Title: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Matt_Fury on April 23, 2005, 01:46 PM
Due out this fall, it looks like there are some good improvements to an already great game!

Check out the Official Site (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swbattlefrontii/indexFlash.html) for some screenshots and news.  They have some shots already of a Tantive IV level, Death Star Level and even some space battles!

Already this game is better than Force Commander!  ;D

I think it's pretty cool that you'll get a chance to use a lightsaber, I wonder if that means that you'll actually be playing as a Jedi.  Something I always thought would be a great addition to the original.

I wish they would have done a little more with the Rebel Commando uniforms.  I truely doubt that just because they were green on Endor that they always wear that kind of Camo.  We don't were jungle camo in the desert?
Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Jesse James on April 25, 2005, 05:35 PM
Yeah, the camo on every planet's a bit much.  With skins being easier to create than ever, I think they could've tweaked things so that the appropriate camo was on the appropriate planet.  Give the rebels some kind of positive in their corner.

The Game info section of the site says you'll be able to wield a lightsaber AND use force powers, so I guess you will get to be a Jedi.  I think this is a good idea since the Jedi are such a large part of the Star Wars universe, but I think it could also be a detriment to the game if EVERYONE on a particular server is playing as a Jedi.  Hopefully, the game developers have thought about this and have made ways for normal troops to compete against Jedi.

Another note is that they're improving the AI, probably the worst feature of the original.

Hey Jesse, did you see anything at C3 about the game?

Post by: Jesse James on April 25, 2005, 06:44 PM
They had kiosks set up...  Didn't get in to play though.  Lines at the con were hellacious, to say the least.  It's visually impressive, but I wasn't ever a HUGE fan of the original...  It's ok as an MP game but since I'm more a SP fan I was never that into BF that much.   :-\

Without actually playing, I dunno what tweaks they maybe worked in.  AI did suck though and I'd say Rep. Commando was vastly superior to BF even so they have some leaps they can make for sure.  Honestly, I'm sort of surprised on a sequal, especially so soon...

Post by: DooMTrooper on April 26, 2005, 03:36 PM
I think it kinda sucks that their making a sequel so soon, I would of happily spent money on an expansion pack.
I hope they release another map to tie in with ROTS being in the cinema.
Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Jesse James on April 26, 2005, 05:00 PM
That's the problem with consoles though, which this game was really pushed for XB over most other systems.  The expansion pack idea would've fixed this without having the buyer necessarilly paying $50 or so for a "new" game.  But to market it to who its intended for they pushed a sequal...  Not that an expasnion would have necessarilly been cheap though, of course.

I'm wondering what the popularity of a second one will be.  If it'll really draw people in a lot or what.   :-\

I think it will dol fairly well when it comes to sales.  BF1 was one of the most successful games LA has had, sale wise and BF2 has a lot of fixes and improvements that many people who played the game wanted (ie Jedi and Death Star Levels to name but two).

Couple that with it being made for PC, PS2 and X-Box....I think this game will also do quite well.

I wonder if they'll have a figure for this one if you preorder it like BF1.

I wonder if they'll have a figure for this one if you preorder it like BF1.

If they do, I hope it's a damm sight better than the last we got, I'd just wish Hasbro would release a set of figures from BF1 with the right weapons.

I got an email from Sony today.

Since I'm part of their Gamer Advisory Panel they send me offers to beta test future online games. Today they sent me an invitation to beta test BF2. So what did I do? I accepted of course!

More updates soon, they'll be emailing me soon about the test kits.

Gamespot has a preview of the game, including some videos.  Some of the levels look the same (Geonosis, Yavin, Jabba's Palace), but you also get a look at Courscant and an updated Kashyyk.

Check it out here (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/starwarsbattlefront2/preview_6128707.html?vid=1&push=0).

I'm thinking about picking up the original for X-Box just to play with my gf's kids or my friends...  I don't do XBLive so the game obviously has less appeal to me than most.

Sitting with some buds it was fun though,a nd there's definitely customizing potential in them too, I sorta hate not owning them.

I wish the series had a linear story/sp set that went with it...  It's the perfect engine to do more FPS gaming on.  It'd be nice to see them use it that way in the future.

Damnit Diddly!   :)

So, is this game going to be on XBOX, or just the upcomg XBOX 360?

 :P
Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Jesse James on August 20, 2005, 12:23 AM
X-Box...  I don't think I've heard much of anything planned on XB360 yet...

I got BFI last night for $20 and the SP campaign is almost already beat.  The game's incredibly easy to play by yourself.  It's eyecandy though and ok for customs ideas and whatnot.  Having played it almost start-to-finish though I think I'll wait for a low price on BFII as well before buying.  MP gaming's not my thing, but the game's very fun to look at and has an enjoyable aspect to itself...
Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Diddly on August 20, 2005, 02:40 AM
Okay, I played a few rounds with a few players on the Tantive IV earlier. I wanted to get into the bigger rooms, but I could never connect.

Levels are HUGE! You can go anywhere in the Tantive. I haven't played the other Beta level yet, Utapau, so we'll see how big that is.

Troops and controls are pretty much the same as BFI. In the Tantive level, you have five troops to choose from. Regular troopers (Stormies and Fleet Troopers), Heavy Artillery troops (RFTs and Stormies with rocket launchers), sharpshooters (Scout Trooper and I believe an Endor troop), and specialty troops (Wookiee Smuggler and Darktrooper). Pilots were replaced with a Bothan Spy and Death Star Trooper, and you can also play as an Imperial Officer. I may be missing a rebel soldier, though, as I'm freaking tired right now.

I'll post more later. Pretty fun, just like the first one.

 ;D

Well I just got done with an hour or so of playing. HOLY **** is all I have to say.

First I did a game on Utapau. It's a lot of fun. Droids are the same as the last game, but you can play as a Magnaguard instead of a pilot. There is a different Clone for each position (sharpshooter, grunt, etc.). I can't remember which helmets go with which commanders though, which really stinks. So I'll try to take a screencap later. The kinds of Clones I remember are 501st and Bacara grunts. Shocktroopers, regular white Clones, and Utapau grunts were not included. If you do really well, then it asks you if you want to play as a Hero character (Obi-Wan for Republic, Grievous for CIS). WOW. They're awesome. I only played as Grievous, but... wow. I'm really speechless. He can just mow down troops. Grievous can also make quick work of vehicles, but it takes a few minutes.

Then, I found a few rooms with the space battles. SPACE. BATTLES. ARE. AWESOME. My God, where to begin? Everyone starts off in the hangar of their side's ship. This was Republic vs. CIS, so it was the Invisible Hand vs. a Star Destroyer. There's also a IGBC ship flying around, but it doesn't do anything.

Now in the CIS docking bay are 2 Tri-Fighters and 2 Droid Starships. Republic has Obi-Wan's and Anakin's Jedi Starfighters (from the Battle of Coruscant), an ARC fighter, and a V-Wing. If you can't get to a ship, you can go and control a turret and try and blast the ships. This is rather boring though. Now, in the starfighters, you have to go inside the enemy's ship and land. After landing, you have to go in and destroy the defense shield. This is something like destroying the Hoth shield generator in BF1. This shuts down all of the turrets. THEN, you have to go in and destroy the shield generator. Again, this is like the Hoth generator in BF1. After you do this, you win. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME STUFF!

My God, if they could add more starfighters to the space battles, it would absolutely kick ass.I can't wait for the full version!

 :o :o :o

That sounds even BETTER than I have been imagining it! I can't wait, this game is going to be awesome. XBOX 360 better be backwards compatible.

I'll say it again:

Diddly, I am so freaking jealous of you. :P

Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Diddly on September 5, 2005, 02:59 AM
Okay, so I took a few screencaps (although I doubt 23 is a few :P). Please excuse their crapiness.

The main opening screen has the BF2 logo, as well as the logos of the Alliance and Empire. Each logo shows movie clips of that particular group. The picture shows Luke on Dagobah and Jabba. Other clips include Battle of Yavin, Battle of Hoth, Battle of Endor, and the Star Destroyer capturing the Tantive IV.

Since this is an Online Beta, the only thing we can do is log on to the servers. Luckily the connection was working today, and away we went to the above screen, the game room selection. Unfortunately, I think there were about 5 other people total online, so I was basically playing against the CPU all night. The beta consists of three levels - Utapau (CIS vs. Republic), Tantive IV (Empire vs. Rebellion), and a Space Dogfight over Kashyyk (CIS vs. Republic). Unfortunately, there were no Space battles available tonight, but I was able to play one a few weeks ago. For now, let's go to the Tantive.

The loading screen while waiting to get into a game.

When you first start out, you need to choose your side, either the Empire or the Rebellion. I first chose the Empire. Their troops consist of a Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper, Biker Scout, Imperial Officer, Death Star Trooper (the ones that fire the laser beam), and a Darktrooper. Each hold the same weapons they did in BF1, with Pilots being replaced by DS Troopers and Bothan Spies. The Pilots are playable in space battles though.

The controls are pretty much the same as BF1, and I'm glad. The controls were easy to follow and use, so I'm glad to see no major changes like other companies do with their sequels. The levels are HUGE! You can go anywhere in the Tantive, from the engine room, to the escape pod hallway, to the meeting room in ROTS where Obi-Wan, Bail Organa, and Yoda discuss the future of the twins. It's amazing to look at and very movie accurate, at least the parts we've seen on screen. :P After a while, I got bored with the Empire and did some rebelling.

The Rebel troops consist of two Rebel Fleet Troopers (one as a basic grunt, one as a heavy weapons troop), a Wookiee Warrior, a Smuggler, and a Bothan Spy. Their weapons are the same as in BF1 also. After some short fighting, I decided to go to Utapau.

A Smuggler views a table that I swear I've seen somewhere before.

The Smugger searches for R2-D2 and the stolen plans - TRAITOR!

On arrival into a Utapau game, you are again asked to choose whether you want to play for the CIS or the Republic. I chose the CIS at first.

CIS soldiers include a Super Battle Droid, Battle Droid, Red Battle Droid (not the kind from Geonosis), Destroyer Droid, and a Magnaguard. Again, the weapons are the same as in BF1.

On Utapau, there are two available vehicles to drive, an AT-RT and a Tank Droid. Both are no different from driving a vehicle in BF1, and it's fun to mow down troops with one of them. Onto the Clones...

As you can see, fans of Clones will not be disappointed. We have 6 different types of Clones here. 501st Clone, 501st Jetpack Clone (with a green visor similar to Commander Gree), an all white Commander Bacarra, a Commander Bacarra grunt (early Snowtrooper), a trooper with a Commander Faie helmet, and one last Clone I don't recognize (he's in the second pic). If you've read this far, you'll know that each Clone's weapons are the same as in BF1, so I don't have to tell you that they are. Wait a second...

Faie observes a quarter of the gigantic Utapau level.

A close up of the Tank Droid.

If you do really well, you get asked to play as a Hero character. Accept, and you can play as either Obi-Wan or General Grievous, depending on which side you chose. Hero characters are awesome, and they mow down troops with their lightsabers. There is no defense, however, and once you're dead, you're dead, and you'll have to work your way back up to play as a Hero again.

Space battles are very fun as well.

This is something like destroying the Endor shield generator in BF1. Luckily grenades are more powerful here. This shuts down all of the turrets. THEN, you have to go in and destroy the power core. Again, this is like the Endor generator in BF1. After you blow it up, you win.

Overall, the Beta is great, and I hope that the full version is even better. If you were a fan of BF1, start saving your pennies. This game will be great!

Thanks for the Screens diddly! To awnser your question, the trooper you didnt recognize is one of Commander Cody's Spec Ops troopers, or refered(incorrectly i might add) to Commander Fox. Also the Clone with the Jet pack and the 501sr marking is Commander Appo, who leads the 501st. And I have something to ask, could you post some pics of the Death Star Trooper/Gunner? Thanks! ;D

I don't, but I think I'm going to have to go look for it.  It should be pretty cheap by now (how long ago was BFI released, anyway?)

Almost a year ago, same day as the OT DVD's release.

I got the demo of BF II and Diddly, I was wondering if your really timed, 'cuz in the demo you have like 7 mins for the Utapau demo level.

Demos are different than Betas. Betas are used to test a certain part of the game. Demos give you a sample of things.

Is the ROTS DVD going to have a demo? I'm running short on $$$ and need to save some dough for a XBOX 360, that crap is going to drop me $500 or so. ::) So I need to cut pennies where ever I can and I think BF2 might be one of those places.

I don't know about that Ryan, but I'll get it and you can come over and watch me play it.   :-*

BTW Diddly, I think I speak for everyone on the boards when I thank you for sharing the info you learned while Beta Testing.  I know we all were more than a little jealous too.   ;D

Seriously, thanks again for whetting our appetites!

I'm hearing bad things about BF2...

Rebel soldiers flying LAAT Gunships? Damn, there go my dreams of a more movie-accurate BF.
Rebel soldiers driving Jedi tanks? See Above.
No unit-specific commander skins? Damn, there go my dreams of playing as Cody, and commanding the 212th.
No theatre-specific unit skins? Damn, there go my dreams of the 212th altogether.
Bacara as heavy trooper? Damn, there go my dreams of an accurate military structure.
501st Troops at the Battle of Kashyyyk? Lazy.
Flight Control still sucks? Disapointing.
Luke having a green saber at Hoth? Travesty.

Damn I hope some things get worked out before release.

I purchased it today and I'm about to load it onto my laptop.  I wanted to watch the DVD first.  :D

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Best Buy had a dvd version of the game, so it will now be a whole lot easier to install....one disc instead of 6.

I didn't buy...  This is the type of game that wears thin to me, so I'm not buying till it's cheaper by a substantial bit.  I played the demo's on the DVD though and it was meh...  I don't like that Clones aren't mission specific (IE: The Utapau level has a variety of Clones and not Utapau colored Clones as in the films).  It's a minor gripe but visually it detracts for me and my gaming experience.

The gameplay seemed to have only minor tweaks/changes, so the gameplay's still good enough...  I didn't care for the space level though, as the controls were funky still and felt very unchanged in quality.

The demo's are also incredibly ****** short.  The Utapau one is timed, and the space one's pathetically short.  I guess they must have felt a full level like Endor's for BF1 was just too much to "give away" to the fans.  It didn't endear me to buying the game, but I do somehow think that single-player for BF2 may be somewhat better.  From what I've heard the game has more qualities of a SP game mixed in with the obvous MP qualities...  That's promising but not enough for me to bite on it right now.  Down the road I'll gladly own it though.

I'm holding out too.

I spent $50 for the first one only to see it become a "Greatest Hit" 6-8 months later ($19.99).

Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Morgbug on November 2, 2005, 12:25 PM
I picked it up, but haven't loaded it yet.  I was expecting a price of $49.99 for the sale with a regular price of $59.99, the norm in Canada for new PC video games.  Much to my surprise is was only $39.99 yesterday, so $20 off the regular retail was enough to push me to buy it.

Cool video....thanks for sharing.

I played a bunch of instant action games last night....just to get a feel for the levels before I actually play online.  I really like the improvements they've made on the game.  Earning points to play some of the more powerful characters and the Hero characters are great to play...and although they are powerful, they are far from undefeatable.

I also like that there are more types of games to play....more "traditional" multiplayer games like Capture the flag and such.  Although I was happy to just have the large scale battles in various Star Wars locations....it will be also kind of fun to play some CTF sometimes.

I think the space battles are where this game needs some improving.  Not that they are all that bad...but I've been struggling in them.  Granted, I haven't been playing them much, it's just my first impressions of the game.
Title: Re: Battlefront II!!!!
Post by: Angry Ewok on November 2, 2005, 05:44 PM
I bought it for PS2... It's basically an 'Update' to Battlefront, but instead of adding better things and leaving the good stuff from the first version alone, they've made some of it worse.

First the big negatives...

+ AI wasn't touched at all, which is so disapointing, because in Battlefront, the AI was incredibly stupid... but it's seemingly worse, now, because :

+ No more squad commands... Instead, you just tap "Up" and it will randomly hand out an order... Instead of 'Up' for 'Follow me', 'Down' for 'Hold this Position', etc. - now you've only got 'Up' for everything - which is so buggy, that so far I've only been able to order 'Follow me' and 'Disperse'... So, while you're frantically tapping 'Up' to get the retarded AI to do anything but stand silently in the corner (yes, they still do this), you end up telling them to Follow and Disperse at the same time.

No more squad control = Now you have to be Rambo.

+ Crappy HUD... I'm not a fan of the new HUD at all, but I suppose its because I haven't gotten used to it... One thing - the radar is at the top corner now, and it's pretty hard to see where 'North' is... it looks weird, and sometimes its hard to see. I'm also not too sure where to look to see how I'm doing with ammo... It doesn't indicate what kind of bonuses you've just picked up (Health, Ammo, etc), it just beeps - so when I back up over a bonus, and hear a beep, I end up freaking out thinking there's an enemy around.

+ Map and radar is no longer very helpful. The map no longer tells you if there are any vehicles awaiting at a spawn point. Also, enemy points tend to randomly pop up all around you...

+ No more vehicle supremecy... Remember in Battlefront, where you could turn the tide of a battle with a vehicle? Those days are over. The vehicles have been seriously neutered - not just vunerable to Anti-Craft weapons (which is fine), but also to grenades... A grenade doesn't even have to be stuck on your craft to drop you to half-health. I was under the impression that when struck at a vital spot, you could take on more damage - I didn't expect a Republic Tank to get blown up after 2 or 3 grenades. Getting in a vehicle is usually suicidal, now.

+ Inaccurate skins... I already knew this was the case before buying, but for those of you who didn't know, the developing team was too lazy to do skins for each Campaign...

+ Flying with a co-pilot still serves as useless. If you swap positions from the pilot to the gunner/bomber, the pilot will simply wreck your bomber/landing craft into something. Always. I actually sat in a Landing Craft to see if the AI would attempt to board the enemy ship, because that was a big hyped up thing about BF2 - landing on the enemy's ship... No, it didn't try to land, instead... it straffed the ship until we were shot down by enemy fighters... getting an entire load of Marines killed.

+ Boarding enemy ships? What happened to that? There was all this hype about being able to board the enemy and take control, in Galactic Conquest... but once you actually board the (only) enemy ship, you realize that it's the exact same layout as your ship... closed-in, with only a few rooms to explore (the little hangar leads into a 'Control' type room, where the ship's batteries are controlled, which leads to a) Shield Generator, b) Life Support, c) Engine room).... You cannot capture the ship, you can only repair your boarding craft so that it can be used as a remote spawn (which your stupid AI neither protects, or takes advantage of).

+ Space sucks... It's redundant as hell, and not very fun. Overhyped is an overstatement.

+ Piloting is still crappy, by the way. And since it's crappy, you'll notice :

+ Collision detection is still crappy. Oh, and :

+ Textures still "wave" like an ocean... Just do a fly-by on the (only) Calimar capitol ship.

+ When you're piloting a bomber, you might as well leave the seat open for yourself to fly manual and bomb at the same time... Define useless? Your bomber/gunner will not fire at your highlighted target... in most cases he'll just occupy the seat and not fire at all.

+ Rebels have Republic Gunships. Dumb.

+ No more Cloud City.

+ No more Rhen Var.

+ Terrible Storyline - according to the game, the 501st won ever single major conflict in Star Wars. Even in the Original Trilogy. Just terribly uncreative.

+ Terrible Storyline Mode gameplay - Knowing that you cannot rely on your team for anything due to the ****** AI, plus knowing that you cannot command them, plus knowing that no matter how much of a defense you put up - you'll probably be over-run, because the enemy reinforcements appear to be infinite, equals you'll probably beat the Storyline, and then never touch it again. I stopped playing the storyline altogether, after finally being able to beat the Jedi at Coruscant (after about 6 start-overs) and later the resistance at Naboo (probably another 6 start-overs).

+ Hero Selection - In the middle of a gunfight, at the bottom of the screen (where you aren't looking), it'll ask you if you want to play as the hero (Vader, Boba Fett, etc)... If 'Yes', press 'Right', if 'No', press 'Left'... Half of the time I don't even realize it's down there, and the other half, I accidentaly hit the Left or Right doing something while in combat... Crummy design. It'll freeze your game to tell you what the next objective is, but not to ask if you want to play as a Hero? Bah.

MORE TO COME

Some pro's...

+ New Maps - Most of the new maps are pretty awesome. The mappers obviously took alot of time and care for most of these... It's too bad the rest of the developing team didn't care as much for the game. Dagobah is particularly awesome.

+ Untouched Old Maps - I actually liked having some of the exact same maps, with hardly any touching up. Look at it this way: do you really want anything to be touched up, after seeing how the other cool things got "touched up" and made crappy? Exactly.

+ Same Jet Pack Trooper - Thank god they didn't mess with this, too much.

+ Improved Dark Trooper - The Jet Pack is much easier to manage now, as it doesn't blow you to hell and waste all of its energy, anymore - you can tap it off after the initial burst, to make a shorter flight. Also, he's got a 'Lightning Gun' now, instead of the shotgun (which makes for a great Jedi killer, btw, guys)...

+ Good to have a Hero class - it's nice to be able to play as Chewbacca, Leia, Luke, Obi-Wan, Aayla, Mundi, Anakin, etc, etc... It offers a bit of diversity.

+ Boba Fett - I wasn't expecting much out of Boba, because all of the other Heros didn't live too long with me, for the most part, but damn is he awesome! He's got a blaster rifle, a flame gun, the same jet pack as a Jet Pack Trooper, and missiles. It all spells for a long game-play... cause he'll be absolutely slaying infantry.

+ No more Pilots on battlegrounds (kinda) - It's good to see Death Star gunners replace TIE Pilots as engineers and whatnot...

+ Stats - You now have much more detailed stats that you can actually keep on your memory card... if I remember right, it records Kills, Deaths, Captures, among other things, and it gives you a kill ratio, which is especially neat to see (I think I'm ranging about 6 kills per death,  :-[ )...

+ Awards - Along with Stats, you get awards during combat, which are kept on record. For example, if you get 6 head shots with the sniper rifle in one life, it'll award you something like the 'Sniper Award'... which basically just goes on record saying that you did this incredible feat X amount of times... along with that, it'll rank your class in that particular field. As a sniper, slicer, engineer, etc, I'm ranked 'Green', but for my Endurance, I'm ranked 'Elite', and a Veteran class in 'Hero' awards (killing 30-something in one life)... I haven't really looked into this too much, but it might be fun to compare stats in a few weeks or so (if anyone actually buys the damn thing after seeing all the bad reviews).

+ Galactic Conquest - plays out much better, now. In Battlefront, all you could do with Galactic Conquest was select one of only 5 or 6 planets, attack it twice, and it's locked... Now you have to move your unit from point to point across the webbed galaxy (with quite a few maps, probably 15 or so?), while the enemy moves its unit... Victories give you credits, credits buy you more units (to cover the web faster), bonuses, and opens up all of the trooper classes (you begin with just a Stormtrooper).

MORE TO COME....

I think the map that is the hardest for me is Polis Massa.  Even when playing as Yoda, that map is really hard (I have not played the Civil War era version, only the Clone Wars era version).  Another map that is really hard for me is the Death Star, even when playing as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (for the Galactic Republic) and also as Luke Skywalker (for the Rebel Alliance) the map is very challenging and very dangerous. The maps in Battlefront 2 are mostly hard and challenging. Also every map in the game has a spot in which AHBL!

Post by: VF/501 on May 4, 2006, 02:49 AM
Cons:

-No LAAT/i on the ground missions
-NO Droid Gunship on ground missions
-AI still sucks
-NO free borading and shooting from said gunships (door gunner)
-No truly epic battles
-Generic interiors for the space missions- no exploring a Star Destroyer or Calamari Ship :-[
-Weakened  concussion effect of heavy blaster cannons on ground vehicles :(
-Weakened Jet trooper EMP gun- smaller blast radius
-All classes have the same weapon stats between factions-no more learning the idiosyncracies of the units detracts from game play
-No dual pistols for Jango and no actual clone commander with dual pistols
-No True ARC troopers- Pulse rifle, grenades, remote explosives etc
-Same generic objectives in none story modes
-Idiotic story line
-CTF can go on forever if you don't step in (great for medals)
-Ridiculous requirement for permanant Rocket launcher upgrade (65 times of getting 4 crit hits!!!)
-damage ratios for starfighter weapons are messed up and the infinite torpedoes is stupid and so is how weak they are
-plus ship boarding and dogfighting is not what it should be

Pros:
-Space battles in general is a good addition
-New vehicles and units are cool- to some extent
-Dark trooper's ARC caster kicks jedi ass!!!
-Got rid of Clone pilot's lame bolt caster
-Remote explosives!!!
-Droideka is not a one sided unit any more
-Better explosive to armor damage ratio for the vehicles
-Elite rifle and precision pistol are good additions
-Improved Galactic conquest
-Better details in the maps
-Better shot gun
-Chain gun rocks
-Sniper is no longer super weak
-Wookee is way better

Tell me if I missed any.

Are you an idiot intentionally? It's not funny, it's not helpful, but it is frustrating to have to sift through bull**** to read about BFII.

Brad:

I had BFII on my desktop computer, and was doing pretty well, but my motherboard is dead now. I'm pretty sure I haven't lost everything, but I can't start Windows to look around. One thing I did notice about this game though, is you lose your edge if you play it too much. On single player, even with AI at maximum difficulty, they don't stand a chance. I went back to DOD (my primary FPS) from BFII and found that I sucked...I sucked a lot. I still haven't recovered, so BFII is out of the picture for me.

I'm not an idiot.  Just a big Star Wars fan, and this is an awesome game.

Let's just move onto another thing with the game.

I believe the orbital bombardent, if that is what you are refering to, can only be activated by a recon droid in the original Battle Front. I do not believe that it was carried over to the sequel, but rather replaced by a self-destruct feature. I hope that helps.

Just a head's up to anyone who may not have picked this game up yet:

No idea if this was a completely isolated incident or not, but my local Best Buy had the BFII game for the ultra-cheap price of only $19.99 today!!  :o  There was a $19.99 sticker placed over the old price sticker, but I was certain it must have been a mistake, so I had the customer service rep price check it, and he confirmed it was just $20.  Since I usually wait for the SW games to go on sale, I went ahead and snagged this one much earlier than I usually get to do with the other games.  Good deal.  Of course, I still haven't played the original Battlefront quite yet, but...  :P

Hopefully some other folks can find a similar deal at Best Buy.  Good luck!

- Matt

The Mos Eisley Assault level is really awesome.  Whenever the Star Wars main theme plays, I like to switch to Luke Skywalker.

$20 isn't bad Matt, I may have to look for one...  BF was a game I've never felt quite cut the mustard.  Honestly I even liked BFI more than BFII even.  $20 I may bite though...  I just got Rep. Commando on the cheapy cheap for $15 used...  :)  Love waiting for stuff to be available for less.

I hope a BF III is in the plans for next year, maybe with new levels & characters like:
Lando Calrissian
Padme' Amidala
Kit Fitso (For PS2/PS3)
Asajj Ventress (For PS2/PS3)

Cato Nemodia
Ilum
Old BFI levels
Alderann
Utapua lower levels
Kashyyyk Jungle
Endor Space

I'd be neat if you can choose what clone legion on the Republic side for instance the Shock Troopers,212th,41st etc... except on Kashyyyk where the only troopers are the Kashyyyk Trooper,Hoth & Myggeto w/ the Galctic Marine style suit. Also each legion has a specific commander Appo,Cody,Bacara,Bly,etc...

Those ideas probably should belong in the Battlefront 3 discussion
