Saga '02-'04 / Re: How Is Distribution?
« on: May 8, 2003, 01:57 PM »
Another collector on another board (Canadian) put forward the theory that distribution for current Saga figures sucks so badly because this is a rerun of the last waves of Episode I.  He is under the impression that production has been scaled back due to the switch in card color.

whaddya think, is he nuts, or not?

« on: May 8, 2003, 01:47 PM »
There was a discussion of just this sort of auction (case of silver R2) at RS back when this figure first came out.  I recall it coming up for auction on ebay, cheaper than this, but not enough so it sold.  Wonder if it's the same seller.  TRU employee?

I can take some with a dig camera (not great quality) and send it off to someone.  I do not have the capability of posting pictures (no host).

the greenish tint is there, but boy, not what I was expecting.  It's much more subtle.

Dolls - yes.  I own zero 12" figures.

Unleashed Ewok?  Never, I say never.  I mean come on, are ya gonna hug it while it stabs ya, or what? ;)

Anybody have this guy?  Greenish tint body?

Got mine today.  Happy to have it, but boy, I better be careful to look at the back of the card when I open up my 3POs.  It came in a trade and it was a good deal based on that, otherwise I wouldn't recommend chasing this unless you are a true variant hunter.

Ok, I guess I can see the Jabba.  Classic character, throw in Salacious Crumb and a dancer chained to his dais?  It would make a nice statue, which these are essentially.

OK, do you have any clue what I am talking about?  The pepsi caps from Japan with either the figures or head busts on top?

Just wondering if anyone collects these and whether anyone has any spares.  I have maybe 30 or so and I think there are 52(?) in the AOTC set.  I wouldn't mind completing my set at some point and the prices seem to have come down.

I received a Royal Guard and a Plo Kloon today.  They were a throw in with a trade from a friend and it sort of rekindled my interest in them.  I gathered a bunch last summer, put them away and pretty much forgot about them.

My guess is Adam has a complete set, Cory has some (2 ;D), but who else?

No, not quite free Matt.  Time is money, especially my time.  But, to be fair, I'll give you a choice.  You can either take it at ebay value, or you can take it based on my hourly wage.  Took about 2 hours of sitting there waiting to make my pick.  Your choice :P

I wish I had known about the secret sticker when it was out.  I know I left at least 3 on the pegs.  The only spare I had was traded for a Jorg Sacul.  Sorry guys.  I can try and find more from other people, but not likely to happen :-\

I won't even pretend like Dale.  I have utterly no recollection of that day, but I'm sure I had fun.  You should too.

Happy birthday fella.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The frustrations of home buying...
« on: May 8, 2003, 10:31 AM »
WEll, I suppose I can relate.  I am on my first house which I've been in for 7 years, almost to the day.  We were more fortunate in that we bought when the market was slow, so the price was relatively low (130K vs market appraisal of 179K).  The drawback is we bought from an absolute prick and ended up taking him to court.  Twice.  Winning both times.  We probably should have been back more, but just got tired of the hassle and grief.

We have a pool.  When we moved in, the liner was ripped.  He refused to pay.  Off to court.

The heater for said pool was also not functioning, that was in the above court scenario.

Come spring (we bought in winter - duh) the roof leaked.  Off to court.  Grr.

Lots of other crappy things with the house, so I would back your assessment of not buying a fixer upper Matt.  New, while lacking some of the charm and challenge, tends to be a whole lot less expensive, at least in the short term.  I need new siding, soffits, faschia.  We've removed so much crap vegetation from the property.  We had to finish the backyard.  Which brings me to an entertaining story.

There is a raised garden in the back yard.  About 10 feet by 30 feet.  When we moved in, we thought we should do some work with the garden and found it to be a very, very heavy clay soil, so we got some sand and some peat to mix in.  Wanting to get it mixed thoroughly, I decided to dig out a bunch of the heavy soil (the garden is about two feet deep (or raised above the surrounding ground).  I started digging, got about a foot down and *CLANG* the shovel hits something hard.  Clear away the dirt and it's one of those interlocking bricks.  No idea why it's there, throw it on the lawn and go on digging.  *CLANG*  Again, another brick.  *CLANG*CLANG*CLANG*
Holy crap!  Some four hours later I'd pulled out almost three hundred bricks.  The moron had decided to raise the garden on the basis of 0.85 per interlocking bricks. :o
The bright side is I had enough bricks (still have some not used) to finish paving a section in front of the garden that was just mud.

We are thinking of moving to the other side of the city.  It would save me 15 minutes of driving each day.  That's pretty considerable in terms of time and gas expenditure.  Just all the hassle that Matt's going through, lawyer fees, realtor fees, land transfer fees, taxes.  Blech.  You don't get much sympathy from me Matt, but you have it on this issue.

Ah, already presuming the win in the next series are we Matt?  Tell ya what, I'll still put up that poster in a bet with ya.  Since you chickened out of backing your Lakers against all comers, I'll reformat for you.  I think your Ducks can beat the Canucks.  But I don't think they can beat the Wild.

So, if the Wild win tonight, I'll put up my poster against something of equal value.  Wild over the Ducks in the NHL Western semifinal.  Unless of course you'd like to take your beloved Lakers? :-*

Nah, I'm pretty sure we'll be quite happy with having you here Todd!  The only person we really regret inviting over is Morgbug.  He's nothing but a big trouble maker with a major potty mouth, as I'm sure you'll discover by some time tomorrow...   ;)

Oh ouch! :-*

Actually Todd, I think I'm very entertaining and only a few people regret inviting me.  Two that I know of anyway ;D

Welcome to the funhouse.

Works for me, though I relish the thought of an all Canadian Stanley Cup.  Not good for ratings though (maybe nothing is?).
