Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Bond, James Bond
« on: December 2, 2012, 06:44 PM »
Saw SKYFALL this afternoon. It was okay. Entertaining. The action was good, the plot...less so.  Better than Quantum of Solace, which was almost all chase scenes.

Bardem seemed to be channelling the late Raul Julia at times, coming off as a tad campy. His character was too much like Michael Bean's from Goldeneye. It's like the well of villainry has run dry in the P.C. world.  There's so few acceptable baddie types left and their schemes have to be more grounded nowdays. On the other hand, at least there was no satellite weapon.

The films makes Bond seem old and tired, I guess to make him more vunerable.  Craig is in better shape that I've ever been in, but damn he does look old and tired at times. Not that I want him to quit, he's got at least 2 more films in him (both contractually and physically).

Anyway, I wasn't disappointed in SKYFALL, but I wasn't expecting much.

Got Dr. E and Nom at a Wal-Mart. Sucks to have pay $10 each when there's so much cheap stuff and sales around. But better safe than sorry.

Evazan's likeness is still a tad lacking, but better than the 90's one. Could've tossed a bar glass in with him.

Target here still shows no signs of having got any vintage cases since spring. TRU is barren.

Went to a Wal-Mart today, saw they still had some of these, sign above them said $20. Surely not. Scanned a legends one...yes, $20!  Glue annoyances aside, that's $2.50 a figure.

It's still too bad some of the figures are sucky and there's no OT items.  It's also a shame that websites go overboard on their watermarks.

I rather liked the episode and I'm not an astromech fan. Sure, the tiny colonel was goofy*, but at least it was as numbingly dull/repetative as any episode of the Onderon arc. Funny how the only regulars were R2 and briefly Mace Windu, but it was nice to have an Ahsoka-free episode again (I don't dislike her, but  being in 8 episodes in a row is too much.)

Got a Terra  Sinube cameo (non speaking).

R2-KT.

The mad doctor droid upgrader was pretty silly, but cliches/homages abound in Star Wars.

Not sure why a pit droid was needed. for the mission..can't astromech's autopilot ships? But storywise we needed another talking character.

*Though, the Colonel's stalk eyes reminded me a bit of that spider creature from John Carpenter's The Thing.

I went to the store near me and found nothing but General Landos, skiffmasters, Nikto jedis, senate guards and Rebel commandos.

almost got a commando, but those will be in the ROTJ wave, too. Besides, no heads to swap out with. Hasbro and their dumb rebel facial hair obsession.

I'm hoping they are delayed and wind up at Five Below 6 months from now.   :D

Multiple films per year might reinvigorate the franchise or burn it out.

Star Wars films were EVENT releases in the past (animated Clone Wars movie aside, which had a lukewarm reception).

The figures in wave 3, Revision 11 cases were:

 1x VC14 Sandtrooper
1x VC15 Clone Trooper (Ep III)
 1x VC20 Yoda
1x VC21 Gamorrean Guard
1x VC22 Admiral Ackbar
1x VC23 Jedi Luke Skywalker
1x VC24 Skiff Guard - Wooof (Klaatu)
1x VC25 R2-D2 with Lightsaber and Drink Tray
1x VC26 Rebel Commando
1x VC27 Wicket
1x VC28 Rebel Pilot Wedge Antilles
1x VC08 Darth Vader

Good news if you wanted that earlier Wedge release (the cards were different, weren't they?) I missed Wicket and never felt like paying after market for him. Heck, I could get two one for each hood.

I think this is the story or part of it, that leads to a Republic Commando being featured.

Not sure they do that sort of thing (exception being the better legs for the AT-TE). More likely to tell you to return it or they'd send you a shipping label and you can return the whole thing to Hasbro and they'll send you something random of equal value.

There was irritating music this week...at first I wasn't sure it was a score or some machine somewhere Rick's team was gonna come across.

Mixed bag episode. Hermit part seemed to come out of nowhere...run in here...hey, a crazy survivor! Oh, he's dead!

Parts with Rick and Carl were good. Their interaction with Michonne felt rushed...but she is a person of few words.

The governor makes Merle look likable by comparison.

Not sure where they are going with Woodbury's scientist.

Impressive. I remember seeing that station in a book in the 90's. Wasn't there another one, too?
