2800 square feet?! ****. Congrats and goodluck.

Is it just the picture or did someone cover the kitchen walls with avocado?

There's a disproportionate negative to walks on pitchers' stats, but it's a level field since it'll affect everyone. (I feel the best strategy would have been to choose more by walks and strikeouts than win/loss record.)

Mainly, my point was whomever (or is that whoever) has Bonds is going to make a killing just on walks alone.  :P

(btw, Gammons annoys the heck out of me.)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: If You Lost Your Collection....
« on: May 10, 2004, 08:45 PM »
My collection is loose and most of the figures are fairly easy to get, even the vintage. Despite that, I know it'll take time to replace the collection. I'll pick up a few here and there and whenever I chance upon them as my mood dictates, but I doubt I'd devote a lot of time pursuing replacements.

What really blows my mind is Bonds was O-fer on the day, was, I think, 0-15 coming into the ballgame, and has a sinus/ear infection that's throwing off his balance and timing and is serious enough that the doctor  recommended that he not play for 10 days.

OCB, one thing about the fantasy league... I noticed in your initial thread that no points are awarded for walks though pitchers are dinged for each one issued.

In his Friday radio segment (which he got because of his personality), AJ was about as subdued as I've ever heard him. You can tell he was still numb from the criticism even after they had a team meeting to address it. He said he thought he was getting along great with everyone, so the the article came as a complete shock.

Publicly, everyone is playing nice. The comments I've read from the players and organization brass downplay the incident as past and buried. Even Torrealba, the catcher given the vote of confidence by one of the players in the article, argued that he knows his role is as backup.

If he heeds the wake-up call and learns how not to irritate everyone, the gang tackle would have been a good thing. He'll need to use that new-found congeniality on his next team.

I think he'll be moving on next year but not because of the discontent. He won his arbitration for 3.5M this year and the Giants won't offer a long-term deal with an annual salary anywhere near that.

The Bopensiero award for April:

Jim Tracy, 4/23 -- 4 intentional passes. Count 'em, 4 base-on-(no)balls to Bonds in one game.

Jake Peavy (SD), 4/21 -- Up 8-0 in the 6th, too chicken s- to try to get Bonds out. Pitches aren't even close.

Somebody bring me back.  Why do we need it?

OCB, your boy, AJ Piroshki, is apparently hearing the boo birds inside the club house too.

Giants pitchers rip into Pierzynski

I'm not big on anonymous sources, but if this is true, I hope they can settle it.

Forgive me Lord for the hurt I will put on any pre-schooler who stands between me and these toys.  ;)

Amazing. My nephews' interest in Star Wars is marginal, but they are going to freak when they see these.

You won't get back through trade-in what you'll blow on replacing the window. Kill two birds with one stone and just duct and cover -- you'll make consumer advocates and Tom Ridge proud. (Hopefully the cops won't have an issue with the clarity of your new rear window.)

Oh, it's as good a time as any to brush up on your paintless dent repair skills, you know, for the next time chunks of ice pelt your new wheels.

Other Toy Lines / Re: What is Your Favorite Figure "Scale"?
« on: April 22, 2004, 12:42 AM »
I'm partial to 3.75" figures (aka, the Loomis scale). They're big enough to allow for a good likeness yet small enough that a large collection is manageable space-wise. Also, most vehicles can be made to scale.

I know the LOTR figures, as is, appear to be doing well. But had this (and Planet of the Apes) been 3.75"... Oh, mama!

Jedi Idej, this actually might be the thread where we were talking about minis...we merged a bunch of old threads together ;)

Whew! I thought you got me again. I was convinced I really did suffer a brain fart until I ran across this thread.

Anyway, I emailed iconusa about the discrepancy. Hopefully they write back with an answer.

I wish I wasn't going senile, otherwise I'd link to the other thread this was talked about to give credit where credit is due.

These are on pre-order at iconusa. The booster packs are expected to retail for $10 and are on pre-order for a lot less than what amazon lists them.

The site states there are 60 miniatures --super-rare, rare, uncommon, and common. The super-rare aren't included in the starter set, which comes with 16 random figures, a die, book, and blah, blah, blah.

According to someone in the other thread, if the pattern for these rpg continue, the super-rares will be just variations of the main characters. I don't know if he means a different pose or a different costume.

When I first saw the pictures, I was impressed with the human faces and proportions. They're a lot more cleaner and detailed than the Heroclix. According to someone in that other thread, former Galoob sculptors worked on these.

edit: Crap. I just noticed the date on that gaming site someone posted above. Too recent to dismiss. Until iconusa confirms or makes corrections, take the info I gleaned off their site with a grain of salt.

Since the baby will pop out during the start of baseball season, you should give him/her a baseball-related middle name.

"Balco" has a nice ring.

I look at it this way, with an angle pulled from the movie Dogma, suprisingly, that its better to have an idea, than a belief. You can change your ideas.

I still go to church every sunday, btu I cant understand why the church wants to mourn the death of Christ, instead of celebrating the fact that we get eternal life.

Kevin

Not ragging on you, Kevin; just having a little fun. You said you were a renegade Catholic. Truth is, I'm more removed from the processions than you. You go to church weekly. I pass by church... on my way to look for toys.
