Okay JDers, map your location:
http://www.frappr.com/jd (http://www.frappr.com/jd)
:)
-
That's pretty cool.
My zip code actually put me only a few blocks away from where I actually live. Not bad.
-
LMAO was that really GNT who did that? I'm guessing it was because no one else would know his zipcode ::)
EDIT: Thanks stormie 8)
-
Oh, for Pete's sake. Is nothing sacred anymore? >:(
...taken care of. 8)

Very fun... although it just drives home the point that I am living in the middle of a SW figure wasteland...
..and the map put the "map-tack" just about one mile from the radio station I work at. ;D
-
This is very cool :D
Would anyone be offended if I stole this idea for the GH gang too?
-
Can you move the pin to the right area? Or are you stuck wherever it says your zipcode is? It's about a mile and a half off for me.
-
This is great! :)
Hey stormie, hello from San Bruno. Not many of us Northern CA guys here.
-
Hey, this sucker worked when I was at work earlier today. 8) So far I'm the only Canucklehead reporting in. :'(

Not any more, pops. I'm in.
And I don't think GNT is in Perth, is he? I thought he was on the East side of the country.

Well, there goes the neighborhood. ;D

Either way he's back on the list as living in Perth, sans message/comment this time.

Frappr must think I'm a hobo... they put my marker at the point where the local train tracks cross the interstate. :-\
-
Well, for a generic placement it put me in a pretty damn nice neighbourhood. Lots of old houses, big ones too. Nearly estates you could say.
Best part is it dropped me half a block down the street from a 7-11 ;D
-
Just looking at mine, it places me nowhere close to where I am. Looks like I live just inside a local park!
Move over squirrel's, I'm taking over your ******* tree! ;D
-
Considering the town I live in only covers about ten miles in any given direction, mine was pretty damn close.
This thing is pretty neat. ;D
-
That map put me in a ditch outside my middle school, like a mile away from my house. Oh well.
-
It's good to see a lot of you putting your pin in the map, so to speak. Sometimes, though I know the city or state someone is located, seeing it on a map in relation to others makes it more real. Make sense?
We're up to 26 on the map so far. I know there are more of you.
Hey stormie, hello from San Bruno. Not many of us Northern CA guys here.
Jared, how long have you been in San Bruno? I thought I was pretty much the only Bay Area person here? I actually was born and lived the first nine years of my life in San Bruno. Hilly and foggy, but we'd frequently walk to Tanforan for kicks.
See, this map is bringing us all together... :'( :)
-
LOL! Why is GNT on the list?
-
how does it work for foreign members

In the "Add Yourself" box below the map, where the Zipcode field is, there's a link "Not in the US? Click Here," which, when clicked, changes the Zipcode field to a City field. Just type in the first few letters of your city here and it starts listing various cities that begin with the letters you typed. I'm not sure it has all cities, so I guess the closest city may have to suffice. Hope this helps!
The only individuals it doesn't include are people "not of this world." ;)
I also expanded the initial map view so that it shows the world.

I got the wrong Bristol :-[

Go back to the old view.
-
I got the wrong Bristol :-[
Rob, re-add yourself (with the correct Bristol), and I'll delete the Tennessee entry.
Go back to the old view.
I'm going to leave it as the world view just to include others like Rob and blaster_e11. I think it's better to be just a little less North American-centric.
Plus, it's obvious that one can zoom in to see detail, but it's not so obvious to zoom out to see JDers on other continents.
Sheesh, maybe I should run for office. :P

Done. Cheers, mate :)

Pretty cool, Bob. I was actually proposing we set something up like this for JD a few years ago (to be linked to the forums here), but Chris thought it might be unsafe to add a customized feature like this into the forum software, so we unfortunately had to nix the idea. So I'm glad to see you got the ball rolling on it again a different way...
So I tossed my pin into the hat map as well. Put me in "Newhall", which isn't quite right, but close enough. Damned SoCal area is way too cluttered already though, and we've only got 4 pins in there so far, out of a potential 20+. Yikes.
Good stuff. Keep 'em coming folks!
-
This is great Bob! Though it put me in the campgrounds behind the Speedway somewhere off of Turn 2...........
-
Very cool software.
It put me in the farmer's field a block from the mall where I work. I guess it's time to milk the cows. :P
...BTW, who the hell put Santa in Alaska? Only off by a few thousand miles. :-*
-
Oh wonderful! It put me in a Chemical Plant about 5 miles down the road.
-
It placed me on the other side of town! But its still nice and the Saugus insnt too big so...
-
I'm living in the middle of the highway... that would be scary... the satellite image is kind of neat- can't make out if my house is there, but at least it's very GREEN...
-
Pretty cool!
General area is correct, but now I live on a golf course :o ;D

Take care of those gophers, would you? ;)
-
It put me less than a mile away, not too shabby!
-
I finally got my name on here :P
-
It stuck me about a block away from home. Kinda coool, kinda scary.
-
just bumping to make sure everyone gets on the map!
-
I'm in there! Wow, I feel like a "Southerner" compared to you guys :P
