Toy Reviews / Imperial Dignitary (Janus Greejatus) Review
« on: November 21, 2003, 03:12 PM »
Appearance -
Looks alright, not quite the right skin tone... But I think it looks cool
9/10

Articluation -
7 Points, elbow/wrist, head and legs. Decent enough, though I wish the shoulder were articulated. Not much could be done with the robe in the way - but oh well - he's not a huge 'action' figure.
5/10

Pose-ability -
Not much... as expected. He can't put his hands behind his back, that bothers me.
2/10

Accessory -
A plain black slab/stand... Garbage.
1/10

Overall -
Not a bad figure, looks pretty cool standing around with the Emperor.

Watto's Junk Yard / Kickass English Comp Assignment!
« on: October 28, 2003, 03:49 PM »
My English assignment is to analyze Metallica's "One" music video, and in a two page paper, state wether or not I believe the video to be Art, both visually, audibly, and lyrically.
The teacher gave me a CD with the video burned on it, so, I'm looking over it right now.

Watto's Junk Yard / The thinking man's best friend - the Bonsai Tree
« on: October 19, 2003, 05:27 PM »
Anyone else have a Bonsai Tree?

I must say, every thinking man or woman should have one or more!

I picked one up at Wal-Mart today for about $6... I recommend them for anyone, they are small, and cute.

Toy Reviews / New Review - Gillette Mach 3 Turbo
« on: October 12, 2003, 06:05 PM »
Appearance -
It looks really sweet on the card. It's got a nice blue foil touch to it. I really like the look of the razor, too, but I wish there was more shine to it at the head. I like the general black/gray stripe look to it though.
9/10

Articluation -
This baby has three new anti-friction blades and an enhanced indicator lubricating strip... Good stuff!
9/10

Pose-ability -
I've tried a few different poses, I'm happy with the results.
9/10

Accessory -
This didn't come with any accessorys! What a rip!
0/10

Overall -
I really like it... I might buy another to keep carded.

Watto's Junk Yard / Scarface DVD... with rap stuff in it?
« on: September 30, 2003, 08:56 PM »
Okay, I bought the Scarface DVD... Widescreen, of course... anycrap, I look at the cover, and on the inside, and there's some Def Jam stickers and advertisment garbage in it... I tossed it away, so to be honest, I didn't even read it - I just found it rather silly- I was wondering if anyone read the junk before throwing it away.

Toy Reviews / Anakin (Clone Wars)
« on: September 17, 2003, 02:17 PM »
I picked up the Clone Wars anakin... not all that fantastic...

Appearance -
Not the worst face sculpt, the outfit is cool, and the one of the gloves is black... On the other hand, it's not the best face sculpt, and there's a metal thing molded onto the belt. Anywho... nothing terrible but nothing fantastic.
7/10

Articluation -
8 points... Garbage. No wrist articulation, no knee articulation... *Sigh*
6/10

Pose-ability -
Not much, but with the arms bent and elbow articulation provided, at least he can do something...
7/10

Accessory -
A bandoleer thing, lightsaber, and some stupid headset thing. Not bad. Big thing is that he comes with a 'Bonus' Clone Trooper (Lieutenant) figure! Awesome.
10/10

Overall -
Not too bad, I guess...

Toy Reviews / ARC Trooper Review
« on: September 17, 2003, 02:12 PM »
I've bought a Marvel Legends figure, I now know what to expect from a toy... And not surprisingly, Hasbro disapoints.

Appearance -
Looks pretty good, the design is a tad weird. I don't like the flipping sensor thing, or the wrist things, or the Snowtrooper-ish skirt, or the gun... but it all comes together to make a decent look. The legs look weird though.
8/10

Articluation -
Only 8 points... One of the arms is so straight that the elbow articulation is pretty pointless... No wrist articulation, no knee articulation (and take note that the legs look weird).
6/10

Pose-ability -
With only 8 points, and a screwy leg pose, not to mention a straight arm... All this guy can do is hold his gun, look left or right, and "point" with the straight arm. Garbage.
2/10

Accessory -
A weird rifle... Nothing new or extra. Except that there is a 'Bonus' decently articulated Clone Trooper figure added to the card! A free figure, can't go wrong with that.
10/10

Overall -
The legs suck, the pose-ability is non-existant.... The look is decent.... Well, nothing to this guy really, but of course, the Marvel Legends figures have spoiled me. For $5 + a bonus figure, though, it's definately worth buying.

Watto's Junk Yard / Jimi Plays Berkeley DVD Review
« on: September 16, 2003, 10:31 PM »
Well I picked this DVD up today, $15-ish... Not the best DVD, the video quality is nothing like the Live @ Woodstock DVD... The sound quality is good enough for me (which is the big thing).

Seems to me a few songs were spliced, or Jimi switched over REALLY abruptly or something... That's an oddity that irritates me, as well as a few shots/angles being completely dumb... at one point there's a shot of some black kid playing the saxophone, completely random... During the concert, all a sudden it breaks to a audio clip of Hendrix commenting on "fan"s trying to break into the theatre. Overall the show isn't flawed, the DVD is... whoever edited this was on acid or something.

The Purple Haze and Star Spangled Banner are always cool, this particular version is one of my favorites. Another neat thing about the DVD is that Hendrix seems to have picked a lot with his teeth this time around.

For $15, anyone whose still impressed by Hendrix's same-ol songs, teeth-playing ability, and just 'seeing him in action' should grab this one.

Score - 7 outta 10, maybe.

Watto's Junk Yard / She's blonde, and she's all mine - Pics inside
« on: August 31, 2003, 08:04 PM »

My dad picked her up for me yesterday afternoon... I'll be getting the Hendrix style strap to go with it, just to complete the look. She sounds sweet, much better than my Melody Maker... Note the huge ass speaker -> it will blow you to hell. Anywho, just wanted to show off.  :-*

EDIT - I forgot to tell everyone that this is a Fender Stratocaster... Ooops!

Watto's Junk Yard / ...I like Starship Troopers...
« on: August 24, 2003, 03:09 PM »
I finally picked this movie up on DVD since it was only about $10 at Wal-Mart... I must say I actually enjoyed the movie quite a bit... and I was eager to see more when it ended... Now I know there's the animated DVD's out on ebay for $30 bucks a pop, but there's no way I'm paying that much.

Anywho, I was wondering who else actually enjoyed this movie, considering I had heard a lot of bad reviews for it.

Watto's Junk Yard / Elton John
« on: August 17, 2003, 07:59 AM »
For the record - I think Elton John is awesome.

I was just sitting here listening to 'Your Song', and I'd heard 'Rocket Man' earlier today, and I realized that I really do enjoy Elton's music...

Anywho -> If you don't like at least a few of his songs, then you're in the minority... I think once EJ dies, he'll be considered one of the best musicians of the era (he already is by alot of folks).

Watto's Junk Yard / Windows XP - HELP!
« on: August 11, 2003, 07:34 PM »
I've been getting this message for some reason :

Quote
Windows must now restart because the remote procedure call service terminated unexpectedly.

My laptop then re-boots, only to get the same message later. This is driving me crazy. I think my neighbor's grandkids downloaded a virus or something, but I don't know.

Any help is appreciated.
