Title: Previews/Diamond Comics Bounty Hunter 7-Pack
Post by: Brian on July 11, 2005, 11:35 AM
TheJawa.com (http://www.thejawa.com/nuke/) has a report up that there is a Diamond exclusive multipack on the way called "Hunt for the Millennium Falcon"...it includes Vader, Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, Zuckuss, 4-LOM, and IG-88.  Although all repacks of course, it is a nice idea, and something that probably could have/should have been done during the OTC hoopla.  You can visit the link above for more, and check out some pictures of it HERE (http://www.r2dtoys.com/productimages/bountyview.jpg).

Is that the Saga Bossk or the POTF2 one?

Looks like POTF2 to me.

I'm all over the Temple Raid pack.  The Hoth Attack can bite my ass.

Very interesting... a year too late?  Or maybe the rumors of the OTC's return are going to pan out?

Either way, I'm going to pass on this box full of re-packs! (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/Themes/classic/images/post/thumbdown.gif)

Thanks for moving this Jeff...better fit here.  It is a neat set, and great for those who might not have the Bounty Hunters yet, but it might have made a nice piece during the initial OTC run as well (at retail even).  I actually don't have a 4-LOM or Zuckuss, but was waiting (hoping) for a single carded re-release or resculpt.  I might still wait for that, because I don't really need doubles (or triples) of some of the others contained in that set.  It would probably be cheaper to pick up loose POTF2 versions if I wanted to go that route.  Anyways, it is a neat set, and one that many of us have discussed for a long time now.  It always did make sense, and I guess it is nice to see it coming for people who are looking forward to it.

This would've been a GREAT release when the DVD's were released.  TESB is loved by many and the bounty hunter scene is one of the coolest scenes from the trilogy.

I'm on the fence with this one, I have all of these guys loose so this may make for a cool presentation left in the box but I fear that the price will be high - close to $50 would be my guess.

Seriously.

Thank goodness there are no new figures in it though.

Dam  this would have been great last year during the OTC run but since I've since gotten bossk, dengar and ig-88 I only want zuckuss and 4-lom ???
Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad they're making this available but I only need two of the 7 figs.

Post by: CHEWIE on July 11, 2005, 03:18 PM
I'll pass on this one... they could have easily sold me though if they had done the following -

- put in a silk robed Vader

- thrown in VOTC Fett w/ an ESB paint job

- new 4-LOM

- new Zuckuss

- SAGA Bossk

This is an easy pass for me. I have those figures already, and in some cases, three.

Ugh - another over-priced multi-figure box set exclusive to a single retailer. This like the KB Toys $50 ROTS set are both clunkers if you ask me.

I will probably get at least ONE of these, but will probably end up buying two just 'cause I buy two of everything like the lemming that I am.

Would be an okay set if they had:

1) Put a cloth cape on Vader
2) Put in VOTC Fett w/ESB Paint Op
3) Put in Saga versions of Dengar and Bossk
4) Gave us new versions of 4-Lom and Zuckuss
5) Put in a plastic base that was detailed to look like the deck of the Executor

*sigh*

Hmm. Four of the figs I don't have (Zuckuss, POTJ IG-88, 300th Fett, and the Vader), but I have the other three. I don't really want this, but then again I kinda do. I'll wait and see the price before I make my final decision.

They need sets like this with army builders!

like Imperial Star Destroyer Crew!
Title: Re: Diamond Comics OTC Bounty Hunter 7-Pack

Imperial Star Destoyer Crew = Instant Hit.

Could include -

- Darth Vader
- Admiral Piett
- Death Star Trooper x 2
- Imperial Technician x 2

All new sculpts... I'd pay $50.00 in a hearbeat.

You don't even need Vader. =)

and that's only 6 you listed. =p

Yep, I did list only 6... whoops.  I would still include Vader though, because he's so damn popular.

Ok, figure #7 - Deck Officer.

I'd have bought that. An exclusive full of army-building Imperials? It's like a license to print money.

I've always expected a "Cinema Scene" type of window-boxed Bounty Hunter display to come out at some point.  But I must admit that I'm a little disappointed on the execution of this one.

I'd just prefer that it look nearly identical to what we saw on screen in ESB, with the 6 BHs on the Star Destroyer bridge, with Vader yapping away at them (with no lightsaber drawn).  Rehashes or not, that would've looked pretty cool.

But hopefully this picture is just a mock up at this point, and they fix it up a bit more...

NO VADER! I'm sick of vaders and Lukes and Han's jammed into things.

Give us a good only set of Imperial Droids instead.

Mouse bot, the Protocol droid, and  the R2 unit.

oh baby!

I really like the idea.  Like what Matt and maybe some other said I think we had always assumed this would have been done allready in the past in someway.  Personally I was thinking of just having the Bounty Hunters only in the pack.  I never really thought to include Vader.

I would have been more tempted had they made a new sculpt of 4-LOM and Zuckuess.  I don't really care for the yellowish highlights on 4-LOM.  The Zuckuss somehow looks a bit...clunky?

All in all though if I really had some extra money I would buy this.  I think it looks kind of nifty to have all the bounty hunters in some kind of packaging.  In the end though I won't be buying this because I have all these figures and there are other holes in my collection to fill.

I think it'd be even cooler with a comm-chip of Piett and the crewman's exchange.
"Bounty hunters! We don't need that scum!"
"Yes, sir"

That's just me, though. I always got a kick out of that!

Whether we are going to buy it or not, has anyone heard an update on when it will be available?  I think a floor and backdrop from Vader's Star Detroyer would make or break this set, even if they are repacks/repaints...
Title: Re: Diamond Comics OTC Bounty Hunter 7-Pack

Haven't heard a peep about this set since it was announced, Steve.  But yeah, a Star Destroyer bridge diorama/back drop would do wonders for this set, I bet.  I think some of the newer collectors may bite on it as well, just to pick up the 4-LOM, Zuckuss, and IG-88 Bounty Hunters that haven't been released in quite a while now...

Im kinda hoping this is a mock up pic. Like they initially did with the Wedge figure. New sculpts of 4-Lom and Zuckuss and an ESB deco VOTC Fett would seal the deal for me.

Odds are we won't see any kind of diorama base - Hasbro would've called that out in the product description knowing more of us would buy it if that were the case.

I agree with JediMac - more of a scene recreation would've been cool (with Vader included - pointing at Fett)!

 :P

And to top it all off, they used the POTF2 Bossk - who isn't bad, but the Saga one is a tad better....

Well - I ordered myself two from SWS just now.

I may regret it when I see it available at a much cheaper price somewhere else. However, I know for a fact that somewhere else won't be a local comic-book (i.e. brick-and-mortar scalper) shop.

Perhaps Entertainment Earth will sell it for less, but I doubt it.

You know, in all fairness, the POTF2 Bossk is actually one of about five figures that still holds up great, sculpt-wise, when compared with the current stuff.  I actually like the head on the POTF2 version a lot better than the Saga/OTC one, and if it weren't for the articulation on the newer one, I'd take the POTF2 version any day of the week.

The one that gets me is the 300th Boba Fett being repackaged again.  My argument with it being repackaged for the fourth time isn't that it decreases the value of the 300th Fett from the POTJ line financially, but more from a "special" standpoint.

The 300th Fett was, top to bottom, a great figure to commemorate a much more feasible milestone and was supposed to be a special release.  Now, it's been rereleased twice already and now a third time with little to no changes to it, thus kind of taking away from the specialness of the 300th packaging (for me at least).  I don't know if that made any sense, but I guess it would be like rereleasing the 500th Vader in a Battle Pack but without the meditation chamber.

That being said, the 300th Fett looks kind of silly standing in an action pose alongside the other five neutrally posed bounty hunters.  Maybe Piett's voice was loud enough for everyone to hear him.   :D

Still, 35 bucks seems like a great price for this set, considering it gives people a shot at Vader and all six bounty hunters in one fell swoop.  I won't be buying it, but I think it's a good idea for people who don't have all of these guys already.

DP, I guess it's a good deal for someone who doesn't have these figures or wants a unique boxed display... I'll be passing on this too though.  I already have all of these figures loose (in some cases, 7-8 of certain ones through getting cheap loose figures for customizing).

You know, it's a pretty good value for $35.  Too bad shipping will be close to $10.  It's tempting, but I've already spent enought money this month (or year for that matter).

Not to mention the fact that I got hosed on the carded OTC Wedge figure.  Buying it from swshop.com and then seeing it at newforce for $5 cheaper....

Just send the customer service an e-mail and ask them to cancel it.  It takes them a few days to get back to you, but as long as it's a pre-order, I've never had a problem with them when I was trying to cancel an order...

Guess we better move this thread to the Saga forum...

Wow.  This set sure looks a lot nicer now!

Here was the "old" mock-up:

And here is what we are actually getting:

Has anyone opened them yet? I opened the shipping box this morning and looked them over through the window, and I can't see a single thing that would motivate me to open the set.

I even think a couple of the figures may have worse paint deco than their original POTF2 versions. Zuckuss looked particularly bad.

The only thing that could modivate me to open a set is a new scuplt. Slight paint application varents aren't that big a deal for me.

I bought this purely as a carded/boxed display piece, and I'm quite happy with it as a whole - having all of the bounty hunters in one display is very cool.  It just sucks that the box it came shipped in was crushed by the clowns that run the post office and so it is nowhere near mint.  :'(

I bought is as a display piece as well, but I don't know now. It sits on top of my Millenium Falcon Crew set from the Sams'club special pack a few years ago. It looks kind of cool, but I am soooo sick of that Vader mold. The imperial packs a few years back, the hoth version, I must have 8 of this guy. Enough already.

Pittsburgh's last thriving Suncoast store got them in for $35 too which, for 7 figures, isn't bad.  If you've got kids that wanted a set or something ya know?  I'm pondering one for the boys because they like bounty hunters.  they hate unposeable figures, so I'll never hear the end of it, but they'll like the aliens and IG-88 and stuff I think.
