpt (compare the shape of the cloak, the ribs on the gauntlets, and the saber, for example). Although it is of course similar to the old one. It's noticeably shorter though. I like the new one better except for the red face.

I'll also have one if not two basic sets of six with an extra Clone thrown in and a few singles depending on what comes in the case.

Looks like Ningyoushi got their shipment today too:

4-Arm Grievous Chase (http://www.ningyoushi.com/General_Grevious_CHASE_Kubrick_p/mk144.htm)

$140 with free shipping.  There are ones on ebay right now for about $125-$130 shipped, so this isn't the best deal to be had right now.

Gree Chase (http://www.ningyoushi.com/Star_Wars_Kubrick_General_Gree_p/mk147-d1.htm)

$35 with free shipping.  This is about average for this figure, maybe a few dollars less.

Brian's Toys got their shipment and it looks like their chase prices have gone up a bit since Series 9:

Tion Chase (http://www.brianstoys.com/store/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SSITIONMEDON)

$199 plus shipping.  Yikes!  That's a little hard to swallow...

Gree Chase (http://www.brianstoys.com/store/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SSICOMMANDERGREE)

At $40 this one is at least closer to the prices on ebay and what they were charging for other Kubrick common figures...

I picked up my MC about 1/2 hr ago.

Yep, I got a "mutant" case. 2 Grees & no rare chases, that's a first for me. The hunt is now on for the rare chases, gaaaah this is going to cost me.  :'(

Well I solved the mystery of why Grievous does not sit of the foot peg of the Kuby cases, he has no foot peg. I just slide his front right foot between the toes onto the peg. Damn, he is a tight fit in the case.

I can barely get the standard Grievous in the JL case.  The chase Grievous definitely doesn't fit with all of the lightsabers in his hands...  I may need to get a Medicom case for that one...

[Lovell] We're not going to go bouncing off the walls for ten minutes, 'cause we're just going to end up back here with the same problems![/ Lovell]

Well what can ya do, it's the chances ya take.  :-\

Just a note here, I'm putting the Kuby's in the single display cases & noticed a few things besides Grievous being frinkin' huge & no foot pegs.

Be careful with the "Blaster Rifle" for the Clone Troopers, I had one piece fall off. It's the piece that's just under the barrel, it can be glued back on tho. Just very badly put together.

Speaking of very badly put together, I have a Grievous sealed in the bag & the head has snapped off at the neck. This too looks like it can be glued back on but sucks as I have to keep this one cause of the damage & it was like that when I opened the box. I would be careful & check a Grievous 4-arm chase just incase when one arrives, it may have to be sent back & get a refund.

I'm displaying 2 Vader's, with & without the helmet & faceplate. The one with the helmet & faceplate on, Vader is a bit short in the display case & the helmet will fall off & the faceplate just barely stays on. As for the one without the helmet & faceplate off, Vader can hold the faceplate in ethier hand but the helmet will not display very well loose as is too big for the case to sit at the bottom. Just sucks.  :-\

Other than those few things, the figures have the odd loose limbs. You would think for a price increase that you would get better quality Kuby's. Nope I guess not.

Echoes Jeff... Boo Medicom!  >:(

I opened mine so I'm now the proud owner of Series 10.  I'm not going to reveal anything about the chase hunt in deference to Jeff so that he can open his with the anticipation of the unknown chase hunt.

Well, I got my two boxes today. I ripped open the Tarfful boxes and the Grievous boxes and...  no chases of any kind for me.  :(

Hopefully Brent was able to find a rare chase because I'd hate to find out that we got a mutant case too.

So, I guess I'm hunting for both rares myself.  I'm really glad that Brent and I made a deal to split the Grees or I would have been skunked on chases altogether!  :-\

So now I can reveal what I found....  No Rare Chases.  >:( However, we did get a Mutant Case variant in that when we (my kids and I) opened up the 24 that I had, we uncovered 4 Grees.  I'm assuming there were 2 Grees in each box of 12 but I have no way of knowing for sure.

So if anyone needs a Gree, I've got one more left (1 for me, 1 to Jeff, and 1 to IamSith).  I've also got a full set of 6 I'm looking to unload.

I suppose I need to go chase hunting as well.  I'm not 100% sold on these chase right now.  I'm having a hard time with $200 for a figure.  I overspent on my Saesee Tiin last year and I haven't forgiven myself yet.

What the heck is going on.

It's really unfortunate that you guys that ordered the MC's have so far come up empty on rare chases.  With Series 8 I was willing to say that it was a fluke that a few of us ended up missing rares in our cases when the majority of people got them.  Then with Series 9 it seemed as though everything was back to normal.  Now it's out of whack again and I just don't get it.  You would think that Medicom increasing the price would translate into better quality figures (like DSJ was saying earlier today) and better Quality Control making sure that the case ratios are accurate.

I for one will not order another MC for these releases and it isn't because I ended up with a rare chase from NCS.  If I know I have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a box of 12 sent to me with a rare chase, I'm ok with that.  If I don't get one, no big deal, I wasn't expecting it.  On the flip side, I'm not ok with spending $500+ for a MC and not getting a rare chase at all.  I'll keep rolling the dice with places like NCS for as long as they continue to put these Series up for order at a reasonable price.

Wow. Dale & Jeff, sorry to hear about the mutant cases.  That really blows.  I didn't start buying complete boxes until Series 9, but the potential for a chase lured me in.  Knowing there are master cases with no rares has definitely killed the idea of ever buying a master case for me.  Frankly, I'm surprised at how many of the NCS orders seemed to have either a rare or a Gree box so far.  I'm hoping that bodes well for my S10 boxes and Fett boxes as well whenever they're released.  Anyway, good luck tracking down the rares.   :P

The biggest problem here is that Medicom has never (to my knowledge) promised that every Master Case will have a "rare secret" figure in it.  So its not really a quality control issue (in their minds).  They also don't market these cases for collectors to buy the whole box, they are marketed and designed to be sold as individual units at a retail store.  So for the average consumer, it is truly supposed to be random when they buy a box to see if it has a "secret" figure or a normal figure.   Now if a box of 12 is advertised to have all 6 regular figures in it and it comes up short one of those 6 figures, then I'd agree thats a QC issue.

I agree here.  I think I'm done ordering Master Cases.  With the price rises and trends in chase assortment, its just not "worth" the financial risk in my opinion.

Luckily for me the seller sent the Chase Grievous very well protected in a small box. I was a bit worried when I read on here about the thin neck.

For those who hven't picked one up yet it is worth asking for the Chase Grievous to be sent in a box rather than the bubble wrap and envelope method that a lot of the Far East sellers use.

I think the unbreakable thing just refers to the fact that you can't (for the most part) disassemble them like you can many other kubricks.

I hope the B N B is going well.  :)

My Grievous 4-arm came in the mail today, I love the different saber handles. He is very fragile, nothing broken but some pieces are so thin. I have no idea how to display him, he's a bit to big for the single display case. I might have to get ahold of Oscar & get a couple of custom cases made.

I used a plastic regular action figure-sized display case for the chase General Greivious, and he just fits...

Yep, both Grievouses fit in standard Medicom cases for me.  Just barely, and the footpegs are kind of a problem, I may have to file those off, but they do fit.

Are you saying you only had one Gree in your MC? That's the first I've heard of any Easy Chase figs being just one per box.   ???

Series 8 had ZERO Jar Jar as well, I forget what 1/96 we got that time.

Those were the only Series that were not normal for us.

OK boys/girls managed to open a 2nd SWS10 box no chases found this time. Just the usually standard figures (4x Troppers, 1x Skywalker, 1x Sidious, 1x Tarful, 3x Vaders, 2x Grievous)

I don't intend to open any more. My intention was to only open 2 and sell the rest and recoup some money back. I think I am more than happy to get 2x Tion chases from my master case and the the full basic set

Not too worried about getting the rest of the chase figs (waiting for them to come down in price). So I have therefore for the time being listed 1 box of 12 figs on ebay for sale as of now.

Sorry to hear some of you received mutant cases, knowing medicom and kubrick collecting nothing is guaranteed

So you're ok not opening the other two boxes when odds are one of those boxes has at least one, possibly up to three, of the common Commander Gree chase figures in it? ???  I realize that you want to recoup costs, but you're basically giving away a figure you've already paid for and you're planning on purchasing in the future when they 'come down in price'.  Help me out, why would you do this?

Thats true sith, but its a gamble I am willing to take. Considering I bagged myself 2x Tion I am more than happy with the master case I purchased. Other people who puchased a MC on theis forum only received 1 Gree and 4-arm Grievous. The chance of me getting a Gree is 8:24 out of the 2 remaining boxes which I am not prepared to take. I need to recoup some money back while the market price is at its peak before it drops

Maybe one day I sell the extra Toin to finance the remaining SWS10 chases

Congrats again on the 4-arm Jay, that was sweet!  And landing it as the very first one is the best way to go IMO.

My S10 had no chases, but I'm not complaining after getting the L-Slot Fett in my other box and splitting the Fett Commons with Jay.  I already have Gree and while I certainly wouldn't turn down a 4-Arm or Tion, they aren't "must-haves" for me either.  I know its all luck, but kudos to NCS on the awesome turn out with 3 chase boxes out of the four we ordered!

Thanks Justin, it was a fun reveal for sure. On that note, I was examining my series 10 Kubies tonight and they all look great together, although I did notice an error with this set that happens to be a pet peeve of mine. The Anakin actually includes the EII lightsaber hilt design and not his proper EIII/EIV style hilt.  :-\

I know that doesn't matter to some/most collectors, but for as detail-oriented Medicom is for the most part, I'm kind of surprised this detail got past them.

I didn't notice that, but agree that it is irritating.  I can totally get someone not being able to tell the difference on the spot (myself included), but if you're only making a handful of figures per year, why not get the details right?  It's not like there isn't a walth of source material to go by... :P
