Collect All 92! / Re: Klaatu
« on: September 24, 2011, 05:05 PM »
I want that Wooof figure. Now.  ;D

Loved the vintage Klaatu. Heck, I love all of Jabba's vintage goons, although Klaatu in his puffy jogging suit was my least favourite. The head sculpts of Klaatu, Weequay, Nikto and Barada were impressive, still are.

The skirt of Klaatu is indeed a very fine achievement by Kenner. But truth be told, Kenner knew how to make those work.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: My Yakfinites entry!
« on: September 24, 2011, 02:13 AM »
Late to the party, but nevertheless wanted to chime in and give some feedback. That's a good looking figure, OP. I like the choice for the arms a lot. Paint apps look tidy and clean. Kudos for changing Koon's mask, makes this one stand out more.

As the last known person to travel with Pimpy, I vow to FINALLY get around to posting my pics this week.

So two years later, where are the pictures? ...and the purple pimp daddy for that matter?

In hiding, no doubt. That's what he's good at  :)

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
« on: September 23, 2011, 04:37 PM »
That's GG's statue of Malgus, right? Saw some close up pics of it and man, am I disappointed. Well, not just after seeing the close ups, but the statue just is disappointing for me. He looks way too slick and the headsculpt looks just weird. The wrinkles look way off and the Sith (read: Goth) make up on the eyes is too thick.

Any of you follow Sithfire's work? If not, check out his version so far of Malgus over here (scroll way down and you'll see him). And that's 4" of detailed madness.... Imho much better than the statue.

On the game: huge pass for me, because I am so not into MMORPGS (did I spell that right?). The trailers though. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. It's what TCW should've been. Not that I hate TCW, I watch every episode, but still.

I do have confidence in the whole LA/Bioware collaboration though. It should and hopefully will work. It's just not my type of game.

As for the look and feel: yeah it's all about recognition for the masses. I like my Old Republic really old and obscure. Like Tales of the Jedi. That's what the Old Republic is for me.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Street Fighter 4-inch figures!!!
« on: September 23, 2011, 04:24 PM »
Oh  :( Well, saves me some money then  :) I've seen wicked cust... er... kustoms of MK characters, in Marvel Legends scale as wel as 1:18 scale. Would've been super to have a couple of guys like SZ, Scorpion, Rayden and the likes.

Hmm, not to my liking. Too.... cartoony, I guess.

Mortal Kombat you say? For real? That could be something, if done in a cool realistic style....

Star Wars Dioramas and Displays / Re: ROTJ mini: weeping Rancor Keepers
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:07 AM »
You know, I believe the first artpiece I saw from you, Greg, was the mini-dio of Han hanging in Jabba's palace. Back then I thought it couldn't get any better. But now I can't believe how you keep impressing the hell out of me everytime you post a new project from start to finish.

You're a man with OT blood running through his veins and it shows everytime!

Very cool new stuff there. I need to check more often.

Thanks Phruby! I need to update more often. But I'm a guy who's quick to start and slow to finish, so there's quite a few WIPs on the table, in various states of progression  ::)

Collect All 92! / Re: Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit)
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:00 AM »
Not only was there a saber colour variant, but there was also one with the snap-on cloak. I like the sewn version more, but have both. Don't know if I have the blue saber version, without checking.

Jedi Luke's a cool figure. Dark clothes, serious expression. Yeah, he was out for his Revenge.... Return. Whatever :)

The vintage one is a favourite of mine. Again a textbook example of how to make soft goods work. Eerie guy too, more so than his modern counterpart.

Collect All 92! / Re: Cloud Car Pilot
« on: September 23, 2011, 09:55 AM »
Cloud Car Pilot has a funky outfit, distinguishing him from the rest. He was always ready to disco! And that drinking er.... saluting arm was weird, but again a nice variety.

I have Kenner's and the OTC and VTC one. Like Darth_Anton, I like the OTC one that much better.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Welcome to the Jungle Gn'R Fan Club
« on: September 23, 2011, 07:13 AM »
GnR, loved them back in the day, but I agree it's a shame everything fell apart. Sure, the sound and performance of the 'new' band will be great, but it just wouldn't feel right you know.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything Rebelscum
« on: September 23, 2011, 07:08 AM »
Time to let go of the Rebels and go back to JD and hopefully get the customizing section in full effect again.

Please do. I miss seeing your stuff.

Er... I updated my thread some time ago already, Phruby  :)

I have frequented there less and less over the years, but find the new forum to be a step back.  I'll probably spend even less time there.

A few years ago, for a short period I refrained from visiting RS, but have been an active user for some time again. I mostly visit the customizing sections (which have always been maintained in a poor manner has always had a design not to my liking) and the classifieds. In fact, I made most forum deals with RS members.

I'm with Chewie on this, though. Well, let the Wookiee win, eh? But seriously, I agree with him. This ridiculous Editing rule really does it for me. As a customizer, and one who likes to show in-progress pictures, editing your initial post(s) is well.... vital. The same goes for classifieds. I know, you can still edit your first post in that section, but a lot of people split up their wants and haves in first and second posts to make things clearer.

Come to think of it, I can't think of any other forum, except TFN, that doesn't allow post-editing....

Time to let go of the Rebels and go back to JD and hopefully get the customizing section in full effect again.

EDIT: chose some wrong words to express my thoughts and rephrased them  :-\ Again, no harm intended.
