Okay, don't know if there was a thread over here or not, but I couldn't find it!
Just wanting to see how you guys took to the two night season premiere?? What an explosive ending, huh??
-
Real quick, it's been intense as hell, with some real surprises right out of the box. It's been well worth the wait.
-
What an explosive ending, huh??
No pun intended, right? ;)
All I can say is, "Wow!" As The Core said, it's been really intense from the beginning and from what the commericals are saying, it's gonna be a different kind of show this year in terms of pace. It seems like Jack and co. are just one step behind Fayed but Fayed is just doing his job to lay a path of destruction before Jack finally catches up to him. I mean they're way ahead of even the gov't which is looking pretty incompetent at the moment. I just think Wayne feels he has large shoes to fill in regards to David, but in the end I think this test is going to strenghten him.
-
Being tortured for the past two years has definatley hardened Jack up and I love the part where he literally took a bite outta crime. I didn't really care for him wimping out last night and breaking down. My god how long did it take him to get a cell phone? This show simply wouldn't exist if he didn't have one. Four hours was a bit too much too swallow over a two night period, but I appreciated it. They always have to set up a cliffhanger before commerical, so that was particularly unenjoyable as always. Looks like it's going to be a kick-ass season so I'm really looking forward to the rest of it....along with Prison Break.
-
Great topic... this is my favorite show on television. I'm addicted to it. I can see if someone just now gets into the show, it might be a little hard to really get into it (I have a friend who just started, he has all these questions about understanding Jack - the only thing I know to tell him is that he needs to see the previous 5 seasons, especially with how season 5 ended due to what happened in season 4 - the cross overs are outstanding). But being into all the seasons so far, I think the way Jack reacted to how hour # 4 ended was perfect. He's devoted his life to prevent the unthinkable from happening, but now it just happened.
He's a broken man who seems to have only one thing left - love for this country. He's lost his wife, it's impossible to have a relationship with Audrey, his daughter is no longer part of his life, almost all his friends have been killed, he just had to shoot Curtis, etc. He seems to be cursed because everyone he loves dies but he lives on, and only experiences more and more grief the older he gets. What a character. And tough as they get. I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of this season, and saw the preview where he has a gun to the head of the guy that was pulling President Logan's strings last season.
Wow. I think after what just happened, Jack is going to be even more of a bad a$$.
;)
-
Missed Sunday night's opener because our power went out 15 minutes before 8pm and was out for almost two hours.
-
My question is: do you think Jack killed Curtis or did he disable him? Looked pretty lethal especially since Jack had to avoid all the armor Curtis was wearing, but they haven't said for certain... I liked Curtis. :-\ Seems like the writers kill off all the likeable characters... maybe I should start liking Chloe more. >:(
-
Looked to me like a clean shot to the neck. I don't understand why Jack couldn't have disabled him as he's done it before without killing the shooter.
-
I agree Jack is a broken man!! When interrogating the suspect with Assad, he couldn't make himself go further, he took the terrorist's word that he didn't know anything! What he saw in his eyes wasn't that the terrorist didn't know anything, but the fear he had. It's the same kind of fear and pain Jack felt for the past 2 years with the Chinese! It took Assad to finish the questioning!!
Oh and Curtis is indeed dead. The guys at the other site pointed out that the actor's name was guest starring and not just one of the regulars He's gone from the show for good. Oh and the 24 website's episode recap states that Jack had to kill Curtis. So Curtis is gone.
The ending was phenomenal! I had a inkling that what occurred would happened, just because they were going so far outside of the city, it left it open for something to go off, without it killing the large amounts of people had it gone off in the LA area!!
Glad to see 24 fans in here, it's only the begining folks, it's going to be one hell of a ride! Oh and it'll take a while, but Jack will come back to form, no worries!! ;)
-
Yeah, I'm really into it too...
I just started last season so I'm fairly new. I bought seasons 1-5 on DVD and in the middle of 3 right now.
-
Good luck with catching up Chris. I love this show, but can not bring myself to watch the older seasons, mainly after knowing all the suprises in them, I don't need to watch them again.
I listen to Rush Limbaugh a lot, and he's a big fan of the show and friends with the cast and producers. He's seen the first 8 episodes of the show and has said that the next episode has a big "oh ****" moment in it similar to the end of hour four.
He didn't give anything away though, which is pretty cool.
-
Missed Sunday night's opener because our power went out 15 minutes before 8pm and was out for almost two hours.
They had a commercial on Monday saying that they would sell the first four hours on DVD starting yesterday. Kind of a pain to have to go pay for a disc, but that is an option if you really need to see it.
-
I just started last season so I'm fairly new. I bought seasons 1-5 on DVD and in the middle of 3 right now.
Well funny, I got into the first season, but completely avoided seasons 2-4. I did not want to watch them because of their addicting behavior!! But I did catch season 5, and it was the best season yet!! So you definately have something to look forward too. And some issues from season 3 or 4 come back to haunt Jack in season 5!! You'll see!!
Anton, there's always bit torrent. Hell even before they aired, the complete 4 episode season premiere was on bit torrent!
-
Yeah, I'm really into it too...

Awesome! I have seasons 1-5 on DVD too. Watched each season over the past 6 months. I was so glad that season 5 was released last month. I think that each season has gotten better, but I really like the early seasons with the Nina Myers twists.
;)
-
Nina; that bitch >:(
-
He didn't give anything away though, which is pretty cool.
In contrast to Drudge, who posted the Nuke spoiler on his site Monday.
-
Ouch....that blows. I think he's the only person who saw it in advance that gave anything away.
-
Drudge posted a headline "24 about to go nuclear?" or something like that... but he gave no specifics. Reading the headline I was still surprised the nuke went off this early in the season.
-
As shocking as the nuke was, I was more shocked about Jack taking out Curtis. What next? Jack giving Chloe a Columbian Necktie?
-
Drudge posted a headline "24 about to go nuclear?" or something like that... but he gave no specifics. Reading the headline I was still surprised the nuke went off this early in the season.
Really? I read it as the nuke was going to go off during Tuesday's episode.
C'mon, you had to know five minutes into it that it was going to end with a detonation!
-
For whatever reason, I didn't think that a nuke would go off... at least not that early. But it was well done I think. So sick to think that could really happen.
I thought that someone was going to die for sure in hour # 4 that was important in the series, and I really thought it was going to be Curtis. Sucks, I liked that guy. I don't think any character is safe other than Jack.
Anyone know if Michael Novik will be back this season? Or Aaron Pierce?
;)
-
Really? I read it as the nuke was going to go off during Tuesday's episode.

Sometime during the middle of episode 4 I was figuring out times and I got the hunch a bomb might go off. But I didn't think that from the get-go. It seemed like the father story was underdeveloped, so I thought he'd be around a little while longer.
-
Well...this isn't the first time a nuke went off in the show.
Anyone remember season 2?
I'm just curious about the other four....I'm assuming the guy programmed them already?
-
I bet one more Nuke will go off, where though is anyone's guess??
I want to see Aaron too, he along with Mike were real stand up guys!! But who I really want to see is, Ex-President Logan!! I so want to see what happened with him! What a scumbag. I was so happy to see him get taken in!!
And yes, Jack is loosing everyone around him! I think if anyone goes next, it'll be Buchanan! Just because it'd affect so many people at CTU, as well as Karen Hays at the White Housel!! It'd be a huge loss to the team. Loosing a leader is never easy.
-
Well an attack could be on DC area too where the president is... what if Karen Hays dies? How would Buchanan react? Yikes.
I hope the following people don't die...
- Buchanan
- Aaron
- Novik
I think that the ex-president does make an appearance...
And yeah I remember season 2, but didn't Mason bring down the plane that had the nuke in it into an isolated desert?
;)
-
Yes he did Chewie...but the nuke going off still created mass hysteria.
-
Well an attack could be on DC area too where the president is...
Hard to get from LA to DC in 20 hours...
in a van... ;D
-

The Bandit and Snowman could do it! ;D

-
They'll keep in in the LA area just to keep CTU in the thick of it. I think the furthest away they've ever gone was to Santa Barbara. I'm still trying to figure out how Jack got there from LA in 20 minutes. :o
-
Didn't the missile in Season 4 launch out of Indiana or something?
-
Didn't the missile in Season 4 launch out of Indiana or something?
Iowa, I think.
-
I missed the entire season, so I don't know, but where did it land??
-
It was shot down over LA. Season 4 was fantastic. If you haven't seen it, rent it.
-
In your opinion, which was better, season 4 or 5???
5 was phenomenal, don't' know if it could be beat?
-
Season 4 was much better than 5 IMO even though that's where I got hooked on 24. Someone was so much more alive in that season that I kinda missed in the 5th season. That doesn't make it any more enjoyable by no means, but season 4 just takes the cake for me....Marwan - Mummy
-
I think 4 was probably better. I mean, both were excellent. 4 just had a ton going on. And the bad guy was the Mummy.
-
Really, better than 5. Well this I have to look into then!! I think the library down the street has it!! Awesome, guess I'll be renting that next. Thanks for the heads up!!
-
Finally watched the first four episodes last night.
And all I can say is, Holly effin' sheet!
-
Well the reason I'm wondering where the other nukes could be is because in season 6 they've stated there have been attacks in St. Louis as well as Philadelphia. I don't think all the other nukes will be in the LA area, but who knows.
But they needed a "special guy" to program the nuke that went off with a device they acquired - I wonder if the other 4 nukes still require some sort of activation device?
Ranking the seasons might be fun... I've seen each season twice now, buying them on DVD when they go on sale is hard for me to resist.
I'd say here's my rankings of the seasons -
Top 5
#1 - Season 4
#2 - Season 2
#3 - Season 5
#4 - Season 1
#5 - Season 3
But hell, they're all great!
;)
-
How can you put season #1 at number four?
That's blasphemy!
;)
-
Holy ****! Jack's brother is that guy. $10 says that the kid is Jack's too.
-
Oh snap, didn't even think of that!! I bet you're right!!
However I think the whole love triangle is getting tired! I mean come on, why does there always have to be some sort of love interest! Can't he just mourn over losing Audrey for the season?? But otherwise, I liked the huge twist that it was his brother!!
I wonder what James Cromwell will bring to the role as Jack's father??
-
I could do without the soap opera crap too - but nonetheless it appeals to a certain cross-section of their target audience.
As for Jack's brother - I assumed that I was the only one who didn't realize it because season 5 was the first one I watched since season 1... am I reading here that it was new information this week?
-
Am I reading here that it was new information this week?
Yep
-
No, not even long time fans I think saw this coming! That was totally from left field! I mean all we saw of Paul Crane was that he was one of the jugglers directing President Logan on what to do! But that's it, nothing to even hint that he was Jack's brother.
-
Well then isn't this a real Luke-I-Am-Your-Father type moment...
It's also kinda ridiculous. One of my big complaints about Alias (when my girlfriend was watching) was all the inter-familial stuff they had going on... turned the CIA into one big soap opera.
Shame when they constantly do the same thing with a show I actually like.
-
I realized Gray was Jack's brother when they said "Jack had a brother" since we'd seen him in the previews for tonight's episode and we hadn't seen him yet. It's one of those twist the writers love to throw out. Edit: But as for anytime before that, no idea.
We saw Fayed had some suitcases in the van, but did he have all 4 of them?? I can see that they would have someone plant in the presidential bunker... there's always a baddie on the inside.
-
there's always a baddie on the inside.
Anyone else think it'll be Morris? He was Mick/Mr. Jones on La Femme Nikita afterall. Besides, he seems shady enough that the brit looking for a new detanator guy will find his way to Morris.
As for Jack's brother? I did not see that coming!
E...

I have watched every season and I was still like holy **** when Jack called him. My wife had forgotten who the guy was from last season so she didn't understand why I was freaking out about it.
-
I was hoping Donald Sutherland would play Jack's dad...would've been cool.
-
$10 says that the kid is Jack's too.
Good call - my wife said the same thing.
If you really look at the kid, it's quite obvious!
-

Yep and the kid's name is Josh Bauer. Josh starts with J, Jack starts with J. I'd say it's a no-brainer.
-
I really, really, hope they don't have a mole! Man can't CTU go through a season without a mole!! >:(
-
I'll call it now. Chloe's husband is the mole and she off's him in the season finale and then becomes a field agent :P
-

I hope it's the other way around... Morrie pops her and releaves us of Chloe's whining and grumpiness. Of course, Chloe did mow down some baddie with a machine gun a couple seasons ago.
-
Does Karen Hays belong in National Security?? Or she trying to avoid what happened in WWII and the Japanese?
-
So I'm watching this show for the first time this season (except for one episode I saw a year or two ago), and it's good and all, but there's one thing I can't seem to get past--just how connected everything seems to be. Character A knows Character Z, who knows Character B, who knows Character Y, and so on. It's the same problem (or at least one of many) I have with the Star Wars prequels, and to a greater extent, the EU, and to an even greater extent, the crappy SW fanfic. Maybe that makes it easier to tell the story or something--I don't know--but it just makes everything feel real small and unrealistic and soap opera-y.
So is this a reasonable thing to take issue with, or should I just forget it, and enjoy the show for what it is?
-
Most of the people knew people from previous seasons, because they all worked together. The only new connections this season are Jack's brother and father. That's kind of convenient based on what Graham did last season.
-
Yeah, the dad and the brother is kinda mainly what I'm talking about. A can buy the people at (in?) CTU all knowing each other, as well as many of the people working around the president.
I gotta say, I was about ready to throw in the 24 towel tonight, until James Cromwell showed up at the end. What an excellent, underrated actor he is. I'll probably stick around just to see what happens with his character.

Putting differences aside, I completely understand what you're saying. I have a friend who is watching it for the first time this season, who is saying basically the same thing that you are regarding how connected everythings seems to be. Seeing all the previous 5 seasons makes it easier to allow I think for all the personal connections/etc. that the writers try to intertwine in the script. For me it's enjoyable that way, but if I hadn't seen the previous seaons I'd actually probably have a hard time to get into it at this point.
I hope you give this season a chance, because it really is a fun show and my favorite on TV. Sometimes Target has Season 1 on sale for just $19.99, which really is a great buy and you might like it. I jumped in on the 24 bandwagon really in Season 4, after seeing bits and pieces of the other seasons. After Season 4, I bought Season 1 and was hooked.
I don't know if anyone posted this or not, but this is coming out this year from Mcfarane -

I think that figure looks like a cross between Keifer and James Hetfield from Metallica.

I think that figure looks like a cross between Keifer and James Hetfield from Metallica.
It looks to me like I'll finally be able to make my very own custom Chris Rhoads action figure.
(Has there ever been a Sandra Bullock action figure?)
-
That must be the one they had to resculpt from scratch after Kiefer destroyed the first during an all-night party.
-
heh heh, check out this that a forum photonovel maker from Scum did -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ2Yui3ujug
A lot of 24 is an influence on what goes on in the photonovels that I work on (to a certain degree when Rykrof deals with terrorists situations).
:P
-
Oh man, what an ending!! His own father killed his son. I thought the old man was crooked, but when Graham tried to have him killed, man oh man!! Looks like the first arc is coming to an end, now we'll see what the old man will do for the second arc of the season!!
-
I guess I'm beginning to know how these writers think after 6 seasons. I knew that the engineer MaCarthy was going to pick was Morris and I knew Jack's father was more involved than he was letting on.
I was a little suprised he killed Graem though.
-
Ditto. I suspected it would be Morris last week, actually, what with the other British guy saying he found someone that wouldn't help willingly. It was more obvious this week once they had the picture that couldn't be unscrambled until the end of the episode, and Morris had to leave RIGHT THEN. At least they weren't really reusing the "dying family member distracts key CTU techie" thing again.
As for Papa Bauer, it would have been more surprising if it wasn't preceded by the "we can't move him for ten more minutes" thing ten minutes before the end of the episode and then Phillip telling Jack he needed a few minutes before Jack (and everyone else) left him alone with the brother. Huge hints that immediately made me remember how he shot the goon in the beginning of the episode, which was also fishy. It was just a question of whether he'd kill the brother or let him go.
I know, I know, if I'm going to complain, why am I watching? Well, I'm a huge fan of the first two seasons and know the show's capable of better than this. I cross my fingers for the day that the creators realize they don't need increasingly huge threats and silly attempts at twists (evil brother) to make an exciting show.
-
I was all for the Graham thing, I thought it was awesome. Also a little surprised that the old man killed him...
BUT - I do have to admit I think it was a little too convenient for Morris to be the one the terrorists want to use to set off the bombs. I totally saw that coming as well - they should have instead had it be a new character with no past connections to anything.
:P
-
I guess the question is, will Morris make it or will he be the next casualty??
-
24 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWUaQVZHzyI)
Spoilers to tomorrow's episode!! ;) Thanks to Dresden for finding it!!
-
Tonight is 2 hours long, correct?
:P
-
Correct....I'm still kind of wondering why Fox is throwing us another two hour episode. It's going to be hard without Prison Break tonight.
-
Correct....I'm still kind of wondering why Fox is throwing us another two hour episode.
I think because one story arc is coming to a close!! The whole 3 nukes left should be answered tonight. I think the rest of the season will involve Jack's daddy, and his organization!!
What I want to know is who the rest of the organizations members are? Remember from last season when Logan was conferring with Graham, after the phone call you can see Graham talking to other members of the Organization. They're going to come into play sometime soon!!
Anyhow I can't wait for tonights episode, for those that were missing the action, tonight should be action packed!!
-
While I'm thrilled tonight's episode is two hours, I'm ticked that I have to wait another week for the next Prison Break episode.
Life can be so bittersweet.
-
Last night was pretty good. Two hours of it is fun... I wish every week it was two hours.
I like how Jack's dad set him up, really looking forward to next week.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the situation progressing regarding the discussions of "removing" the president.
:P
-
Well the thing that I liked was that Palmer's right hand man didn't sell him out that quick!! I liked that he was offended at the thought! But once things got serious, difficult decisions must be made! I wonder if they'd assassinate yet another Palmer?? Someone could infer an association with the Kennedy's?
Last nights 2 parter was great. Definitely a couple of scream at the TV moments; where the blond shot whats his face and took off with Morris. Also when Jack's sister in law decides not to tell Jack, damn makes you want to yell at the TV.
-
Also when Jack's sister in law decides not to tell Jack, damn makes you want to yell at the TV.
That's the alcohol!! ;D ;D
-
I'd hope they don't assassinate Palmer. How could they play that off and get away with it? I bet it's going to be something more devious, like exposing him for cooperating is Assad in some way, or something like that. I think they've shown us too many people in the background pulling strings for it to be a simple bullet in the head deal with Palmer - there's something bigger going on.
But that's not what interests me the most. It's their motive. They have to want something more than simply to intern all the Muslims to prevent more terrorist attacks.

I doubt we will see an assassination. The Fox execs have not been too keen on it in the past (surprising, coming from Fox). When Air Force One was shot down, that is about as close as we got...and they never really said if the President died or not. The Fox execs said they did not want to show the assassination of a sitting President.
-
They did assassinate the former president... :-\ To me, from what the aide was saying, the needed Wayne out of the picture and it sounded like some way of being offed.
Ex-Prez Logan might shed some light on the conspiracy group though.
-
Ex-Prez Logan might shed some light on the conspiracy group though.
I couldn't stand him in season 5. He's such a character you love to hate. I wouldn't mind seeing a cameo of him though. Might be kinda interesting to see how he's dealing with life after what he did.
-
Supposedly Logan is in this season, at least according to a preview I read by Stephen King who got a sneak peak at the series.
:P
-
Also when Jack's sister in law decides not to tell Jack, damn makes you want to yell at the TV.
That's the alcohol!! ;D ;D
No, no, no, not I!! I like to have all my senses at their peak when watching this show!!! Cause I don't want to miss a thing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyTTX45fqus) ;)
-
Oh man, Logan is back!!! :o What a ending!! I can't wait to see how this plays out! The ending definitely took me by surprise, I was expecting Marilyn to come back and shoot Jack's dad, and then when he was gone, I thought he would be on the other end of the line, but no way was I expecting Logan!! :o
Oh and fantastic episode!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
-
Fantastic episode indeed!!!! I was really starting to hate Jack's dad until the end. Where the hell did he go? Logan reminded me of Saddam Hussien for some reason......
-

Only not in a rat hole...
For some reason (after seeing next weeks previews), I think Logan might have several conditions in helping but mainly getting Martha back.
Yeah, it was cool. Where'd Philip go?? At least he gave a clue as to the next step. As for Morris, that's cool he almost lost himself in a bottle again, but thought better of it. Hopefully that'll mean he's pulling it back together. The whole Milo getting an award thing was kind of "Whoa!" I mean it's cool that Milo got a little action, but sad that Morris' situation is being overlooked... sure he's a contract worker, and made the triggers workable, but he went through a lot before caving in... of course, Morris says he doesn't want anyone's sympathies either.
-
I think I picked the wrong season to start watching this show.
-
You chose poorly.
I've been disappointed with everything beyond Season 2.
I know Jack works for CTU, but maybe somewhere along the line he could get demoted/promoted to kill a different kind of bad guy (outside of terrorists).
-
You chose poorly.
Yeah, this season isn't the best one.
I know Jack works for CTU, but maybe somewhere along the line he could get demoted/promoted to kill a different kind of bad guy (outside of terrorists).
Is Jack actually back on the CTU roster now or is he "rogue" and granted special status?
-
Is Jack actually back on the CTU roster now or is he "rogue" and granted special status?
that is a good question. last year he was actually working for the secretary of defense when he got dragged into that whole thing. Jack might have actually been off the payroll for a while now. maybe that is hour 25 where jack hands ctu a bill for his services.
-
I have to admit so far this isn't my favorite season (I'd kind of like a different plot line in this season, maybe dealing with Jack trying to get out of China, that could have been pretty cool) but I'm looking forward to tonight's episode.
I doubt that Palmer is dead. Also I want to see what Jack does to that Russian guy. I'm hoping that they make that the bulk of tonight's episode.
:P
-
Prison Break has totally been overshadowing everything on 24 IMO. I get so pumped up after that show, then it's time for an hour let down. I'm thinking I might just bail on this season compeletly and wait for the DVD release. :-\
-

I agree. The only parts I like watching right now are when they involve Jack. All the other President/Tom Lennox stuff is boring me. Give me Jack and some action.
-
Don't give up yet, next week has the triumphant return of Agent Pierce! My guess is that Bill Buchanan "recruits" Pierce to aid in the rescue of Jack from the Russian Embassy.
Nice touch last night though with Bauer trimming the Russians fingernails for him! ;D
-
Wow, Jack's stuck in another embassy... ::)
Groundbreaking.
I think I'm going to bail on this season - the same thing happened last year around this time.
Long live AD!
:'(
-
Actually I really liked last evening's episode, I thought it was just what the season needed.
The VP (wasn't he Curly Bill in Tombstone?) is awesome, he has the kickarse demeanor that has been absent from the White House. I love it and his reaction to when he found out Jack had taken a hostage in the Russian embassy was great.
Also I really liked how Lennox turned in the agents who were behind the assassination attempt. Awesome stuff and I have a new respect for the character now.
I also like the embassy stuff, last time Jack got out quickly in the Chinese embassy, this time he's in a different situation with getting caught. So I thought that was a good play by the writers.
Agent Pierce is awesome. I don't know if he'll get recruited or not to go and try and get Jack out, but I think next week is going to be an important episode.
Consider me totally back into this season after what happened last night.
:P

Yes, he was.
Powers Boothe (what a kick ass name) also stars in Deadwood on HBO.

i forsee the 24 America starting ww3, its just about to get crazy on that show again. which has been lacking since Palmer's days.
i mean every presdent since him only cares about America and kisses the ass of every ambassador in sight.
about the episode, i was extremely happy to see the office story pushed to the background, I'm so sick of that morris guy and why can;t Chloe get killed or at least quit making that look. i mean they killed off tony & Michelle for Chloe to take centerstage?
but aside from this season i really don't get how there going to make two more days and a movie? this show is great, but i can admit that it's nearing the voyager status.
on a side note for future seasons, i'm thinking they should start jumping backwards in the story.
-
and why can;t Chloe get killed or at least quit making that look. i mean they killed off tony & Michelle for Chloe to take centerstage?
That made me laugh....Chloe just wouldn't be the character she is without that smirk. I saw her once on a late night talk show and her personallity mirrors the character that she plays - seriously. I've always liked her just because of that look and the fact that she can be a little bitch.
-
I'd take a run at her. ;)
-
I'd take a run at her. ;)
That goes without saying. What with her always talking about "opening ports" and finding "backdoor access."
That's my kind of girl.
E...
What? Get yer heads outta the gutter! :P
-
Interesting episode... Suvarov allows CTU to go in on the Russian Consulate to go after Markov (though it looks like they killed him). Jack was kind of expendable but they saved him. The return of Aaron and Martha, who breaks down and stabs Charles... so is the former President going to die? I think he'll survive and learn his lesson to stay away from the ex-psycho wife.
I almost forgot about Ricky Schroeder being on...
-
So now Martha and Aaron are an item, and Martha freaks out (that's what happened right? I looked away for a split second) and stabs Charles in the whatever, and now he's going to probably die in the ambulance?
It's like 90210 with international terrorism.
-
I just wanted to ask if anyone else is getting an "Evil Atticus Finch" vibe from Vice President Daniels. I'm really unfamiliar with most of Powers Boothe's stuff, but it just seems like he's channeling Gregory Peck here, but with a dash of nasty, for good measure. He looks like him, he sounds like him, he has the same kind of authoritative presence. . . Is it just me?
Anyway, solid episode. Things seem to be ramping up a little as we reach the midway point of the season, which is good. I'm still not hooked on it the way a lot of you guys are, but you never know. . .
-
I just want to know what happened to Rich Schroder. He looks like he's about 50, dude's only a year older than I am.
Last night's episode was good but about half-way through, when I'm usually pissed that there's only 20 more minutes, I couldn't believe how much time was left. It was kind of a slow episode. Still, that's twice as fast as a normal show.

I wonder if some of it isn't due to the muscle mass he's built. He's quite pumped up now, even in the face... or child actor syndrome?? He looked that way in the commercials for NYPD Blue when that was running. Never watched it personally.
-
perfect description matt,
and Logan died if you guys don't know what the flatline sound means, I'm happy to see him go. i really could have lived out without the return of the crazy president/first lady story arc. but that was a great episode, and it looks like its gonna get alot better. I'm thinking were gonna have 24 goes to war at last.
but rick looked like Luke skywalker in the Jedi knight games, so yes friggin old. I'm used to him being the male nurse on scrubs, so his tough act came off as funny to me...
-
and Logan died if you guys don't know what the flatline sound means... I'm happy to see him go.
How many times have we seen characters flatline only to be brought back with the use of defibulaters? He flatlined at the end of the show so their could be hope left. But he said Martha's name before it happened, so it could be a big sign he's gone. If he dies, then I guess we know he was only trying to redeem himself... not only to himself, but to Martha since he regrets all he did to her in the past (especially all the mindgames the previous season. No wonder she's institutionalized again.)
I'm happy to see him go. i really could have lived out without the return of the crazy president/first lady story arc.
Actually, showing Martha's breakdown was a big contrast to last season, where she seemed sane and how screwed Charles made her now. He kept telling her she's crazy and playing games that it messed her up. Aaron is pretty strong to stay with her through this traumatic period. Still, I thought she stabbed him more in the shoulder than in the neck.
-
and Logan died if you guys don't know what the flatline sound means, I'm happy to see him go.
If I had a nickel for every time someone flat lined in a coming-next-week preview only to be revived later, I'd have a **** of a lot of nickels.
-
I loved last night's episode, it was great seeing Suvarov react the way he did and allow for the embassy to be attacked. That was totally kickass.
As for Logan, I love the character. He's the guy you love to hate, and he adds a lot to the show. I hope they don't kill him off but not too many people last more than 2-3 seasons, and this is his 3rd season on the show.
Martha... I thought she was half nuts last season, now I know she is completely nuts. But she did get through to the Suvarov's at least, but I credit the Russian president for making a fast decision like he did. Wow. And it was fun seeing Aaron back, very nice.
VP Daniels is awesome. I love this character, he has more backbone than anyone in power I think that we've seen. Though I do think he's a little trigger happy and I hate that he's twisting the attack on Palmer to blackmail a Muslim country. I can see he's trying to protect the country though so this sort of thing is usually controversial.
So... who is actually ALIVE from season one still?
Here's my count -
Jack Bauer - as we know he's the man, has appeared in all 6 seaons of course.
Milo Pressman - appeared in season 1, and now in season 6 as a replacement to Edgar Stiles.
Aaron Pierce - has appeared in all 6 seasons now.
Kim Bauer - some web forums say that she will appear later in Day 6 but apparently the actress has indicated that she does not appear in this season.
Mike Novik - the actor has not confirmed if he will return in Day 6 but he could still appear, since in the past Mike was typically introduced several episodes into the season. Maybe Martha will contact him if Charles Logan dies?
:P
-
Just got through watching this on myspace and gotta say, wow what an episode!!
First off, I hope they don't kill off President Logan. As much as I hated him last season, I think having him come back added a lil extra oomph to the season. I really do like his character, and how he's trying to redeem himself. I hope he does make it and while still on house arrest, is able to show Martha that he has changed.
On to Martha. Wow, Jean Smart is really playing the disturbed aspect perfectly. I mean you can see how much Logan screwed with her head in the last season. She's doing a great job. When I saw that knife, I knew what was going to happen, but didn't think it would get that far. I knew she would grab it, and thought she would menace Logan, but go through with stabbing him, just jaw dropping wow! But like someone mentioned, glad she was able to compose herself to make the call to Subarov.
Speaking of, I too am glad he made the right decision. I mean after all, his Consul disobeyed a direct order, he knew what he had to do!!
The Vice President!! Awesome, simply awesome!! I knew Curly Bill er Powers Booth was going to bring some power back into the White House! While I too may not agree with what he's doing, it's good to see such a decisive President! He has such a commanding presence and his voice is powerful!! I'm not going to lie, I yelled out Curly Bill during the episode!! :P
And finally great ending sequence, wish there could have been a bit more, but it was satisfying!! Ricky Schroeder looks rough. Like he's really been through a tough life. I think he will compliment Jack very well. Jack was awesome as always getting out right before he was going to be executed!!
Oh and what an ending, the Russian consulate taken down, Jack freed, President Logan flatlining, the location of Markov discovered, and one drone nuke ready to be armed and launched!!! A cliffhanbger ending indeed!!

I'm pretty sure Aaron Pierce did not show up in Season 1. I would have to go back and check, but I don't think we saw him at all. Besides Jack, I think Tony, Michelle and the first President Palmer were the only ones in all five seasons before this one. Since they killed all of them off, Jack is the only character in all six seasons, unless you count the pictures on Wayne's desk of his brother.

Sorry boyo, but Aaron Pierce was in Season 1, it's where we were introduced to him!! I remember because he's always played Secret Service type characters in movies, so it was no surprise to see him again as one!! Oh and for reference, since I wasn't sure about seasons 2-3!Aaron Pierce (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Pierce)

I must be losing my mind...I haven't watched Season 1 in quite some time so I guess I just forgot about him.

Another interesting episode...
No mention of the Logans so their part maybe done? ??? And Weasel Chuck is indeed dead!
Audrey -dead ??? So much for the eye candy. Still, can't wait to see how Jack exacts his revenge on those that killed her.
Nadia - the insider at CTU ???
Daniels being the Hawk and going after unnamed Mideast country.
Biggest disappointment for me is killing off Assad. I was hoping to see more of Alexander Siddig and that's all we get?! >:( Knowing he was going to be on this season swayed me to get involved.
-
I don't buy that Nadia's a traitor. Too convenient. Of course, I don't know who it could be...maybe Morris? It would explain how he caved to the terrorists so quickly, even knowing help was on the way, but then his behavior after he was rescued makes no sense.
-
Yeah, it can't be Morris. Milo is tempting. But his reactions don't make sense either. Nadia is the only one who actually does make sense... unless you chalk it up to a conspirator (part of Bauer Sr's group) who had access to the network and patched them in, hoping for a successful attack to motivate the country to war.
-
Silver Spoons is the mole.
-
Silver Spoons is the mole.
That dude just freaks me out everytime I see him. I can picture him riding around on top of a train in his down time at CTU.
-
Silver Spoons is the mole.
He's a Jack wannabe. I guess he went back to crediting himself as "Ricky" instead of Rick as I heard he was in NYPD Blue.
-
I wonder if they're grooming Rick as a replacement for Jack. I know Kiefer has said he thinks 24 can continue without Jack. They just seem to be cast from the same mold.
-
Silver Spoons is the mole.
Exactly!!! I bet dollars to pesos that Ricky Schroeder is the mole!! He came up with Nadia's name too damn fast!! You could also tell it in his mannerisms that there was something else behind his actions!!! I agree, Ricky is the one!! Oh and on a side note, iFett I too noticed how he's back to using Ricky!!! :P
As far as the episode, it was fantastic!! Wow, what Curly Bill Daniels is doing is masterful!! What a President bent on making another country pay for the attacks!! I wonder though when Lennox will cave and give the VP up and tell everyone of the plan that went down making Assad the scapegoat!!
That lil test Chloe did on Morris was nice!! Got a laugh out of meh!!
And you know the whole Audrey being dead, well I think that was a easy out!! If she is dead, booo on the writers. However if she's somehow found alive, then good job!! I too want to see Jack's fury unleashed on the Chinese!! ;D
Oh and nice infiltration on the drone pilot's local!!
To answer the post that came in before mine!! I don't think he is, I think he's the mole. Also, I just don't think that Ricky can hold up a show like Keifer can!! Someone else needs to be picked to replacre Keifer if he ever leaves the show!
-
Jack Bauer or Mike Doyle
Mike Doyle just doesn't have the same ring to it...
I think Audrey is probably a "guest" of the Chinese gov't. Probably staged her death just to get Jack pissed enough to go back to China on a Search and Destroy mission only to rescue her in the end.
Then they make mad, passionate love then Jack kills her. :P
-
i really hope he's not the mole, he would be a OK jack replacement, although I'd rather see it all end than become 24:Deep space nine. lol
gotta say it was a great episode, i myself would also nuke the Arab nation just to keep my ppl in check and let everyone know what happens when you f*** a stranger in the a**!, anyways i digress.
personally i cannot imagine where this season is going to take us. at first i was put off by how quickly jack is back in action after being tortured for two years, then there was the crazy president/first lady relapse both of which i didn't really care for. but as we've seen, i think their just getting warmed up. after jacks family & the sudden killing off of Audrey Raines(i doubt she's really dead) were certainly in some major shake ups.
-
i have to agree that mike doyle is probably the mole. it would be too convenient for their to be another competent field agent available. i figure they are just setting him up as another nemesis since nina can't pop up anymore.
-
Did we ever see Mike messing with the computers? It doesn't seem like it'd be any sort of 2-minute job to sabotage a terminal like that. And Mike doesn't strike me as the brainy hacker type. He seems like Jack, only slightly more sadistic. Which is why I wonder if he's lined up to be his replacement.
Besides, the Russians had access to CTU computers from the first moment they were shown. I think that was before Mike was introduced.
And yeah, "Doyle" doesn't have the same umph as "Bauer."
-
the only real clues we have been given point to nadia being the mole. her griping about being slowed down and convincing milo to help her really make it look bad for her. but, that seems too simple for this show. maybe her and doyle are in cohoots. that would certainly be unexpected.
-
Also, she was "logged on" with Milo's access code... a major no-no for soon to be obvious reasons. She now has plausible deniability for anything that happens during the times when they shared the code.
-
Who originally flagged her for the heightened security that prevented her from doing work? It's a bit far-fetched, but whoever did that could be working with her. If Nadia knew Milo would give her his higher access priviledges if she was impaired, the access she needed to initiate the breach, she and the person who initiated the security measures could have hatched the plot.
But it seems the theme of this year's season is "not all Muslims are bad." That being the case, I doubt Nadia will end up being the mole.
-
exactly, i really doubt their going to lock us into another Nina. quite frankly i hope they just leave that whole mole story line alone and concentrate on the real story. if anyone its gotta be jacks dad. who had no problem entering ctu that day? jacks dad.
-
But it seems the theme of this year's season is "not all Muslims are bad." That being the case, I doubt Nadia will end up being the mole.
I agree.
As far as the flaging of Nadia, I think it was a DOD (Department of Defense) order passed down through the various agencies. And if it came from the DOD or that eschelon of the gov't, the weasels that tried to assassinate Pres. Wayne Palmer are probably involved.
-
Have you seen my baseball?
I can't believe I'm still watching this crap.
-
Ok, now I get why you posted that reply Matt. When I first saw it last night, I was like huh?? Wow, that totally came out of left field there, but glad Brady didn't get killed. I was totally thinking the poor guy was going to get it!! And I also thought Mike was going to hide the info. Could be a ruse, but maybe he's actually alright??
Ok, the power play by Vice President Noah Daniels!! He is making his move, and I gotta say, I am highly impressed!! As impressed with Karen Hays as well, she truly has the best of this country at heart. Who I don't like is Daniels assistant, I can't stand that smarmy bitch. Why do I have the feeling that she or Daniels have ties to the group that tried to assassinate Palmer?
Colonel Johnson, what was his reasoning for his play on Mike?? Guess a lot of people really don't like him!!
Oh, forgot to mention, the product placement is impressive!! Sprint phone, sprint picture mail, Foxnews running in the background constantly... ;)
-
Frank and Beans!
-
My biggest problem with the episode wasn't with Rain Man, but with the ridiculous deus ex machina of President Palmer going from comatose to coherent in just a matter of minutes.
Unless the episodes start to get a lot better from here on out, I won't be coming back next season.
-

On other soap operas, like Days of Our Lives and All My Children, people come out of comas all the time like that...
-
Good point.
I just wanted an excuse to use the phrase "deus ex machina" in a post.

Good point.
I just wanted an excuse to use the phrase "deus ex machina" in a post.
It is still one of my favorite video games.
Next week should be interesting. Palmer can't so much as flinch or the cabinet is gonna article 26 his ass.
-
I didn't like Palmer being that coherent either. He just doesn't have the spark that his brother had.
Other than that, good episode last night.
:P
-
Palmer can't so much as flinch or the cabinet is gonna article 26 his ass.
LOL!!!! He can't show any signs of weakness, or like you said, they'll article 26 his arse! Then Curly Bill Daniels will be blasting the Middle East back to the stone age!!
-
Great episode last night!
Highlights:
- Even though I saw it coming the amputation of Grendenko's arm was cool.
- Fayed getting the beat down in the bar from the "common folk" was cool.
- Daniels assistant falling on the sword (in more ways than one I suspect ;) )
- Lennox's ace-in-the-hole over Daniels (I fear Lennox isn't long for this world)
- Pres. Palmer "I am done talking" BOOOMMM!
-
Actually the Gredenko bit shocked me and made me rather queasy... but I guess he was wrong in the long run. There was no way both of them making it out of there alive... especially after losing that much blood. I guess they were in too much of a hurry to think of turniquet (sp?)... Now someone's got a one'armed Bernie hanging on the beach. ;)
Surprised by Palmer's change of direction. Cool about Lennox bugging Daniels. And I wonder what is motiviating Ricky Schroeder to cover Milo's tracks?
-

Maybe he still suspects Nadia, so he could be just trying to draw her into making a mistake if she thinks he's "on her side"
-
Wow, just finished watching the current episode!! Damn, gotta say one great episode!! I don't agree with other boards in calling this episode slow in the beginning. I think the drama up front was very well done!! Palmer vs Daniels and Lennox as the wild card!! Lennox played his hand to perfection!! Too bad it didn't work, and Palmer went ahead with the strike!! Wow, way to assert your authorita!!
I did not see Fayed cutting off his arm!! I thought somehow they had some sort of back up plan where they had a machine that could disrupt the transmission or something!! Wow to pull a Walrus Man, pretty hardcore!! And jaybird, yes, that beatdown was nice!! I would hae loved to seen it last a bit longer, a bit more bloody would be just right!!
And I dislike Daniel's assistant even more, I hope she gets what's coming to her!!
-

I guess the acknoledgement that you two are pathetic trolls and according to the standards here, you should hae been suspeneded long ago!! I mean some of the complaints that you guys have of the scum are that their mods don't do a thing to trolls, well I see two here, have made comment after comment to goad me, and I see nothing from the mods!! Hell a mod himself tries to call me out!! I have done nothing since the time I've been here but try to contribute. And you gotta be honet, I've barely been here at all!
Thing is, they like you two, so even if you are trolling looking for confrontation, they'll look the other cheek!! I wonder which is worse, mods that don't get to all the boards and thus let trolls loose, or mods that turn the other cheek??
And I gotta say, it's not all the mods here. There are a lot of good ones, DSJ, Jesse James, and Jeff, whom I respect a whole lot! They do a good job and are fair and down the middle!! Which is what a good mod is supposed to be!! If you can't let your emotions aside when it comes to dealing with people, then step down!

*Elaine's apartment. Jake is there and Elaine comes in.*
Elaine: Hello.... hello, oh...
Jake: Well, you notice anything?
Elaine: You have cleaned out the whole apartment and you're making dinner. Oh, you are a perfect, you are a perfect man.
*Jake feels Elaine's coat material.*
Jake: Ooh...
Elaine: Did anyone call?
Jake: I got a few messages, I wrote them down.
Elaine: Where are they?
Jake: Lets see, they are...here they are.
Elaine: Thank you. Heh, I'll call you back.Ooh, Myra had the baby! Oh, my God that's wonderful! Who called?
Jake: She did.
Elaine: She did? Oh, that's so great!
Jake: Where do you keep the corkscrew?
Elaine: In the drawer on the right. Hmm...
Jake: What?
Elaine: Oh it's nothing.
Jake: What is it?
Elaine: It's nothing.
Jake: Tell me.
Elaine: Well, I was just curious why you didn't use an exclamation point?
Jake: What are you talking about?
Elaine: See, right here you wrote "Myra had the baby", but you didn't use an exclamation point.
Jake: So?
Elaine: So, it's nothing. Forget it, forget it, I just find it curious.
Jake: What's so curious about it?
Elaine: Well, I mean if one of your close friends had a baby and I left you a message about it, I would use an exclamation point.
Jake: Well, maybe I don't use my exclamation points as haphazardly as you do.
Elaine: You don't think that someone having a baby warrants an exclamation point.
Jake: Hey, I just chalked down the message. I didn't know I was required to capture the mood of each caller.
Elaine: I just thought you would be a little more excited about a friend of mine having a baby.
Jake: Ok, I'm excited. I just don't happen to like exclamation points.
Elaine: Well, you know Jake, you should learn to use them. Like the way I'm talking right now, I would put an exclamation points at the end of all these sentences! On this one! And on that one!
Jake: Well, you can put one on this one: I'm leaving!

Sure, as long as you promise never to refer to yourself as "moi," ever again. 'Cause the first thing that sprang to mind when I read that was "well, that's what Miss Piggy calls herself," and you don't want people comparing you to Miss Piggy, do you?

I may be the noob around here but not to forums. Isn't it a mods job to keep the thread's on point? I fail to see what this reply has to do with 24. LJ I think your personality is threatening to some. That is not a dig. It speaks more to the individual(s) who feels threatened. But that is not 24-related so...
Day 6 is not favorite season by any means and I will have to watch the whole thing again after to see if I missed something. It truly lacks the great characters of last season. Where's Jack and Chloe?!?! Two of the best actors on the show are virtually nonexistent to this point with a few minor exceptions. Less Milo and Nadia and more Jack please. I'll even take more little Ricky because he has something big in store for us.
-
I'm sorry to have upset you sntee25.
My point must be lost to your higher logic.
Sorry.
24. Jack Bauer. Day 6.
Carry on.

1. Kevin's not a moderator. He's a Noderator. Big difference.
2. You're right about Bertha: I can feel my brain cells dying off one-by-one each time I read one of her vapid, exclamation-point-riddled replies, and that is very threatening to me, most-assuredly.
3. The further this thread is taken off-topic, the better--it just makes it that more-interesting than the topic itself.
On that note, I fell asleep during the middle of the last episode. I thought this was supposed to be "the" premier action show in all of television, and I tuned in to see Jack Bauer kicking asses all over the place. Instead, I get a bunch of boring political and relationship garbage.
Where's Jack?
Don't get me wrong--I'll still be tuning in for the rest of the season. As I discovered the other night, it's quite the sedative.
-
At least moderators on this board get the job because they can do it, not because they have the most nonsensical posts on a given board. You know, they way a certain Rebel laden forum might do it.
On topic; As I sit here right now I actually can't tell you much about what happened on Monday's episode except the Pres launched his nuke even after fighting off the VP for his job.
The episode was that boring to me. However, the season in general has been good even with the weaker episodes. I still can't figure out the angle on Ricky's character other than I think FOX is setting up a spin-off series. Unless they pulled the plug on their multi-year contract with Kiefer and they need a replacement for Jack next season.
Like all the seasons so far, I really have no idea what they're going to do next. There are so many plot twists and threads going on that they can keep you guessing right till the end of the 24th episode. And that is good TV no matter how boring an episode here or there might be.
On a side note, the only other show that keeps me on the edge of my seat week to week is Prison Break. As long as 24 can keep doing that I'll be watching.
E... (who chose not to use an exclamation point in this post but hold no ill will for those that do use them.)

I've been a big fan of 24 since Season four but it's tough to sit through an hour of 24 now after watching Prison Break right before. I never imagined that show would last past the first season, but I'm so hooked on that show now especially after Monday's season finale. I've been getting bored with 24 and the fact that Jack's screentime is fading out doesn't help either.
-
The episode was that boring to me.
See iI'm still at a loss as to why people think this episode was boring! Since I did miss season's 2 and 3, which supposedly this same scenario occrured, I'm not used to it! But I think even if I had seen it I would have still enjoyed last night's episode!! I mean I loved it, I love politics, and just loved the plays being made by everyone to keep their power!! Or in Lennox's case, for the betterment of the US. Guess that backfired huh? :o
Action for the sake of action, meh!! Of course last nights wasn't that action packed per say, but damn if that arm on the floor wasn't a bit of a shocker! ;)
-
I'll even take more little Ricky because he has something big in store for us.
Right on. He's a mole.
Not that I care anymore. I've missed the last two episodes because of important events - the weather was nice.
And with that, I'm done with this season.
I need to reinstate my boycott of Fox....for the premature killing of television's smartest (and funniest) sitcom in the history of the universe.
And no, it's not Stacked.
-
I'm still into this season, not my favorite by any means, but I love the VP Daniels scenes. If Jack's not in a scene, I'm pulling for a Daniels scene ...in my opinion his scenes are some of the best. Great actor, entertaining character. Also I'd like to see Buchanan get pissed about something, love that character too.
The fact that the Russian had his arm cut off last week was awesome... made me a bit queezy, and I loved seeing Fayed get the hell beaten out of him at the bar.
Looking forward to next week... I want to see a big gun fight or something soon, that lasts for a good 5-10 minutes.
How many hours are left... eight I believe? We need some serious action/twists in the next few hours to make up for a few slow episodes.
:P
-
We need some serious action/twists in the next few hours to make up for a few slow episodes.
Tonight's episode was the best of the season.
1. Prez. Palmer swinging those balls of his
2. The bait and switch with Fayed and the undercover CTU agents
3. Jack's ass kickin', neck snapin' and pulling a Indiana Jones on the garbage truck.
4. The John McClane-esque hanging of Fayed ala Die Hard
5. The return of horse face Audrey Raines and the Chinese
8)
-
That was a kick-arse episode... made me think WTF??? is this the final episode?? And the Audrey being alive that was discussed here was revealed.
4. The John McClane-esque hanging of Fayed ala Die Hard
That's about right! Fayed must've had some adrenaline pumping after being interrogated by Jack and then fighting for his life... That nice heavy wrench to Fayed's hand/wrist made me cringe.
-
I loved that episode.
Spoiler may apply
When the van with Jack was ambushed and they got Fayed out I literally yelled at the TV "I hate this f'n show!" because they do that ALL the time with the bad guys being one step ahead. After the truck went around the corner and Jack got up and we found out it was a plant I yelled "I love this show!!"
I'm quite positive my neighbor thinks I'm crazy. I don't care.
I loved the ending where Jack went all psycho on the terrorists, especially Fayed. I'm guessing now the last 7 hours or so are going to be Jack going after the Chinese for the last 2 years of torture? Interesting turn of events.
E...
-
Loved the episode tonight. Back to the action I'm looking for.
I'm wondering if Audrey was the price President Palmer had to pay to get Jack out. Only thing besides Kim that would make Jack do something.
-
My problem with the Chinese supposedly killing Audrey, the fact that they still have her, and Palmer in the next ep saying to Jack he can't afford an international incident with the Chinese is that it already is an international incident. It's not like Audrey is an ordinary citizen. She worked for her dad who was Sec of Defense. IIRC, her daddy is still alive but no where to be found in all this. Not unless the gov't wrote her off as going rogue when she left to find Jack. I guess we'll find out next week how the writers work this out...
-
Audrey can't be "the price." Audrey "died" long enough ago for it to be public knowledge (his sister-in-law was the one who told Jack, no?), and long enough for autopsy photos to make it back to the USA. Weren't there newspaper clippings as well? The terrorist activity had only been going on a short time when the show started.

I think Chloe said it was 2 months before the start of this day.
-
Ok, last night's episode was FREAKING AWESOME. Best episode this season, and one of the best any any season I think. It did so much for Day 6. Just what 24 is known for... I didn't see the turn of events coming at all.
Thank you Jack Bauer for making my week.
:P
-
I gotta agree, last night's episode was fantastic!! Wowey wow wow.
The whole bluff by the President was fantastic. I just gained a whole new respect for the man, especially his willingness to sacrifice himself till the situation is resolved! I mean he knows is Daniel's in charge, all hell will break loose!!
efranks, I was like no ******* way when their truck got hit, but when Jack and Doyle were downed, I knew something was up! What a masterful plan by CTU, too bad the General tipped them off, hopefully he gets what's coming to him!!
Jack is a one man killing machine, no backup, no hopes of backup, but he knew what had to be done!! Taking out the guards one napped neck at a time, and then one bullet at a time, leaving him one on one with the mastermind!! That hit with the wrench definitely made me flinch, ouch!
And finally, Audrey Raines is back, and the final season takes a whole new direction, almost like a new season!! I can't wait for Jack to unleash hell on the Chinese!!
On a side note, what's up with Milo, me thinks he is a controlling person, and will end up hitting Nadia! Oh and speaking of Naida, way to go on catching the General's warning, too bad it didn't help the agents!
-
What do you think the Chinese want Jack to do?
-
In the preview, they want some component....I can only guess it's some part of the two suitcase nukes.
I do have to give the show some credit...they gave Jack about 15 seconds to relax...the most in just about any season, except for season 1 where he ate something.
-
Another WOW episode! Kind of see-sawish.
-Jack's gone rogue again. I like that he told Doyle that he had a hard decision to kill his friend (Curtis) earlier in the day because C got in the way of Jack's job and would hesitate to do it to him.
-Palmer collapsing during the address was predictable, especially since VP Daniels was just going to serve his resignation notice.
Well, there's 7 more episodes left, I wonder what else is going to happen with rescuing Audrey... maybe Jack goes after Papa Bauer, too?
-
AWESOME. I really didn't think that Palmer would have another "episode" again, but he did. The only cheesy thing was that it was on live TV.
Bauer.... wow. Chloe... wow.
Can't wait for next week. Kick ass.
24 is BACK.
:P
-
I thought this week's episode was pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing Jack get out of CTU soon and going after Cheng Zhi... and I'm waiting for Jack's dad to emerge back into this season.
VP Daniels is really turning into one hell of a character on the show, I'm glad he's in the spotlight right now. His scenes are just awesome... Powers Booth has such a commanding presence on the screen... I'm going to have to watch Tombstone again soon.
:P
-
Yep, good episode.
Can't believe Heller told Jack to stay away from Audrey... she isn't 15. Chloe is all heartbroke now that Morris told her it was over. :'( Hopefully Morris sticks around. I like his character.
I'm kind of shocked that there hasn't been any mention of ex-Pres. Logan's death/murder by the media, VP Daniels, Pres. Palmer... whoever. Yes, there is terrorist acts going on, but the death of a president is big news!!
I also think that Jack's dad will have to come back around... I mean he's a bad guy, killed his own son, betrayed Jack and was in on killing all Jack's friends. His time is coming due!!
-
Poor Milo, we hardly knew ye
-
Yeah, I'll bet Buchannan won't be so pissed that his wife fired him now.
-
Hmmm.. Bill lets Fayed loose, and is "conveniently" fired during the siege on CTU. Bill Buchanan's the mole!!!
;D
-
Lamest ending ever!!
Everything was good until Jack hit Sec. Heller's place...that just totally brought everything way down.. Audrey is a veggiee...big deal. It kinda looked like Jack was going to jump over the cliff - and I'm kinda wishing he did after the piss poor way they ended this series.
One thing I really liked though was the split screen with Jack & his father - It kinda looked like they felt each other's presense as in Jedi.
It's pretty obvious that the Chineese will be back for the next day though.
-
So I'm watching this show for the first time this season. . .
. . .and thus My Great 24 Experiment has come to an end.
Jack may (or may not) be returning next January, but I don't think I will. I can probably find better, more productive things to do with my Monday nights. . .
. . .like drinking.
-
You have more willpower than myself. I only lasted five episodes before I gave up on Jack.
I thought I read somewhere that he signed on for a couple more seasons - or was that just the show in general?
-
He did sign for at least two more "days" and they said that they are going to reinvent the show....somehow
-
Hopefully, they re-invent it. The last 24 hours I'd like back... it was the weakest season so far. And to think I wasn't going to watch until they brought Alexander Siddig into it.
The good things i can thing of were a cool first 4 hours (the bomb going off in some suburb of LA) and Jack kicking the crap out of Fayed.
Other than that, the plot was weak. I think they had too much going on in one day to keep track of.
My complaints:
-Why make Graehm a wuss-boy? They could have had him be the main baddy and then introduce Philip later as the "puppet-master".
-Too many crispy faces in the last 2 hours (Doyle and Cheng).
-Nadia's weird love triangle.
-Killing Curtis to save Dr. Bashir, only to kill Siddig's off a few hours later >:(
-No mention of ex-Pres. Logan's death in the media or by another character.
-Audrey. (and why is Sec Heller still in office... usually these positions get changed, especially when it's a different party in power).
-CTU's vulnerability
Oh well. there's more, but I'm sure you all know by watching. At least we have until January until the next "day" starts... whether the fans'll be there is another story.
-
I personally liked the way this season ended... I didn't expect to see Buchanan live, so that was a nice surprise to see someone survive for once...
As for the confrontation between Jack and Heller, I loved it. I thought the tension was fantastic, and really sometimes words can be more powerful than anything else. So, to me a good ending to what was a season that wasn't the best by any means - but to be honest, I think it would have been very hard to surpass what happened in the past few seasons... expectations were just really high.
Also, I liked how it ended without another tramatic ending in terms of an impending crisis... I think it kept it more "real" without having it end with another lead on to next season... gives them some room for a new plot for next season I would think... but somewhere down the line ( Season 7 or 8 ) I think we'll see a big run in with the Chinese.
:P
-
You have more willpower than myself. I only lasted five epsidodes before I gave up on Jack.
Yeah, well, being that this was the first season I've ever watched, I figured I'd give it a chance and see it through to it's conclusion. Besides, it could have gotten better. (It didn't, but it could have.)
My biggest gripe (and one of the same problems I have with the prequels) was probably based on how connected everybody seemed to be--especially regarding Jack and his brother and his dad. Or with the presidents--what are the chances of two presidents of the United States coming from the same family? No way the American people would go for that in this day and age. :-X Just didn't seem very realistic to me.
Anyway, there's some talk of them overhauling the show next year, and I've read people speculating (hoping?) that means they're gonna do away with many of the non-Jack subplots around the White House and CTU, to focus more on Jack just kicking ass--a smaller, more-personal story. I could probably go for that. But if it's anything like this year. . . feh.
-
i would really like just one season (day) of 24 where jack is working for ctu (or cia or whatever) and does not need to go rogue and does not have someone interferring all the time. that has been my biggest gripe since season one. can jack not get a promotion to "division" or a 00 number or whatever so that no one will tell him "no" or arrest him during a crisis?
-
I forget, but wasn't he once Director at CTU... Season 2 or 3??
The last season of 24 should be Jack director at CTU, glancing at the clock, bored off his ass because there's nothing going on... for 24 hours! The only crisis is what salad dressing he should have Chloe get for him at Applebee's, and the fact that Kim's pregnant and how he wants to be a good grandfather.
-
I agree 100% that I didn't like there being two presidents from the same family, but then again, we're on our second president already from the Bush family, and there's a chance it will happen with the Clintons. So it's not unplausible.
I would totally love to see season 7 be more centered around Jack and not so much with the White House. Maybe bring back Michael Novick into the picture somehow in Los Angeles. I also would love to see Chase from Season 3 return in some capacity.
You guys who saw season 5, remember when Jack screwed over the French secret agent over the "wet list" - they seemed to leave that open to where that guy could reappear in some way to be a thorn in Jack's side.
I say they bring back this chick in a major role - Mandy - the only terrorist so far to live in several seasons - she appeared in Seasons 1, 2 and 4.

Professor Travis would like to point out that unplausible should be replaced with implausible.
-
And also, John Adams and John Quincy Adams: the trend that started it all.
-
Of course, there was also Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson, his son; and perhaps the most famous presidential family of all--the Roosevelts--from which two of our best presidents came: Teddy and his little boy, Frank.

The United States will have a female president next year -- on the Fox TV series "24."
Tony Award-winning actress Cherry Jones will play President Allison Taylor when the show about the exploits of counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) returns in January for its seventh season, the network announced Sunday.
Jones' term will coincide with Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential bid, but Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Liguori said fiction and real-world politics will not intersect.
"It's a dramatic decision. ... The president is a very important piece of '24," Liguori told The Associated Press. "We've had a broad array of presidents on the show; why not a female president?"
The series has been an Oval Office groundbreaker before, with Dennis Haysbert playing President Palmer, the nation's first black president.
Asked whether Fox would scrutinize scripts for potential election-year political content, Liguori said that, as with any show, "24" will be looked at "from a dramaturgical perspective, not a political perspective."
Series co-creators Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran and fellow executive producer Howard Gordon have always kept real-life politics from the show, he said.
"'24' took place in an election year in the past," Liguori said. "How you see Joel, Bob and Howard articulate drama is telling on how they deal with politics. The two are separated."
In a February article in The New Yorker magazine, Surnow described himself as a rare conservative in Hollywood. But show producers say they hold a variety of political viewpoints and deny "24" takes a solely conservative approach, the magazine reported.
Jones, winner of best-actress Tony Awards for "The Heiress" and "Doubt," has appeared in films including "Ocean's Twelve" and "The Perfect Storm" and has guest-starred on TV shows including the White House drama "The West Wing."
Liguori and newly appointed Fox programming chief Kevin Reilly appeared Sunday at the summer meeting of the Television Critics Association to discuss the upcoming TV season on Fox, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
Liguori said he wouldn't call the past season "disappointing," when asked about the fact that "24" failed to gain a best drama series Emmy nomination last week after winning the award in 2006.
He said he admires the "creative courage" of the producers as the show "re-sets the table each season" with a new story. "It's fun to see them spit-ball ideas," Liguori added.

I know at least Chewie is with me in taking great comfort that Hillary will never be President. You can take that to to bank.

I find much greater comfort in knowing that our next president, whoever it may be, will be worlds better than the ****head currently occupying that office.
-
I dunno. I could see BushCo declaring the presence of WMD in Iran, whipping the nation into a terrified, jingoist frenzy, and then telling the Repugs they've got to nominate Cheney so as not to change horse in mid-gallop or whatever, and the American public buying it...again.
Cheney/Rumsfield '08, anyone?

Oh Christ, here we go.

This is obviously a threat against our future Madam President. I've alerted Homeland Security and the Secret Service to your post.
And next time don't start political ****. You know better.
-
My best friend is a secret service agent and detailed Mrs. Clinton a couple months ago in DC... I'd love to go into his thoughts about her with what he's seen and heard, but I know this isn't the place for it. Plus I don't want to compromise national security. 8)
Anyways, I'm looking forward to next season of 24. I hope that it's a fresh plot line this year, the way last season ended it seemed to leave things open for a new start. I'm wondering how they'll portray a female president, a lot of people seem to have drawn a line in the sand on where they stand on that issue (or at least on certain women if they were elected). I have a feeling that however this season (7) is accepted by viewers will determine if they go past season 8 or not.
I'm hoping to see Michael Novik back in the mix in some sort of capacity -
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/34/Mike_Novick.jpg/250px-Mike_Novick.jpg)
For some reason that crusty old white man is my second favorite character on the show.
Also they should try and bring back Buchanan too, I'm guessing they will -

I'd love to go into his thoughts about her with what he's seen and heard, but I know this isn't the place for it.
I'm sure you could find a secret service agent with 'interesting' things to say about every detail from the service's inception until now.
-
And next time don't start political ****. You know better.
Yeah right. Actually the producers of "24" started the political ****. You can't deny that this latest stunt is just a giant Hillary campaign ad. This is the only purpose for their move - an attempt to make a female in the Oval Office normal. Not that Bill didn't already have his share of females in the Oval Office. Heheheh.
:)

The producers of 24 did not start political **** at Jedidefender.com. >:(

Of course, there was also Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson, his son; and perhaps the most famous presidential family of all--the Roosevelts--from which two of our best presidents came: Teddy and his little boy, Frank.
I hope you are joking...Andrew Johnson was dead before LBJ was born and Teddy and FDR were only distant cousins. FDR did marry Teddy's niece (who was also his distant cousin).
-
I hope you are joking...
No, I'm very, very serious about all this.
Sorry, but I don't buy into the campaign of misinformation that's been perpetrated on the unsuspecting American public for the last couple of hundred years. American people always joke about the incestuous nature of the British royal family, but if they only knew how much worse it was in their own country, surely they would revolt. So that's why The Powers That Be have gone to such great length over the years to keep things under wraps.
For example, FDR was, without a doubt, TR's bastard son from an out-of-wedlock relationship he had maintained with a Boston prostitute. If news of this had gotten out, surely it would have caused irreparable harm to TR's burgeoning career in the New York state legislature, so it was decided that the bastard child Franklin would be sent to live with TR's distant relatives upstate.
Years later, as FDR was developing quite the political career of his own, his lineage and relationship to Theodore, whose recent death some historians believe Franklin may have had a hand in, started to come into question. To stifle this, FDR's people came up with a plan: Poliomyelitis, better known as polio. FDR "mysteriously" contracted the disease while vacationing in Canada. And their ruse was successful on two fronts. Not only were all of the "FDR is the bastard child of TR" rumors effectively and immediately quashed, as surely this crippled, decrepit man could not have come from the loins of such an active and vivacious man as TR had been, but FDR and his people used his "disease" to play on the sympathies of the American voters, who voted him into office just a decade later. And FDR kept up the polio act, whenever in the public eye, up until his death, but as White House insiders would tell you (if they were still alive), in secret, FDR was, just like his real father, quite the sportsman, enjoying basketball and bowling at nearly every opportunity.
The Andrew Johnson/Lyndon Johnson connection (or "Johnson & Johnson," as it's come to be known in historian circles) is a much-less sordid tale than that of the Roosevelts, but no less interesting. Yes, it's true that Andrew Johnson died over thirty years before Lyndon Johnson was born. That's common knowledge. Irrefutable. What most people don't know (and what most historians won't tell you) is that Andrew Johnson was indeed the biological father of Lyndon. How can that be possible, you ask? Simple. After Andrew Johnson died in 1875, his body was sent to a local mortuary, where a young mortician on an apprenticeship was getting his first crack at a "real live body." Unobserved by his mentor, and slightly intoxicated and delusional from the moonshine he had been making in the funeral home's bathtub, the young apprentice decided he would try out a few of his radical new "embalming techniques," one of which included obtaining a sperm sample from the deceased.
The rest of the story is far too complicated and boring to go into great detail on here, but, rest assured, that little did the budding apprentice know at the time that his bizarre experiments that night would later lead to what is now considered to be the first, albeit unofficial and undocumented, successful case of artificial insemination in humans.
Now, how that little seed eventually grew up to be president--in much the same way his father did--well, that's a story that's best left for another time. However, with Lady Bird Johnson's recent passing, don't be too surprised to see the bodies of both former presidents exhumed in the near future for extensive DNA sampling, to finally set this nearly-unbelievable tale straight.
By the way, don't look for any of this stuff in the history books, 'cause it's not there. But maybe one day, the truth will come out, to vindicate the true historians, and to shut the naysayers up for good.
-
I know at least Chewie is with me in taking great comfort that Hillary will never be President. You can take that to to bank.

Agreed. I'd take Hillary any day over the inept, illegal man holding office currently.
-
Well, I don't want another Bush OR Clinton in the White House anytime soon. I want a fresh candidate... and while every part of my soul bleeds conservatism, I'm not a Clinton basher. Bush hasn't handled the immigration thing like I would like to see which has been my biggest problem with him. But the man is still the commander in chief for over another year and had a good majority in the last election; like it or not. That's how it is. And don't overlook the fact that Congress actually has a much lower approval rating than President Bush does.
Who knows, the people at 24 might take the stance that Dressel stated in that they are pushing for a female president and have her be a very strong commander in chief, OR they could go the exact opposite direction with it and portray her as inept in dealing with terrorism, which is the defining issue on the show. How they play this out could be one of the most controversial moves that they've made, and it could be politically motivated... but I think it's par of their plan to get their ratings back up.
And oh yeah, thanks for the history lesson Matt. What blog did you pull that from? 8)
:P
-
I can't believe this is happening. :-X
Kevin

After last season, having the Presidency or the White house involved at all next season doesn't entice me to watch with as much enthusiasm as I might have had without it.

You can bet your ass that Murdoch and FOX aren't going to allow anything that would overtly help out Hillary Clinton.

Rob - why do you ask member(s) to stop with the political postings and then 'bait' people with posts like that?

Jayson makes a good point about the White House... I'm getting a little burnt out on all the presidential involvement. Would be nice to see a season without that element.

Enough with the Oval Office... it's become a soap opera! Presidental assassinations or attempts, the Lisa/Daniels affair, etc.
I hope like hell that CTU is one fortified MoFo, too. I'm tired of the usual mole/infiltration of the building over and over again. Next year ninjas will be crawling out of the toilets to kidnap/kill Chloe.
-
What I think the series needs is a new all out b!tch like Nina Myers again.
Also, do you guys remember in Season 5 when Jack screws over the French German intelligence agent (Theo Stoller) by destroying the "wet list" that he promised him for turning over that terrorist chick (Collete Stinger)?
Maybe we'll see that come back to bite Jack this season, and hopefully see Collette again -
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c9/Collette.jpg)

Agreed. I'd take Hillary any day over the inept, illegal man holding office currently.
EDIT: I decided to let that go, I'm in a good mood.
Chewie brings up a good point though, and one I should have come up with myself...being that 24 is on Fox, it could be that the US is going to be ravaged by terrorists on the show and Lady MacBeth won't be able to respond effectively or won't have the will. I guess we'll have to wait and see which it is, because my initial reaction, as it should be for most things that come out of the majority of the media or Hollywood, was that they were promoting Shrill Hill.
I'll definitely be paying close attention to see which it is.

Meh, I for one am always willing to preside over said vomit, it spices things up a little here or there, we don't have the same e-playgrounds we used to have at RS and briefly GH. Those were the days...

If it were my house, I'd allow it too - but it's not.

I think people are going too far with this female President thing...we have to have two African American Presidents first because of the Palmer brothers. It means that Obama is going to win in '08...I wonder if he has a younger brother... ;)
-
First a woman president and now this? (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i35dfa8e5f7b68d261cee24ae98a6f0a9)
Doesn't bother me any, the show has sucked ass ever since Season 2.

Hmmm. Well, just a reminder that anybody that's a name can die off relatively quick in the show. RIP, Kumar. Hope there's a White Castle in heaven for ya.

HEAVY SPOILER CONTENT: Season 7 Trailer (http://www.cincity2000.com/content/index.php?option=com_seyret&task=videodirectlink&id=27)
Someone's got a grudge.

I thought so, too. It just seemed like someone's amateur video (not that kind of amateur video) playing 24.
From what I gathered from the 24 Myspace site, the spoiler there (WTF?) kind of turned me away from Season 7 pretty good. They will need a nice explaination other than 'we were bored and can't think of anything new.'

That was just as entertaining as last season, if not moreso.

Last season was definitely not the best of the first 6. If it had been my first season getting into it, I would have thought the whole thing was overrated.
-
Sounds like this season is delayed until 2009.
-
Sounds like this season is delayed until 2009.
Yup...It was either that or they were going to have 2 mini seasons both dealing with a different day. I beleive they wanted to try and get the first part out this fall, but they scrapped the plan and will just be back with a regular season next January.
Better be a damn good day for making us wait this long. >:(

I got bored yesterday and cracked open Day 6 on DVD. It's amazing that there's so much stuff that I forgot about during that season. Very strange not having commercials though. I guess I'm going to go backwards - Day 6 to Day 1. Joy..
-
Even though Day 6 wasn't all that great, it's good to have Jack Bauer back and kicking ass. I enjoyed
2 24: Redemption. Sets up season 7 nicely and it got away from the terrorists-nuclear-LA-CTU having a mole-presidential drama from last season. I'm sure we'll have some of that stuff this season, but at least Jack is out of LA and CTU and dealing with something new. I'm not sure how they're going to explain Tony being alive, but I hope to all hell it isn't something lame like clones or an evil twin brother.
Looking forward to January. Even at it's worst, 24 is still better than most of the **** on TV nowadays.
-
it's good to have Jack Bauer back and kicking ass.
Agreed. It has been far too long. Not the greatest episode(s) but it sets up for day 7 pretty good. Glad they let the kids through the gate. They really went to town on commercials for the second hour which is typical of 24 as are the cliff hangers. Good watch though.
-
It was good to see Jack Bauer on the small screen again. Can't have a day in the life of Bauer without a torture scene that makes you go, eeeeeeeeew.
-
The composer's been watching Torchwood.

New Season starts tonight! Who else is excited?
-
New Season starts tonight! Who else is excited?
I am in a way - but not 2 hours each for Sunday & Monday night in a way. Seems like a bit overkill IMO to start a season even though we got burned last year. I've got my trusty Video Cassette Recorder ready for action though! ;D
-
I vowed to stay away after the lackluster Day 6 and the killing of Dr. Bashir, but I got sucked back in to see why Almeda was still alive and what he was doing being a baddie. I thought it was explained well (if he truly is a baddie).
-
I caught it tonight as well. And so far I like were it's going. Kind of a Die Hard 2 rip off with the whole plane deal but it was handled well. I love how Jack told off the senate committee and how he'll still smarter than all the FBI being able to find sources and the sniper in about 20 min. They sure didn't waste time introducing the mole plot device again.
-
You can't have 24 without a mole. Come on. :-\
I liked tonight's episode well enough. I even liked the previous season so I ws really happy to have 24 back on the air. The two night, 4 hours of show has as much to do with the Jan-May run than anything else. It's the side effect of getting all 24 hours in a row without repeats or huge winter breaks. I'll take it.
The alternative is what Lost is dong with, what, 16 episode seasons vs 22 (or 24 in the case of, well, 24)? I'd rather have the full load than a Jan-May uninterrupted AND shortened season.

I thought it was funny in the promo for Monday that they were saying "Don't miss the first big surprise of the season"... I kinda think Tony being back from the dead counts as a big surprise. ::)
-
How could it be a surprise when we knew it from the previews?
I like how the domestic terror plot is tied in with the Africa Genocide. Hopefully they'll tell us how the Colonel survived the mine detonation from Redemption. Although he was probably the furthest away when it blew.
-
I didn't watch the previews. ;)
-
They showed Tony Almeida in the add for the new season towards the end of Redemption. You missed that too?
-
I DVR everything, and skip the commercials.
-
Fair enough....don't think that's what they meant by a big surprise though...I'll get to see in about an hour. :D
-
They showed Tony Almeida in the add for the new season towards the end of Redemption. You missed that too?
Not only that...they played a pretty similar preview over in the UK last year before this season was supposed to start before it was pushed back due to the writers strike. On the Redemption DVD, they had the first 20 minutes or so of the first episode.

I personally don't care much for this season and they've pretty much taken the show as far as it can go IMO, so we'll see.

They're ignoring a third possibility... Jack gets arrested and put away for torture. That seems more true to the series without ending in Jack's death.
It's been a slow start. It's a shame they didn't spend any time getting you invested in the passengers of the crashed planes last night like they did with the test planes in the premier... would have made a better impact.
And if terrorists took partial control of the flight control system, I'm pretty sure they'd send out a warning to pilots that something was wrong, and to look out for stray aircraft. That whole plot seemed pretty cheap. I'm certain there's codes for security breaches.

I think a similar article said that he has one more season left on his contract and he didn't know if he wanted to do more. Also, the movie angle was dangled in front of him, so he probably won't get killed.
-
Also, the movie angle was dangled in front of him, so he probably won't get killed.
Or he could pull a Tony Almeada...again.
-
Well, Jack Bauer had some great lines tonight.
in response to the President asking where Jack's loyalties lie...
With all due respect Madame President, ask around.
and in response to why following rules is what makes the FBI better than the terrorists
Not Today.
Both of those lines made me laugh out loud. Sure the show is ridiculous but I still love it.
-
Great episode. I still don't like that there are Secret Service bad guys, but I still love the show.
-
This was a pretty good episode - and as mentioned, Jack had some pretty good lines. Still not the same without CTU (and where the hell was Cloe)? Still can't believe how "hardcore" the FBI chick is getting.
I have a feeling the head of the FBI or the geeky computer guy is one of the moles.
-
I liked this one as well and the ending was great. Jack's not pulling any punches even when speaking to POTUS. Agent Red is getting a bit badass, especially after the mom/baby scene.
Can we get Janeane Garofalo off the show though? She is really bad.
-
You know she's the mole, right?
;)

It's like she's trying to play Chloe without the personality or good looks...

God I hope so.

Yeah, I was excited to see Morris and Aaron on the screen! Actually, Chloe and Janis could tagteam on that FBI mole guy!
-
Thought I'd bump this back up as the past few weeks have been pretty damn good.
Hoping that Tony doesn't get himself killed now that he's been captured... wonder what's up with Jack, if he's really contaminated or not.
This season really has been a breath of fresh air for the series after the letdown of Season 6. It has the Seasons 1-3 feel to it... we just need a Nina Myers reference and it's just like the old days again. :)
-
This "day" has been okay, but I'm just not really as into this season as I used to be with this show....and where the hell is Chloe?
-
She's in holding. ;D
Next week looks to be pretty thrilling, if relatively Jackless.
-
24 is still my favorite show. However, there have been several "un-Jack" like moments in this season. For example, Jack would have never given that computer chip that he dug out of Dubaque (sp?) to some random cop/agent to take back to FBI. He also never would have accepted the Senator's offer to help with the Washington DC police so easily. There's one other non-Jack moment in the last few episodes that slipping my mind as well. However, none of those have hampered my enjoyment. I still think this season has some of the best one-liners of the all the seasons.
-
There's one other non-Jack moment in the last few episodes that slipping my mind as well.
Probably saving that Port Authority guy's ass when he normally would have used the element of surprise to take out the baddies.
I forget who was talking to Jack about losing his wife and Kim a few episodes back and how that affected him (maybe Walker?), but what about losing his brother and father and finding out that they were baddies? That would be upsetting, too.
-
One thing that really bugged the crap out of me this past week - there were 10 badies at the port. They popped one to save the Trip (from Star Trek) and Tony got bent out of shaped for Jack ruining the element of surprise. However, it seemed pretty obvious that the badies would have sent a guy or two to check on the executioner and Tony and Jack would have been able to ambush them, and then, when those guys didn't return, the head badie would have had to split up his team to get the goods on the road and deal with the problem. Advantage, Tony and Jack.
-
Who's to say that the security guard didn't get one over on the executioner? Why did the baddies automatically assume that there were some 'heroes' floating around?
-
I don't recall the executioner's gun having a silencer. No bang = somebody else shot.
-
Potential Spoilers....
Damn you Tony.
-
Hell of a twist, though. Thought the bare hand was a bit excessive.
So Jack's daughter went straight to the stem cell extractor, right?
-
Something about Tony didn't sit quite right with me after it was revealed that he was a "double agent" and after last night twist I guess my feelings were warranted.
-
I'm curoius about the whole Tony thing though. I don't think he's working for Starkwood. I think he will either:
A- Sell the bio-weapon to the highest bidder.
B- Try to take out DC with it because he hates the Federal Government.
-
Sad to see Larry Moss buy it, but I'm thinking it'll open the door for Renee to jump into Jack's bed. I also think that once Jack finds out about Tony's betrayal, he's going to want to be healthy enough to go after him....
Hmm, now that I think about it, when Renee was talking to Larry about Kim, Tony was surprised to hear about Kim. Hopefully, Tony doesn't go after Kim; she's had a messed up life as it is.
-
24 may have jumped the shark. My wife and I discussed not watching it anymore.
-
It's tough... this season has had some of the most thrilling early shows I've ever watched. Heart-in-your-throat for 30 minutes type stuff. But it seems to have ground to a halt the past few weeks... mostly I think it's Jack being unavailable.
Tony has to be working for somebody other than Starkwood. He wouldn't have blown up the bio-weapons there, effectively neutering them, if he was trying to help them achieve their goals. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a triple-agent... using the canister to get to the higher-ups of another conspiracy. Killing Moss would be extreme, but he might be willing to take on some collateral damage to take down the bad guys. Moss was badly wounded, after all.

24 may have jumped the shark. My wife and I discussed not watching it anymore.
I'm upset with last night's episode. Here we were having a good season and the writers go and put Kim in another damsel in distress situation like every other season she's been in. I thought for once her role would be the dutiful daughter who turns around and tells Dad that she's going to save his life for once. But, no. She's been held 'captive' to persuade Jack to help the terrorists. Ugh! Now I only hope she is finally killed off so that there is no way this can happen again.

I don't think that will happen...I have heard they are already casting an older version of her daughter for next season.
-
The finale ticked me off. I can't beleive I invested 24 hours in the frakkin' show and they give me major cliffhangers - probably to be resolved in a two hour special some time this fall.
I enjoyed the season but the meta-conspiracy is starting to have an X-Files type vibe to it. Ever expanding, ever nefarious, never explainable.
-
True...but they need something to keep chasing, and to connect the seasons and they made some progress on it this go round.
Overall Ithought it was a good season...Kim wasn't the damsel in distress she usually is and the Tony playing both sides was a nice twist.
-
I didn't really care for the ending of the season either but overall Day 7 was a pretty good season. Of course I probably would have sat through it just to see Annie Wersching do...well, about anything. That's a hot girl.

-
I thought it was a very good season with many good twists and turns, but the finale was disappointing. I did like the president turning in her own daughter, I thought that was awesome. :)
-
I called it on Tony. ;D
I doubt I'll watch next year. Not really interested in an all-new cast...
-
meh....This was the first season I've watched very loosely and I didn't really care much for the ending. Been there done that with this show...getting stale.
-
Funny how 24 hours can change a person...I would have liked to see the interrogation while Janice was handcuffed to the wall. I am guessing the last 15 minutes or so was set up so that they could have killed off Jack if there wasn't going to be an eighth season.

I completely agree.

Jack's back.... but the show is off to a slow start.
We had to wait most of the first hour to get Jack's first "Dammit!".
I had read that this season starts slow but builds to some great action in the second half of the day.
-
I thought it was okay. Jack with the fire ax was a nice touch and the new CTU is way high tech but again with the mole problem? ::).
I'm not sold on Freddie Prince Jr yet or the side plot of the BSG chick and her stalker but we'll see where that goes. :P
-
I've been kinda getting burnt out with 24 the last couple of seasons since everything just seems recycled, but I taped last nights show so I'll give this day a chance. Four hours in two nights just seems a bit much IMO, but at least Jack's back.
-
Yep, a lot of "more of the same," but there was some decent action last night. I've watched this from the beginning so I'm sure I'll watch it again this season.
And yes, Freddie Prinze doesn't have the acting chops for daytime soaps let alone a 24 episode action show.

-

I'm sold on the BSG chick, but it has nothing to do with the show's plot... ;D
-
I feel like the journalist has been on 24 before... or somewhere familiar. Starbuck's side plot seems to have been done before too. And there's always the confident, never listens to reason (Chloe's) CTU director, too.
I guess I'll watch tonight's 2 episodes and see what happens.
-
I haven't watched 24 this season... figured enough was enough with the same thing happening over and over again. But I came across this interesting analysis at http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/100126&sportCat=nfl
"In the first season, in 2001, Jack was a highly successful federal agent with a 15-year-old daughter. Although Jack's age was never stated, he had to be at least 40. He was a college graduate who had received his master's in criminology, then joined the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of captain in the prestigious Delta Squad. After the Army, he worked for Los Angeles SWAT team, then joined the CIA in its clandestine wing. After this, he was recruited to the CTU, the mysterious agency where Jack toils when the series begins. Jack had to be 40 when the series began.
"Let's assume 43. Here is where the time line gets tough. Season 2 was 18 months after season 1, making Jack 44-45. Season 3 was three years after season 2, making Jack about 47-48. Season 4 was 18 months after season 3, making Jack about 50. Season 5 was 18 months after season 4, making Jack about 52. Season 6 was 20 months after season 5, making Jack about 54. 24-Redemption, a two-hour movie that supposedly tied things together, was four years after season 6, making Jack about 58. Season 7, happening shortly after Redemption, still has Jack at around 58. Season 8, looks to be two-three years after season 8, because Jack's grand-daughter is seen having conversations with him, making Jack around 60 years [old]. He's quite spry for 60! Also, add up the years and it is now 2014 in the series. Maybe that explains all the CTU super-technology that does not seem to exist in our reality."
-
Wow! That's interesting. Maybe Harrison Ford should be playing Jack Bauer now. Not gruff enough though.
-
Lots of assumptions up there.
-
Last night's episode was pretty good. I really like Renee's tortured character - quite a change from her gun shy, reserved portrayal last season.
-
Starbuck and her hillbilly boyfriend have to go. Other than that, I've been enjoying the season so far.
And bad ass bad girl Renee gives me the hot...
-
It doesn't say much for the "New" CTU's due diligence in performing background checks for its employees. Who can't get a job there?
And I agree, she and that storyline need to go away.
Anyone hope for a return of Agent Pierce or Black Jack (Curtis) to join Jack to save the day?
-
Anyone hope for a return of Agent Pierce or Black Jack (Curtis) to join Jack to save the day?
Curtis is dead, shot by Jack in season 6 I believe. I don't know for certain if Pierce will show up, but it's almost guaranteed. Other than Jack, he's the only character to appear in each season.

Well, its not like that's the most unbelievable part of 24. How many times has Jack already died??
I'm still loving this show. I'll be sad when Jack finally hangs them up for good.
-
This is the first season I haven't watched since 04 on a regular basis, but I found my VCR remote a couple weeks ago so I guess I have a marathon to run through if I'm going to hang on to this show. I caught some of last night's episode and I guess that CIA/FBI chick is psycho now so that's good news.

Thankfully that plotline is done. Hopefully, they can leave it as an unsolved murder in a park and not be brought up for the rest of the day.

Mole #4,583 revealed tonight ::) Someone definitely needs to kill that bitch.
Hmm, maybe the writers are thinking that moles in CTU is an easter egg nod, like Jango bumping his head on a lower door. Fifty years later people will watch and wonder which character is the mole?
But seriously, Dana's working for the IRK? How did she go from prison in Arkansas to terrorist? Is she sleeping with the main guy?
-
Tonight was definitely this season's "I call bull****" moment.
-
The season started showing some promise (minus the Dana parts) with the suicide bomber and his death scene.
-
Tonight was definitely this season's "I call bull****" moment.
I agree....seems to be the most incompetent mole ever. What has she really done to help the terrorists, especially while she had to deal with her ex for half of the season.
-
I love 24 and will usually defend the show up and down..... But I hated the "twist" this week with Dana as the Mole. Hated it.
-
I don't know, I thought it was okay for a twist - had there not been so many moles in the past. I figured she was screwed up in the head, but didn't expect this at least. So, it was at least a surprise.
I think with her, her plans were completely screwed up when her ex-boyfriend showed up which is what had kept her occupied so far - but, it seems like they're trying to make her the next Nina Myers - which can't be done. There's only one Nina - which was the best villain on the show ever in my opinion.
-

I agree about the whole Nina angle....but they cannot replicate that one.

I believe they messed up when they killed her off so early in the show's run. She would have made an excellent arch-villain to Jack. She could have been behind the scenes, make an appearance now and then. Besides, it was never resolved to whom she was speaking German to at the end of Season 1. So who was ultimately behind it all there?
-
I disagree. I think her character had run it's course. Glad they killed her off.

The groundbreaking action drama will air its final real-time episode in May, the victim of a confluence of circumstances: a swelling budget, declining ratings and creative fatigue.
Like using the same plot devices every episode? Moles, moles moles?
I'm not surprised to hear they are cancelling '24'. I think they just exhausted all ideas and couldn't find anything more to do. It's sad because there a lot of seasons that were great and others that were left lacking.... like this season. And it's evident. I'll miss Jack on Mondays though.

Creative fatigue? yeah..no doubt. I liked it from the get go, but it felt like almost watching the same "hour" over and over again these past few seasons. I'd be game to see a 24 movie, but it's too bad they couldn't come up with a new plot to keep the show fresh.
-
God. Damn. It. I am so pissed with the way last night's episode turned out.
E...
-
Me, too. I thought keeping Renee alive so she and Jack could live out their days would be a great ending. Both mentally ****** and so right for each other. Two heroes dead in the span of an hour. More bad writing this season.
I was right about Logan. Not dead.
-
I was commenting to my wife when we were watching last night that it was a pretty quiet episode for Jack then everything changed in the last 10 minutes. I wasn't happy as I really thought Jack was finally going to close out this season with some happiness. Guess not.
-
I was pissed at the ending too, because I really liked Renee a lot. But really, that's what makes this show so damn addicting. You never know who is safe and who is not (other than Jack).
It just makes the whole character of Jack Bauer all the more tragic - and makes you really want something to go right for him... and how about the new temporary director of CTU?
-
and how about the new temporary director of CTU?
Isn't that the kiss of death, too? (I know that Jack was once a director)
-
Jack is one poor bastard. The only thing he hasn't lost is his daughter and granddaughter. I guess the writers want him to be pissed off so he kills a ton of people in the final six episodes.

We should get a lot of that!
-
The 2-hour movie might be Jack vs the Russian Federation.
-
So it will end with eight years of seasons or in Jack's life: 8 days.
How much crap can happen to one guy in a week? So how much sleep did Jack get? I guess that week aged Jack a lot.
-
Last night's episode was one of the better ones of the past couple seasons. God that Logan is a shyster. What'd you all think?
-
I was pissed when it ended. At the 5 minute left mark I reminded myself not to get too into it/excited... but I fell for it again and was ticked when it went off!
I thought it was one of the better episodes too, gave off a classic 24 feel to it, I suppose is a good way to put it.
-
I've really liked this season quite a bit. Something about it really harkens back to the early days of 24 to me... gonna really miss this series once it's over.
-
Well, that episode was very satisfying. :)

Bye-bye, Starbuck.
4 more hours.
-
Stardoe got what was coming to her. Good riddance. I thought she'd kill Freddie.
-
Another satisfying episode. Glad to see things are back-firing on Logan's plan. And I love how Jack found the SIM card (and Jack's discovery!). 3 hours to go!
-
Bauer Unleashed! Two very good episodes, these most recent. I'm glad to see him cleaning house. I hate loose ends, especially when there's not going to be another season.
I can't wait for next week to see what Jack does about the others behind this cover-up.

-
I'll guess Logan will swallow a bullet.
-
It has really been awesome the last few weeks... ever since Logan has been back in the mix, I've been anticipating the moment when Jack finds out he's involved... damn, I'm going to miss this series.
-
So....What, there's 1 episode tonight and a two-hour finale next Monday? I haven't really been watching faithfully this season, but have tuned in from time to time. Will be interesting to see what pans out so I may tune in to watch the final few episodes.
-
Holy **** last night was good! I couldn't believe that they didn't show Jack go up the elevator but the aftermath blew my mind.
And the assault on the car? Pure genius. These last few episodes have been firing on all cylinders. No matter what happened earlier in the season, I'm going to say that this season looks like it's going out on a high note.

I agree, this has been the most enjoyable that 24 has been in a long time. I can't wait for Logan to be exposed (again) for the ******bag he is.
-
Why haven't I been visiting this thread more often? ???
I guess at some point I got tired of talking about TV and started to prefer just watching it. (Blame LOST)
I'm a 24 fanatic since Day 1, never missed an episode live.
Last season felt more exciting to me somehow, but a lot of that was due to their layoff in the wake of the writer's strike. Plus it was just good to see Tony again, implausible as it was.
This year? Meh. The threat level just doesn't seem terribly ominous. When the stakes aren't as high, it's hard to replicate the same level of urgency I guess. There have been a few great scenes though. Executing Starbuck has to rank in this year's Top TV moments.
Plus we got DB Sweeney and Michael Madsen this year...awesome.
Any guesses as to how it all ends next week? Figure Jack has to live if they are really serious about transitioning to films. Not sure what would really constitute a surprise ending at this point...

Jack kills kills Logan and Taylor, appoints Aaron Pierce as the next president? ;-)

Has Pierce even been in this season? Always rooted for that guy.
-
I didn't watch this season... everything just seemed to be getting too repetitive. But I figured I'd watch the last few hours and see Jack walk into the sunset. Pretty decent episode last night. I didn't have any problems getting caught up with what was going on. Kind of a cop-out to show Jack's wake of destruction at the embassy rather than him actually doing it. But it looks like things are shaping up for a decent finale.
-

No, I don't believe he has been in this season.
E...
-
Pierce is getting busy with Logan's ex. Or was until she died I think.
I actually thought it was more powerful showing the aftermath than the actual mayhem at the Russian Embassy.
I'll miss this show. With this out of the way and Heroes mercifully put out of its misery, my Monday nights are now free next year. ;D
-
That'll just free you up to watch Chuck.
E...
-
Better yet, start watching the CBS comedies.
-
I appreciate Chuck and I'm sure it's a good show, but I'm not inclined to jump in at this point. That thing is living on borrowed time anyway.
I did watch HIMYM once upon a time, but the $%@#& writers ruined it for me and I had to stop watching. One of the only shows I have ever consciously quit watching because I was so aggravated. "Slapsgiving" was awesome though.
24 has ruled my Mondays for as long as I can remember...going to be different.
-
Had a backlog of 24 on the DVR. We finally had some time so we watched the last three hours back-to-back-to-back. Jack's taken revenget to a new level in the last few hours. Really looking forward to tonight's finale. I'll be sad when its all over.
-
Sounds like Jack is going to go midevil on Chloe tonight...at least it sounded that way. Will definitely be an interesting finale. I'm sure they'll have to leave it open at the end for the movie.
-
Wow that was probably the best 2 hours of 24 ever. President Turkey Neck got off light. Pillar, not so much. It'll be interesting to see how this transitions to the movie.
-
I haven't followed this entire season like I have in the past, but I REALLY wish Jack would have offed Logan (snake) and the Russian president when he had the chance in the first hour. Oh well. The movie is set up....I expected more from this 2 hour finale of 24 though - not nothing crazy like LOST, but I wanted more except for Jack taking off again.
-
I thought it was a good ending but I really, really wanted Jack to off Logan also. It didn't actually end the way I was thinking it was going to end, though. I thought it would end with Jack captured/in a hospital/somehow in custody but didn't. It's sort of set up like the previous TV movie.
I'll go see a 24 film on the big screen, though.
E...
-
Besides the obvious movie set up...why did the President tell Jack to run since the both the Russians and the US will be after him. She is about to resign in disgrace, but could she at least sign a pardon for Jack before she resigns?
-
If she's going to resign, and submit herself to the attorney general, I don't know if a pardon would stick. It certainly wouldn't look too good so I'm sure Jack would end up in jail. He killed a lot of people, and not in the pursuit of solving a case, he just killed them. And tortured a couple of them. Even with a pardon, someone would be gunning to put him in jail.
E...
-
I don't think there has ever been a case where a Presidential pardon was overturned...it is Constitutional power granted to the President. With a full pardon of crimes, Jack couldn't go to jail. It would be similar to Ford's pardon of Nixon. Nixon had not been convicted and was pardoned and therefore never prosecuted.
-
The ending was okay, I guess, nothing spectacular. The movies are all set up as others have said.
-
I enjoyed the ending, but it wasn't particularly spectacular. I can't see Logan ever killing himself. That just seemed completely out of character.
-

Except he almost did in a previous season when the conspiracy was going to be revealed.
-
Logan was a weak-minded coward. I thought killing himself was exactly the type of thing he'd do. But, he may not be dead. He was still alive in the UN building so the writers always have an out if they decide they want him for something else.
E...
-
Yeah, he's still alive though possibly brain dead. I thought suicide would fit the weak-mind liar, too, though we really wanted Jack to do the douche-bag in. ;)
-
I'm curious to see how a movie would play out. I have a feeling Kim ends up in some sort of trouble and Jack has to rescue her. ::)
-
Four years later: anyone watching this? Kind of cool to see Catelyn Stark in it.
-
I'm in! Glad to see this show back.
-
I'm Jack...errr back. 8)
-
24: Season 9: Attack of the Drones
I wonder if Jack might die in this season and Kate (min-Jack) might take over his role.
-
I managed to keep my streak alive of having watched every single episode of this show live in real time.
I thought it was solid if unspectacular. I figured they would have upped the ante a little more since TV has sort of caught up to them the past few years with shows like Homeland. But it felt more or less like every other season.
It's been so long now I can barely remember the players anymore. Jack and Chloe and the Hellers are old favorites of course, but I dont recall if we are supposed to know her husband or Benjamin Bratt's character.
The stick thin blond just struck me as annoying...I foresee a lot of tiresome noise with her until she eventually pulls her head out of her ass and gets on board Team Jack. At least they've only got 8 more episodes so that should speed things along.
The Dragon Tattoo stuff was laid on a little thick with Chloe but I enjoyed seeing them smack around the Assange-clone a little bit.
Super psyched to see John "Episode 7" Boyega as the Drone Pilot though, your star is rising, baby!
-
I watched this last night and thought it was pretty good. I know when 10:00 rolled around and knew I'd have to wait another week to see more I was pretty agitated.
I've missed seeing Yvonne Strahovski on a weekly TV show so it was good to have her on 24, but I don't know where they're going with her character and 24 does have a track record for doing some kinda stupid things with certain characters (pretty much anything to do with Kim). Chloe's turn is kinda interesting, nothing in her CTU character ever suggested she'd go goth, though and the comparison to Dragon Tattoo seems kinda spot on.
Bratt and Donovan's characters are new. I think it was just Jack, Chloe and the Heller's coming back so far. I would definitely geek over an Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower) cameo though.

My wife doesn't care for "24" (mainly due to the torture stuff), but when she saw Yvonne Strahovski, she said she wondered if that was supposed to be Kim Bauer.

24: Solitary short starring none other than the second most bad ass dude in the 24 universe, Tony Almeida.
If this gets us another season with Tony, Chloe, Kate and that mercenary dude Jack hired in London kicking Commie ass and rescuing Jack, I'm all for it.
