This showed up over at RS (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=4010460)

If your standing or drinking, sit down and put that drink down because this vehicle looks really impressive!

WOW, they actually made that look aggressive. Willrow will look sweet flying in that thing to battle the Empire.

That looks very nice.  About time they got around to doing this.  Kind of dissapointed they had to tweak it, but I still dig it.  Two for me please - if it pans out.   :)

I half wonder if it's going to show up in the Clone Wars with all the weaponry on it.  Just kidding but I am happy they found a creative way to get it out to those that wanted it.  It looks like the guns and stuff will be hidden if you don't want them out.  I am looking forward to the break apart feature even though of course it did not blow up in the film.  Anyway, it's a nice surprise.

This would be a nice surprise if it pans out, and it does fit in with the 30th Anniversary of ESB.  Hasbro keeps saying they have "big things" in store for collectors, and maybe this plays a part in that.  This is one of the only made OT vehicles (vintage or modern) that I'm still missing some version of, so I'd be quite happy if this sees release.  I saw these pics on Yakface this morning, along with a possible new Snowspeeder (which has been rumored/confirmed) that I'm really looking forward to as well.

Gah, looks like it's time to track down some OTC Cloud Car Pilots. ;)

I knew there was a good reason I bought 4 of them back in the day.  Yes I'm aware the vintage cloud car is cheap on eBay, but I've just been lazy waiting for H to get around to this.

New CC?  I'm very happy to see it considering they always said "no" to this.  Interesting looking for sure how they beefed it up, and that all appears to "hide" nicely.  the original CC's decently scaled but a snivvit oversized.  This looks to be pretty well perfectly scaled though, just eyeballing it.

I'm VERY happy about this. At least 2 for me!

Good on ya Hasbro. Now please don't make us wait for freakin' ever to get it. Or worse, find it amongst 4 figure waves at the same time like this and last year.

I am down for two of these to accompany the Falcon the clouded Funktown.
Title: Re: Cloud Car 2010 (RUMOR)
Post by: Nicklab on December 4, 2009, 06:18 PM
Hasbro actually addressed the Cloud Car recently in the Q&A sessions.  Almost to the point of shooting down a modern version with this response to Raving Toy Maniacs (http://www.toymania.com/news/messages/11699.shtml).  It almost seems like they might have been trying to throw collectors off the scent.

I actually like the hidden weapons features.  I think it makes the Cloud Car a more interesting vehicle.  And the seperating pods seem like a cool play feature for the kiddies.  Provided they buy the thing!

Wow.  Never in a million years did I think this was going to happen.  Good for Hasbro, and a neat way to make this 'cool.'

Neat. And here I thought they'd just rerelease the original mold. It looks great; can't wait to pick one up.  :)
Title: Re: Cloud Car 2010 (RUMOR)
Post by: Jesse James on December 5, 2009, 02:23 AM
I believe Hasbro at one point said the original mold is toast...  One of those things that just didn't survive the years I guess.

It was a solid item but this is much better.

We've got a much larger, and more detailed gallery of the prototypes posted on our front page...  Feel free to check them out:

(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/10Hasbro_CloudCarProto3Loose_TN.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1260001144,50282,)
Clicky to check it out.

The CC looks really fantastic...  I can picture it without the missles in the center, haha.  That item makes me wonder if we'll see an update to the CC pilot as well?

Wow.  Never in a million years did I think this was going to happen.

No wonder after Hasbro continually stated that the were never going to do it.

My sentiments exactly.  Kudos Hasbro!
Title: Re: Cloud Car 2010 (RUMOR)
Post by: Darby on December 5, 2009, 11:02 AM
It's clear now that when Hasbro says they're never going to do something (Sarlacc Pit - "It's a hole in the ground!" - Cloud Car) - "it doesn't do anything!" - they do it fairly soon after.  Sail Barge..?  I doubt that myself, but man.  This is cool.
Title: Re: Cloud Car 2010 (RUMOR)
Post by: Jesse James on December 5, 2009, 11:55 AM
This is really the big shocker for me...  I know they always said, "well if we could find a way to make it more aggressive...", which they did, but I didn't think they were even going to try actually.

It looks very accurate to me...  Lots of detail, so I'm real excited to see two small OT vehicles done, seemingly, exactly right.  This was maybe my 2nd favorite item from the proto images.

I've never been a vehicle guy but for some reason i have the vintage one and i plan to buy this one.

Post by: tmanthegreat on December 5, 2009, 09:49 PM
This looks cool 8)  I'm not sure I like the pop-out missiles too much, but that is certainly not a deal-breaker and adds a lot of functionality to the model.  I got a vintage Cloud Car last year in an ebay auction with two of the Saga Cloud Car pilot figures.  That is a pretty accurate tooling itself, but this one seems more fun.  I'll be down for it should it come out.

Yeah this is probably one of the biggest surprises I gotta say...  I was talking with some locals this weekend and we were all sort of shocked that a CC has come about, despite pretty distinct comments to the contrary from Hasbro...  well, for years really.

I'm down for two.  I believe that they're commonly seen in pairs and I figure a pair escort the Falcon so I may hang them beside it for display.

I surpise that they are finally doing the cloud car, I brought the vintage one thinking that they would never do one.  oh well.  what is next ?  Sail Barge  ::)... Death Star  ;) (never going to happen)

Nice rendition of Bespin Cloud Car, perhaps it will be a $ 40 vehicle.

But at this price it will be a superb addition to our OTC collection.

I'm sure all of the new vehicles shown will be in the mid-sized assortment.

CONFIRMED (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2009/12/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-21.html) for the mid-size vehicle line, Fall 2010.  :)

1. Things have been awfully quiet on the mid-sized vehicle line. We got a couple of great new additions this past summer (still loving the Droid Tank), but nothing since then. Any chance that you can spot us a couple of hints on upcoming starfighters/ships we'll see on the shelves this Spring?

** Unfortunately, there won't be any new ones this Spring. The Starfighters are doing well, but the new wave that was planned for Spring won't make it out at this point and has been pushed out to Fall '10. When the new assortment starts up, it will be chock full of newness. We can confirm that both the new Snowspeeder and a new Cloud Car will be in the line. Stay tuned for official looks at this at Toy Fair.

Yeah... Darryl and his "aggressive" mandate  >:(.  The tall cockpit hatches look good though.  I'm peeved that the engine grille has been ruined with missiles and a separating feature.  I think I'll skip this one in favor of my vintage slight custom.
Title: Re: New Legacy Cloud Car - confirmed for Fall 2010!
Post by: efranks on January 2, 2010, 02:19 PM
I don't care for the missiles in the center section but the rest seem like they'll be okay.  If I get one I'll just leave those missiles out of the center.  One thing that that will piss me off, though, is if after all the screaming for a new CC, people pass on this.  You can get a vintave one for $20 or less shipped most of the time.

I think people just ask for new because they're consumers more than collectors and want that fix of buying something at Target or Walmart rather than working to add something by shopping eBay or whatever.  But that's one of my pet peeves and a rant for another day.

Well, if it was actually a Cloud Car, and not a Cloud Aggressor, I'd absolutely buy one.  I don't remember missiles coming out of every section of the vehicle.  This looks like a Transformer!
Title: Re: New Legacy Cloud Car - confirmed for Fall 2010!
Post by: Jesse James on January 2, 2010, 03:15 PM
I'll just leave the missles out, basically.  Scale between the vintage and this one looks about the same...  The gear on this one leaves the vehicle lower, and isn't as large/bulky (IE: more realistic) so I'm liking that.  I don't care for all the weaponry either though for sure.

I just plan to leave it all off the vehicle though.  I'm just glad they're actually doing one.  The cockpit looks fantastic, lots of detailing...  I'm pretty happy to get it.

I like it.  Especially the way most of the weapons can be "hidden" like Grievous' fighter or even the other Jedi Starfighters.  It will look close to the film versions and still have some play value.

Now we'll just need pilots for it.   :D

Liking the new pics.  I didn't see "the hood" on the Cloud Car pods in the previous photos, but it's clear in these.  I wonder if it'll be some kind of engine compartment or some kind of storage.

Post by: Daigo-Bah on January 3, 2010, 08:08 PM
By the way, the "Aggressor" name was mine, not an actual Hasbro name  ;).  I called it that due to the number of places weapons have been placed on a relatively weapon-moderate vehicle.  But I should reserve judgment for final pics with everything hidden and removed.  My problem is that they think "kids" will only buy aggressive weapons-heavy vehicles, but I think kids aren't going to be interested in this at all.  This is a vehicle for us, the older collectors.  If they send 2-4 of these to each store, it should sell off pretty well (assuming there are at least that many collectors in a given average city).  But bombard stores with tons, and they're going to sit.
Title: Re: New Legacy Cloud Car - confirmed for Fall 2010!
Post by: Jesse James on January 3, 2010, 11:35 PM
I agree, I don't think kids are real interested in this at all Greg.  They could add a tactical nuke to it, and short of packing in a Clone I'm not sure kids will give a care on this one.

All I know is that I'm BUYING this one. I need 2-3 of them. I don't mind the extras, so long as they are concealable. I actually LOVE the idea of the pods being able to break apart.

I hope this is a $20 ship and no more. If so as mentioned I'll happily buy 2-3 of them. If it's $25, then only two. Any higher and it will be a one shot purchase for me. I can't justify anything more than $25 for this. And Hasbro won't convince me otherwise. Much as I'm looking forward to it, doesn't mean I need to pay through the teeth to have it.

Hasbro has confirmed this will be in the regular starfighter assortment, so you can expect to pay in the $20-25 range (unless, of course, we get more price hikes next summer  :P).

CONFIRMED (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2009/12/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-21.html) for the mid-size vehicle line, Fall 2010.

I thought I'd call it quits with the AT-ST, but the new Cloud Car (and Snowspeeder) have be back in the game.  I like all the features and the realistic looks.  Too bad we have to wait until the fall again, but at lest they are confirmed!

This thing is INSANE, and if you haven't checked out our Hasbro galleries on the front page, you should check it out for the details.

I was simply floored by the Cloud Car.  I wasn't that big into it, but was happy to nab a couple I figured.  Silly me, this thing is a work of art.  Maybe one of the best vehicles in this range they've ever done.  I was really that amazed at the detail.  I liked the opening hood for engine detail.  Nothing but simply engine detail...  No guns, nothing spiffy like rockets.  Just opening hoods to show its engine off.

The cockpit had a really loaded detail and paint aps to boot...  This one, despite the weaponry, was made for collectors largely.  People really should be excited about it.  I'm up to 3 now that I want.  I really hope for a McQuarrie repaint too.

I'm really hoping the OTC Pilots are going to fit in this. I picked up a couple of them, in the vain hope they would one day release a cloud car, it would be good to see that long term purchase pay off!  They've mainly been standing around chewing the fat with each other for the last four years, but for some reason they also look really cool having their clocks cleaned by Bossk.

After seeing the new CC Pilot with a mustache I am really digging the idea of having a stache pilot in each side of the car protecting Cloud City. They will bring back a lot of memories of G.I.Joe, as most of the pilots back then had Magnum style mustaches. I have to admit though I like the outfit on the OTC one better but the stache trumps all of that hands down.

I put in an order for the Cloud Car and Snowspeeder at TRU.com earlier today using their "Buy One, Get One 50% Off" sale, but, quite frankly, I'd be shocked if I didn't get an email saying that the items are no longer available, OR if TRU sends me something entirely different than what is advertised and I wind up having to return it (which is what happened to a friend with some BSG figures she ordered on TRU.com last fall).  This rash of new stuff showing up as in-stock on TRU.com seems too good to be true to me, and I'll be curious how many orders, if any, actually get fulfilled in the short-term.

I picked this up on friday and I really like it.

The OTC pilots fit in fine. I was surprised by the side missiles, I thought they were going to pull out like the ones on Grievous's fighter, but as it turns out the pods just slide in towards the middle revealing them. The fold out diorama it comes with, is actually very nice as well.

Found this the other day at TRU.  I have an orignal vintage version and now the new one.  Naturally, the new tooling goes well beyond the old one in terms of detail and functions.  The cockpits and opening avionics bays are my favorite features, as is the accurate paintjob.  I do not like the "splitting" feature and the missiles are too toyish for me.  The original version has less obtrusive landing gear as well.  Overall, however, its a great new vehicle :)

Really great tooling, accept for the landing gear. They really take away from it, at least to me - the fact that they don't stow all the way in the vehicle and that they are dainty.

An interesting picture of the TPCC...

I held the toy up, compared to this photo on my PC screen, and it matches it almost perfectly, detail for detail, right down to having the TVC pilot in the left pod, and the OTC Pilot in the right pod.

Why would anyone do this?  Well, I saw some question regarding its scale...  To me, this thing's pretty flawless.  Maybe one of the most accurate things ever.  Wookieepedia says it should be 7 meters long, but I think that measurement is probably another case of inaccuracy from past reference materials that has carried over.

Nice find on the picture. I have two of these and I have two TVC Stash Pilots in one and two OTC pilots in the other. I will swap to match the above picture. That's some nice attention to detail and a great find. I love this ship and the Snowspeeder, it's so nice to have OTC ships in the Starfighter assortment I hope we get more:

Repaints of the Snowspeeders
A-Wings
Tie Fighter Tank
Lars Speeder (with flip out Womp Rat Blasting Cannons)
Lukes Skyhopper

The TIE Crawler tank would be a behemoth I think for this line...  It'd be much more at home in a larger format I think.

Luke's Skyhopper would be nice, if they did away with the ejection escape craft.

Skiff redo...which IIRC, they've shot down in q&A's...not having enough kid appeal or something...well, they made the cloud car...so.

And my pipe dream, Imperial troop transporter.

Yeah I'd love a bigger Skiff...  We've got enough figures now that they have a tough time holding everyone.  I'd love to see it done to-scale.  Flip-out cannons and stuff, fine, just so long as it's to-scale. :)

The Imperial Troop Transport and Skiff are great Choices! I forgot about those.

Holy ****, are you serious?  $40?

Isn't that even high for up yonder in the wilderness?

These mid size vehicles have been $34.99 at TRU in Canada for a few years.  I can't believe those dicks raised the price even more.  >:(

Yup, as Jesse(V) said they were at $34.99 for a long time (plus 7-15% tax depending on where you are) which was ridiculous in and of itself.  It's part of the reason I seem to keep fading from buying stuff anymore (along with that whole lack of space issue).  I'm just not willing to drop twice what you can pick it up for in the US.
