Kubricks / Re: Series 9

His honor vanished with Super Capitalism.

Ain't that always the way. . .I should note, though, that I bought a loose Early Bird set from this guy for around $78 plus shipping last month.  So, I don't begrudge him trying to capitalize on impetuous collectors that want the first variant that they see (he isn't running a charity, after all), but at the same time, he has posted at least one pretty good deal before  :) .

Very nice.  I didn't even know there was a "Monsters, Inc." series 2.  I'm currently trying to figure out some way to display mine. . .but I don't know if glue will be involved.  Anybody know of relatively cheap, compatible stands for Kubricks?  Those little plastic medicom cases are way too expensive.

Not many collectors that I know actually have the patience that we all know, deep down, could save us some scratch.  But with Kubricks, you sometimes really don't know when something will pop up on eBay again.  As you mention, some figures exist in small quantities, but this is exacerbated by the fact that these figures typically have to either be imported or sold by a foreign seller (in Hong Kong or Japan, typically).  And with some of the lines that are not popular outside of Japan, you just may not see more than one or two auctions in a given month.

So, unlike what you see with more popular lines of toys, I personally have a tendency to over-react, and to pay more than I should for certain Kubrick stuff.  The Star Wars Kubs are relatively easy to find (compared to some other Kubrick lines), but even there, I have seen only 2 regular C-3POs over the last month--one in a lot of series 3 figs, and one that ended today.  I think others exercise the same amount of overzealousness that I often do, as indicated by the fact that today's 3PO went for $40 (sadly, I didn't win :( ).

But back to Yoda and some others, the absurd thing is that I actually don't see that price as being unreasonable.  When the supply is so low, and when they are so hard to get a hold of, $130 actually becomes reasonable. . .for a 2 1/2 inch toy that was just released.  It is not irrational to place such a value on these things, but it is crazy as hell, in my opinion.

I just won one off e-bay for $130+.  I don't know what shipping is yet.

Nice price- congrats!
Do you guys realize how absurd it is for this statement to be true?  Insane.

I actually like them more now that I know how relatively small they are.  I might have to pick these up at some point.

I got a Sand Trooper, Obi Wan, Boba Fett, Tusken Raider, Greedo, and my 3rd Han Solo (!) in the last week.  Still missing a few core characters from series' 3 and 4, but my series 2 needs are met!  I also got some non-Star Wars Kubs in all 5 regular Muppets, movie Batman, Joker, and Catwoman, all of the non-Beyond Batman Animated figures, 3 apes from Planet of the Apes, and one of the Reservoir Dogs sets.  My Kubrick collection is almost half-way respectable now!

Damn, I'll probably have to get a 400% Indy, too.  My poor, poor bank account :(

Depending on the price, I'd definitely be in for a set of these.  I'm not drooling over the logo brick, so if that ends up being the chase I can live without it.  The four main guys, Slimer and Stay-Puff are a must though.

I agree with this completely.  I've got no interest in the logo guy.  However, the Ghostbusters, Slimer, and Stay-Puff are awesome.
I hope that others feel this way, so that I can get some Logos cheap once they come out.  I love it.

If they are offered as a series and you can order through Robby. I'd be interested in going in on a group.
I am obviously new around here, but same goes for me if this were possible, and if it isn't too terribly expensive.  I would obviously be willing to pay a handling fee for anyone's troubles.

So is there 6 Ghostbuster Kubricks there?  Do we care to speculate if this is a boxed set or a packaged "series".
Since 7 (or possibly 8 ) different figures are shown, I assumed that these would be individually packaged.  I figure that the symbol would be the main variant, with the alternate Stay Puft head being another one.  However, I would be pleased as punch if it was just a big box set.  Otherwise, I'll be buying at least one entire case, to try and get the chase(s).

Does anyone know when we might expect these to hit retail in Japan? (and I apologize for the double post  :-[ )

this person bin'd 3 of the carded series 2 & 1 of the carded series 1 6 pks.
Do you think that profit could be made by buying all the carded figures together and re-selling them individually?  Does he think the value of these will appreciate much?  If not, I can't see why anyone would need 3 sets of the series 2 carded Kubs. . .but then, collectors are strange beasts sometimes.  Personally, I have irrationally, compulsively accumulated numerous wave 5 Captain America Minimates and 1985 GI Joe Flints (though those figures are just a tad cheaper than blastech's buys).

Bums try to do that with yojoe.com's GI Joe images all the time, and it is funny that these sellers usually have good feedback, and just seem to be lazy and/or unable to take nice-looking pictures.  Lame.
