A lot of companies had their 4th qrtr and year end earnings announcement these last few weeks which makes me wonder whether this news is really about lines doing objectively better (selling more units) or whether the metrics Hasbro is using have been "right-sized"?

Its just speculation on my part, but I bet that if anyone where to look at the metrics they use to define success, you'd find that the bar has been lowered for Vintage (given the more targetted approach they are taking with this line), not to mention the price hike (and lack of pack-ins) adding additional per unit revenue.

I still think I live in the bizarro land for SW collecting.  I stopped back into the above mentioned KM and even though they had the AT-AT on sale for $75 I counted 10 on the sales floor.  Now they weren't anywhere near the Star Wars toys, they were down around the corner on a "Clearance" rack in the middle of the isle between the tools and dishware.

True.  And I'll be the first to admit that my experience is VERY anecdotal.  I haven't done a lot of shopping lately, so aside from this WM I think I've only been in one or two other stores that carry toys since Christmas.  So it could very well be that the people of Glenville NY that shop at Walmart just don't like skinny green spikey faced guys.  So my comments earlier may have been a bit strong in regards to the case ratios, and Wooof could be fine figure, but I don't think anyone thinks he's the equal of the Gammie in terms of quality or the demand for the figure.

But in my experience the figure is pegwarming and even if Walmart were to accidentaly do one of their localized fat-finger sales (I'm thinking the ones were through a glitch all SW figures get repriced to $4.00 for a week) the Sandies, and probably the clones, would clear out a lot faster than Wooof.

Basically if Hasbro really does have an A, B, C, etc. system for figuring out waves I think the Wooof is further down on that scale and I wish the cases that had come to the Glenville WM had been packed to reflect that.  Also Hasbro should've checked with me first.    ;D

I was at WM last night and the pegs were packed (with massive helmet clones and Woof).  Of the 60 TVC figures they had on the pegs 20 were Woof, about 15 were the ROTS clone, they had about 15 Sandtroopers, 5 Anakins and then a handful of Ackbar and Endor Rebels.

IIRC wasn't Woof packed at the same ratio as the Gamorrean Guard?  (Who I saw exactly once and didn't buy  :'(  )  I know Hasbro sends stuff out in fixed case ratios, but why, oh why, did they use the same ratio for those two?  I guess Hasbro could claim they didn't know how well the Gammy was going to sell, but Wicket was also at the same ratio and Hasbro knows that Ewoks (in most instances) sell pretty well.  I can't imagine that they thought Woof was going to be as popular.

Still, Woof was just striking to me because of it being a fairly obscure character (compared to the Clone and Sandtrooper) and being very well represented on the pegs, but even if Hasbro had packed that figure more lightly, there would still be white armored troopers just sitting in the store.

Yeah, she should be taxed on the income only once.  From what I've read it looks like income should be recorded on both state's returns, but credited on the state she is a resident in and taxed in the state which she earned the money.  (You'll recall how Al Franken ran into trouble during his Senate run because he had claimed all his income in the state where he was a resident, NY, so he had to file amended returns in all the states where he had collected income in previous years).

Turbotax's website has links to the Illinois forms for claiming a credit on tax paid in other states here


Rob, on Illinois' tax website they had the actual form.  On page 4 there is kind of a FAQ section that says the following:

What if I earn income in Iowa, Kentucky,
Michigan, or Wisconsin?
If you earned wages, salaries, tips, or other employee
compensation from an employer in Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, or
Wisconsin while you were a resident of Illinois, you are covered by
a reciprocal agreement between that state and Illinois and are not
taxed by that state on your compensation. However, you may be
taxed on other income.
If your employer withheld taxes or you paid tax to these states on your
compensation, you must claim a refund from that state. You may not
claim a credit on Schedule CR for that tax. You must fi le the appropriate
forms with that state to receive a refund of taxes withheld in error.
The reciprocal agreements do not prohibit subdivisions of these
states from imposing a tax on your compensation. For example, if you
were subject to tax by a city in Kentucky while you were an Illinois
resident, you may claim a credit for that local tax.
In addition, because of differences in state laws, you may be
considered a resident by one of these states and required to pay their
income taxes, even though you are an Illinois resident under Illinois
law. In that case, you may claim a credit for the taxes paid.

Not sure, but I think that means if the income was shown on a W-2 you only need to claim it in Illinois because of the agreement with Michigan.  Otherwise it looks like you should claim it in both states, but also claim the credit in Illinois for the tax paid in Michigan.

My Wife and I have watched most of two episodes (have there only been two so far?).  It feels like the show is missing something.  Maybe I'm just not getting it because it has something of a dark feel to it, or maybe I missed something from part of one of the episodes, but I'm not a fan.

Yeah, if they don't knock it out of the park with the interview episodes it will probably mark the end point of the show.

I'll admit I like a lot of crappy shows and dislike a number of shows that are widely popular, but the BBC Office was excellent in that most fans wished they had made more episodes and not fewer....

Kind of sad to here he's leaving sooner, but it does set up the interview process which should be entertaining.  BTW, if they are interviewing for his position AFTER he leaves, does that mean he leaves rather suddenly?  I hope they don't kill him off.

Todd Packer?  (or is it Packard?)

Dwight is going to want the power, but probably would be passed over.

Jim's best at being the reasonable one without the power to fix anything.

Darrell?  Is clearly competent enough to manage (he was the warehouse foreman since before the show started..)

The gangly guy from Saber, I can't recall his name...

Anyone else from the regular show cast that would obviously want the job and would actually be in a position to be considered?  Clearly they are going to have some non-regulars interviewing as well.

I too picked up the 9 pack for $12 and change.  I wasn't planning on getting this set, but its pretty hard to pass up figures at $1.33 a piece...  They didn't have any AT-ATs.  They did have the CW Cade Bane and IG Droid for $3 something, Mini Muggs for $3 something and then a mess of non-SW stuff.

My local WM was clearing out their very old LEGO sets and I picked up the Clone Walker battlepack for $5.50.  50% discount is pretty good for WM.

I also bought the motorized AT-AT at the local Goodwill for $35.  I guess it was a donated item, as opposed to overstock from a local store, as the instructions had some wear & tear and a couple pieces were missing.  It didn't have the snowtrooper, General Veers or Speeder-Luke and was missing a piece from a cheek gun and another from one of the feet.  I had similar or exact replacements for both in my loose LEGO collection from when I was little.  I have extra snowtroopers, Lukes and probably Veers from battlepacks, etc. I've picked up other times.

Both of my sons (2&4) LOVE the walking action!  They got such a big kick out of it when I was finally done building the set.  A great way to spend a snow day!

From what I recall the Hoth hangar had a distinctively different ground transport.  It was bulkier than the Yavin sled and the passengers sat inside it, as opposed to the Yavin sled which they sat on top of.

Its the grey blocky thing in the middle.  Its quite a bit different from the Yavin transport...
