New Target Exclusive (http://hasbro.com/starwars/pl/page.news/newsID.1F26D58B-D56F-E112-4162421C14A83EED/default.cfm)

Ooohhh.... I'll guess $15 plus tax. ::)
Seriously though, a General Grievous on fire? Unique and cool looking, but did we really need it? Especially for what it will cost? :-\
Oh well, put me down for my 2 to fufill my 1 loose, 1 carded disease. :P

I wonder if this is a retool of the exploding sculpt (#36)
-
Looks more like the preview scuplt to me.
Cool to see more '06 product, but can't say I'm super excited about it though. Funny that he's holding the gun that's causing him to explode into flames. ;)
-

Yeah, it would have been cooler if it was packed in with the #55 Pilot Obi-Wan
I don't think the legs are right to be the preview sculpt
-
None of the 2006 product really makes me say"I Need That!" I no longer need any of the core characters if they are not SA. I no longer need to buy any more figures of Yoda, Darth Vader, R2, Chewie or Boba Fett unless they somehow surpass the VOTC Versions. I no longer need a C3PO unless they give us one with articulated knees and elbows. I no longer will buy stuff they crap out like this exclusive. You have to work hard for my money from now on, Hasbro.
-

I thought the same thing when I saw that gun. I'm not overly excited about this either, but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. If its in the $13 to $15 range, which is most likely, I'll say count me out on this one. If it is somewhere in the ballpark of normal figure price, I'd probably pick one up though. Kind of neat looking, but not worth the "normal Target exclusive price" to me necessarily. It is nice to see something else from 06 though.
-
Since it utilizes the new saga card will he include a exclusive mini holo figure as well, hmmmm
-

It would be a good way for them to put out a General Grievous Mini-Holo; you might just be on to something there Jayson!
The more I look at this figure, the more he grows on me. I really didn't like the #36 Exploding General figure, so this will be a much nicer display piece for that scene on my SW Utapau shelf...
-
Hate it/ have to get it, damn :( ::)
Looks like Hasbro did include the fingers/hands he lost to the lightsaber earlier in the battle? If so good catch- looks like the case on the staff holding side, but can't tell on the gun arm yet :-\
-

Interesting… I wish they would make him more "bone" color rather than the "fresh from the showroom floor" look.
Or make his flames "light up" with the push of a button
-
I am glad it is a Target exclusive, that makes it more easier to pass on than a cheaper readily available one.
-
I think this is the beginning of the end for Hasblo. Looks like they are running out of ideas on there end and are trying to bleed the line with any existing mold they can reuse. With that said, i'll still take a couple since I am an exclusive completist. :P
-
Hey, if they are willing to give us a flaming GG, maybe they’ll give us a smoldering Ewok carcass from ROTJ ;D
-
Didn't we already get this figure? Oh wait, since he didn't ACTUALLY explode in the movie.... ::)
-
Since it utilizes the new saga card will he include a exclusive mini holo figure as well, hmmmm
If they do, I wonder if it will be random.
-
I'm not all that thrilled with the figure, but it's enough of a difference to not outright offend me. I'm in for two as another member of the carded/loose disease foundation.
I do like the card quite a bit. The silver and black classes up even cheap repaint/retool figures.
I can't see this figure doing as well as any of the exclusive clones, but more in line with the Lava figures. If so, hopefully Target will have the common sense to bring the price down.
-
Looks pretty cool to me. If it's in the $6 range, maybe I'll get it. If it's $15 like the rest, Hasbro and Target can forget about getting my $$$.
-
I think I have all the Grievous figs I'll ever need. The fact that this will probably be $12.99 pretty much seals the deal.
-
I'll pass on this and all other lame-ass, $17 dollar Target "Exclusives". :P
-
Its those "eye flames" which just look stupid to me. If those could come off...still not worth it really.
I don't mind a flaming sculpt, like the Ringwraiths from LOTR. A light's a decent gimmick for me, but, guess we won't get that here.
-
Um...nope.
-
I only like the fire on the figure, but that's really pulling me in. I guess I'll take one for the $15-$20 price tag. ::)
-
Too bad it's not a Walmart exclusive, I like their prices much better...
It's kind of a cool figure though I think. Will make for a pretty spiffy diorama scene. I'll get one.
:P
-
It's kind of cool for being very specific. I like it overall but I know the price I'm going to just despise. This, like Jeff said, will be anywhere in the $10 - $15 range I'm sure... Like everything else Target gets.
I do think it's kind of neat and surpasses the exploding Grievous in every way as far as looks. Love the fire effects, and he comes with the pike too which is cool.
Ones like this kill me though... I am cool with the Lava figures being left on card, but this figure I sorta want one opened to set with a Pilot Obi-Wan holding the pistol. I don't wanna buy 2 though so I'll most likely just get one and open it. Unless by some miracle Target decides to lower prices. Even if it was $8 or so I'd consider 2.
-
Hopefully after Hasbro sees that most of their LAva Reflection Anakins and Obi Wans have gone on clearance mostly because of the price this one will be around the price of the Separation of the Twins. If so I'll be picking one up. If its more than 8.00 then I'll pass.
-
As JediJayBird and I were talking about last night - this is an OK piece, but would have been 1,000,000 times better if the fire would light up!!!
-
This figure is the epitome of what exclusives should be IMO. A figure that I don't care if I ever have. ;D
Much like the Disco Trooper:
Stamping out bad dancing in a galaxy far, far away...
-
Too bad it's not a Walmart exclusive, I like their prices much better...
I know I got their exclusive Obi Wan and Bail w/ babies figures for $4.77 each, but Target charges 12.99!! I am definitely not buying this from Target they can go to hell.
-
Yeah but did the Twin Sets come with a $.05 plastic Clamshell with a sticker on it? Nope.
That'll be $12.99 please
-

True that....
-
That's not a bad point knashdx... I'd really like that actually and would consider the price a LITTLE more worthy... Not that we know the price, but let's face we DO sorta know the price we're about to get raped with.
-
Grievous' DPCI # has surfaced... Keep it handy if you need him, or if this is the figure you're considering the nail in the Target coffin, just ignore this entire thread then I guess. :)
087-06-0781 - Demise of General Grievous Exclusive Figure - $12.99
-

Would have made the $13 price point believable too (you know, believable that Target has to charge that much.)
-
And I needed a laugh today! :)
-
Hey, if they are willing to give us a flaming GG, maybe they’ll give us a smoldering Ewok carcass from ROTJ ;D
LOL... with special burnt Ewok flesh scent... like those old Stinkor and Mossman figs from the Master of the Universe!!
-
ROTFL, but back on topic, im supprised with the price hikes for all the other figures that target isnt raising theirs. Granted whod pay more then the arm we already gave them this year for the 6 exclusives!!!!

I'd buy a smoldering Ewok carcass. I'd army build with them. Really.
-
Are the Grevious' figures actually showing up in inventories yet? Or do we just have the DCPI now?
-
Rob, not yet I don't think, but I'd imagine we're not TOO far off now. Month or two maybe?

Bah! They can forget about it then. For $7 I probably would have bit. ::)

Another ..wait for clearance like the lava figs item? eh? :P
-
Another ..wait for clearance like the lava figs item? eh? :P
Yeah, I don't see this one flying off the shelves. I wonder if this will have an unofficial May street date?
-
Yeah, maybe I will be smart enough this time to wait until they head to clearance to buy my opener version. He's not a Clone, so I'm expecting him to sit like the Mustafar figures did.
I think he would sell pretty well with the kiddies, but when you consider that there will be at least two $7 General Grievous figures (Saga-030 and RotS Greatest Hits) out there at around the same time, I can't see many parents paying double to get this version instead.
I'll still most likely buy my carded version right off the bat since I lke those minty-mint, but I'm definitely going to try to wait this one out a bit until the clearance comes to grab my opener...
-
I won't buy this figure at full price. Period. When they can give me 5 clones with new paint in a cool box for 19.99, I say that is a great deal and will be first in line. 13.00 or more for a figure is ridiculous. Somebody's got to learn a lesson in economics, and it's either them or us.
-

That's the spirit, Dan! (http://cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a052.gif)
-
I will buy this figure for full price because I have "Battered Spouse Syndrome"
At least this exclusive was in the movie. It's getting harder to say that with a lot of the figures (esp. clones) over the past year.
;)
-
Nothing in our inventory yet. I'm passing on this fig. I'll probably pick one up for Jamie if he wants it. The scalpers at my store will hoard these up but I think over time they will sit.
-
Looks like the e-tailers are starting to get this one in stock from foreign sources!
Might be time to break out that DCPI Number and see what you can find...
087-06-0781 - Demise of General Grievous Exclusive Figure - $12.99
-
Interesting...it has the same foil SW logo as the UGH figures...a ploy to get the HW guys to bite!
-
I think it's safe to say that this one isn't going to fly off the shelves.
-
I'd like to have a couple, but not for $13 a crack.
-
I'd actually like one opened and I'm trying to keep carded exclusives now and then, but man the price... this thing has to sit, I mean, it's really no better than the lava figs, so I am going to maybe try waiting on this.
It's different, but still those Lava figs sat and sat... This thing has to.
-
I predict (famous last words) this will end the $13 exclusive fig. At least at retail. You can't justify it, unless speculators mistake it for the UGH thing.
-
I thought that the Lava Obi and Ani would be the end of the $13 figure. Those things sat until they hit clearance at half price.
It all depends on the subject matter - Lava Vader and the two Clones were never found in my area (by me personally).
I think Greivous will sell*. He's a bad guy, is technically a new figure (with the newly tooled flames) and has pretty cool packaging that resembles the UGH look.
*Famous last words.
-
I wish i had stores where the exclusives sat in clearance prices. Here in the NY/NJ area, nothing ever lasts that long. :-\
-
I think it's safe to say that this one isn't going to fly off the shelves.
Hah! Not only is it going to grow wings and fly off the shelves, but people will be frantically trying to find employees with DCPI #'s in hand to grab them from the back. Before they even have the opportunity to fly off the shelves, they'll be flying out of the stockroom. It'll be an impressive sight for sure for a 2"-too-short piece of **** that's two times too expensive.
-
True. It was the like the shadow troopers. I saw all these "collectors" giving employees a hard time so they go back into the stockroom. When you have to do that then you should know this is no longer a hobby but rather a pathethic addiction. ::)
I can live without this figure. I do not have the shadow trooper and I am still alive!
-
**** Greivous, what the hell is Dressel doing here?
:D
-

I may have been absent in my physical form, but I was always here in spirit :D

:)
Seriously though, the Lava figures were weird. They definitely sat... Some ShadowTroopers sat around here too (or so I have heard, I didn't see them out in my local area but others did get Shadows on clearance at a couple Targets out here). I think Grievous, if produced heavily, may actually sit...
I think the Lava figs caught people off guard... I got mine on sale thankfully. The ShadowTrooper I actually liked. I'd love an army of him actually, but alas that ain't gonna happen.
I could see Grievous gathering some dust... I don't think it'll end anything. I think Target has it set in their heads that they can do this, and thus they will. I'm going to get mine early (safe than sorry), but hang onto the receipt and see if I catch these backing up around the stores. If that's teh case, back he goes and clearance time.
-
This thing's out now (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=1778902&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1)...
-
They definitely sat... Some ShadowTroopers sat around here too
Shadow Troopers? Sitting? I never saw them at my Targets!
-
They definitely sat... Some ShadowTroopers sat around here too
Shadow Troopers? Sitting? I never saw them at my Targets!
I bought four of them on clearance for $6.48 each.
-
Well I have some(black Target troops) extras for non-clearance rate if anyone wants to PM me? :-\
-
Look at the correct scale of Grievous to a battle droid. Hasbro has Grievous equal in height to a battle droid; however, in the movie, Grievous has to be squatting WAY down to be as short as a battle droid.
Hasbro's Grievous figures all suck big time.
-
Oh well. Grievous is one character I don't care much about. Underscaled Wookies and Vader are terrible, though.
-

Lucky bastard. >:( Northern VA scalpers are the worst.
-
That's a really good pic to use. I think that the TSC version goes a long way to correct paint inaccuracies from the ROTS release, but damn, yeah, it's way too short. He really needs a vTSC/OTC style figure with a soft goods cloak and some upgraded articulation as well as height correction. He needs some sort of neck socket to mimic that hunch, and a ton of additional joints in the legs.

-
Keep in mind that he stands that way though.
-
On an accuracy note, I just got the "Chronicles: The Prequels" book and noticed that on the size comparison chart, Grievous is the same height as Chewbacca.
I've always said that Grievous (and possibly his bodyguards) have been severely underscaled in their various incarnations, and now I have actual proof! They need to do a deluxe three pack with VOTC/VTSC styled Grievous (as Jared suggested) and two differently painted IG-100s, also with super articulation and soft goods capes. Throw in some properly scaled staffs (or, as the Clone Wars Animated Team refers to them, "fart sticks") with the lightsaber-esque bulb ends, and we all win!
Unforunately, given Hasbro's offerings this year in terms of originality and their ability to, you know, actually get the product to the stores in a decent amount, such a thing would be a pipe dream.
-
He's the size of Chewie?!! Good lord. I'd be in for a properly scaled one, then. And make him so his arms detach from each other. That would be sweet.
-
Yeah.
I guess I can see it now.
Dwarf Grievous. :P
-
I don't understand how Hasbro could have possibly dropped the ball on six different Grievous figures. Six times. Preview, 4-armed, exploding, deluxe, Coruscant, and now the Target exclusive. Earth to Hasbro...I didn't buy the first 5 midget pieces of Grievous ****, and I am most certainly not paying double for your newest piece of underscaled ****. No ******* way. At what point in Star Wars did anyone at Hasbro see Grievous to be anything but a HUGE, TOWERING, MASSIVE presence. You guys say he's at least as tall as Chewbacca in some books, and he is even bigger in the movie and cartoons.
Here he is almost twice as tall as Ki-Adi Mundi:
Here, look at the size of him across the shoulders as opposed to his magna guards:
Again from above, when standing straight up, at least another 50% taller he should be as opposed to a battle droid:
For ****'s sake even the Galactic Heroes have him much bigger and taller than Obi Wan:
So, at what point did Hasbro decide to scale Grievous almost as short as Obi Wan on six separate occasions?? :
-
Great points Dressel. I had been brainwashed by Hasbro into thinking that Greivous was the same size as his human counterparts.
How cool would a new figure be that is the same height as Chewie?
-
I just picked up one of these today and it's kinda cool. I can see it inspiring a whole new line with;
Demise of Darth Maul (obviously)
Demise of Count Dooku
Demise of Mace Windu
Demise of the Emperor
Demise of Qui-Gon-Jinn
Demise of R2-B1
Demise of Corde`
Demise of Padme

The Lava figures were big-time pegwarmers at my Targets... I think they would've done waaayy better if they used the Pilot Obi and Evo Anakin sculpts.

Thats been an exclusive since April 2005...
-
I have to admit, this is much better looking in person. But I don't know if it's opener material.
-
demise of coleman trebor with 'falling off outlook playset'.
The grievous does look better in person ;still wish he 'grew' a little. Picked up a couple today.
-
Demise of Ewok # 51 or Kentucky Fried Ewok
Demise of Dack, Crushed snowspeeder the shape of an AT-AT footprint.

yes....yes! Demise of Dak. We could get a flattened 1/4" thick 'wafer fig' with x's for eyes and tongue hanging out! I guess roadkill DOES happen in a galaxy far far away(even though technically he was probably already 86'd before the stomp)
-
I'm just not excited about this Grievous figure... too pricey and I really don't think the fire effects look too good, at least not for that price. I'm probably in the minority here but I think an Unleashed at this scale would work better for "extreme" scenes like this.
:)
-
I was able to pick up a few Demise of Grievous figures tonight and something caught my eye.
On clamshell, there is a Hasbro logo, a Lucasfilm logo and a KENNER logo embossed on the back side. I wonder why Kenner got thrown back into the mix?
-
I was wondering about that as well. Maybe there's something else coming down the pike that will use the clamshell?
-
It's the same clamshell for the VTSC figs....maybe they just wanted to save production time so they just stamped it on everything. I mean..isn't the Kenner logo on the VTSC as well?
-
Nope, the clamshells are very different actually. Grievous has the TSC style/shaped card while the VSTC figs have the "vintage" retangluar cards.
-
The DOGG clam shells are also thicker.
-
yes, I just looked at mine..correct!

Who the hell wants an army of 8, $25, 1 1/2"-too-short Grievous figures?
I don't even want one of these figures. Not until they sculpt it to a correct height.
Geez, it's not like it's a case of clones or something. So stupid.
-
With the Shadow Stormtrooper shipping with a Chrome UGH style base, I would have liked this figure to have been accessorized in the same way.
Perhaps it's the one I got to open, but mine is having great difficulty being able to stand on its own, so I had to put it on a base. Since this figure had a UGH sticker on the packaging, it should of had a UGH chrome base - especially with the $13 price tag.
