New Order 66 2 Packs?

I'd use the word 'new' very loosely when talking about these sets.   :(

True, though Tsui Choi would have to be new.

I'm down for a set of each. (With multiple purchases listed):
# Obi-Wan & ARC Trooper Commander
# Anakin & ARC Trooper (X2-3)
# Master Tsui Choi & Barc Trooper (X?? Have to see the Barc trooper first. Definitely one, but possibly more, if anything to make customs of the Jedi)
# Palpatine & Commander Vill
# Luminara Unduli & AT-RT Driver (Hmm, we'll see what the paint job here is on this one)
# Master Sev & Yellow ARC Trooper (X2-3)

I'm just not building armies now and the first set of Order 66 didn't do it for me. Since 3 of these sets have ARC's in them, there's no need to army build them as the ARC's were the elite of the elite. Not too many of them. Only need one of the Commander with Palpy. So that just leaves the Barc and AT-RT that are questionable to build. But since I've said I'm stepping back from extreme army building, I can't see myself getting any more than 5. I'm holding to one squads worth of troopers from now on, excluding the corrected Kashyyyk trooper. Flavor of the month clones just don't do it for me anymore.

Despite the repacks in this year's sets, I have to say that they were kind of neat and a decent deal (especially for those able to find them on clearance).  I'll have to "wait and see" with these packs as well, but I'd guess I'd pick up a couple of them at least (much like this year's offerings).  I'm not sure, but I thought at one point - either on a rumor list or in a Q and A - that Tsui Choi was supposed to be coming in a Comic Pack next year.  Maybe that pack will be out before these Order 66 sets, or close to it, similar to the Galactic Marine this year.  It would be nice if we'd at least see the Pilot version of Obi-Wan or the Evolutions Anakin if they are going to do repacks though.  I still wouldn't mind seeing this concept applied to other areas though (Pilots and Astromechs in particular) :P.

Jedi Master Sev and yellow ARC Trooper had me puzzled until I saw this:

I guess we'll get a kitbashed Sora Bulq for this set.

I liked the original sets, and the price wasn't even bad, they just didn't seem to go over well...  ARC's though, those tend to be more popular figures.  Perhaps with the Clone Wars toon, these will have the momentum behind them to sell well...

The Jedi choices are cool too in some of them, as they're not just ****** figures you already have and didn't even want because there's a better version out.  At least in some cases.  Perhaps even the Ani/Obi figures will use good figure bases to start with, and perhaps be changed up too in some fashion so they're interesting as well.

I'm really excited for CW this upcoming year, and this just makes me moreso really.

I think I have almost an entirely opposite outlook on these.  Of course we haven't seen pics of this wave yet, but the first wave kind of stunk.  And any time you have something Clone related that hits mass clearance, I don't see how Hasbro's doing a good job.  Getting rehashed Jedi of mostly terrible sculpts is also not something I see as a positive thing.

I'll probably pass on these except for Master Choi.  Don't need more Arc Troopers, that's for sure... don't even need the ones I have.  Not a design that I care for at all... quite possibly they are the silliest trooper design that I've seen in all of Star Wars.

These sets to me have been anything but exciting.  Maybe they'll do something surprising with these this go round, but based on the first wave, I'm not expecting much other than Master Choi.

And in more Order 66 2-pack News...

Well, read our front page. ;)  Seems like these are indeed making a comeback, in some quantity.  Whether they're the rumored ones or not, who knows, but they are returning.

I'll definitely get a few of them depending on how they look, but I'm really hoping they hit the bargain basement clearance shelf like they did before.  I think I got 10 sets for about $3 each...

I don't know if I want to go through those again, though it seems like they all have a phase one clone era theme which is appealing.

Scum in linking to new pictures (http://chinese-starwars.com/chineseforum/viewtopic.php?t=12359) of the clones from these sets. Looks like the Barc trooper is a straight repack thankfully.

Assuming, of course, this isn't a test shot of the basic 2008 figure.  The Kashyyyk Trooper in the Chinese pictures are different from those in Hasbro's official photography, but just barely-- the camo markings are similar, but the Chinese shot is missing some markings on the figure's inner thighs and a few other colors seem a little off-- that could be the camera.

The 2007 ARC with bluer blue and the 2003 ARC kama though... uh... wow.  That's awful.  I dig the yellow and the red ones though.

I'll take it, I like a straight kama or two mixed in, rather than have the kama whipping in the wind in the exact same direction on all the ARCs, like the one from the comic pack.

We needed the variety.

I've got to agree with you. The paint job is terrible. These figures make me wonder if Hasbro's figure painters have ever heard of masking tape. To me, these look like very poorly painted customs. I'm staying away from them anyway. The look too close to figures we already have.

I firmly agree that variety is nice, but this seems sort of... blech?  It seems that the yellow ARC Trooper (ajnd the red) also has a "straight" kama, but it looks like it's the one from the Evolutions EpIII Troopers (or Clone Commanders).  It seems an overall better fit with this mold, but that's just me.  I'd rather see some sort of pouches there but the one on the yellow ARC (or the red one for that matter) just seems better overall.

It's nice to see that all 3 (wow, 3) ARCs from this batch-- assuming they are what everyone claims they are, of course-- have a little bit of variety between them beyond color, but that blue one... not liking it in its current condition.

More for you guys I guess... I don't like ARC Troopers... well, not the Phase 1 version at least.  The helmet looks so childish to me.  Like something a 5 year old though of - let's take Jango's antenna and put it on a clone, now we have a new trooper... to me that's just boring.

But, the Elite Corpse is a nice surprise if it's in the Order 66 sets... how about a Clone Engineer from the Battlefront pack in the mix?  I love that figure.

He had an EpIII-style helmet in, I believe, Obsession during the battle of Boz Pity.  But don't quote me on that, I didn't check yet.  I don't recall ever seeing him in an Airborne helmet.
Title: Re: 2008 Order 66 packs?
Post by: Jesse James on December 27, 2007, 01:34 AM
I'm pretty happy with these overall...  ARC's are what they are, and while I do think design elements are clearly borrowed, the "range finder" antenna from Fett's helmet makes some sense due to their jobs, plus due to their growth patterns and training.  They are, essentially, little Jango's in every way running around with little altering to them.  I like that myself...

I like the kamas more straight myself, however I have to agree with Adam about the pouches.  I really would've liked to have seen a Kama released that had two working holsters for a larger, "Alpha" style set of pistols, as that would've worked better with really almost all of these ARC Troopers.

They're cool though, I'm happy...  I just hope the Jedi they're teamed with are a notch better than last time is all.  $10's nice for two figures, but when one isn't anything you'd want more than one of, or even want one of, that's sometimes a tougher pill to swallow.

The last sets were such gravy for Hasbro though, and I'd say Target as well, that they're willing to go for another ride on the Order 66 train.  I didn't really count on that at all.

I think that's where I saw it too... in a comic, where there were bones lying around the planet of some sort of giants... I believe Alpha gets shot in that story?

I think it's all about the helmet for me... I really don't mind too much of the rest of the design of the ARC Trooper, at least not from an equipment standpoint; though it all does seem a bit cumbersome... and I like the AOTC helmet on regular clones, but not with the additions that ARCs have... I suppose I'm just being picky.  But I think they could have easily come up with a better design for their helmets - maybe something more like this -

Agree.
Another cam AT-RT driver? C'mon Hasbro you can do better than that. The Arcs are cool but I like the original ripped up comic pack skirt than the crusty old ones they are putting on them. The CW & Bacura skirts are really lame and the CW is ripped up anyway so why not just leave it be. I hate when Hasbro makes minor changes where it's not needed and does not make it where needed (Evo Palps skin color)
Regardless of the bitching these sets will be cool and a great value. I will pick up a couple extra of the Blue & Yellow Arcs but I want to know where is the Green Arc. I want my Arc skittles set complete.

There's a planogram listed over at the RS forums that mentions some 2-packs.  And that listing assigns 2 pegs to those 2-packs.  It makes me think that the packaging for these 2-packs may have changed.

Yeah, that "Figure 2-Pack" DPCI turned up back in October (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1191895077,75654,)...

087-06-0672 Star Wars 2-Pack Figure Assortment $5.99

No one still seems to know what exactly it is... there were rumors of it being 2-packs of the Mini-Unleashed or a new DPCI for the GH figures, but nothing has been confirmed yet I guess.  Definitely not the Order 66 sets though.
Title: Re: 2008 Order 66 packs?
Post by: Jesse James on December 28, 2007, 02:21 PM
Yeah, when we reported that the price was what was sticking with everyone on that 2-pack...  At $6, it's tough to imagine it's basic figures.  I'm more inclined to imagine it's a GH 2-pack or something along those lines.

The first O66 sets were $10, which is cheap in itself...  The "new" O66 pack listing is still $10, so I have no doubt they're completely different.  Just typical scum forum overreaction I suppose.

Oh!  I think I have this one solved.

This should be the new entry for basic, non-exclusive Galactic Heroes 2-packs-- they're supposedly getting a new SKU in 2008 (eventually) just like the basic figures and a bunch of other stuff.  I'd stake someone's reputation on it-- not mine, but someone else's, sure.

Sometimes Hasbro refreshes the same SKU with a new number to clear out the old inventory easier-- it used to happen pretty much every year, and Galactic Heroes have been Asst. 85208 since 2004.   So there ya go!  Boring answer to what could've been an otherwise exciting mystery.

We stopped by our local Super Target this afternoon, which had already done somewhat of a reset of their action figure aisle.  They did have the keychain two packs on the pegs for $5.99 each.  From what I remember, they had Qui-Gon/Maul, Leia/R2, and Vader/Fett packs on the pegs.  They also had bobbleheads and the Mighty Muggz, as well as the new Joe comic packs.  Action figure pegs were nothing but legends clones, scouts, and Sandtroopers - who would think we'd ever see that?

I will get two sets at regular price. One to keep MIB and the second to open.

The rest I will pick up on clearance. I'm at the point now with my collecting that if I am unable to score some of them at clearance so I can build squads of the clones then I won't sweat it. Besides, it looks like the most I would want of any of these sets would be a second one to open of all of the ARCs and Commander Vill. I might get three additional openers of the AT-RT and BARC Trooper sets, but again, that's only if I come across them once the clearance prices are set.

For the 2007 ones, I got five of the Kashyyyk Trooper, Utapau AT-RT Driver, Galactic Marine and 501st Airborne Trooper sets and three each of the other two sets all at regular price during the first few days of them hitting. I expected the sets to be (a) limited and (b) highly sought after. Unfortunately for me, neither was the case.

The Luminara/AT-RT Driver and Anakin/Blue ARC sets are a big pass for me.  The use of the 2003 kama on the blue ARC, as Adam said, just looks horrible and it's easier to just get a few more of the comic pack ARCs instead.  This camouflage stuff is getting almost as ridiculous as the Skittles Jedi Starfighters.

I'll definitely be picking up the other four sets, though, although I have to wonder what they're going to repack for Obi-Wan and Palpatine.  I would assume that Hasbro is going to go the cheap route and slap the 2005 ROTS Palpatine (number 12, I think) in that set, but with the "ARC Commander" (or "Here's your 'toon accurate Fordo") being in Phase I armor, I would guess Obi-Wan, logically speaking, would need to be an AOTC era version.

Then again, this is Hasbro we're talking about, so logic has no place in how things are done. :)

Looking at Luminara's skirt, it seems to me they just grabbed the Tusken Raider VTSC skirt and put it on her-- it's a different material and texture, and it seems to me that they probably just wanted to cover the legs with *something*.   But hey, who knows, we've seen odder final products.

Did you scan the keychains to see if they shared the DPCI that was listed above?  I'm quite curious.   (Not sure if they'd have the 087 06 prefix, but they might...)

They should have the same prefix...  I need to get to a Target when I have some time to run some of the numbers through.  In particular I'm curious about the AT-TE too...  I'm guessing the mystery 2-pack is the keychains though.

The Luminara figure is really outstanding though...  I was hoping we'd get her back in the lineup somehow because she was one that went fairly fast here in '05.  I am anxious to see more from the sets (Especially the Jedi at this point) hopefully in the near future...  They seem, so far, to be a little improved over the original sets.

I scanned them this morning. The keychains are in fact 087-06-0672. Mystery solved.

As per our front page...  New high-res shot of the blue ARC from the upcoming O66 sets...  Nifty.

I like it for army building purposes, plus I'm hoping it has a decent Jedi with it.  That'd be ideal...  I'm wondering if these sets will have any legs to them compared to the first sets?  Those did ok at first, then that onslaught of them just sat.

Not that I minded totally as I got a nice little army of some of them going. ;)

As with the last ones, if people get them cheap and want the Jedi and not the Clone, hit me up...  I'll take the army builders for cheapy cheap.

Strange that they just didn't do a straight repack of the ARC from the Comic Pack.

They switch back to the original ARC (2003) kama sculpt  :-\

From those other pics we saw, it looked like each one had a different Kama:

I thought I read someone say the yellow is from Bacarra and the red is from the #33 sculpt or something like that?

The gun is from Battlefront pack I think...

On the Kamas, they're definitely different.  The Yellow is Bacara's for sure, the red's the #33 Commander for sure, and the blue seems to be the CW ARC Kama...  I like the mix myself, but I'd prefer cloth to be honest.

Wow, so we've now seen 7 of the 12 figures.  Thought I'd put together a little summary on "what we know" at this point -

Rumored Set #1 - Obi-Wan & ARC Trooper Commander:
? and  (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/tn_O66_ARCred.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/O66_ARCred.jpg)

Rumored Set #2 - Anakin & ARC Trooper:

Rumored Set #3 - Master Tsui Choi & BARC Trooper:
? and  (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/tn_O66_BARC.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/O66_BARC.jpg)

Rumored Set #4 - Palpatine & Commander Vill:
? and  (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/tn_O66_vill.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/O66_vill.jpg)

Rumored Set #5 - Luminara Unduli & AT-RT Driver:
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/tn_O66_unduli.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/O66_unduli.jpg) and (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/tn_O66_ATRT.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/O66_ATRT.jpg)

Rumored Set #6 - Master Sev & Yellow ARC Trooper:
? and (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/tn_O66_ARCyellow.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/image.pl?http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/O66_ARCyellow.jpg)

Sure is hard to still call it a "rumor" at this point, but I'll go ahead and humor Hasbro on that one.  ;)

Also still seems weird to me that 1/2 the packs have ARCs in them, but I guess with the "Clone Wars" mania and the rumored CW theme for Wave 3, I guess it makes sense the more I think about it...
Title: Re: 2008 Order 66 packs?

I really hope Hasbro offers the Battlefront II gun in that pack. Now all they need to do is repack or bring out the Clone Engineer, Heavy Trooper's Rocket Launcher, and Jet Trooper's EMP launcher and Jet pack out in some other forms, just like this and I'll be happy. I don't really want to buy the Battlefront sets do to all the crappy stuff in them just for a few new or cool items.

If the Kamas are different, that is cool. Now they need to bring on the Jedi for these packs. I really want to see something new.

Is that an AOTC (Coruscant chase?) Obi-Wan packed in there? :o  Weren't the clones predominantly white at that time, with only colors for rankings and no Kama or pauldrons?  I guess it could ostensibly be a Clone Wars Obi of some sort.

The ARC's were around at the time of the Clone Wars onset I think...  They're just Commando type guys is all, and their colors also indicate rank like the regular schmoes.

Good grief, is that a POTF2 Weequay head?

As for the ARCs, yeah they were around but were unpredictable enough that the Kaminoans kept them in stasis until needed. They were first decanted at the First Battle of Kamino two months after Geonosis and remained active thru the rest of the war.

That's what I was thinking as well, at first glance.  At the time, I thought that figure was the best Obi-Wan we had from AOTC, but it would still be nice to see an all-new version along the lines of the ROTS Pilot figure.

The body for Sev is Kit Fisto, ROTS, no?

The dreds on the POTF2 weren't separate sculpts, so while they were maybe cobbled onto a Sora Bulq head (irony is that this Weequay Jedi is more articulated than any of the film ones, hah), the head itself may be a whole new tooling for it to "work".  Simply based on previous sculpts is all...  Basically a kitbash that is actually newly molded for it to be produced.

It could be that just the dreds got a new mold too though, and are made specifically to fit the Sora head which has a mold.  Either way, if this is the kind of Jedi we're getting, that's vastly superior to the first series O66 sets...  I'll take these all year long. ;)

I am looking forward to Sev for custom fodder. It's nice to have the Kit body molded in other colors. I have made too many customs with that body. I agree Jess a much better showing than the first 66's. Now we have 3 figures more to be revealed......this should be good.

By the way the Kenobi shown is the Nightclub version which was not a bad figure. Thats not the chase Obi-Wan.

Yikes that Weequay Jedi looks bad.  I'm all for kitbashing figures from existing parts, but that color scheme makes my eyes want to vomit.  His facial expression looks like he just saw himself in the mirror and said "What the ****?"   :o

Well, there go my hopes of Hasbro packing in decent Jedi figures with these.  I guess now we'll get the ROTS Anakin with the AOTC Tusken Ambush Anakin head slapped on, a new Ratts Tyrell head on a Yoda body, and the 1997 POTF2 Palpatine figure painted red.   Oh well, at least the Clones look nice (for the most part).

Sev's head looks to be new a head, even if it's sculpted on the old POTF2 Weequay. I'm not to keen on the color of him, but the Kit body is cool. With that head you could make some better Skiff Guard to boot.

The Obi-Wan is a give, as I didn't think Hasbro would include a good version of him. We can only hope that those pictures are test shots and not what we will see. Looks to my like an old Saga version maybe the Coruscant chase kit bash of some sort :'(.

The Sev figure doesn't look too bad. The colors are kinda jarring but I'm okay with them trying a different color scheme for this body. If they have a new head, that already sets this figure apart from the throw-away Jedi figures we got last year.

The Obi-Wan definitely looks like the Outlander Nightclub Version. This confuses me actually. I figured that they would just take the ROTS Obi-Wan figure and slap on the head from the Comic 2-pack.

I'm kinda hoping that the Anakin will be a solid version of the ghost figure, just to make things different.

With how many times they are releasing the same ARC figure as part of these sets, I'm hoping that the Tsui Choi is a completely new figure. That would be the least they could do.

The biggest tell on that figure mold would be the boots.  I can't see the one that's exposed clearly enough to tell from this image.  The CW figure's boots go up a bit higher, like there's some kind of knee padding.

This Obi-Wan definitely has different paint apps than the Clone Wars figure.  The under-tunic on this one is brown, whereas the CW version is a light tan/white.

I wonder if that Evo palps will have the lightning hands. I doubt it but I am really stoked they fixed the flesh tone. I wonder what Anakin they will use, it will be from the AOTC era. I will guess.....Secret Ceremony Anakin. They have not repacked that one for awhile. If its the Evo one that would be awesome.

Sort of... last year was the RotS #33 sculpt (with the visor), this time it's the RotS Evo sculpt (removable helmet).  Similar, but different.

I like what I've seen so far.  The Jedi are definitely a step up from last year and at least a few of the clones are more than just simple repaints.  :)

Also so anyone know when these sets are going to hit?  if they are to go aloneside Clone Wars in the Fall.  isn't a little early to have seen package samples already when we haven't even seen or "offically heard" anything past wave 2. Or are these going to hit with the supposed clone wars wave 3 somethime around Easter.

Considering that neither Hasbro nor Target have yet "officially" confirmed these, I don't think anyone has a firm idea of when they will hit.

There were rumors a while back that they would show up on endcaps for Easter again (just like last year's sets), but those are just rumors for now...

Are we still at the "rumor" stage?   ;)

Sad to say, but I like the completed packs I've seen thus far.  I never minded the Clone Wars series and the figures were fine.  My initial revulsion at Obi was because he looked to be from Saga/AOTC.  If it's been kit-bashed or modified to fit better in CW, I'm ok with that and the ARCs make sense.  That pale, angry Palps is kinda neat too.  I'm guessing I'm in for a set but oddly more for the non-clone figures this time.

These are going to be a real pain in the Nerfherders to get. I hate exclusives & early morning runs at Target because they do not open their doors until 8, making me 15-20 minutes late for work. After several empty runs it gets old.....at least there are DCPI numbers. That was the salvation at Target for me this year, I really hate shopping there anymore.

I wounder how articulate Tsui Choi is? Great looking figure. These will not hang around. I wonder if we'll see him carded down the road too. I hope when these sets hit they will still be the $10 price range and not the jacked up price Target has been doing on there exclusives lately. If there are I could see myself picking up a few of each.

I like them all...  Perhaps I'm easily entertained, but I'm digging them.

Master Choi looks outstanding.  I'm curious what the base figure is, as I'll be quite surprised if it's all-new in sculpt.  I'm thinking it could be anything from a McQuarrie Concept Yoda figure as the base, to something older...  VOTC Yoda seems too small to work, so I'm not betting on that.  If it's all-new, I'm amazed.

Obi-Wan's base is ok...  Better than last year's, but still a lacking figure in some ways.  I'll take another for fodder though happily.

The Clones though are outstanding.  I wish we'd gotten some of the weapons from Battlefront other than that one gun, but really I think all the ARC Troopers look nice and flesh out that niche of trooper quite well.  I'll be army building these hopefully...  I really would like a handful of the Yellow BARC Trooper, and I'll take the repaint Kashyyyk Trooper and such.

I liked last year's sets, even at full price for the most part, and on clearance they were a steal...  These ones are really a value at full price IMO.  If prices remain the same of course! ;)  I sort of hate saying it, but I'd really like it if these again saw massive clearance glut, and that people unloaded Clones my way
***cough***Shameless Plea***cough*** because I'd simply love multiples of all the Clones and only 2 of each Jedi at this point.

IE: I'd love to see some Jedi find a good home for half the set's cost. ;)

Well the interesting thing about these 2 packs is that I have learned there are quite a few Tsui Choi fans on the boards.  I never knew he was that popular.  He is a cool looking little critter though.

I guess it is pretty safe to say we will be seeing a Ratts Tyerell in the near future.  Had to believe we would have a new great sculpt in repack/kitbashed exclusives.    And I think Sev's head is really recycled from Ak-Rev.  Late Hasbro has been keen on recycling there figures before and close to the intended figure is released.  We saw the air borne trooper in Mace windo's battle pack before the carded.  And how many galactic Marine flavors did we get this year? not to mention the arc in these packs in the mondo pack.  Shan & Maris.   Not that this is a bad thing.

I can see Target charging $12 this time round. I really like the sets too, I cannot wait to see the improved Luminara, Anakin & Sev in final packages. The Darker colors look more accurate on Lum, more like the original AOTC figure. Choi, Sev and Palps are really welcome additions even the Arcs are cool. I do not care for the AT-RT driver so I will have several up fo' trade. Superb custom fodder in these sets, I will be buying multiples of each for that alone.

Choi is 100% new, Hasbro would not just tool up arms and a head for such a small figure. I am sure he is all new, I am also sure due to his size he was cheap to tool up.

ctonra, good call on the Ak-Rev head.

Sorry fellas I'm of a different mindset here on these. Master Sev looks like master butt! Wow does that figure stink. I normally like cloth robes, but this looks hideous. And I'm totally convinced of only getting one Luminara set now and definitely on clearance. If I miss her, oh well, I won't lose sleep over it. The Anakin set actually looks okay. I'll still wait for it to clearance, but I'll pick it up over the Sev or Luminara set.

Sorry I have to disagree with previous posts/opinions.

For $10 a pack I am very happy with these. If you consider that an average basic figures runs $7.00 this is great for the money. I respect your dislike for these but I think overall these beat the average collectors expectations when compared to the last ones.

I will gladly take Master Sev over Slashing Obi, Ape arm Mace, Slashing Anakin, Spinning Yoda & Salt shaker Palps any day.

That Anakin is cool looking and Sev could use the water treatment, but overall I'm liking these 6 sets more than the first wave. Only figure that looks to be lacking is the Obi-Wan, which is above par for Hasbro. Now all that is left is the price point. If they're still $10, I'm in for many. If they bump up the price then my limit is 2 of each (except Obi-Wan pack).

Brent, I'm REALLY hoping you're wrong. ;)  That thought crossed my mind, but the hands are clearly different...  The height matches though, but it also matches McQuarrie Yoda, who features a similar build and Jedi robe-ish sculpting.  I'd be ok with that, or an all-new sculpt, I'm just hoping for the best at this point though.  It's a cool looking little dude.

And I was just running with the smart ass angle anyway, I didn't even really consider it as a possibility though.  My mind just ran through short figures that Hasbro has not made a significant return on the mold of the figure and Watto came to mind as a figure that hasn't had much of a use pattern, so they might try and find a use for it.

Thanks but I should be fine.  My MN friends are always most helpful.  Plus with Hasbro stuff I tend to have a lot more patience.  I managed to get a set of six off ebay for $30 last go round.  Not quite $2.50 clearance price but still below regular retail by a fair bit.

My whole Hasbro interest is dwindling period.  I'm trying to keep the interest up and keep up with everything going on, but combine the glut of product, a lack of it in Canada and the accompanying frustration and it wanes.  That works for the best because ultimately modern stuff in a loose collection is next to worthless.  I just have to wait for it to reach that point.  ;)

Actually, that's a good time to pick, since a lot of people will know the amount of their tax return by that date.  A lot of industries see a spike in sales around this time, so makes sense to advertise/release your new prods in conjunction with tax returns.  ;)

Since Targets have started resetting with their exclusives on an end cap, I would hazard a guess that as product sells that they can't replace (GH sets, TFU BP, AS JSF) they will start filling the empty space on the end cap with these. You know they don't like empty shelf space, and I think the endcap is designated toys at least, if not star wars specifically.

That's what I'm guessing. I know I'll get one though. I'm not at all excited for the 3 ARC troopers, but again will get one of each. It's those yellow Neyo troopers I'm looking forward to. I'll get a squad of 5 or those guys. I forget who the sixth one is though.
Title: Re: 2008 Target Order 66 2-Packs
Post by: Pete_Fett on March 24, 2008, 12:19 PM
I think this time around, here's what my break-down will be:

3x Obi-Wan & ARC Trooper Commander
3x Anakin & ARC Trooper
5x Master Tsui Choi & Barc Trooper
3x Palpatine & Commander Vill
3x Luminara Unduli & AT-RT Driver
3x Master Sev & Yellow ARC Trooper

With one of each set being set aside to keep MIB. So it's going to cost me roughly $200 to get everything I need for this round of Order 66.

For the 2007 sets, here was my break-down:

3x Emperor and Commander Thire
5x Mace Windu and Galactic Marine
3x Darth Vader and Commander Bow
5x Anakin Skywalker and Airborne Trooper
5x Obi-Wan Kenobi and Utapau AT-RT Driver
7x Yoda and Kashyyyk Trooper

Which was 28 sets in total. So while I do like the sets this year much better than I did in 2007, I'm actually going to be purchasing LESS this year.

I don't know, the AT-RT Driver might be my favorite of the bunch. Definitely more badass looking than the ROTS figure. I cannot wait until these sets come out, as I plan to pick up a full set and make a nice squad of commando type troopers. Hasbro really hit the nail on the head with this round, while I believe last year's bunch really suckered in a lot of suckers (including myself, to be honest)

I don't know what my breakdown is going to be this time around. Last time I was able to go nuts on the army builders because of clearance. This time, I'm going to try to hold to one each regardless, but could pick up multiple At-Rt drivers or Barc troopers.
Title: Re: 2008 Target Order 66 2-Packs
Post by: jedi_master_sal on March 25, 2008, 01:10 PM
Here's what I'll get from this wave (albeit I'll be waiting for clearances):

1x Obi-Wan & ARC Trooper Commander
1x Anakin & ARC Trooper
5-6x Master Tsui Choi & Barc Trooper (all but 2 of the Master Tsui Choi's I'll have will be up for sale/trade when I get these. Cost will be half what I paid, plus exact shipping to you. A deal if you ask me, since he is a new figure.)
2-3x Palpatine & Commander Vill
2x Luminara Unduli & AT-RT Driver (The extra Luminara will be up for sale/trade. Cost will be half what I paid, plus exact shipping to you. A deal if you ask me, since he is a new figure.)
1x Master Sev & Yellow ARC Trooper

I may buy one of the Master Choi and one of the Palpatine sets at full price, so I have it in case it becomes HTF. The others (especially the ARCs) I don't have a strong desire to own. Not at full retail anyway.

The O66 sets have a date they're to be put out, and I think they're just getting distributed from the warehouses now and will get put out then...  Not like basic crap without a set date, that flows West to East...

And yes, I can take the blame.  I'm a double knot spy working for Rebelscum now and reporting my finds to them.  Tis I who bought O66 in Pittsburgh...  I feel shame.

Actually, they're here but I've not tried getting them pulled.  Just checked like I usually do, and they are indeed here.  They're probably at your Target stores too, just not out.

Considering that there isn't a new wave of figures coming out every month it's easier to pick up these exclusives. Plus I think most of them that are buying alot of them are going to try to get them on clearance. You must be on a strict budget.

Right on both accounts Rob. The lack of new figures help and the possibility that they'll go on clearance is a big incentive as well. I picked up two sets of the last series and a bunch of army builders for either $2.50 and $5.00.

It's more of a self imposed budget than anything. I'm really close to having a mortgage burning party and every little penny gets me there a little sooner. After that I am completely debt free.  ;D  Besides, there is a lack of display space around the house due to the kids taking over everything.

A mortgage burning party? Does that mean your house is almost paid off? If so, that is spectacular!! Awesome!

Anyways, I will only be getting three of this years sets, the ones with Tsui Choi, Luminara, and Master Sev. Dont need the others. Clearance doesnt seem to work for me because I always seem to miss them.

You are correct. All I would have to pay is property taxes each year which are very low for me. Its getting to be time to rent the house and buy a second. Then the toys can come back out.

I don't know if I'd count on seeing these hit clearance. One would hope Hasbro would be a bit smarter this time around and not ship out craptons of these like they did with the first series. Of course, Hasbro doesn't always learn from their mistakes so we may well experience a replay ... just saying that you should be aware you're taking a gamble by waiting.

I think the fact they're doing a second series means Target was pretty pleased with them, even with the clearances...  I think ultimately we'll see as many of these as the last ones.  I've "heard" through the grapevine local Targets are loaded with them in the back...

I hope so because, damn that was fun last year buying up what you could of them. :)

I'm going to take the gamble on the ARC and AT-RT sets. I'll just buy the Palpatine and Choi sets at full retail. The others are Meh to me and I only want dupes on the Choi set, which I'll gamble and wait on as well for the extras.

And better yet, if they DO go on clearance it will be an excellent time to use those Target coupons. Save $5 on $25. If these go to $2.50 again, then that would end up being 10 sets for $20 after the use of the coupon. Now THAT is a deal I'm looking forward to and won't mind the extra craptacular reissue figures with the newer clones.

Well the Target I picked mine up had 48 in the back. Not my normal target however, they had 0 and didnt seem to think they would be getting any. I also called a third target in the area and they didnt have any either.

I picked up a set of these yesterday and cracked them open today.

Once I had them open, I was really glad that the Jedi are so much better then the last time.  It's obvious that Hasbro tried a little harder on these sets - getting the extra efforts on the new figures and quality repaints is much cooler than straight up repacks we got last year.

Quick impressions:
- Master Choi & BARC are a nice addition to Koffi/Bultar Purge set.
- Sev is a great figure even if he is just a repainted RotS Kit Fisto with new head.
- The kama variations on the ARCs is a nice touch - makes them all unique despite using the same base figure.
- Anakin is a very nifty re-use of the Tattooed Anakin body and soft goods.

Also cool in these sets is the fact that a couple of the Jedi (Obi, Choi) have wires in the bottoms of the robes so that you can "pose" the fabric.  Very cool little "extra" that I wasn't expecting to see.  :)

Post by: Pete_Fett on March 30, 2008, 08:05 PM
I agree with Jeff - Hasbro really put some extra effort this time around as opposed to just cranking out some repaints.

With the three ARC troopers, they aren't just repaints of the Comic 2-pack Alpha - sure they use some of his common parts put they mixed up the kamas like Jeff said and the body of the yellow ARC that comes with Master Sev is actually the Evolutions ROTS Clone.

The Tsui Choi figure is great. I'm not sure if any of his parts are recycled from say a Yoda figure, but it doesn't matter since the figure is so sharp. The BARC Trooper is great and thanks to the SA body, can hold the heavy chain-like gun well.

I am extremely pleased with the soft-goods addition to the Anakin figure - it makes for a REALLY sharp figure. Goes to show how solid the Nelvaan Anakin figure is. Nothing overly special about the Palpatine except for the fact that he's now got the deathly gray skin-tone that he sported in ROTJ.

I think the wires at the bottom of the cloaks was something interesting for them to try. Not to pleased with the Obi-Wan figure, but the cloak is kinda cool.

I think out of all 12 figures, the only ones I'm kinda feeling ho-hum on are the Obi-Wan and Luminara. The rest are great additions to the collection.

I have now found two years running, getting a complete set (or in my case three complete sets plus some extras) before the "set date" is a fun challenge. So if they keep raising the bar on these and keeping the price $9.99, I would welcome a third series next year, but instead of Order 66, I could see Target getting their own wave of Droid Factory instead.

I thought someone specifically asked for the wires in the robes in a Q&A once?  That's cool if that's the case and Hasbro ran with it.

In short, the elbow situation is unfortunate.

I think the articulation on Tsui Choi is just fine. There really is no need to put an elbow joint in there considering how short his arms are to begin with.

Awesome like I'd said I'd hoped for elbow articulation, but I hadn't realized he was THAT much smaller then a Jawa.  But then again Dagobah Yoda at least had swivel elbows which work quite well especially for his size.  I had hoped to maybe customizing a few of him into younglings, but from the look of him from behind they would probabaly look like they're wearing diapers still.  :P

If anyone is interested I picked up a case of order 66 at Target today. On the side of the box it is actually numbered 1476 of 5600.

There are 12 tubes per case which equals 67,200 pcs for the total US production run. Breaking the numbers down further divide that by 6 and you have an exact production run of 11,200 per set. Hasbro would not release exact quantities but some simple Math gives us a clue of what was produced.

Thinking about this nationally that does not seem like a lot. So I am not sure the chances of seeing these at clearance as much as before.....those who wait may be sorry. Target has about 1500 stores in the US so the average store will only get 3-4 cases each (36-48pcs per store!)

I bought a total of 18 today myself & I plan on buying more too! So to those bargain hunters out there, think about waiting, it could be another UBP situation where its few and far between of seeing them on clearance.

One thing to remember is that 5600 case number is the number of cartons ordered on that particular Purchase Order.  So, while Target only ordered 5600 cases on PO#0087-6908306, it is entirely possibly that they could have ordered more for a second "refresh" shipment on a separate purchase order...

Maybe 5600 cartons is all they will get... or maybe 5600 cartons is just the number for the first shipment is all.

I used the number to get a case out today, but I didn't have much cash with me so I only bought the two sets I was most looking forward to. I'm REALLY impressed.

Tsui Choi & BARC Trooper--I think Tsui Choi just might be up there with my few favorite figures. She's just super unique and cool, not to mention that face is perfect. She has just enough articulation to be fun to play around with, and the feature on the cloak is actually really neat. Overall Tsui was a pleasant surprise and I'm really happy with her. And the BARC Trooper is really neat too, definitely one of my favorite clone figures. This set is a great value and I can see myself getting at least three more.

Emperor Palpatine & Commander Vill--I never liked how the Evolutions skin looked so I passed, even though I really wanted a super-articulated Palpatine. This re-release makes me glad I waited. It's a great figure. My only complaints are the 'stuck taking a crap' face (which I'm kinda okay with because it really looks like one of those faces he was making when he fought Yoda) and the crappy robe. Commander Vill is cool too, a very decent clone repaint. Again, great value.

The only other stuff I really want are the Sev set and Fordo, but I'm glad I got these two sets for now.

It could very well be, however Target was the biggest loser in the overall toy category last year. They are being more guarded about overstocking. Trust me I want to see these on clearance eventually, they are great custom fodder! I just wanted to give the heads up just in case this is it.

I checked our local store, but no sign of Order 66 there yet.  Hopefully they are still on the way, and won't be a tough find.  I'm pretty excited about this year's sets, and plan on getting most of them (maybe skipping the Luminara set, unless on clearance).  I'll grab the rest at full price though, and then see what happens with clearances.  For those who have them - how do you like the new paintjob on Palpy?  It seems to look decent from what I've read/seen online.  It would be nice if it could be used as a ROTJ Palps, but the extreme face probably keeps that from happening a bit.

I went back to my Target today and they had no more Order 66 figures in stock. They received 3 case in total yesterday according to the DCPI#. so not sure if/when they will get more in. I am sure they will but you never know.

On another DCPI# note, they did have the new Joe vehicles in the back, which they were going to pull for me until I was thwarted by an old handbag and a lying sow. I finally experienced what so many other members have in regards to Target's underlings treating us like crap. >:(
Some old whore who worked there(non-management) saw me use the scanner to check for the exclusive items. She stopped the reluctant girl that was going to help me and get the stuff. The crone whispered some sweet nothings into that liar's ear.  I had a bad feeling because I was able to pick up what she told the reluctant girl to do - not get it for me and that others have asked about them. >:( >:( The girl went into the back to pretend to look. I followed her and watched her. Seeing through the back room door windows I could see her leaning against the wall to wait and pretend that she looked. She then came out and gave me 2 straight out lies that contradicted what she was saying and actually did. This fat sow lied to me straight face and gave me run around excuses that oozed from her bloated face. >:( >:( >:( She could have told me the truth, I would have at least referred to her as a subhuman and not an animal but I digress. I find it insane that I am not allowed to spend my money, If I had more time I would have went around her to customer service but my lunch break was over.

I was so pissed that these pathetic low paid underlings denied my business. I am sick of dealing/competing with the Hot Wheels losers who are buying the exclusives. I already had to deal with that yesterday as one of them leeched of my DCPI work. I will return later tonight and get the **** from someone else.

Sorry had to vent about this......

Vent away, JACKOFTRADZE!

I abhor Target and their attitude towards collectors. Hell, we have the money, it's not like we are stealing this crap. If there is a street date, why? No reason to have a date for this crap. It's not movie or clone wars related. Hell do they even consider they might actually sell MORE of this stuff??

No, instead they are content to hold out and then later have to put this stuff on clearance.

What really pisses me off though is the attitude from many of the workers. Christ it's a TOY for gawd sakes. Bring the crap out. Most of us who are asking for this stuff can't be there at 8am when the scalpers are there. I always have to bring that up to them. I can ONLY make it after 6pm M-F. If they dont help me now, they lose the sale now. If it's non-exclusive stuff, I tell them that they'll lose the sale completely to another store. I also make it a point to say that I'm not just a "collector" but a consumer and customer. I by clothes, DVDs, food, etc there at their store. SO why jeopardize the loss of all of my business for but a few toys. Again, I'm there physically in the store with funds to spend. Easier just to bring the stuff out and make a customer HAPPY, than to waste the customer's time and theirs.

I even pointed that out to a manager who was being defiant. It took me 45 minutes to convince that jerk to pull figures from the back after having spoken with a floor worker and two customer service people. So I explained that had the first person helped me in the first place, that I would have been in and out of their store in 15 minutes and only had to ask one person for less than 5 minutes of help, instead of wasting an extra 30 minutes of my time AND theirs. I further stated that the money lost on productivity from them not helping me in the first place adds up. Not counting the first person, there were the 2 customer service people then this manager. Thirty minutes time of each was wasted. Consider their wages, wouldn't it have just been cheaper to help me out in the first place AND be able to help more customers or at the least make themselves available for customers? He didn't seem pleased with that explanation, but ultimately had to concede that point.

It's not like I went into the store looking for trouble, nor did I look to put anyone in their place. I just wanted some toys (damnit-lol).

I also don't like the inconsistency. Some stores WILL help, others won't and still others it just depends on who you talk to. Either it's one way or another. No BS and no excuses.

Really Target could fall off the face of the earth and I wouldn't worry about it for a second. The only thing I've enjoyed from time to time is their clearances. Otherwise (other than their exclusives), I can buy anything else they have at any number of other stores.

At least we have an opportunity at Target to get them to pull stuff from the back.  Granted it can be rough some times to get the employees to do so, but we don't have the "luxury" of this option at TRU and WM.  The only response I get out of them is what's out is all we have.

I found something of a remedy for the "crappy robe".  It seems like the best way to make the robe look better is to lose the cloak clasp that's around the neck.  You'll need to pop the head off to do that.  I then put the clasp around Palpatine's neck, but without the hood running through it.  That was leading the hood to look stretched and it didn't look right.  The way I've set it up, the hood seems to sit a bit more naturally.

Gotta side with Mikey on this.  It is frustrating when Red Shirts won't help you out - after all, you're essentially going out of your way to ask them for an opportunity to take your money.  But having the stockroom checkers every few aisles and at least potential for someone to check the backroom for you is light years beyond whatever Wal-Mart or TRU will do for you.

I actually attempted to use the DCPI at my local Target earlier and almost came out with a full set of the four I wanted, only to be thwarted at the final lap.  I went to the CS desk, asked the woman working the counter politely if she could check the DCPI and she did, finding that they had some in the back.  She radioed the back and asked the stock person to bring the case out so I could get what I wanted, and I set off for the stockroom door to meet him.

When I met the guy, he opened the case and handed me a set at random (Sev/Yellow ARC) and started to close it back up, saying that Target policy said that you could not give any specific items and that one was all he could "give" me.  He then said if I wanted to follow him back to the toy section, he would put the rest out and I could take whatever I wanted.  So, I thanked him and followed him back.

When we get to the SW aisle (which, coincidentally is half-empty and hasn't been restocked in over two weeks with anything), he asks "where did you see these at?" (as in "Where on the shelf would these go?"), and then he scans a UPC on the bottom of one with his gun thing, and says, "Oh, these aren't supposed to be set until next week.  Sorry."  At this point, he closes the case back, but says he'll "let" me keep the one set he gave me but he can't let me buy anymore.  I thanked him for his effort and paid for the Sev/ARC set and left.

Now, while I appreciate him "letting" me buy one of the sets, I have to say I'm a little irritated by the entire process I had to go through for the "privilege" of buying merchandise there.  As I've said before a million times, I was always under the impression that you wanted stock, you know, on the shelves for people to buy it rather than keep it locked away in a room until some arbitrary date assigned to aisle resets.  It felt like I was being expected to feel honored for being allowed to actually spend money there, and that bugs me.

I fully recognize the irony of me complaining given the fact that I actually did get one of the sets and there are far more important things to complain about than being able to buy a toy that a store didn't want to sell me until next weekend, but despite it all, this seems to be yet another case of Target acting very strangely toward their customers.

Checked Alhambra Target, still no Order 66......And i know better than to ask using the DPCI #.
Their manager there is a Nazi She-Wolf, totally unreasonable, and just plain rude. Can't tell you how many times I've tried to reason with her regarding my work schedule and the difference between Target exclusives VS. non Target exclusives. She's seen me in the store 6 or seven times a week and turns her back on me cause she don't want to deal with the whole DPCI # thing. I even spoke with corporate and they said "That is not our policy, If you are looking for something and it is not on the shelf, then we should pull it for you, unless it's a target Exclusive." I relayed the message to the Target manager(She was infuriated that i went over her head by the way)She then informed me that it's left up to the individual store managers to decide. Normally i don't give up that easily, but this woman is like a Psychic Vampire, she really wears me down. Life is too short for this kinda crap....

I won't even bother asking at the high volume store, or the low volume store near me, now if you want to see a true Target Nazi you have to meet the stock manager at this one store, she is one mean ****** she actually would make a great Sith Lord cold and heartless...LOL!  ;D

Maybe the problem is going to the same store everyday for weeks and never buying anything? I've noticed, the employees start to remember you face after a while and might start to think your shoplifting.

I've found dressing like a slob doesn't help. Being in business casule dress helps. It also helps to bring one  of your children with you on a run. They are alot more willing to help someone that is father rather than a guy that looks like the comic book guy from the Simpsons.

It's all inital preception.

I'm not one that even asks, I don't really care unless I know there is a street date for something and its not out.  If you ever know for 100% that there is a street date on something and it's not out, then that is when you push them and pull out "Im going to call copr #" cause someone will be in big trouble if corp. finds out that they are not up to date on their floor plan.

Vent away, JACKOFTRADZE!

At least we have an opportunity at Target to get them to pull stuff from the back.  Granted it can be rough some times to get the employees to do so, but we don't have the "luxury" of this option at TRU and WM.  The only response I get out of them is what's out is all we have.

I take what I can get.

That's kind of the point, at least with WM and TRU there is relative consistency there. I'd rather Target not bring stuff out for ANYONE than some people, or depending on which store or what employee you get.

I think if there are street dates then stores should follow them.  It helps casual collectors like myself who don't get a chance to look everyday and subsequently ask someone to snag a case at the first sign of a sighting.

It's fair for everyone if the toys make it to the shelf.

I'd quit going in there all together provided their website was worth a damn. At least WM and TRU update their sites on occasion.

Our local store had the front endcap up with these and the Joe/TF exclusives.  I picked up five of the six sets, opting to pass on the Luminara one - at least for now.  I'll probably wait to see if these hit clearance again, and maybe I'll grab some more.  They didn't have a ton out yet, just a couple sets worth in front and one set of six in the main aisle (occupying the spot where the Muggs are supposed to be - which are surprisingly sold out again).

Yeah, I can't believe how popular those Muggs are. There are never more than 3 or 4 on a shelf at one time, but usually even less than that. It's a surprise early hit I guess.

So what is the "official" set date for the Order 66 packs and the GI Joe vehicles?  My Target seems hellbent on letting them collect dust in the back rather than, you know, put them out and sell them, and I'd like to know when they'll be officially released from Target's arbitrary clutches so I can get the ones I want.

Well, I look nothing like the slobs you describe, and I spend plenty of money at Target on things other than toys on a very regular basis.  I'm always polite and friendly, I dress professionally, and there are even employees there who know me and ask me if I had any luck finding anything.  Despite this, any time that magic number prefix comes out of my mouth, it's like I go from "Valued Target Customer" to "Spawn of Satan" in the blink of an eye.

I'm sorry if this offends people, but I think expecting to be able to walk into a store, find what you're looking for on the shelves or, barring that, being able to have employees check the status of an item and, if in stock, bring it out for you to buy, is not too much to ask.  I'm simply tired of these constant CIA-esque missions to be granted the privilege of buying a toy from Target.   :P

You hit the nail on the head here. I feel exactly the same way. Again it's not like we are asking for a discount, or outright stealing the items. We want buy them. And again to reiterate, by selling these whenever a customer asks for them if they aren't already out on shelves, "should" mean that they can order yet more to get in for any perceived customers who didn't get the chance the first go around.

To me it seems Target WANTS to lose money on these by waiting. To say they want to make them available for anyone who wants them is kinda of bunk. WE are the ones who want them.

One thing that I really "hate" is that Target seems to lump "collectors" in with "scalpers" not realizing that there is a HUGE difference. (not including those that are collectors that also scalp to pay for their collections-a practice I abhor).

This is where again I say that consistency needs to be across the board. Either NO product comes out early at EVERY Target store-since it's a national chain store and not a franchise business OR whenever a customer asks, whether or not it's on the floor or not, if it's in the back, an employee will get it for you and allow you to buy however much of that product and which ever of it, you are willing to buy.

AotC -
Obi-Wan (sort of)

Comics -
Vill, Choi, BARC, Sev, 3x ARCs

Clone-Wars-EU-made-up-by-Hasbro
Camo AT-RT

RotS -
Anakin (sort of), Palpatine, Luminara,

I agree, but I know that two Target stores in my neck of the woods put out all they had, and they're already gone.  Who knows if they're getting another shipment given how so many went on clearance last year.

In Minnesota, a few guys who work at Targets have confirmed that Target is/has recieving multiple shipments...  a couple of stores that had sold through what they had in the back, got in 3-4 more cases in over the weekend.

If your store runs out, there is definitely the possibility of a re-stock... not a guarantee, but definitely a possiblity.

Maybe the best way to approach the dpci trick is to say another store gave you the number and referred you to them because their computers showed these were still available here.

Remember everytime you ask about a dpci, five comic book guys have asked that before you walked in.

Like I said, the thing that irritates me most about all this is the endless cloak-and-dagger bull**** that surrounds every single Target exclusive.  Say what you want about Wal-Mart and their horrid distribution of their own exclusives (and I'll chime right in with you), but at least they put the stuff up on their website for sale, and they actually put the stock out when it comes in, and you don't have to use some number to even be granted the opportunity to come within two feet of their stock.

That's all I'm going to say about it from here on out, because I know what I think, everyone else knows what I think, and I'm sure I'm pissing a lot of people off by saying what I think (which isn't anything new, but still...)

I've noticed the same by me.  My local store ran out of Aayla Secura fighters.  You'd have to figure that might be a somewhat small run.  But guess what?  They just got more again.  I think Target's doing well enough on these exclusives that they're probably getting multiple shipments.  They certainly handle them much better than WalMart handles an exclusive.

That's what I say almost every time... and it usually works... at least with the kids.

I've found that 99% of it is how you approach the employee about.  If you're polite and tell them that you looked on the sales floor, and have the number from another store and that store told you that they have them in stock and will get it for you, then you're almost guaranteed for them to pull it if they have it in the back.

At both Targets I went to they had these by the registers and NOT by the toys, so check there if you are not seeing them. The first target had all but the one I wanted but lucked out at the second one. Picked up the Tsui Choi and Barc Trooper set (mainly for that cool gun and helmet) I will probably pick up more/other later.

The robe with wire works great, hope we see that on future Jedi figures. The BARC isn't that interesting to me, besides the head and the BF chaingun. Still, pretty nice figure though. Overall, a great set of figures. I may pick up the Anakin/ARC pack on clearence as I don't have an ARC, and I'd like to replace my crappy ROTS #2 Anakin.

My guess is that the old UPC (barcode) is still in the system tied to the current/repeat DPCI so people may be returning the old product (bought on clearance) and purchasing the O66 2.0 sets.

Wait are we talking people are bring back the old set or swapping out figures from the old sets into the new ones? Either way, kinda pathetic.
Sales staff should be educated on the old sets or swapping figures and just simply not allow their return. This product is over a year old-not allowed to be returned. Then again Target made it possible for this by NOT changing the DCPI, IIRC.

My local Target still has not put these out (nor have they put out their Joe and TF exclusives).  They have them in the back, but they aren't willing to sell them for some reason.  Say what you want about Wal-Mart's exclusive availability and distribution, but at least they're willing to participate in standard retail actions like, you know, selling items to customers when they're in stock.   ::)

I here you on that DoctorPadawan,
One Target I went to said they couldn't put them out until the sold through on the other target exclusives they had on the shelf. (FU Battlepack, Starfigher and GH Packs).  One store put them out weeks before the "release date" and sold out while another put out the G.I Joe and held the Order 66 until last Sunday.  I lucked out and found them all.

We are talking about people bringing back old sets to exchange for the newer ones. I havn't seen the figures being swapped out yet. (old figures, new boxes) It's a little hard to swap these figures with the tube packaging.

Ok that's just not right.  I'd go to talk to management and point out the "street date"  I still have a Target or two where I live who are reluctant to put the endcap up, but there's plenty of other stores that have them well stocked up front.

I'm in the DC area for training and to see my folks and I went to the Target by their house. This store too hasn't put out the Order 66 stuff or the GI Joe exclusives or the Transformers. I found this very odd.

I noticed our local store has these all moved to the normal Star Wars section in the action figure aisle.  There seems to be a good amount of them there, but I didn't look specifically which ones they had.  Once it gets closer to clearance time, I'll take a closer look.  I didn't see that any of the Joe vehicles made it back to the regular aisle (must have sold out), and there were just a few of the Transformers.

Chicagoland Order 66 is not in abundence. The only ones that seem to hang around long are Luminaria sets and Palps. The rest seem to be hit or miss depending on the store. Joe vehicles are sold out everywhere here. i am glad I stocked up, better value than SW.

Transformers seem to be the cancer of the exclusives. They are rotting in overstocked piles.....

Repaints.

A little light blue accents added isn't quite enough to get me excited, to buy these over again. They do look cool in the package, but that's about it. I'm not  package collector,  so it was a pass for me the one time I saw them. Though I think these should have been packaged like this in the first place. I'm hoping Hasbro will do so for Transformer 2 toys. They put the Bumblebee Unleashed in a round tube, so they can do the same for the Voyager and Leader Class figs as well.

I don't understand Target's logic behind these sets.  Two figures for $9.99!  Great deal.  Let's sell them at full price for three weeks and throw them on clearance for the next month or two to see just how many we can burn through.  Hopefully we'll be able to sell the majority of our stock out at $2.48.   ???

I remember last year seeing over 300 of these suckers on a back endcap 2-3 months into the clearance just sitting there for weeks.  That didn't last too long though with the final markdown.   :)

I understand the logic now: these have shown up in Canada at a store called Zellers which occasionally gets a Target exlusive, the last I recall being the accessory pack things like the Endor version with biker scout and helmets, etc.  The reason they're moving them up here is because they are retailing at $19.99 a piece, plus tax, of course :o  Double US retail ::)

No price reductions yet in my area however worthy of note is the absence of some of the sets. The bulk leftover is Luminaria with some Anakins and Sevs left as well. The Obi Wans, Tsou Chois, & Palps are gone. A pattern is forming around this area with that formation.

Some of the latter 3 can still be found but when these hit clearance I am figuring the first 3 I mentioned that's will be the only ones left unless there is more coming from the warehouse.....

I noticed our local store has these (as well as all the endcap exclusives) just jammed in the regular Star Wars section (kind of a mess).  Unless there are more to come out, it doesn't seem like there was nearly as many put out this time around.  I remember a pretty good space of the action figure aisle "2nd from bottom shelf" filled with these last year.  There were some left, but I didn't notice which ones in specific were there.

The are still on the front endcaps in my neck of the woods but it's slim pickings: Sev, Luminara and some straggler Anakins. I knew these would not be in the abundance as before. (I posted this in reply 202 way back when. Sorry the image is missing if you look).

Here is the recap of the post:

The case of order 66 I picked up back on 4/1 was numbered 1476 of 5600 side of the box.

There are 12 tubes per case which equals 67,200 pcs for the possible total US production run. Breaking the numbers down further divide that by 6 and you have an exact production run of 11,200 per set. Thinking about this nationally that does not seem like a lot. So I am not sure the chances of seeing these at clearance as much as before.....those who wait may be sorry. Target has about 1500 stores in the US so the average store will only get 3-4 cases each (36-48pcs per store!)

While they may have had another small shipment, my original observation matches up from what I am seeing/reading.

Post by: Morgbug on May 7, 2008, 02:21 PM
Nah, they just sent the second shipment to Canada to rape us with.  They made way, way more money off the retailer up here than they would have made down there, so it made sense for Hasbro.

I have a feeling that Target is hiding these in their storerooms for an "eventual" clearance.  All of my Targets took down their Alaya/Kashhhhyyyyk/GH endcaps a few weeks ago and they were nowhere to be found, but all the sudden they popped up on clearance.  The o66/Joe/TF endcaps all got replaced by Speedracer **** two weeks ago and most of my Targets were very well stocked with all three exclusive lines the day before the endcap got yanked and replaced with ****** toys.

Who in their right mind thought that Speedracer toys should dominate every toy aisle/endcap  ???

dumbasses....

I think Mike's point is - do they really need two endcaps and a main aisle location for Speed Racer Cars?  Maybe the little hotwheel thinks will sell, but I don't see any movement on the Speed Racer Car/Figures, whereas the Iron Man Displays are completely cleaned out.  I would have bet big money on Iron Man being way more popular than Speed Racer prior to their release - this should not have been such a surprise to retailers.

Back on topic, my local target has the Order 66 sets (what's left of them) off the front displays and flexed into the main aisle.

I guess one store locally had a TON of these on clearance for half off, but unfortunately it's a hike from me...  The one I frequent semi-often had 50% off O66 sets tonight actually, but they were picked over and had very little left at all so I just passed.

I found some clearance stuff, so I'm content.  I just didn't get the "big" savings...  30% works for me though and a buddy locally did get me a Rancor half off, so that rocks.

I'm a happy man!

It seems like the Targets around town here have been holding these in the back until now.  I had only seen the Luminara pack at our local stores (since they were on the front endcap anyways), and now this weekend I saw most to all of the packs (depending on the store) on clearance for $6.98 or so.
Title: Re: 2008 Target Order 66 2-Packs

I went to 3 different Targets and all three had 2 end caps full of Order 66 and $6.98 a pop. They all had a hand full of Rancors. My friend in NJ picked up the Rancor for $20 and the 66 sets for $4.98 each. I am waiting this out before I go in to buy extras.

I want to know one thing why did they hide these for so long? For the last few weeks they were all but gone now it's like they dumped truckloads off. I love how Hasbro was warned us to buy these and not wait for clearance....I actually believed them. I am glad I did not buy multiples of these yet.

Damned good question.  My Targets only had the front end cap set up for maybe three weeks, then poof.  I knew they had to have gone somewhere and I thought I heard that Target was sending these back to Hasbro so they didn't have the same situation that happened last time, but obviously that's not the case.  I'm still hoping to see the endcaps I saw last year holding 300+ sets @ $2.50 a pop.

Good luck to both of you on finding lower prices.  I saw a bunch of these at $7 and within a few days they were all gone.  Still not down to $5 at most stores.  Rancors on the other hand are sitting around at $27.  I'm starting to wonder if they'll even sell through at $20.

I keep telling myself I'm just about done with Prequel Collecting... I had managed to avoid these sets until I saw them on clearance today. I nabbed one Palpy, one Tsui Choi, one Sev/Yellow ARC, one Obi-Wan/Red ARC, and four Anakin/ARC Trooper. I was just going to get one of each but I figured I'd grab a few more good ARC troopers while they were there so I can actually be done with them. Four blues should be enough for me. I didn't really want the Obi-Wan, the Anakins, the Sev, or the Clone that came with Tsui Choi. I only bought them because they were on clearance. I hadn't bought anything SW at retail in almost three or four months and then I spent close to $80 in one day. :-X

The Rancors seem to have hit clearance and disappeared around here before I even had a shot at them. :(

I was doing the 4-man ARC teams too Ryan.  I'm up to a hefty little number of early-war ARC squads at this point too, all with red commanders.  It's a nice feeling to have gotten them cheap.

I've managed now to get all but one complete set of O66 on clearance...  Basically, all my extras.  That ammounts to a lot more than I had planned on getting.  If I see more of just about any of them for super cheap (below $5), I'm down for them...  They're worth that just for the parts at that point.  Some stores here had tons, some had none, some had a handful it seemed.  And the %'s off varied.  I found a handful (just what I needed/wanted) for 50% off the other day, got all my early-buy extras returned and replaced them with 30% off buys...  Only one original set cost me full price and that was fine by me.

Did the same with my Rancor too.  $40 was too much on that bad boy I'm afraid, and now I can put the cash towards my AT-TE I figure.

I finally got around to opening my set of 2008 Order 66s this weekend.  My favorite figures of the 12 were Master Sev for his articulation and Tsui Choi for being a cute Jedi Master.  I really liked the cloaks that have the flexible wire sewed into them for way better cloak poseability.  It's little details like this that shows that Hasbro does sometimes care.  Definitely a nice touch.  I haven't convinced myself to open the JediCon Shadow Troopers set yet strictly due to the cost.  It sits MIP on the computer hutch for now.
