Does anybody watch Meet the Goldbergs? I had moderate hopes for the show and then the first episode was not very enticing but I stuck around for a second episode that was mediocre.  I tried to watch a third last night and made it halfway through before deleting it from the DVR.

It is very Wonder Years like, but not as good.  It was an 80's type show so I was really hoping it would keep my interest.

I loved Clancy's work for what it was, entertainment.  I will miss reading his books.

However, I'm glad we still have Stephen Coonts.  I think he's better simply because he isn't as wordy, develops characters quickly, and keeps the action going.

Still, RIP Clancy.

Anybody watch Falling Skies last night?

Look's like a good season is in the works.  You could tell there is a bigger budget and there have been a ton of off-screen changes.  Looks like the writers may be trying to turn the show into a deeper/darker show with a lot more character development.

The shows I religiously watch are:

Hawaii 5-0, The Walking Dead, and Southland.  And I got all caught up on Breaking Bad this past fall on Netflix. So I'll be watching this and Falling Skies over the summer.

The shows I end up DVRing and watching later in the week as I have time:
Revolution
Defiance
Vegas
The Office.

Sometimes it takes me a week or two to watch these.  However, it looks like come the next TV season I'll have three of those shows knocked off my list as Southland was not renewed by TNT (a real surprise to a number of people) and Vegas was cancelled. Vegas wasn't really a surprise.  The plot was decent, but the characters were rather cardboard and a bit cheezy.  Revolution is getting better this time around.  However, the acting is still kind of stiff, but again, it's getting better.  I think NBC is really trying to turn it into a version of Lost.  I can't comment too much on Lost as I never watched it.  NBC has been putting so many twists and turns into Revolution that you can sometimes get lost just trying to figure out what is going on.  Maybe it's best with that show just to keep the storyline simple.

This is kind of off the topic of the moment, but a little related...

I was watching a few clips of BSG on youtube over the past couple of days and was reminded of how truly great that show was.  I originally tried watching the first couple of episodes in 2004 when it came out, but just couldn't get into it, largely because of the style it was filmed in.  However, I gave it a chance again last summer on Netflix and absolutely loved that show, from the beginning to the end and everything in between.  IMO, that is the best sci-fi series.

Okay, back to the discussion...

I have a handful of shows I actually watch and a handful I DVR and watch as the week goes on and I don't have something to watch before bed.  I'd be interested in seeing what everyone watches religiously and what you watch just to have something to do.  I'll post a list of my own later after I get back from eating.

Is anybody still watching Defiance?  Obviously a few weeks ago some folks were.

I'm still into the show and actually enjoy watching it for what it is.  When it first came out, I was hoping for something on the epic scale of Battlestar Galactica, especially when I saw the names of some of the production crew and their credits.  I didn't realize for a while this was a show spun from a video game.

So character development is what it is.  Nothing too deep and very predictable characters, but not all bad IMO.  I've been thinking of this show in the same light as Firefly.  I loved that series and didn't actually watch it until I caught all of it on Netflix last summer.  Defiance isn't really hokey or anything, just a fun show with an easy story to follow, much in line with the idea of "adventure of the week."  I appreciate having just mindless TV from time to time as I don't always want to think about a show.  So much like Firefly, it's somewhat predictable, decent characters that aren't really developed, but you know their feelings and to some degree you care about them.

All in all, I'm liking the series.  I DVR it and watch it later in the week when I've got a chance to sit still for a bit.  I'm not sure how many episodes there are in this season, but I'm kind of hoping for more next season.

Edit to add:  It looks like it was renewed for a second, 13 episode season in 2014.  It looks like the ratings have been pretty good for SyFy.

Is there something I'm missing?  I didn't see anything in the trailer that really wowed me.  It was good... but pretty much standard action stuff.

Agreed.  That said, I'm excited about this movie.  I thought the reboot was beyond awesome and I'm hoping the same for this.

I was sorely disappointed in that episode last night.  There was tons of tension, but I felt it didn't lead anywhere.  I didn't think this episode did much to drive the plot, except to show the lack of total loyalty within Woodbury.  That was displayed by very subtle stuff.  All in all, this was by far my least favorite episode of this season, and probably one of the "worst" of the entire series.  I just can't stress enough how I felt last night was just a wasted, filler episode that could have possibly been combined with last week in an effort to move things along.

Agreed with the above.  I really enjoyed last nights episode.  I was a bit concerned it was just going to be a filler episode after seeing the previews, but I didn't feel it was that at all.  We did get some back story and probably some more insight into Rick's character, as well as Michonne, and even got to see a little Carl badass come out.  All in all, good solid episode.  I just wish this season were going to run more than 16 episodes.  We're almost done for the season.  Anybody have word on how long season 4 will be?

I'm about 100 pages from finishing, but I'm in the middle of my last class before I begin my thesis, so those pages are on hold for now.  But this is a great, great book.

I think some people will salivate, then realize rebuilding some of what will inevitably need it, is far beyond their abilities.

This for the win.  I thought about looking around for an older Jeep to build up.  Then I decided my pocket book probably wouldn't be able to handle what my ego said I could do.  So I decided to pass on a salvage vehicle.

Jesse, maybe this will make you smile.  I finally got my lift put on my Jeep.  I got a Teraflex leveling kit, which brought the front up about 2.5"  and the rear up about 1.5"  I've got a Rugged Ridge stubby tube bumper due to be delivered this week.  The pic is kind of crappy but it's the best I've got for the moment.

A lot of people are going to die.  Very few are safe regardless of their race.

True dat!!!  I think the only person safe on the show is Rick.

My wife told me to get myself a birthday/Christmas present because I rarely buy anything for myself.  So I managed to get a leveling kit for my Jeep for $120.

Scored 4th row center for the Fresh Beat Band in October - whoo hoo - rock on!!  Bought the party package for my 7 year-old.  Backstage pre-show dance party and meet and greet with the band and a bunch of freebies.  Her head is going to explode!  (Mine probably will too after about the 3rd song)  Those tickets were harder to score than for any other show I have been to.  I have to drive all the way to Ashville from Charlotte because everywhere else sold out in minutes.

I can't believe I'm just seeing this.  We actually debated taking my daughter when they were here in Dallas.  However, tickets were over the top expensive and my daughter's interest was starting to wane.
