Title: Batman The Dark Knight
Post by: Brian on January 8, 2008, 08:50 AM
ToyNewsI (http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=view&album=DC+Comic+Toys%2FMovie_Master%2FBatman_Hyper_Figure&pic=Movie_Master.jpg&dispsize=600&start=0) has a pic up of one of Mattel's upcoming "Movie Master" figures for The Dark Knight.  Apparently, this new line (Movie Masters) will be the place to find upcoming DC movie figures, all in the 6" scale (although there might be 5" lines as well, as there will be with TDK I believe).  From what I've read, there will be 6 figures released this year for The Dark Knight, with a few chase versions thrown in.

I'll pass on the movie figures but its nice they are keeping them in the same scale and sculpted by the 4HM.

If you visit these forums (http://thecomiccrypt.com/viewtopic.php?t=4841) there is currently a scan up from Toy Fare showing the 6" scale Dark Knight Joker figure, as well as Batman and "Gotham City Thug" which have been seen previously.

Hmm, not my cup of tea but they are nice figures. I'll likely pass on them.  Thanks for the link.

Dammit, don't tell me they're only doing Scarecrow in that set. I just bought the TDK Movie Masters last week.

Although Target hasn't put their Dark Knight stuff out yet (that I've seen), it seems like the Movie Masters stuff (the 6" scale line) has sold through pretty quickly around here.  I grabbed a few of them when I was out looking for Indy stuff on the release day, and I've just seen the same Clown Thug/Goon figure on the pegs since then.  Anyways, these seem to be selling pretty well (or just not restocked at all).  Meanwhile, I think the 5"/cartoony stuff is sitting pretty well.

TRU is the only place around here that has gotten DCUC Wave 2, Target seems to have had it at one point (Electric Supes left), but otherwise has just had Wave 1 stuff.  I'm really looking forward to Wave 3 being released - that wave looks fantastic.

While i was out at Target for the Legacy and Clone Wars stuff i figured i'd try for the batman figures as well. NO luck with an unmasked or fear toxin batman but at least i got scarecrow.

I saw (and picked up) the Batman Begins Batman at Wal-Mart, but haven't had any other sightings of these lately.  I have seen all of them so far, aside from Scarecrow and the Fear Toxin Batman.  I don't think any store has had these in stock since the May release, aside from finding that BB Batman at Wal-Mart last week.  Nicely done figures though.

Is there much difference between the TDK and BB Batman figures ?

Picked up a Movie Masters Joker at Target. I was really surprised seeing it on the pegs.

Massive bump on this thread, but i picked up the Movie Masters 2-pack with maskless bruce wayne and gordan at Target today. It was (as were all the other DC figures) 50% off.

Found the TDKR Movie Masters at Wally in Iowa today.  Case is 6 figures, 3X Batman, 2X Bane, 1X Alfred.  NO Catwoman.  Bought Alfred.  Also had some basic comic booky figures... lame.

I stumbled upon a case of TDKR 3.75 inch figs at Wally last night. Terrible figures, unless you like unarticulated pieces of crap and/or Green Banes, Red Batmans, etc. Another "home run" from Mattel, and these will probably be clearanced out as fast as the Green Lantern line was.

I was really underwhelmed by these TDKR figures.  But it's really par for the course with this license, since they paved the way for ridiculous renditions of their main character in the name of selling more figures / making more money.  The only Batman that looks anywhere near appropriate is the Caped Crusader version.  And I haven't seen a Bane or Catwoman in that line that would draw you in.  PLUS there's not even any cardback art to let a collector or casual fan know what else is available in the line.

FAIL.

The figures dont look good in pictures and i am not impressed by the latest trailer. I may pick up Ras and Alfred if i see them but i am not planning on Bane or Catwoman.

It's crappy lines (for one of the year's biggest movies no less) like this that make the Star Wars team ask "why are we putting knee and elbow articulation in our figures?"

Thanks Mattel for producing yet ANOTHER p.o.s. toy line for a DC comics-based movie, lowering the bar even more for the 3.75" action figure scale...

I haven't seen the new stuff yet, but I have to agree on the mostly horrible lines that Mattel has put out for its DC movie lines.  Aside from the Movie Masters stuff (which is pretty nice), they really put out some junk for the most part.  I really wonder if it even sells to kids, aside from a Batman or something.

Saw a case of Movie Masters at Target- four Batmen, two Banes. Got Mattel'd on Alfred, which didn't surprise me.

In a few weeks they will be a dollar everywhere.

I found the Movie Masters at Target as well today.  They had one Bane, and three Batmen.  They look pretty nice.  The small scale stuff though, as mentioned, looks pretty awful.  All I saw on the pegs for those were several different (and colorful) versions of Batman.

I wonder if this can be counted in the Movie Masters line:

Well call me a hypocrite but I found the movie masters on sale and that was enough to confirm my desire for the by signal

I'm stunned actually that Ward figure even got approved.

Found the exclusive set with Bane and Batman at TRU.  Cool, but not $35 cool.  Apparently there's an exclusive Gordon at WM.  Sigh.

Yeah the bat signal part with Gordon is pretty cool, broken glass and axe.

Grabbed Alfred at K-mart. $16 was the price, but it rang up at $12.75. Not bad.

Found Alfred this weekend at a Wal-Mart, so I've got the first three I guess.  Other than Catwoman, who else is coming in this line?  I see that the build-a-Batsignal has six parts, so I figured there was another wave later on.  I have the Catwoman "wave" on preorder at BBTS, although the rest of that wave says Batman, Bane, and Alfred as well - so I may cancel.

BBTS has a figure listed as Blake and a secret figure, there is a rumor as to who it is, but dont want to say in case it is a spoiler.

I saw a new DK BP last night sitting on the shelves at Target. It has been opened and someone had blatantly ripped out the Catwoman figure and left the rest sitting there. Nice.

As always, good idea not packing all the main characters in the initial wave.  ::)

Went by TRU and they have an exclusive movie masters two pack of Bats vs Bane. Bats looks the same but with gold-ish copper-ish accents on his costume and what looked like a clothe cape. Bane look similar but without the coat and shirt. price was probably $25, I don't remember.

Check your Barnes and Noble for Catwoman Movie Masters. I found her at my local one. Also, TRU is starting to get the catwoman movie masters too, so keep an eye out for her.

I scavenged around to get the entire DKR collection for my son for his 9th birthday.  The goddamn piece of **** ************* bat signal doesn't even ******* work.  Gather up all those ******* piece of **** fuckass pieces together including Ra's Al Ghul, John Blake and Jim Gordon, put the pieces together, put the batteries in, and nada.

**** you, Mattel.  **** you in the ass with a clydesdale dick without lube or even spit.
