*sigh* Another Boba Fett at an unfair MSRP.  #bobafetttax

Morak Boba Fett with some new parts for $20.99 was harsh, but another repaint of this Fett sculpt for $21 is just dicking collectors over because you can.

2021 VC186 Fett (ROTJ) = $12.99
2022 VC186 Fett repaint in Droids colors= $15.99 @ Target
2023 VC186 Fett repaint in Kenner colors = $20.99 @ Target ?!?

Do better Hasbro and Target.  >:( [/end rant.]

Available for pre-order Wednesday,  11/9 at 1pm ET exclusively at Target. UPDATE: 11/16 at 1pm ET exclusively at Target.

It does look really nice... but $21 for yet another repaint of this sculpt?   ::)

For the first time in 27 years of collecting, I am starting to truly loathe what Hasbro is doing with the hobby.

This might be where I get off this train.  This is a simplified version of the 2021 figure - simpler paint apps and no soft goods cloak.  That 2021 figure was $13.99.  How the **** does Hasbro justify selling this for $21?!?!?  A 50% price increase?!?!?!  This sort of **** is turning people off.

This sort of **** is turning people off.

One has to wonder if they are doing this on purpose regarding TVC.

I doubt it.  More likely, TVC collecting has shrunk but the people still doing it are generally die hards or people who are new and barely remember $7 figures, and they all think this is normal.  So Hasbro I’d finding they sell nearly the same number if a figure at $21 as they did at $13 and they’re taking advantage.  If sales do drop enough, they’ll do some small price cut and we’ll all be happy about it even though it’s an increase over a year or three prior.

I was thinking that this had already been done before... I guess I'm thinking of the VCP03 mail-away one from 2010, which was 5PoA.  Some differences, but I think I'm satisfied with the previous one.

This would be a figure I do not remove from the packaging.
This is the way.

The only correction I’m interested in with this figure is a price correction.  It’s not worth more than any other figure in the line.  If it’s not $16.99 Hasbro and Target can choke on these.  Repeal the Boba Fett tax!!!

$16.99 is already absurd.  They went from $13 to $14 then immediately to $15 with web exclusives at $17 to everything is $17 to $21 all in the course of like a year.

Oooffff. This is not good. The blatant price gouging of the Fett tax is ridiculous (especially apparent with so many Fett-themed items being released, and then re-released, over the last few years). If this was just a regular figure in the line at the standard price, fine. I wouldn't have been overly excited since it is just a gimmick-repaint but it is cool enough looking.

But releasing it as an exclusive with a price tag $8.00 more expensive than the version that came out two years ago? Get out of town. [Keeping politics out of this next bit] With inflation up everywhere globally, people are already worried about money and starting to change how they spend, especially with discretionary spending. I wonder how many collectors will start considering ditching the hobby if Hasbro keeps being this blatant with the Fett-Tax and the number of repaints, repack, and kitbashes in the current line. I feel like I've seen a few more of the more "prominent" collectors on social media starting to hint they are getting fed up or losing interest. I can't imagine the TVC line will survive another 1-2 years if Hasbro continues managing it like this.

This looks really nice, but I've got enough Fett figures like this already and the price is rough, so I'm skipping this one.

I think this is what I was alluding to on another post.  That maybe Hasbro is intentionally using this (inflation, Fett tax, etc) to kill interest in TVC and try to shift everyone over to the 6" line.  I feel like Star Wars (at least in relation to Hasbro and TVC) has become the Jango Fett and his clone spawn line.

That's it.  About 80% of it is a troop or a Mandalorian.  No imagination whatsoever.  I feel like the Finish-the-96 is going to be the end of TVC and Sim Aloo will be the last figure in that line.

Whether they bother with a different 3.75" line is another question.
