November 1st has come and gone and we have just wrapped up our first Custom Contest. 

I'd like to start off by thanking everyone who entered a custom in the contest. We received a bunch of really good entries. I was impressed at the variety of different figures we have. Our 'theme' this time around was any character off of our Top-30 list that we sent in to Hasbro for the Fan's Choice Poll. It was a fairly wide open topic, so I was expecting to see some variety, but I was astonished to see that everyone submitted a different figure. That should make this a very close race.

Now that we have all of our entries it is time to vote on the winners! (Just when you thought election season was over ) Whether or not you submitted a custom, we encourage everyone to vote. We are going to have three categories to vote in, and they look like this:

Most Production Level - This doesn't necessarily mean the 'best' overall figure. What we are looking for here is the figure that looks like it would be something that we would get from Hasbro. This refers to the paint, the sculpt/part choice, articulation and things of that nature.

Most Creative - Fairly self explanatory. See a figure you really like and it appears to have taken a stroke of genius to make it? Vote for that one. 

Most Unique use of Non-SW Parts to Create a Star Wars Figure - Recognize a part from a GI-Joe figure? Have no idea where a set of arms come from but know they don't belong to a Star Wars figure? Vote for it here.

There are a few rules to the voting process:

• Please pick only one figure for each catergory.
• You can only vote for a figure once (i.e. you can't vote for the same figure in more than one category.)
• Entrants were allowed to enter more than one figure, so you can vote for two figures from the same customizer, as long as they are for different categories.
• Voting for your own figure is allowed, but generally isn't the classiest of maneuvers.

I have some extra figures from the Wal-Mart Exclusive Evolutions sets if anyone is interested. I have two each of the Red ARC Trooper Alpha and the Republic Commando (Fi Skirata.) I'm looking to trade these for either the Evolutions TIE Pilot, John Branen form the Rebel Set, or Jake Farrell also from the Rebel set. I'm also looking for TLC Hoth Rebel Troopers.

I'm also willing to sell these. The cost is $8.74 each (cost + the amount of tax per figure) If no one claims these in the next week or so I'll probably return the sets to Wal-Mart. (They are currently unopened.)

I don't know why it hadn't occured to me before to ask this question, but does anyone here (Jesse I'm looking at you) know which of the upcoming Storm Commandos is more accurate? The Evolutions version or the one from the comic pack? I'm kind of wanting to put together a squad of these guys, but I'd like to do it with one type. Here's the comparison between the two:

 

Aside from the obvious color difference, there seems to be a couple things different with the sculpt as well. The Evolutions version is mostly the VTSC Scout, with a new helmet, shins, and a belt. I'm struggling on the comic pack version though. The General Wier looks like he is entirely the Endor BP/VTSC removable helmet scout sculpt with a new head and bandoleer. But the commando with him is different. He is missing the ankle holster which means his shins aren't the VTSC sculpt and the quads aren't either, but they don't look like the Evolutions version either. It almost looks like he uses the VTSC Snowtrooper legs. Same with the arms.

I'd like to know which is technically more accurate. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I finally got around to snapping some updated pictures of my collection. I don't think I've taken any pictures of my collection since before the ROTS line came out, so it has changed substantially over the last few years. I just got 'done' reorganizing the room (none of us are ever really done with our collection rooms. ) I was about out of room so I had to put a lot of stuff away in storage. Most of my old POTF2, EP1, and SAGA figures and vehicles have been put away. Almost all of my LEGOs are in storage as well. I only have a few Sideshow figures but they are currently tucked away in the closet as well, as are my Galactica, Stargate, and Buffy/Angel collections. I need to find somewhere to display them. I do have some pictures of them when they were on display at my old house though. I've also been selling a lot of stuff lately. All of my Republic Gunships are gone, my Geonosis arena, and a few other clone vehicles are gone. MY ROTS Clone army is all boxed up waiting to be sold. And most of my droid army is also in a box somewhere. I couldn't stand having so many droopy droids. Everything packed under the desk is stuff I'll probably be getting rid of.

The lighting in my room is absolutely atrocious, that paired with my crappy camera made it hard to get that many good pictures. One of my next projects is to install some lighting inside all of my shelves, and maybe put some track lighting on the ceilings. I also need to rehang some vehicles. I had a few more up, but they either got knocked down somehow or I took them down because they were blocking the light. The T.V. stand they are on now is just temporary, I didn't have any place else to put it when I moved back so it is acting as a shelf for now. The individual shelves aren't big enough for the dioramas I'd like to build so all of those pseudo dioramas are also just temporary displays that I'd like to replace when I get some more accommodating shelving. I figured I'd throw up a few photos of my ROTS clone army before I part ways with it. This doesn't include any vehicles and there may be a few clones that aren't pictured:

So I've finally reached the point where I've come to realize I have way too much stuff. I've been collecting since '97 and I've accumulated a lot of crap. Collecting has almost gotten to the point where it is a chore more than an enjoyable hobby (and I'm not even a carded completionist). And that's not why I got into this hobby. Over the last two years I've made an effort to only buy what I really like and care about. As a result I almost stopped Prequel and EU collecting all together, and have begun to focus more on the OT stuff I really enjoy collecting. I've decided I'm going to take that one step further and attempt to get rid of most of my Prequel stuff and carded figures. So I've got a bunch of stuff here for cheap. My carded stuff here has all been displayed on my wall for years. Condition varies on the carded stuff, some of it is in pretty good condition and nothing is bad. But by in large I wasn't too picky when I bought these, so they may be better for openers or people looking to fill in a few holes in their collection inexpensively. If you are curious about any item in particular let me know and I can give you a better description of the condition. If you buy a lot of stuff I'll be willing to work with you on the price.
