Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Your commute... How bad does it suck?

40 min here.  Rural to the edge of the city.  I used to work right downtown, which I hated.

Traffic, expensive parking etc. etc.

Now it is much better.  I actually enjoy my drive as it lets me unwind a lot before I get home.

All my work anger is lost on loud music along to road!

Thank goodness for Safeway and they're $0.07 off coupons :)

You have a place that gives you gas discount coupons???

Man, I wish we had that in Ottawa :(

Gas prices suck all over!!

What gets me the most is the constant and drastic changes in the price.

$0.10 from the price it was in the morning.

Here is Ottawa we have banded together.

There is a web site (you can view it on your WAP enabled mobile phone too)  www.ottawagasprices.com

You can go there and find the lowest reported prices across the city.

Kinda neat, but relies on people reporting low prices.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A thread about concerts.
« on: August 26, 2003, 02:05 PM »
Thank God! my kids are no longer into the Wiggles!

I havn't been to that many concerts but recently I got to see Springsteen @ Giants Stadium.

Being a life long Bruce fan, but never being able to see him in concert, this was definitely a dream come true!!

We have relatives in NJ, so we all went down there this summer, and they treated us (Nadine and I) to the concert.

It was awesome!

Being that close to NYC while he sang Empty Skies was definitely moving, there were people in the croud in tears.

I will never forget it.

Recently I found some of my childhood GI Joe Club membership items.

Belt, and first newsletter, where I got to choose my rank, and create my code name.

Looking at it now, all I can think of is Pulp Fiction...

Long story short, if you get an email like this:

APPEAL FOR URGENT BUSINESS ASSISTANCE IN YOUR
COUNTRY.

Dear Friend,

Permit me to inform you of my desire of going into
business relationship with you. I am Victor Strasser, the only son of
late Mr. and

cocoa
merchant in Abidjan , the economic capital of Ivory
coast, my father was poisoned to death by his business
associates on one of their outings on a business
trip.

My mother died when I was a baby and since then my
father took me so special. Before the death of my
father on January 2001 in a private hospital here in
Abidjan he secretly called me on his bed side and told
me that he has the sum of Eight million, five
hundred thousand United State Dollars. US($8.500,000)
left in fixed/suspense account in one of the prime
banks here in Abidjan ,that he used my name as his
only son for the next of Kin in depositing of the
fund. He also explained to me that it was because of
this wealth that he was poisoned by his business
associates. That I should seek for a foreign partner
in a country of my choice where I will transfer this
money and use it for investment purpose such as real
estate management or other wise and profitable
investment.

Sir, I am honourably seeking for your assistance in
the following ways:

(1)To provide a bank account into which this money
would be transferred to .

(2)To serve as a guardian of this fund since I am

only 19 years without investment knowledge.

(3) To make arrangement for me to come over to your
country to further my education and to secure a
resident permit in your country.

Moreover, sir I am willing to offer you 15% of the
total sum as compensation for your EFFORT/INPUT after
the successful transfer of this fund Into your
nominated account overseas while 3% will be maped out
for any expenses we may incure.

Furthermore, please indicate your options
towards assisting me as I believe that this
transaction would be concluded within Seven working
days you signify interest to assist me.

Anticipating to hear from you soonest.

Thanks and God bless.

Sincerely yours,
Victor Strasser.

Just ignore it!!  Apparantly though they have scammed over 9 Billion dollars so far appealing to people's greed!!

I hear you on that one man.

Last year I sold a cell phone to one guy, shipped it COD, and paid extra for signature.

$%^&#ing mailman just drops it off, and doesn't pick up the $200!!!

Luckly the buyer was honest and told me, otherwise I would have had a hell of a time to sort it all out!!

And no worries on our deal Dale, I am sure it will all work out eventually. ;-)
