Well, the GH Swami (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=2441&zoneid=2) just updated his report from yesterday, and apparently some people have gotten e-mails from on online e-tailer confirming this - it appears the next in line for the "Silver Collection" of figures will be a Sandtrooper! Good choice. I like it! 8)
I was always thinking that really the only other figure this "Silver theme" would work well with would be a Stormtrooper, but a Sandtrooper would be very cool as well! Still should've been a Stormtrooper instead of a prequel Clonetrooper, but I digress... That Clonetrooper's due out real soon (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=3431;start=msg49481#msg49481) too, so be on your toes!
So, whatchya' think about the Silver Sandie?

I'm not into this whole Silver stuff at all, why not make real never before done figures instead of throwing silver paint on old ones...you would think they could sell 40,000 Yarnas or Hermi Odle's just as well

I was really into the TF Vader. As a unique limited figure, it was truly collectable. Each new "silver" promo release diminishes that appeal. Not that I won't rush out and grab me some of what they shovel at me.
Honestly, I like the idea of a freebie chase figure at retail. That's fine. I just wish it was more original in its execution. Along the lines of the Theater Edition Luke.
Now TRU had better have $20 worth of merchandise for me to pick up when the promo starts, like an Anakin Starfighter or NEW figures, because I sure ain't buying 20 bucks worth of Orn Free Taa thats sitting on their shelves at the moment...

I agree... I LOVED ToyFair Vader when I got it from the Fan Club.
It was a special Chase Piece that Limited people got at Toy Fair and then a few thousand lucky fans got one too. It was special.
Then came Silver R2. OK, I thought, it's like Vader for those that didn't get one. Even if you didn't get a Silver Vader, you could still get a special Silver Figure to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ANH. Still Cool. I've got mine displayed next to TC-14 (aka Silver C-3PO :) ).
Then, Silver Fett. Eh. Not for the 25th anniv of ESB, just for "fun". I thought Silver Fett also kind of took a little shine off the uniqueness of 300th Fett too. I figured this was the end for "silver" figures, right?
Then, Clone Trooper. Uh... OK. STOP ALREADY! This HAS to be the last one I thought...
Now, Silver Sandtrooper? WTF? Why a Sandtrooper? TO celebrate the 8th Anniversary of the time he joined the PotF2 Figures? Huh? Why not Silver STORMTROOPER first? Is anyone else wanting Silver Biker Scout, Silver Snowtrooper, etc?
Ugh. Silver Figures are played out... IMHO. Move on to the next figure gimmick, perhaps a GLOW-IN-THE-DARK Spirit of Obi-Wan or Anakin figure? Use the nifty Holo figures with some Glow paint or plastic?
Or what about Exclusive Cards for some of the figures? Like a RH Darth Vader on a "Splinter of the Mind's Eye Card"? Or maybe a GA Thrawn on an "Heir to the Empire" Style Card? Bring back some of those great EU figures people still need with cool Novel-esque Cards!
Or maybe a Cloak-of-Invisibility Yoda... OR Neon-Camo Armor Stromtrooper. Uh, wait. I think I'm straying into other toy line now.

Yep. Should've just been a Silver Stormtrooper after the Boba Fett, and then left alone - for good!
On another note, GH is saying that this is likely going to be another convention tour exclusive, like the Boba Fett was last year. I'd assume that means the Fan Club will probably have the extras later on down the line for those still in need...
On a related note, if anyone still needs a Silver R2 or Boba Fett, I've got a couple extras left over! :-*

Vader was great! The R2 I thought was a redemption for the Vader to the Fans. Boba Fett, well it was a lets see if we can do this one more time. Clone...now it is getting overdone.
At least the Sandtrooper is confirmed. I have heard a rumor earlier that the convention figure was just going to be the TRU Clone.
So I guess it will be one more figure that I will be adding to my collection.
Hopefully it will be the last silver fig.

The SW Official Site just confirmed the Silver Sandtrooper as the convention exclusive...
I like this line:
"A number of these figures will be set aside for future events, and for sale on StarWarsShop.com."
That will help for those who can't go.

Don't own any of the silver figures - never planned to get one. Maybe in the future. But no time soon, I have to be picky with this low budget of mine.

The silver Fett wasn't too bad, but I have yet to even make an attempt at getting the silver Clone Trooper, and I'm not going to try that hard for this silver Sandtrooper either.
I think it's time for Hasbro to come up with another exclusive figure... something that's not silver.

I buy all the silver figures, but i am not a huge fan. I would however love to see a Red vac-metal ROyal Guard as the next exclusive in the line of these.

I think there is some discussion of the Sandtrooper in the Clonetrooper thread but there isn't a specific thread for the Sandtrooper (that I saw)

I'm actually hoping to get this guy... I have a complete set of Silver figures right now, and I really would like to keep that going.
It's one of the only carded things I own or even want to own. I'm perplexed why a Stormtrooper wasn't done first, but whatever. Sandtroopoer's ok too.
I hope this guy's not tough to get... So far the Vader's been the only one to go that route.
As a set they look actually decent... Unique... A 3PO and Stormie wouldn't turn me off though, and a red vac-metalized (POTF2 sculpt?) Royal Guard would be neat in a way too.
I hope they don't do flesh characters though. That'd look bad methinks.

I don't care for the other silver figures either. However, I really like the Sandtrooper in the movie and as figures so far. I might consider getting this one. It's not something at the top of my list and I'll probably forget about it at some point. Too many other things to get I suppose.

Funny, I just ordered mine and it stated it was in stock and everything went through. I even got an order number/confirmation number.

Thanks to the awesome ::) tech at the SWShop.com site, sometimes the Sandy will show up Out of Stock until the enter payment phase of the order, when he suddenly shows up.
This is similar to when some people were ordering the Kermit despite the site claiming it was out of stock.

Pleased Matt picked one up for me, so I don't have to endure another nightmarish fiasco. All of the stuff I ordered showed up in incredible condition, but the hassle was a bit much.

I have HS, buttttttttttt, because the people who renewed my subscription iwth Insider suck tremendously, they can't seem to help me get a goddamn passcode for HS.
Pissin' me off to no end at this point. Especially now that I'd like to keep up on my silver figure collection, and yet they're denying me that ability. ::)

Don't feel bad if you can't order them because posts are coming in over at RS that SWS.com is sending these figures out pretty banged up and crushed. I'm still waiting to see how mine come in. Hopefully they are mint because if not they are going back. Another post I read the guy indicated that he received his and the bubbles were crushed and that the box had no packing materials. Just the figures thrown in a box. So we shall see.

Several members of TradeFed have complained of the same problem, I am waiting to order mine until they staighten this out. Really glad I got several at SDCC.

Yep, same thing coming in from a number of JD'ers too Sharon! We've just been doing our ranting and raving about SWS.com (about the Silver Sandtrooper and everything else) in the SWS.com thread (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=28;action=display;threadid=3914;start=375) over in Watto's (including some trashed Sandtrooper pictures). ;)
Same crap service from them, as always! ::)
Unfortunately, I guess the 13 Silver Sandies I snagged at SDCC was far from enough for the JD gang here. Phooey on me! Should've grabbed more... :-\

I hear ya, Matt! Glad I grabbed 10 while there myself. Many TradeFed members have gotten bad one's too.

Wow, that's the first remotely reasonable response to come out of their corner yet. Thanks for the update Sharon.
Good to see they'll refund the earlier orders, from before the "All sales final" blurb they put up. But even with a refund, those collectors are still ass-out on a MOMC Silver Sandtrooper, which sucks.

They should just go buy themselves some damned bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts, and call it a day (without passing along any extra "packaging costs" to us). Oh well. Guess an extra buck is worth it. Most people were buying them with the Starcases down at SDCC, so I guess folks won't gripe about that too much. Just silly they still don't see it as a lazy packaging job on their part...
Oh well, it's a step in the right direction by SWS.com at least. Just took several thousand complaints to finally make it happen! :P

Well, yeah, it makes sense to put them in a starcase, and I'd pay a buck or so more for that insurance it gives, but they are treating their existing situation like it's unreasonable to expect the product they sell (at a not-so-bargain-basement-price) to arrive safely, as if "shipping and handling" does not include the cost of reasonabley safe packing. If these were shipped insured via UPS or FedEx, they wouldn't honor the claim because of improper/unsafe packaging to begin with, and have the customer take it up with the shipper.
These guys are jagoffs, and now with the star case & "all sales final" stunt, apparently shady lowlifes out for a shakedown of their customers.

ya know, i wouldn't mind paying $1 more, but i got a funny feeling it's gonna be more like $3 - don't ask me why. the handling charge will now include putting your figure inside the star case. that takes time, ya know. ::)

Well I am pretty disgusted with the Star Wars Shop. They offer nothing to us for damaged merchandise. There was no disclaimer when the figure was first ordered. This is just really terrible the way everything is being handled.

Or they will use the smaller size star case 1 and not the bigger Star Case 2 to ship these new figures in. If they do that the bubbles will be smashed everytime since the first cases are too small for any of the new bubbles. I had to take some Ep1 figures out of the SC 2's I had them in to put in some Ep2/OTC figures in.
Like other have said the Hasbro thing is BS on they part most of the damage looks like it was done in packing it up and shipping it (since they didn't add in packagin materials). I"m half tempeted to cancel my outstanding orders with them because I don't trust them with packaging my stuff right.

A sigh of relief! It looks as if the fans have been heard, SWS.Com seems to be doing a little backpeddling. Those of you with damaged figures should be taken care of. I am going to place my order next week, I want to see what happens over the weekend.
