Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures
« on: March 5, 2004, 12:54 PM »
Nope, one of each was all they had.  The girl must have had 2 cases of the FOTR set on the pegs and in those two there was only one Gladrial and one Elrond...

Went to TRU today and bought:

-Treebeard (Big one)
-There & Back Again set

Saw an elf archer with uruk, but passed on it, and now kicking myself that I did. THEN I went to KB where I hit the motherload,

The girl just put out a boatload of Trilogy figures and I racked up:

-Arwen
-Gladrial
-Eowyn
-Gandalf the grey
-Saruman
-Elrond
-FOTR Legolas
-Prologue Elf Warrior
-Twilight Witchking
and
-ROTK Crawling Gollum
-ROTK Eomer

What a great day!!  I only saw the mordor set at TRU, I was hoping to find the twilight one, but no such luck...If I feel good after work sat. I am gonna take another ride up to KB and see if they put anything more out...

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2004: What Are You Collecting?
« on: March 3, 2004, 10:19 PM »
Definatly Collecting

Star Wars:  Saga, OTC, OTC Vintage, Busts. - May skip on a few figures that I don't like/need/already have, and I will get all the busts that I can afford.  I just need the blue clone, actually, and I am all caught up on them when my greedo/biker ship.

Buffy/Angel:  Figures, 12" Figures, Busts - All.  As long as my paychecks keep rolling in, these will keep coming.  Fans of this line really have to give it their best and buy as much as possible.  Diamond was kind enough to pull it out of MAC's action figure hell and bring to us what we were promised years ago.

Ghostbusters - Figures - GB was a huge part of my childhood, and missing out on the great figures NECA is pumping out would be idiotic.

Buying what I like

Predator/Aliens:  Figures, Possibly Busts - I really like McFarlanes figure line for these films, and will probably pick all of the new ones up.  I would like to collect the busts from Palisides as well, but it all depends on how much money I'll have coming in...I keep hoping for that job promotion  8)

LOTR:  6" Figures, 20" Figures - This is a line I like to pick and choose from.  I like to buy these on sale because I know they aren't too hard to find with a few exceptions.  And you KNOW Toy Biz will just re-release what you miss in 6 months...  I really like NECA's 20" figures, and will definatly get them, as they are WONDERFUL pieces of art, they are like a cheap Sideshow Statue, IMHO

So thats it, and adding older pieces to my collection as well.    Yay for ebay and stupid sellers.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rate your job satisfaction...
« on: January 26, 2004, 03:42 AM »
I've probably only been at my new job for close to a month and a half and I absolutly loathe it, but I get along.  I just try to think the best and make the day go faster, but sometimes it just gets terrible.

I work part time at a Nursing Home, BTW, in the kitchen.  depending on my shifts, I am either washing dishes, sweeping/mopping floors, making juices, desserts, and various other help.  Of course, of the 15 or so people that work there I can only really tolerate an entire day with about 4 of them.  Most of them are 50 year old women with 10 kids, a drinking problem, and lazy husbands, so they come to work with their ****** attitude and take it out on everyone else.

There is only one other guy who works there and he is a 65 year old pain in the royal arse who thinks NOBODY in that kitchen is better than him, unfortunatly he screws us up all the time.

The supervisor should be hiring more help, but she doesnt, and instead fired one girl and let two quit within the past month so we've been working short all the time.

then of course you have the wonderful residents who DEMAND DEMAND DEMAND.  Most of the residents of the home are fine and friendly and cooperative, but some of them are so demanding and hard to deal with.

Its good pay, around $7hr, but with some of the BS i have to putup with isnt worth it sometimes.

maybe someday I'll have my own business...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Angel Season 5 *Spoilers*
« on: October 4, 2003, 01:27 PM »
I enjoyed the episode...

Angel's "One thing about me, I have no problem spanking men." and Harmony's "Blondie Bear!" comments were priceless.

That thing Angel did with the Swat guy's shotgun was also priceless.  I think that is the first time he killed a human being as 'good' Angel...

Also, about Corde, after she was evil last year, she gave birth to Jasmine, and has since been in the coma.  Supposedly she will awake later on in the season or next and her storyline will be done.  However, noone will come clear as to why she was fired from the cast....

Can't wait to see more of Spike...and hopefully Buffy will do a cameo or two....

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Imperial Digintary on Ebay!!!!
« on: September 28, 2003, 10:57 AM »
The figure looks great, but not $90 great.

I don't understand what compells people to pay 500X the price of a figure just to have it a month before everyone else.  Whatever.

Well on today's run I picked up the following:

FOTR Ring Wraith
ROTK Frodo in Armor
ROTK Sam in Armor
Helms Deep 5-Pack

and...

CROSSBOW URUK!!

I found the Uruk laying on the floor at KB, and i didnt think anything of it, until I looked down and actually saw what it was.  I didn't mind spending the extra few $$ on it since its not easy to come by...

I also saw ROTK Pellenor Aragorn, Poseable Gollum, Gandalf, Treebeard, & Eomer, but left them.  Still trying to find Prologue Bilbo...blah.  I also did the unthinkable and opened my twilight Frodo...

Fun day....

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Hoth 4-pack!
« on: September 26, 2003, 04:12 PM »
I got this today, Luke's Broken horn tauntaun, mind you.

I will probably buy the one with 2 normal horns if i see it, just so my Han can ride a tauntaun..maybe trade off the extra figures...not counting on finding it though.  I like the little astro droid in the set, and I think chewie could use some more snow in his fur....Luke is the weak point of this set but he will be replaced soon anyway...

The tauntaun should have been made of softer plastic, thats my only complaint.  I actually cut my thumb trying to jam the jelly guts inside it...

Star Wars Action Figures / Custom Silver Fett...
« on: September 26, 2003, 05:53 AM »
I know its not much of an exciting custom, but I had an extra 300th Fett from buying the Bounty Hunters set at TRU, so I decided I would make my own Loose Silver Fett...I think it turned out pretty nice, and now I need to get a real one to keep carded and display next to it  :D

I simply painted him with acrylic silver paint, which was actually formulated for painting real metal, but it works AMAZING on figures and it doesnt scratch off easy.  His cape was a greyish fabric that I painted the stripe on in dark gray, then I dipped the fabric in a mixture of the silver paint and water so it has that "sparkley" texture to it....

Thoughts??

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Root Beer
« on: September 26, 2003, 04:19 AM »
Oddly, root beer gives me the worst damn headaches one could possibly imagine.  Like clutching my head in agony headaches.  That said I prefer a glass of iced tea over this death soda...

I got all 3 for retail.  I saw alot of them the day I got mine at WM, but 3 days later when I went back and every single one of them was gone.  If you can get them for under $12, I say go for it...its a great deal, and a steal at $5.  BUT.  I will advise not to wait and get them NOW.  if this truly is a 'one shot deal" then I would get them....these could be the next 12" Plo Koon, which became a high end item awful quickly....and I would hate to see fellow collectors pay 10x the price for them...
