C'mon guys, you must've saw this one coming. ;D
So, what's your avatar? Does it have any special meaning?
I'll go first. My current avatar is Faramir from LOTR. He was awesome in TTT movie and he's even cooler in the ROTK book, which I'm currently reading.
So how about you? :)
-
Mine is representitive of the 3 toy lines I am totally addicted to.
Those being Marvel Legends (Wolverine), Star Wars (Jango Fett), and The Simpsons (Bart's Eye)
-
Mine was lovingly screen captured from one of the Star Wars Spoofs cartoons: www.starwarsspoofs.com
-
I have always liked the tie interceptor since I was a kid. I found this image on a tie costume site a while ago and had it over at scum. Dale helped get it to fit here and basically thats the whole story
-
Well my Dancing R2 I found searching the net. I was really attracted to it by it's dancing motion. He's a happy droid.
There are others that dance too. Luke, Leia, C-3PO & Paploo. R2 seems to be popular over at RS too. 8)
Your Welcome Wayne. ;)
-
At the moment I have no idea really.Found it and liked it.I'm looking for a new one and I'll probably change a few more times before I find one I'll stick with.
-
Just wanted to sey Hey, Mike! Glad you're aboard. :D
Looks like JD is building a quality user base here.

Thanks Cory, good to see you here.JD is where I'm hanging my hat.Lots of good folks here.Hope to see you around often. ;D
-
Looks like we are definately building a nice crew here! Glad to see so many memorable faces from over at RS! :)
-
Well, I think we have a laundry list of topics to attribute this mass exodus from RS to. I mean, I want to have fun, and not have to go and edit threads for misspellings, for the sake of being flamed.
Rebelscum, I don't know. It's like a permanent Spring Break, a Capital Hill meeting, a religious debate team,
and Grammer class, all rolled up into one big, ugly burrito..
dipped in rotting guacamole.
I tried GH, and it's a nice site, and informative, but it's a little slow? Not to mention, a GH/DSP merger is imminant.
Theres alot of migration there.
I'm looking forward to making this my home. ;D
Sorry for the temporary hijack, as you were!
-
First off => If anyone wants a custom Avatar, I can gladly make one for ya... I'm the adobe dude around here. 8)
Secondly =>
My avatar is a clip from the stunningly beautiful Star Wars Tales #14(?), entitled Apocalypse Endor... I fell in love with the comic's cover, and so I bought it and framed it on the same night. It now sits beside my computer in all of its glory...
-

..and if Brad's busy, you can come to me! ;D
-
Thanks to all of you guys for checking us out, I don't want to bad mouth Galactic Hunter too much cause I still like the site very much but its largest problem is that hardly any of the long time members collect anything any more, they're there just to socialize really.
RS is a lost cause. I, and everyone here excited about our future and we welcome you all to the site with open arms :)
Now my avatar...the most imfamous background character in Star Wars history needs no introduction...and he will be made in 3 3/4" Action Figure form someday :)
-
When I first started out at RS a year ago, I wanted an avatar that at least stood out a little bit more than the rest, since it was such a huge crowd over there ("only" 2,874 at the time), so I went with their avatar of the Imperial Royal Guard figure, which was a nice bright and noticeable red color.
Well, when I migrated over here several months back, I wanted to stick with the same character since that's what I was known for, and Chris had a WAY cooler looking Imperial Royal Guard here at JD, so I went with this one instead. Looks kinda menacing, I think...
Mike, where'd your customary Biker Scout zipping through the trees go? Get tired of that one?
As for the other collecting sites out there, well, I think that every site has it's pros and cons, as do we, but I definitely have no ill will towards any of them at all. Though I'll still pop into a couple of the others from time to time, I prefer to hang my hat here as well since it feels the most personal, and I really feel like I'm building friendships here, beyond just talking Star Wars, and that's important to me. I also really like that we've got some of the most knowlegeable and insightful collectors out there, who really like to "talk shop" about our favorite hobby...
-
Matt,I echo your thoughts on the forum issues, nicely put.
Yea I got burned out on that one.Plus the fact I have a hard time wanting to stay with just one because I get bored easily.I like it but I'm tired of looking at it. :P
-
Mine is of Jango Fett, and him & Boba Fett are my favorite characters. I like the color orange a lot, and thought this would look like something out of the 70's.
-
I'm back again. :)
That Faramir avatar was just temporary. I finally decided to make my definitive avatar for all the forums I frequent, now I just need to resize it for JD :) :

I had noticed you changed your avatar about 3 or 4 times in the last week, and was about to ask you about that. That's a great custom you did there, hence the name BobaShek. Great job!
-
I was using a Jawa aviator at scum for a whilel ,but got tired of it and switched to this EYE aviator... The Eye of Sauron. Cool concept, and a great villian from LOTR. I know, this is star wars, and I like Star wars the most, but I am allowed to mix my favorite hobbies :)
EDIT-- And it's not working? WTH. I am currently using this same icon at 3 other boards...?
-
Seems to be a problem with you server by the looks of it. I copied the URL to look at it & the page cannot be displayed. Also the dimensions are 60 x 60.
It has to be 50 x 50.
-
Mine is the number of my favorite Nascar driver, Robby Gordon, driver of the Chevy Monte Carlo Cingular Wireless car.
It used to be the Patriots logo, but now that football season is over, I decided to switch to my current fav sport. Once baseball season starts I'll probably switch it to the logo of the perpetually cursed BoSox.
-
Very cool avatar, Michael, at one point Gamm.Jedi did a custom avatar for me... had an Ewok in a blaze of hell, eyes glowing and such... Unfortunately I think I lost it... :'( It probably wouldnt work in this forum anyway due to size restrictions, which is probably our #1 complaint here at the forums.
-
now it started working for some reason, crazy :)
-
I fixed the URL you had pointing to the location of the avatar. You had one too many http://'s (ie: http://http://www.avatarurl.com). This was not a size issue. ;)
-
well how considerate, thanks :) ;D
-
I been wanting to change up my avatar a tad, just not sure if I should or not... How's this look for a change?
-
its good, but i like your old one, im not too keen on folk changing avatars all the time, but if you want to go for it
barfly
-
It is too freaky looking.
-
I say you should change it. Your current avatar isn't angry enough. The new one looks much better. Just my opinion anyway.
-
I say go ahead with the new one. Changing avatars isn't that bad, just as long as you don't do it once a week. That new Ewok looks psycho! The new one has my vote.
-
I can't see the arrow in it's head? Are you sure it's there? ;) ;D
-
I like the new one as well........nice ;)
-
Wearing my new avatar. :-*
-
If you concentrate really hard it looks like Captain Lou Albano. ;D
-
can everyone see my new avitar
-
Yes, can't beat the pipe smoking wok. ;)
-
Definately a grainy image - can't find a better pic of him? He's awesome, there's gotta be a better pic!
-
Wohoo! Pipe smoker Ewok! lol
-
i made this one, i couldnt find any
-
Don't tell my patients (they'd get a little more nervous about their cavities), but I've got 20/80 vision without my glasses (that I never wear by the way). Is that a pipe? It looks like a turd. I thought it was Mr. Hankey. I thought ewoks started scavenging and recycling (ughghghh) their nutrients.
-
I love it.
It looks like an ewok all hopped up on crack-cocaine.
Perfect, go nuts.
-

That, or a recently casterated one.

It's kind of fuzzy. It looks as if his face is melting.
-
I'm merging these two threads before we have a whole forum full of ewok avatar discussion... :-*
-
I'm merging these two threads before we have a whole forum full of ewok avatar discussion... :-*
One would expect you to then exercise your considerable power as a moderator and squash pointless topics like Ewoks :-* I can't believe all the people that like these stoopid little teddy bears. They're an abomination people, come to your senses! ;D
-
Without ewoks, there may have been a problem bringing that shield down on Endor. Until, of course, my fellow Dresselians succeeded. But the extra time that would have taken may have meant curtains for the Rebel Fleet against those Star Destroyers and Death Star.
-
This one needs a big bump. Mine was a custom made by the good folks over at snowtroopers.ca. I used to give the mods a hard time over there, so they dubbed me the "grumpy snowtrooper". Take Grumpy, give him a lightsaber (red, of course) and here I am.
Howzabout the rest of the newer folks?
-
Mine is a picture of one King Ghidorah's three heads.
-
I had to find one when I signed up becuuse the default avatar selection here... well... sucks.
I came accross this one, Tie Fighter Pilots are cool, and this one is kinda animated which is neat.
I would love to drive down the highway wearing one of those helmets.
No special story..
That's it.....
Scott
-
Mine is a photo of my own Obi-Wan Cold Weather Gear, because I wanted an avatar of my fav character, but not a version of Obi that everyone else uses. I have about six variations, sometimes “holographic”, sometimes with a UK flag background etc., so I might be changing it from time to time.
Can I just say that DSJ has the best avatar on any Star Wars forum, ever :)
-
Can I just say that DSJ has the best avatar on any Star Wars forum, ever :)
Yes, I do according to other forums for best Avatar. 8)
R2 just Rocks! People have said that when they feel a little down, they see my Avatar & it puts them in a Happy mood. :)
-
Something about that avatar just suits you so perfectly Dale... Must be the always cheerful disposition and helpful attitude (of both you and R2)! 8)
I had to find one when I signed up becuuse the default avatar selection here... well... sucks.
Yeah, I've gotta agree with you there Scott! Definitely an area in need of some improvement here. I'll hit the boss up about it, and see what we can come up with. Thanks for the impetus! ;)
-
My avatar is from the movie Carrie. I grew up watching horror movies, and this one actually scared me a bit, only for the fact that I thought that because I shared a name with the character, I would surely meet the same fate in life. Well, hasn't happened yet, and I made it through high school without killing a whole bunch of people (barely), so that's a good thing. Regardless, the image of Spacek in front of the flames, covered in pig's blood, is such a striking and memorable one, that I thought it suited me perfectly. Plus, I'm a horror freak, so, it's natural that I should choose an avatar that reflects that.
-
CC...did you just copy and paste that from Rebelscum? Hehehe. I always feel conflicted about whether or not I should answer questions here that are also over there (like this thread). I had the same dilemma over at GH.
I figure most everyone is reading both threads anyway.
But for those of you that didn't see the other thread....mine is just a picture of my collection. I used to update these weekly, and I may start doing that again one of these days. I'm thinking I need a picture of my battle droid army. It's growing to gigantic proportions.
-
No, Josh, I put a bit of a different spin on it here. I tend to elaborate more in my posts here for whatever reason. But I know what you mean, sometimes I pass on making duplicate posts on the same topic in different forums. It's one of those things I wrestle with every day.... ;)
-
My avatar is Space Moose. Space Moose was the star of a an extremelyprofane comic strip that ran in a Canadian college's newspaper in the early 90's.

And for the record, extremely funny. Cosmo emailed me a link last year after I inquired about it following a similar thread at RS. Its not for everyone though, there's definitely some raunchy stuff going on.

I'm sure the struggle is as epic as mine is.
There is one important difference. It's very easy to keep track of which site I do all my arguing on. That can stay over there. Until I get banned like Cory.... ;D
-
Mine is one I found actually and he makes me laugh so I have decided to make him universal for all appearances of the entity Hansloroll

That's when he did that one skit on Saturday Night Live, right?
-
Yes, it was.
I had that avatar for awhile at the site where he got it.
-
Well, mine is what I used to see alot of in my Dark younger days.. :o
-
That skit on SNL with Christopher Walken just kills me. I never laughed so much. Cheers to ya! :)

Sometimes I wonder if you still see them. ;D :P :-*
-
I’m The Edge from The Simpsons at the moment. Not really sure why.
-
I decided to change my avatar to something different. I've been wanting to focus my collection on one particular character, and I've always liked Darth Maul. I like him even better after reading "Shadow Hunter" (in which he's the main character). So, I thought this would be a good start to my Darth Maul collection.

I noticed that too.

Took this one off Rebelscum and made the blue BG black. Zuckuss (or 4-LOM if you prefer) is my favorite looking Star Wars character. Just a bad ass bounty hunter who isn't over hyped Boba Fett (although Boba comes in a close second). 20 seconds of screen time and IMO stole the scene just by looking so odd.
-
20 seconds of screen time and IMO stole the scene just by looking so odd.
He definitely looked odd... very much different than all the rest of the bounty hunters. Too bad him, IG-88, 4-LOM, Bossk and Dengar didn't have much more air-time like Boba Fett did.
-

But I think that's what makes that group of bounty hunters so popular. I used to be a big Boba fan boy, but then Lucas over did his story and did away with his cool mystery. With the others all you get is a few seconds look and have to use your imagination the rest of the way.
-
Nope...keep guessing :-*
-
I use to have an emerald stone that spun around in flames but I lost it when my computer crashed and I can't remember who set me up with it in the first place so I just took the one I have over at theforce.net.
I wish I had my flamming stone back though.... :-\
-
My avatar has a long story connected to it but I no longer feel typeing it so just accept what you see and ask no questions about it ;D

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta

'I even told them I like Michael Bolton.'

What does your avatar mean to you? Is it something personal or is it just a character from Star Wars that you love?
My avatar is the old Mario in all of his glory. And look, it moves! :D I'm changing my avatar to day 25 soon... :)

Here at JD.com, I currently suffer from avatar-ADD, which manifests itself by causing me to constantly change my avatars. They usually only last a week or two, then it's time for a change. That way, I get to show-off my mad avatar photoshop skillz. :P
Over at Scum, my avatar is a vintage DS Commander. I figured it was appropriate since all scum posters are pretty much under the control of the Grand Emperor and his henchmen. [Triumph: I Keeeeeed!]
Jeff

I have Avatar ADD as well, been switiching it up for a while now

-
Mine was made for me. Apparently a reflection of some aspect of my personality. I don't get it.
I suffer from precisely zero avatar ADD.
-
Funny, but I figured someone must've bumped this thread back up from the past, but apparently we never covered this "standard" here before.
That said, I've always used a Royal Guard as my avatar, just 'cause they look so cool, and the red tends to make it stand out a little more from the rest. When I migrated over here to JD, I noticed they had a far cooler, and much more menacing looking Royal Guard avatar here, so that's what I've been everywhere ever since... Just wish I didn't have to share it with others! :P
Brent, I've always loved yours. Perfect for a grumpy old-fart, potty-mouth like yourself. :P :-*
-
I just like the way R2 dances around, sort of a happy mood & relaxing.
I had this one for awhile! ;D

Indeed it did ;D
EDIT: now that I have posted and can see what my avatar is, I remember that I chose it because “white noise” reflects both the infrequency and minimal quality of my posts here at JD ;)
-
I'm not sure what he tried but the number in my avatar represents the days left of my banning. :P
-
I always thought that was a swarm of angry mosquitos
-
I’m going to drop my white noise / angry mosquitoes in favour of a Wayne Rooney avatar until at least Monday when we play Croatia. His 2 goals tonight saved our Euro 2004 ass*.
* God bless JD for the word “ass”.

It's some Pearl Jam art from the Green Disease t-shirt.
I like skulls & crossbones.
I tried getting my Zim sig to fit, but I seem to suck at Photoshop.

I dig that shirt. I don't even wear it because I'm afraid to wreck it. ::) I think I'll score another from the 10c.
BTW, you ordering the vinyl of Benaroya Hall? I wonder how much they'll be asking for that. 4 LPs. Oooof. :o

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of this guy:
Anyone hook me up?
(Semi-related, not-interesting side note: A few weeks ago, I ordered the Saved By the Bell: Seasons 1 & 2 DVD from Deep Discount. Guilty pleasure, they had it on sale, so what. Well, damned if they didn't send me Seasons 3 & 4 instead (which I also wanted, and was more expensive than 1 & 2).
So now, I've still got 3 & 4, not knowing what to do about it. Part of me wants to keep it, but the other part--that pesky "conscience" thing--tells me that I need to send it back. I'm the type of guy who takes the cellophane off his DVDs like, in the parking lot, on the way back to the car, but there 3 & 4 sits, still wrapped up, brand new. And I still haven't marked 3 & 4 off my want list, either.
What else is ******* my order status at DDD--they still have it listed as an "open" order. They know they f--ked up, but they haven't contacted me, and I haven't contacted them.
I have no moral backbone.)
-
I have no moral backbone.)
Your dilemma reminds me of the classic episode when Jesse had a horrible caffeine pill addiction.
Unfortunately, there's no "Zack" to tell you that you've got to fight the urge, and dammit.....send those DVDs back. So I'll step in. Think of me as your moral Screech.
The problem is not going to solve itself. You must send them back. :)
-
Your dilemma reminds me of the classic episode when Jesse had a horrible caffeine pill addiction.
I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so. . . SCARED!

This reminds me of the time a friend and I went into a used game store, many years ago. We'd go there whenever we needed cheap NES games, which were usually 5 bucks.
On day I spotted a Tengen Tetris sitting on the shelf (this is back in the day when it was super-hard to find one, and when you did, they were bucks), and asked the clerk how much it is. Being not that bright, and not the owner, he goes into the back and asks. When he returns, he tells me it's 9.99. Sold, I say. I pay, we leave, passing the owner coming in as we are going out.
As we get into my car, in a panic pace of run comes the clerk, who knocks on the window of my engine-on and in-reverse car. My instinct... go! Go fast! My friend, he simply says, "Dude, if we go we can't come back for cheap NES games."
So I go back in and hear the guy's explaination of the mix-up and the wrong price. I give the thing back. All in the name of the moral high ground, and future cheap games.
Then, after all that, we never went back there. Ever. It's only known as the place of the 10 dollar Tengen Tetris... that I gave back.
Even funnier, we would have gone back, and bought many more games, out of both guilt and the giddy pleasure we had that day for getting something for a bargain. They would have had a lot more business in the long run.
Keep the damn discs, says I, man of questionable moral judgement.
-
See, this is my problem:
Part of me says that, much like Quaker-brand Oatmeal, sending the discs back would be the right thing to do.
But the other part says "f--k 'em, keep the DVDs."
I think I know what's gonna happen--I'm going to keep them forever, but never break the plastic, and never watch them, and ride the fence of moral ambiguity until the day I die.
Either that, or take 'em to Wal-Mart for store credit when the OTC stuff starts showing up.
:o

Why did I select my avatar? To pay homage to the man who once ruled the world of Jango memorabilia with an iron-clad bounty hunter fist (as pictured). I salute him.
-
I want a new avatar - but I need to find more photos of Trok from Caravan of Courage. If only I had it on DVD...
-
Why did I select my avatar? To pay homage to the man who once ruled the world of Jango memorabilia with an iron-clad bounty hunter fist (as pictured). I salute him.
That is simply. . . stunning. Thought that photo was lost forever.
Still have the full-size? PM it to me if you do, huh? Thanks.
Since I've already contributed to this thread about my avatar, I won't mention it again. But I will say something about avatars in general:
It's somewhat annoying and confusing to see several different people have the same avatar. I'm thinking specifically of two examples--JediMAC's ubiquitous Royal Guard, and Scott's ICMG.
Especially with the Royal Guard--it's so unmistakably Colman, it just throws me off whenever I'm scanning through a thread and see it, only to find out that it's someone else's post.
I think it oughta be that once someone snags an avatar, nobody else can use it until the original person gives it up again.

That would be a good idea, but semi-hard to enforce.
On a related note, I chose mine because I'm a bastard. (Thanks Brad)

Yeah, I wasn't thinking that would be something that would actually be possible--it was more of a "wouldn't it be nice"-type of thing.
And you think that the whole duplicate avatar thing would be something that would kind of take care of itself--after all, why would anybody want to have the same exact thing as someone else?
-
It's somewhat annoying and confusing to see several different people have the same avatar.
See Berry?! I told you! :-*
I tried to get Berry to let me have that one all to myself long ago, before anyone else started "sharing" it, but he wouldn't let me... >:( Now we've got at least 3 members here with it, maybe more.
Confuses me too. Sometimes I stop at the Royal Guard and say "Huh?! When the hell did I say that?!?" Only to discover it's evenflow or Tammy... :P
Give it to me, boss!
-
Filler.
-
Confuses me too. Sometimes I stop at the Royal Guard and say "Huh?! When the hell did I say that?!?" Only to discover it's evenflow or Tammy... :P
Nothing personal against them, but I personally feel cheated when I come across that avatar, and it's not a JediMAC post.
It's like--there's just something inherently wrong with that.
It'd be like if someone started using my avatar.
I'd freak.
-
my newest avatar is the greatest picture ever. thanks matt for making me laugh my ass off...

Funny, but that's Coheteboy from Galactic Hunter there! :P He and I were chatting at the Hasbro booth at SDCC, and I mentioned that Jared was taking some VOTC pix for us, so Dave (Cohete) stuck his mug behind the Boba on the opposite side of the cabinet just to be a goof and hopefully wind up in our JD picture archive. Probably wasn't expecting that to turn into someone's avatar though, I bet... ;)
Nice picture Dave! :D

you just need to personalize it, instead of just using one off the shelf... add your name or something to it. make it your own, make it stand out from the other royal guards out there....

lying on an all nude male beach
You know, I was thinking that maybe that photo of all the naked fat guys in the hot tub may have come from your personal collection, and wasn't just something you found on the internet. . .
-
Eh, I'm growing tired of being "not Virex" already.
Maybe I'll have to be someone else for the rest of the day...
-
Ah...
there we go, something "new".
:D

If ya can't beat 'em...

Come on, you guys know that Durge and GNT don't read this site. You know better than that.
Crazy kids.

For a Mod, I'd think you know better. This Thread is for discussing avatars, not your personal life. Please consult the official thread thread to find the official thread on what you did over the weekend.

You should change your name to "Nurge".

How about "Grugge"

okay, looks like i have a severe case of avatar a.d.d. lately. been changing on a daily or at least almost daily basis...
over the past few days, i've had:
flaky from happy tree friends
(http://img55.exs.cx/img55/420/greatwhite.jpg)
a giant great white shark eating a sunbather from some really cheesy 70's giant shark movie jaws ripoff
(http://img63.exs.cx/img63/3789/cool1.gif)
the animated japanese schoolgirl massacre
(http://img66.exs.cx/img66/189/urr.jpg)
and currently, urr from aqua teen hunger force, showing his two forms of i.d., from the newest episode.
i wonder how long this one will last??
-
It's Clark, man.
I think it's his 'Mary in the pool' face or his "Oh ****, it's Eddie" face.

Just had to give props to Epidermis's avatar over at RS... This is some funny ****!

that's more disturbing at thrice the size.....
just to contribute to the subject, I chose my avatar partially due to the New Jersey Devils being one of my favorite hockey teams and they just have a cool ass logo. As my first name is Jason, I took the N out of the logo to leave an evil J as my avatar. I have thought in the past of getting that as a tattoo, but I've not gone thru with it as of yet,.

Christina is my #1 self-flagellation fantasy.
My desktop is a pic from that Maxim shoot she did.
That said, I'm gonna be using that avatar somewhere.

Now this is just wrong. Some Snowmaker fella over at RS is using Dale's dancing R2 avatar! Man, that thing IS Dale. Other people can't use that... >:(

Don't play dumb with me! I know you two were in cahoots on this conniving little project. And I'd go so far as to guess that troublesome, meddling Dp character was the instigator in the whole thing... Man, you're in deep Bantha poodoo with me now! Might have to suspend you for a little while so you can have a "time out" to think about what you've done (and why it was wrong). I'll keep you posted on that though...

Shhh, he doesn't know how

'Cause then all these clowns would have to find another form of entertainment, and I'd hate to have to make them go through that.
Besides, as was already mentioned, now you can tell my posts from those of evenflow, dimetrodon, RJP, etc. ;)
Not to mention, it's more of a purple Royal Guard, which is far less offensive than a pink one.
(sits and waits for the **** to really hit the fan now...)
-
I dunno, that "snow" guard sure does have a pinkish tinge to it. I guess that's better than having a yellow tinge to the "snow" :-*

Ha. :D

Oh ****, I just realize my 10000 Dickhead Award is hosted by Dale :'(

Queer Eye for the JediDefender Guy-- tonight on JD.

Yeah, I knew that wouldn't take long... :P
Liked the first alteration a little better myself, but that's just me...

One of these days you guys are going to have to educate us poor stupid newbies (well, ok, ME, this stupid newbie) about this whole pink sweater business... ??? :)

Really! Oh what to do! ;D

Oh yeah, now we're talkin'! 8)
My hat's gonna be jealous though... :P

Here at JD.com, I currently suffer from avatar-ADD, which manifests itself by causing me to constantly change my avatars.
My vOTC Han Avatar (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/7-04/hanvOTCava.jpg) has lasted longer than any other Avatar that I've had! A testament to my love of that figure I guess.
Nonetheless, I feel a change coming on.... goodbye old friend. :'(
Jeff
-
Uh, stupid question time. Is there an easy way to make your own avatar? I don't have Photoshop (but I probably should). I just thought that maybe there was a handy little piece of software on the net I could download to make one. My Darth Vader needs a new look.
-
I stuck with the same image for a long time on this site and scum - finally decided to go with a kid getting smoked in the face.
:P
-
Eddie Vedder with a Bush mask on his mic stand-- best avatar I've ever stolen. :D
-
Dig the new avatar, Jared!

I always love seeing Justin's too. That kid getting plunked in the noggin' by that ball is always quite amusing! :P

Ah, looks like I finally found my infamous pink Hooters shot too (above)... >:(

I started using my avatar about a year and a half ago when I became part of the 400th Missile Squadron. The picture is a shot of the 10 RV's coming into the range in the Pacific from a test firing of a Peacekeeper from Vandenberg AFB.
The 400th MS is my first operational assignment as a commissioned officer in the AF, and the 400th is standing down in October of this year due to a treaty with the Russians.
I thought having the Avatar would be an intersting tribute.
-
My avatar will probably always be Quinlan Vos. I can't remember my first avatar though. Getting old is fun! ;D
-
Mine is of the Tenth Doctor.
It's a shame about Nine, because he has been brilliant in the new series.

I had a really cool one of Natalie Portman screaming in B&W, and I had emailed it to someone in the admins, but my email messed up and the file has since disappeared off my computer. Drat.
If anyone can hook me up with a screen grab of Yoda's "OH ****!" face from the ROTS trailer, or of the demented Yoda puppet from the "Making of ROTS" book, I'd really appreciate it. :)

Who'd you e-mail it to Michael, and when? Any chance it made it through to one of us, and we might still have it?
If you say you sent it to me a while back and I never took care of it, well, uh... I'll be a tad bit embarrassed. :-[

I honestly can't remember at this point, Matt. I know it was at some point during the first week I signed up here last year, but I'm drawing a blank as to who I emailed it to. Like I said, though, I was having some problems with the email account I sent it from at the time, so it may have never even been sent in the first place. No big deal. :)

Mine (currently the cartoon R2) was scanned from a knock-off type kids record. There's also a C-3po copy on the cover, and the record is not about Star Wars in the least. I'll find this picture I have of it soon.
-
Currently, it's my personality. I know you're asking yourself.."Is he going to shoot..or not..".
Stay tuned.

Just another avatar that I found that made me chuckle.
I change my avatar often. Avatar A.D.D.

I just figured I'd find a good Star Wars one and Amy Allen looks good in blue.

It used to be a random Snowtrooper avatar that I found on Google Images, but I've since made my own. It's one of my custom clone troopers. ;D
-
I was reading the book Jedi Search when the moment came for me to choose a screen name, it worked - so I've been using that everywhere I go. So along those lines, since Luke was searching for Jedi and Jedi artifacts my avatar has always been Jedi Luke. I started with an avatar I found at theBothanSpy.com, but have since made my own avatar from the Jabba's palace scene. I like the pose where his hands look kinda like a zen meditation pose.

Which convinced me to convert, so I went ahead and cropped and used it.

The current avatar (very nicely supplied by Jared) is from a photo in "The Making of ROTS" book. ILM had sent the Episode I Yoda puppet to Shepperton Studios in England for eye-line use during the ROTS reshoots. When the Yoda puppet was removed from his packing materials, he had this demented look on his face due to the breakdown of the silicon materials. Here's the excerpt from the book (available at all fine booksellers near you):
Because of budget constraints, the Jedi Council chamber is being shot in sections. The first group of five chairs is placed on their marks and Yoda is unwrapped-to reveal a truly deranged version of himself-which will be used only for camera reference and eye lines.
"Have you seen Yoda's expression?" Knoll asks Lucas. "It's priceless."
"Somebody has to get a photo of that," Lucas agrees, and Knoll adds, "Something's definitely wrong with the universe."
The thing that makes the photo even funnier is the look on Sam Jackson's face. Yoda is sitting in a chair, and there's Sam in full Mace Windu regalia next to him, giving him this "WTF?" look out of the corner of his eye. :D
Short version, Yoda looked so demented it made me laugh like I was demented. Hence my selection of the avatar. :)

I don't have one to the full photo (I just saw it in the book and I think Jared scanned/cropped it for my avatar directly from that), but maybe someone else does. Sorry. :-\

I call my new avatar the bookend of Crazy Yoda and an homage to DP

In light of recent events, I figured this avitar was needed.
It's a capture of a piece of Artwork I own, done by Andrea Preville. She's a local artist and a friend of mine. I commisioned the art to be done of a comic book cover and she captured its likness 100%.
She's done me some Star Wars themed art as well.
I LOVE Venom.

Time to give "Kubrick Han" a break and use something new for a while...

I'm digging Final Crisis and it's heavy use of the GLs... 8)

Now my avatar...the most imfamous background character in Star Wars history needs no introduction...and he will be made in 3 3/4" Action Figure form someday :)
Ah, the sweet smell of vindication.
-
Mine is me drunk in a shark costume on halloween one year... Note the beer bottle in my fin. That costume was coolness defined.
-
Mine of course is the Cleaner from Toy Story 2. He's the only representation I've ever seen of a toy customizier. "It's for display only!"
-
Wow, super old thread!!
My avatar is a tribute to my time in the military. I've got another avatar on another board I'd rather use, but it's too big to use here. That one has two crossed M4's behind the skull with the beret. So this one is just a variation of that.
-
Mine's pretty self explanitory. I'll think of a new one some day.
-
I've never changed my avatar here. I tend to stick witht he same one and it is my favorite armored look in star wars.
-
I have gone through a few avatar's here, they all have been good.
