One thing that I'm hopeful for is more TVC vehicles for mass retail. Could Hasbro reveal that? I don't know if it's wishful thinking or not. The introduction of the N-1 fighter on TBOBF was definitely notable. Is this a case of working a vehicle into a show in order to drive toy sales? Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni made a point of talking about their love for the Kenner vintage Imperial Transport, and that seems to have been a driving factor in getting the Imperial Troop Transport in The Mandalorian and eventually on store shelves. An N-1 fighter might be far more viable at retail than the Razor Crest ever would have been. And the most recent episode has made me want a Peli Motto figure, along with her droids, that much more. R5-D4 could be a straight up reissue!
I was thinking about the N-1 too, and being a little cynical wondered if they put this in there just for reissues. Hopefully that's not the case, especially for a vehicle that is 20+ years old (lost molds, etc.) and probably wasn't all that beloved when it was released. I'm guessing that if they were going to do a vehicle for reissue dollars only it probably would have been an A-Wing or something they've made in the past five years.
-
The 2012 version of the N-1 was a much better vehicle. But even that one shows its age when you look at photos of it.
Given what Hasbro released with the Imperial Tank, the Troop Transport and even the new version of the Skiff, I think that they could make a fantastic version of Mando's N-1. I don't think the 2012 version would translate in any way except for the cockpit and canopy. Everything else looks radically different because of the exposed mechanical spaces on the ship.
I would not put it past Lucasfilm to introduce a ship to sell toys. OT producer Gary Kurtz was critical of George Lucas because he felt that serving the Kenner toy line might have been driving some creative decision making. It's no secret that revenue from licensed merchandise made George Lucas a lot more money than the box office. Were some characters or vehicles designed in order to drive toy sales? It might be the case. The prospect of getting a smaller ship (that's more viable at retail) for one of the most popular characters in Star Wars seems like it didn't necessarily happen by accident.

The modifications Mando made to it are significant enough that Hasbro would need to build a whole new mold anyways.
-
I want to see more vehicles in the TVC be it the modified N-1 starfighter or others. The troop transport they did is fantastic, as well as the aforementioned skiff and Rogue One tank. I expect to see the modified N-1 sometime this year, but expect it to be at least $150.
-
I think Hasbro can get a pretty spectacular N-1 on the market this year, but I think they have to shoot for a lower price point. The ITT sold for around $60, and the most recent X-Wing was $105. I think they can probably find a way to deliver this somewhere between $80 and $105 - especially because it's related to The Mandalorian. If they get in the mindset of moving a main character vehicle in volume, then the lower price point might be a way to draw in more potential buyers.

Close guess, Matt!
The latest rumor update from Jayson/Yakface (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2022/10/19/tvc-rumor-report-unknown-rumored-large-vehicle-code-name/):
"Another Vintage Collection vehicle code name has been found and this one may tie to the rumored N-1 Starfighter from The Book of Boba Fett/The Mandalorian. “Bridgeport” looks to be due late 2023 with a price in the $140 range."

Holy moly :o :o
What did the original one with electronics cost? $25? According to my database I bought it on discount for $8.
-
I'm assuming this one will be closer to the correct scale this time(?)
-
I'm assuming this one will be closer to the correct scale this time(?)
If this is an all-new Mando N-1 sculpt that ends up similar in size to the larger X-Wing sculpt that now costs us $100-110, then $140 isn't surprising for them to ask. Especially if they toss in a TBOBF Mando and Grogu to go with it (or maybe Peli or her droids instead).
Anyway, it's all relative - I'd rather pay $140 for an all-new ship x-wing size ship than $200 for the fourth version of that Slave 1 they keep re-releasing.
-
$140 is steep, but I'll bite. Mando & Grogu make the most sense as a pack-in but man, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up if we got Amy Sedaris in action figure form as a pack-in.
-
I’ll end up with one but I never really liked the N1. I don’t love that Mando has one. And naturally, I hate the price tag. Hopefully it’s got some pack-ins, is scaled up a little, and maybe has really great details for that kind of money.
-

Agreed. I think it's ok that he's speeding around in one a little bit, but I want him to get back to a Razor Crest, or some other larger ship that's like the show's Millennium Falcon.
-
$140???? It feels like we're dealing with the case of the boiling frog with the price increases. But in this case we seem to be noticing.
The Antoc Merrick X-Wing only came out a year ago, and it was priced at $105. It included a pack-in figure, too. The previous X-Wing releases had been $100 and didn't included a pack-in figure. Now I am fully aware that this was an existing sculpt that had been released in TVC 1.0 for $70. So perhaps Hasbro can offer this for a bit less than a newly tooled vehicle that might not lend itself to a re-release.
But $140? If this is Mando's N-1, then Hasbro needs to offer something with this that boosts the perceived value.
-

+1. Its not a practical bounty hunting ship unless you're just cutting off the heads of your bounties. You can't haul people/bounties. You couldn't fit a crew, or much gear.
It was a cute nod to fans who liked it in E1, but I've never been a big fan of this ship and don't need it coming back at any price point.
I hope Mando gets a new, more practical ship this season. I don't care if its another Razor Crest or not, but it needs to be practical if he's still going to be working as a bounty hunter.
-
I hope Mando gets a new, more practical ship this season.
Maybe Mando can get himself an old GR-75 Rebel Transport and that's how we can finally get an updated version of the old Kenner Rebel Transport. :P
-
I'm guessing that Mando is going to turn over a new leaf now that he is the "father" of Grogu and needs to lead a more serious role in life. And now that it looks like there is going to be a war between Mandalorian factions and the fact that he is currently the owner of the Darksaber, he probably needs some fast ship to outmaneuver those trying to gun him down.
It seems these smugglers and bounty hunters really want to redeem themselves in the end.

Yakface is reporting that the Mando N-1 starfighter will be $131.99. (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2023/02/25/tvc-mando-n-1-naboo-starfighter-code-name-confirmation-and-pricepoint-update/)
I hope it comes with some good pack-ins. Pelli Motto? R5-D4 that fits in the droid socket?

Sorry Matt, you get a Deathtrooper from the unsold Cantina sets.
-
The price is in the ballpark of what I was expecting it to be. The most recent comparably sized vehicle was the Antoc Merrick X-Wing. And that was priced around $105.99. That was an existing vehicle that was previously released around 2019. The N1 is new and also doesn't lend itself to being re-purposed for different releases. But it's a hero vehicle and that merits this kind of treatment. I suspect that it's going to be a mainline release available to all retailers since it's the vehicle of the main character of one of the most popular shows on the Disney+ platform.
I don't see this N1 having a pack-in other than the Mandalorian and possibly Grogu. Unless Hasbro reveals another new TVC Mandalorian with a softgoods cloak that has appropriate articulation for getting into the cockpit of the N1.
I'm hoping for some companion releases. Peli Motto is one, along with the droids. We'll see what happens with that.

Jayson at Yakface is saying there is a pack-in, but it doesn't appear anyone knows what it is yet, or at least Jayson isn't saying.
Maybe a Pit Droid if they could find the old molds?

All I am saying about this is for over a hundred dollars this thing better come with a flight stand. This needs to have an out of the box display solution, because last I checked N-1s don't have landing gear. If the Speeder Bike is made to hover, this thing better be made to as well.
I hope they are that Haslab Skystruker stand, that is really nice.
I am still very much on the fence about getting this. I am not a vehicle collector in general, but if this can be displayed nicely it will make my purchase more likely.
-
Sorry Matt, you get a Deathtrooper from the unsold Cantina sets.
I'd almost be ok with that if he comes with the carbine rifle. I'm still disappointed that all four in the trooper pack did not come with that accessory.
I do also hope it comes with a pack in stand. This thing has no landing gear.
-
Isn't this rumored to be a totally redesigned N-1, or is this just a repaint of the existing Naboo Starfighters we've received in the past?
-
I totally agree about a flight stand. I like what Hasbro said they were doing with the speeder bike. The clear stand can be set up in three different heights. Something similar would be really good for the modified N1.
-
At this price point I’m expecting a complexity of moving parts or number of pieces in the range of the R1 Assault Tank or X-wing. If it’ s more in line with the redone skiff -- as nicely executed as it was -- I, hmm... well, I will still buy it but wag my finger at Hasbro.
-
I think the whole Hot Rod styling of the modified N-1 will demand a treatment that's more like the ROGUE ONE Imperial Assault Tank.
-
We saw tons of scenes of them putting the thing together, so that creates a possible play pattern.
-

With all the work done to the fighter, it should be a whole new sculpt. I just hope they use the 2012 version as the base and not the 1999 Episode One version.

So is that how Hasbro intends to cut down on those expensive assembly costs? :D
Truthfully, a hot rodded N1 that you can tinker with is the stuff of George Lucas's dreams! It's like American Graffitti, A New Hope and The Phantom Menace all wrapped into one roaring little ship.

My focus this year so far has been entirely on vintage and Stan Solo stuff.

I really like this! The carded Mando is a nice touch and I absolutely love the stand! It will be a nice counterpart to the Razorcrest.
-
I wonder how much the price is affected by the carded figure.
-
What was the official price tag?
-
Echoing sentiments on this so far… the set looks fantastic. I love these new style ball-jointed stands (like we got with the Speeder Bike). The carded Mando looks great, glad it’s just a repack of The Rescue set version. It’s also a really nice touch that some for Grogu can supposedly be removed and replaced and R5 BAD dome. (I wish they would have just included one though.)
-
What was the official price tag?
$130 - so not too far off Jayson's initial ~$140 guess.

Some zoom-ins of the side panels on the boxed shots -
The Mando N-1 can accomodate BAD astromech droids (or at least the head) - I guess they mentioned this in the panel but I must have missed that.
Also a look at the place to store Din's jetpack/gear when he is flying the N-1 - you store it underneath whatever removable/configurable place there is for Grogu/R5-D4.

The Vintage Collection Facebook group got some good images of the N1 at SWCE, including the open cockpit. There's a small seat for Grogu that's removable, and it looks like a full astromech will fit in the droid socket.
The price is not outrageous. Considering the price of the Antoc Merrick X-Wing, I see the $129.99 price tag as comparable. Especially considering Hasbro won't be able to get re-use out of the design for future releases.

If you have pics or links to pics, please share - I see some reports that the socket fits a whole astromech while other reports say that it's just the head of a BAD astromech that will work. In the panel, Chris says "those heads that are removable from those droids can pop into the droid socket".
-
I just saw this on IG a moment ago. Emily showed off the plug in for the B-A-D dome sockets to one of the sites that was reporting from SWCE
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cq295NhMx03/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I'll see if I can find the images of the full rear compartment.
-
Thanks, Nick! That looks like it confirms it's just the BAD head that can be used/displayed.
Makes me wonder if they are planning a re-issue of the BAD R5-D4 for those that might not have one... would make a nice set with Peli and her pit droids to go with this too!
-
I just looked at the VC040 R5-D4 over at Galactic Figures. It's actually the B-A-D body, and the dome does come off. I would be shocked if Hasbro doesn't rerelease that in the near future.
-
I got one off of ebay before the prices skyrocket. Just in case.
-
They should have just included an R5 dome with the N-1. It seems weird to buy an R5-D4 just to pull its dome off and shove it in the N-1.

Hasbro Pulse posted a great video that highlights the features of Mando's modified N-1

I get what you are saying on R5 dome, Dave but Hasbro probably knows that 95% of people are probably going to pose it with Grogu's seat and they can probably sell R5s by himself anyway (for this or for Peli Hangar dioramas/set-ups).

With how fast the Razor Crest sold/funded, I guess I'm not surprised people really, really wanted to buy his new ship too ($132 is a lot cheaper than $375 too).

We don’t know how many were available to preorder. It could have been 10,000 or it could have been 50.

Yes, sorry, should have clarified. I grabbed an R5-D4 and a Death Star Droid last week. He still has the listing, but it's out of stock at the moment. I'd been watching it for a few weeks and grabbed one when it came back in stock.
-
I snagged an R5 off of eBay the minute that episode aired. It cost me a little under $30 with shipping.
So, Hasbro will probably re-release it on a Mando card pretty soon for the low low price of $17 plus tax.

Not necessarily Rob....I did a similar thing.

Tunghori has occasionally had R5-D4 in stock, and it's the B-A-D version. That's what you need for this N-1.

Has Hasbro said anything about the timing for when this would be shipping? Nice to see Jabba/Boba's Throne Room finally shipping.

My N-1 came today from GameStop :)
Quite a nice rendition of the ship and extremely well detailed with all the deep recesses, machinery, cockpit, stowage area, Grogu’s seat, and other working features. The dual stands are nice too, giving some flexibility on how the N-1 is displayed. Only real gripe is that it should have come with the R5-D4 head and Din’s rifle… Those parts wouldn’t have added much to the overall cost. Otherwise, the Mandolorian’s N-1 Starfighter is another fantastic addition to the Vintage line! I’ve shared some pics below… Enjoy 8)

Have we talked at all about whether there is anything new about these releases of Mando and Grogu?
-
Have we talked at all about whether there is anything new about these releases of Mando and Grogu?
They are both newish. Grogu's body/arms are all new and fully pre-posed with the exception of the head. Mando is mostly the version from "The Rescue" set, but includes forearms from another release without the slots for the fire effects.
Overall I LOVE the ship. We sure don't get enough vehicles in TVC considering this is the "World-Building" scale. I love that they've been including the flight display stands on the last few releases it really makes these ships display well and feel more high-end.
Great pics tman!

Got a payment notification for the N-1 starfighter. Hopefully the shipping notification will follow soon.
Hasbro has really been stacking up these deliveries! And I can't help but look at the calendar. So many things landed in September, including the end of the Haslab campaign. Was Hasbro deliberately trying to make those deliveries in order to boost their Q3 numbers? And now with even more shipping we're in the beginning of Q4. It comes across as potentially calculated.

Mine showed up from Amazon yesterday. Box was a little damaged, but the ship is incredible!
-
Yeah I opened mine yesterday. It's a solid piece. Feels about $30 too expensive, but there are deals out there.
The little engine cover piece... the instructions show it as A and B on each engine... are there supposed to be two of them or is that A and B options for where to use it?
I really like the half-sized stand that it can hover on, and that you can leave a wing off if you want. I'm going to try to work it into the shelves since all that is there. I'd been assuming it would have to be a stand alone thing.
-

I saw someone ask this on a facebook page. According to the answer there (I think it was Jayson), there's only one engine panel, but you can display it on the right or left side (however you feel, I guess).

That’s correct on there being only one engine panel piece with the N-1 which can attach to either engine (it confused me as well at first). That setup, however, is screen accurate to the way the ship appears in “The Book of Boba Fett” series where the left engine nacelle had more covering than the right one. In the show, during the building of the N-1 montage scene, you see Mando and Peli Moto attach the covering to the left engine.
-
Cool. Thanks guys.
That’s what the box art / photography seemed to show too so I thought that was the case. The instructions just made me question it.
-
$99.99 on Amazon right now.
-
I finally opened mine the other day and set it up on my shelf.
Overall I really like it, and especially at the the $100 price point I paid for it.
Thoughts:
- Its nicely detailed, but maybe not the best toy. Having some shooting missiles or electronics or something would have been cool, but I guess this was geared towards adults.
- I like the hatch to hold Mando's weapons. They should build this in to more vehicles.
- I like the options to have a Grogu or R5 droid port. Although not including the R5 dome is really kind of kick in the shorts. Now I've either got to pull the head off a perfectly good R5 droid or just leave Grogu trapped like a boy in the bubble. I really wished they had included the R5 dome for the extra 10 cents it would have cost them.
- I love the two stand options. The bigger stand really lets you pose it fairly dramatically.
So overall its really good, I just wish they had included an R5 dome.
-

I dug through my accessory bin baggies to find this extra R5-head and used it with the Mando N-1. If you bought this set back in the day, that's an easy way to get an R5 head without having to sacrifice a whole R5-D4 for the job.

Great tip Jeff. I’ve got that still packaged somewhere and will have to track it down. Grogu can ride on Mando’s lap.

Oh good call! I had an extra R5-D4 that I grabbed during a random Tunghori order, so I used that.
