Vintage Kenner / Restoring Playsets and Vehicles
« on: December 25, 2008, 09:59 PM »
Hey Y'all,

I'm in the process of shipping out all my old vintage playsets and vehicles but after 20+ years in my parents' basement I've noticed a few problems:

-lots of dust in the corners and grooves
-the foam on the Dagobah and the Trash Compactor from the Death Star playsets have really deteriorated.
-The cardboard pieces of the Death Star walls are really frayed at the edges and would probably need replacing.

Anyone know of a cheap way I could replace the foam and cardboard cheaply?  I'd also like to print out hi res images instead of purchasing anything.  Also, what's a good cleaning technique?

Watto's Junk Yard / The Stargate Thread
« on: July 11, 2008, 06:48 PM »
I'm looking forward to the new Season of Atlantis tonight.  Also, it's been kind of fun revisiting all the episodes of SG-1 with my wife.  I got her into Atlantis, and now that we have some time, we've been watching all my SG-1 DVDs.

Just to add a little geeky trivia, we can see Cheyenne Mountain from our deck.   :D

Vintage Kenner / A good, Complete Vintage database
« on: July 6, 2008, 10:21 PM »
I was trying to find some good pictures of some vintage playsets and was having trouble remembering some of the really good vintage database sites out there. 12back.com has a lot of good information, but it isn't complete (no good minirig pics etc).

What others am I forgetting?

*edit*I remembered toysrgus, but they moved here.

The Lucas legal bureau is at it again.

I'm not 100% convinced that Team Lucas will win out this time.

Power of the Jedi / Dejarik Chewie question
« on: March 18, 2008, 08:18 PM »
As I set up my collection room, I'm setting up ships and putting pilots in them and such...with larger ships like the Falcon, I'm setting figures up inside like mini-dioramas.  My question is will the Dejarik Chewbacca fit in the place of the Dejarik board inside the Falcon?

The Wookiee Arcade / The KOTOR II information thread
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:23 PM »
I thought I would actually make a separate thread for this topic because it really doesn't fit with the announcement thread.  I've been playing this game again since I got a version for my X-box 360 and have been focusing on completing all aspects of the game.  I know this will take several tries since there are different possibilities wether your character is male of female or if you choose to be a light or dark Jedi.  A bit of a spoiler warning for those of you who have not played the game....but since it's been out for about 3 years now I think most everyone who has the game has played it.  Feel free to contribute with anything you have found out about the game, especially on how to change your party members into Jedi.  So far I've only been able to make two of them Jedi and I'll post exactly how I did it here.

Characters that cannot be made into Jedi:

-G0T0, HK-47, T3M4, Hanharr and Mandalore

Although I'm not surprised by the droids or Mandalore, I was a bit surprised by Hanharr since if you are a light-sider, Mira apparently can, although I have not been able to make her one as of yet.

Also, you obviously cannot make Visas Marr or Kreia Jedi because they already are.

Characters you can train as Jedi:

Atton Rand - To get him to be a Jedi, I had to obviously gain influence with him, but also talk to him after Kreia teaches you to hear the thoughts of everyone on the Ebon Hawk.  If you get him to talk about his past (after you talk to the Twileks in the refugee section on Nar Shaddaa this seems to be unlocked) and he talks about the Jedi that sacrificed herself to protect the knowledge that he is force sensitive, you unlock his Jedi ability.  This is handy to have done before you meet with Visquis on Nar Shaddaa he has to fight the Twin Suns alone and some force powers can come in handy in that fight.

Handmaiden/Brianna - This was actually the first of the party I was able to make into a Jedi.  The trick is to get her to train you in all of her fighting moves, There are three sparring matches you can have on the Ebon Hawk with her.  After that, you need to get her to talk about her Mother.  I was able to do that after I talked to Kreia when I had finished the sparring matches with Handmaiden and she brought up who her mother was.

Mira - Although I have not been able to train her as a Jedi as of yet, I think I have gotten close by gaining influence with her and getting her to talk about being among the Mandalorians and losing her family at Malachor V.  If anyone has been able to make her a Jedi, I would appreciate some pointers.

Bao-Dur - Another character I have not yet been able to train as a Jedi, and I'm not so sure how to, since I cannot get him to talk much after I get back to the Ebon Hawk after leaving Telos.  I also have not brought him on many missions after Telos since I've been concentrating on other characters for now.

Disciple - I have never played the game as a female, so I have never had him in my party.

I hope to add to this as time goes by.  I would also appreciate help from others who may have taken different paths than I have in this game.

Although a great shortstop in the 40's and 50's, I will always remember him from announcing every Yankee Game I watched on television growing up.  He was they play by play announcer for 40 years and arguably the most famous announcer in sports!

So long Scooter....and thanks for the memories.

I looked to see if there was a thread about this already, but did not see it.  I loved the pics of this vehicle from CIV and it, looks like this will be a TRU exclusive.

Two Questions:

1.  Does the Ring Separate from the fighter?

2.  When is this slated for release?

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Ad links on front page.

     Hey guys,

Not a huge deal, but when I click on the Master Replicas link on the front page, it sends me to a "dead" link.  You get redirected to the front page after a few seconds, so it's not a big problem, just a minor annoyance.

Other Collectibles / Master Replica Scaled Helmets
« on: March 20, 2007, 01:00 PM »
Looks like the MR exclusive at Celebration IV will be a Scaled Wedge Helmet.  I think it's a cool idea, but didn't Ridell already do the mini-helmet thing?

Regardless...if they make a Vader, it's mine.   ;D

I received an e-mail from MR recently that says this:

"Master Replicas is very excited to announce an alliance with The Medicom Toy Corporation, to distribute specific Medicom Toy products. Until now, many of Medicom Toy’s expertly crafted, highly sought-after Disney collectibles have not been made readily available outside of Japan. Now, Master Replicas and Medicom Toy have teamed up to bring you those collectibles you’ve been yearning for!
Currently, three products have been selected for distribution, with additional products to be announced as they are made available. The first three products will be:

“That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen.” Of course, the pirate in question is Captain Jack Sparrow, whose exploits in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, have become the stuff of legend. And now, Captain Jack is back as an authentic prop replica!
Just in time for 2006’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Master Replicas and Medicom Toy are pleased to offer this 12 inch tall Jack Sparrow figure, featuring a realistic likeness and authentic costume and weapons replicated from the film. Jack Sparrow is being released as a part of Medicom Toy’s coveted Real Action Heroes line, and will make a great addition to any 1/6 scale figure collection!

“What’s this? What’s this?” It’s Jack Skellington, star of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas as an authentic prop replica. Released in 1993, the first full-length, first stop-motion animated film ever created won critical acclaim and a huge following for its endearingly ghoulish characters and delightfully “twisted” visual style.

Jack stands nearly 18 inches high – the exact size used during filmmaking - and features 12 interchangeable soft vinyl heads and an internal brass armature, so you can pose the Pumpkin King for maximum spooky fun.

Released in 1991 and flying straight from the pages of Dave Steven’s graphic novel, The Rocketeer recreated the 1930s world of gangsters, spies and the beginning age of Aviation.

The authentic prop replica of the Rocketeer is 12 inches tall, fully articulated for maximum posing, complete with “replica” chewing gum on his rocket, and comes with his own stand.

Watto's Junk Yard / Computer Companies and customer service
« on: May 11, 2006, 04:40 PM »
I thought I'd share this little story with all of you and see if any of you have had any similar experiences with your computer(s).

About a year and a half ago, I purchased a laptop from HP.  The laptop I bought was fairly top of the line and quickly became an important tool in working towards my Masters degree as well as games and entertainment when the Air Force sent me TDY to california for 6 weeks for training, leave etc.

Unfortunately, I kept having display problems every few months.  The tech support people were very helpful and even though I would lose my laptop for about a week, they'd fix it and send it back to me no charge.  Unfortunately, I ended up having this problem yet again and my computer was out of the warranty.  Even thoough it was out of warranty, HP tech support said they would pick it up and fix it for free yet again, but after having this problem for the 4th time in 18 months, I was understandably not at all happy about it.

Luckily, my fiance works for HP and had access to this voice of the customer tool that tech support normally doesn't have.  She gave them all my information and in about 3 days, HP sent me a brand new laptop that is top of the line by today's standards and still have the great features of the 17" screen and full keyboard.

Bottom line of my story, even though I originally received a bit of a lemon for my original laptop, HP's customer service has been nothing short of outstanding and I'd probably buy another one.  I don't mean for this to sound like a great HP commercial or anything, but I was curious if anyone else had similar problems with either an HP computer or another brand and how well their experience with customer service/tech support has been.

Modern Trading / MR Darth Vader FX for trade!
« on: February 12, 2006, 05:44 PM »
Hey everyone, due to me not having the heart to tell my brother I already have an FX Darth Vader lightsaber from Master Replicas, I now have two.  I'm willing to trade one for ROTS Anakin FX or an FX Mace Windu.

I realize that this isn't the most traded item out there, but I thought I'd try trading before I tried selling.
