I think Owen deserves his own thread here. His work is fascinating. He wasn't going to open one, but when I asked him about it, he said sure, go ahead. So, here I am, basically kissing his ass because his work is so good - and he's humble about it. Which is amazing.
Anyways, here are a few of his masterpieces that I'd like to discuss with you guys, and hopefully even get some pointers from Owen himself.

WOW! Those are all incredible! They look really professional. I think I've seen a few of them on other web sites, but I love checking them out. That rebel troop transport is great ;D
oh yeah, that Homing Spider Droid is excellent, I don't even think Hasbro could have done something that looked that good. Keep up the good work man!
-
I agree... and the coolest thing (to me anyway) is that all of these will appear in upcoming photonovels in the Rykrof Enloe series. The Homing Spider Droid already has actually.
Sorry the images are so big, I don't know how to resize them...
:P

Owen makes me jealous every time I see his stuff. Man, that boy is creative!
-DD
-
They are amazing works this guy has real talent

JEEEEEEEZ, those look great!
Awesome weathering details on the Battlefront wall pieces ;D :o
-
Wow.. I haven't seen any of his stuff for years (I stopped cruising the customs alliance years ago)
Quite impressive. He stood otu in my ind then, and continues to do so.
-
Did I mention that every single item I have posted (except for the Speederbike Lancer Droid) is now part of my collection at home? :)
:P
-
Check out this other stuff that the master has made -

Man, I hadn't seen that Mon Calamari soldier before, that's really good. Does he make those beasts out of clay or what?
Why doesn't he post here??
-
I'm not exactly sure what he molds those beasts out of... I wish I knew. But it's not like I could make stuff in league with this.
I've tried to get him to post here more, he's only posted here a few times I think. :(
:P
-
I've tried to get him to post here more, he's only posted here a few times I think. :(
:P
I keep telling you, I'm just too lazy! :D Maybe I'll post the next stuff here first. Owen D
-
Lazy... that's as good of a reason as any. :)
Yeah, hopefully you'll post some more of your stuff here. If not, I probably will. ;)
:P
-
I think it's time for me to kiss Owen's ass again.

Holy Christ the SD Bridge is F'ing amazing :o
Yes it is! That's why I bought it (and just about everything else in this thread) from him. ;)
:P
-
I'm ordering my own Star Destroyer bridge from Owen as soon as he's finished with my droid. :P
-DD
-
all of Owen's work is amazing, there are no doubts there at all. my favorite pieces have to be the Mon Calamari riding the creature and the IG Lancer Droid on the Speeder bike from Clone Wars.
i don't blame you buying all of those items Chewie...i would imagine they are even better looking in person and i agree with you 100% Owen is in a league of his own. thanks for sharing the images with us.
-
DD, what droid is he making for you?
Ripley, sometimes it gets a bit expensive when ordering so much stuff; and they do look even better in person, much better I think.
:P
-
DAMN what else can you say about his work but HOLY SHITE that is impressive work I especially like all the structures very very realistic work well done indeed.
Ron
-
Owen is a god, what else can I say?
The details are incredible and they definitely do not have that homemade feel to them. Wow. Just wow.
-
Usually I make my own figures, but here's one that he made for me recently.
And of course the beautiful completed Star Destroyer. These were taken at my home.

Owen D has officially started on a Death Star for me now... I can't wait to show some pics of it. Most likely I won't get the first level until sometime in January though.
This is one that I might commission him to make for me - I think he actually made it for someone here?
If so, I might have him not paint it, just because I kind of would like to maybe add my own paint scheme.
Also, I love this custom of Noa from the Ewok special.

:P
-
Wow.. a star destoyer and a death star from owen. You should at least let him out of your basement and give a break. It is the christmas season you know. ;D
I can't wait to seem them. Owen always does a top notch job.
-
I don't think there's any question that he's the best diorama creater around. His work is breathtaking.
When I get the Death Star (which will be made one level at a time) I will update with pics.
:P
-
You guys seen his latest?

-
He's been making some of the greatest stuff I've seen to date...
Does anyone know how to begin a project like that?
-
Yeah. His stuff if fantastic. Owen, if you're reading this, maybe you could do a step-by-step breakdwon of your next project. If you've ever been to Niubniub's Diorama site, he does very, very detailed step-by-steps. I would love to see one of your projects from the very beginning.
-
How much does something like that laser tower cost? I assume they cannons track upward?
You guys seen his latest?

He didn't make that one for me, and I don't want to publically say what he charges me for stuff, but keep in mind that I've bought close to 30 things from him and have become friends with Owen, and I get a bit of a price break. Your best bet is to probably email him through his site to get a price quote. Lots more pics of it through his site too of the cannons showing how they move. Check out his site, tons of great stuff there. ;)

I wish Owen would come by more, anyways here is the latest he's made in the playset department. I should have this by the weekend.

Wow, that is simply stunning. You are a lucky guy Chewie!
-
Thanks Brent. I'm so excited over this piece it's ridiculous! You commission him too if you want. :)
:P
-
Holy flippin' cow! :o :o :o
He gets better and better...
-
Damn the man has some serious talent I'll give him that he's latest pieces are awesome.
Ron
-
I don't know how Owen does it. That's remarkable work, especially with the controls behind R2 and 3PO. Some electronic lights in the walls would make it even better, and it's just about perfect now!
-
This little observation post is simple by Owen's standards, but I thought it was worth a bump to this thread.
And also his fantastic Gunship turrets -
(http://www.owenscustoms.com/balls2.JPG)
:)
-
I saw these on his website. His work is amazing.
-
Owen is definitely the best custom playset maker !
-
Yep I agree with that!
Man those gunship bubble turrets are sweet! I still dont have side turrets on my gunship yet :(
Owen made some pretty frickin sweet clone wars mandalorians. You know, that green color scheme? And a pretty badazz holiday special Boba. ;D
-
Wow, Owen, your props are absolutely INCREDIBLE! They look like they came straight from the Lucasfilm studio -- I'd barely know some of that stuff was 1:18 if it weren't for the figures in the photos. Excellent work indeed. :)

Owen has updated his site with some pictures of diorama props that he recently made for me!
Check 'em out here -

I got this awesome set last week and I love, love LOVE it. Hopefully we'll see 'em in a photonovel.....one day.
-
insane, it's just insane how cool the furniteure look !
-
I received the 4th level of the Death Star playset that Owen made a few months ago. Here's some pics of it stacked up.

Maybe someday before we're all old and gray, Hasbro or another company will deliver something along these lines for fans.
Also, been in the stages of desiging the Chancellor's Office with Owen, but that's still a ways off.
:P
-
:o :o :o :o I AM SPEECHLESS!!! :o :o :o :o 8) 8) 8) 8)

Owen is definately the man. That DS playset is fantastic! Do you own that one Chewie? What would make it even better is a working elevator and gun station. Maybe even a bridge to swing across. That would add more play value to it. I wonder what would happen if Owen and Frank got together to design something huge?
-
Yep, it's in my collection. I think it's got to be my favorite item.
It's awesome but like you said, a working elevator and gun station would add a lot to it. Someday I might be able to get another level or two for it and maybe he could make something else, or maybe a ROTJ style one with the Emperor's throne room. It would definitely be awesome. And thinking of Niub Niub and Owen working on a joint project... wow!
:P
