The wave 1 sandtrooper is the officer, isn't it?  I thought the trooper variant coming out was the "trooper"?  I could be wrong as I can't recall which color the wave one was.  Orange is the officer color though.

D'oh! I guess I had that backwards...thanks for the correction.

I just hope they carry the other lines too if/when they ever come out...I'm starting to wonder.

Picked up another Sandtrooper at TRU over lunch today, since I already gave in to the army building impule for the regular Stormies. I figured it would look a little silly just having one trooper standing there next to the officer that is due out soon.

Plus I haven't seen this guy around much for quite awhile, thinking I might not have too many more chances at him. I got them to price match the $17.99 online price too.

If they're all just repacks, why would anyone need to "change their underwear" at SDCC?  ;)

I thought this was only going to be $45?

I don't know, doesn't look much better to me than the Hasbro version. Not sure if my comic shop would even stock these or not either.

That SDCC exclusive 3-pack with the all-black Jaegers from the ending credits is a must have, I shudder to think of the secondary market prices on this though.

I've seen as many bad reviews as good for Godzilla, so that doesn't really wow me as a credit. Nor does any of the stuff the other guy has done, but that's not to say they can't make a good Boba Fett movie.

As long as it's set between Rebels and ROTJ, I think they'll be in safe waters.

Worst part: The scene set in 1999 that features a kid playing with a 2004 LEGO Snowspeeder. Do they REALLY think they can get away with BS like that?

Let me guess:  your favorite part of Argo was the end credits sequence with the vintage Early Bird kit and X-Wing, right?

That actually WAS my favorite part of that movie!

I'll take Muppets over CGI any day of the week.

That contest sounds like a cool idea, I'll definitely throw them $10.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Cancelled The Clone Wars Toys :(
« on: May 20, 2014, 09:26 PM »
Thanks for the feedback, guys, interesting points all around.

I guess another way to phrase my point would be that some of the figures originally under development for the Clone Wars line are finding their way into the current Legends line.

To wit:

SW CW R5 P8 A0831
SW CW RAKO HARDEEN A0833
SW CW3 AHSOKA A0839
SW CW4 CAPTAIN REX A1597
SW CW4 CAPTAIN REX A5085
SW CW4 PONG KRELL A1805
SW CW5 DARTH MAUL A1807
SW CW5 JEDI TEMPLE GUARD A1803
SW CW5 YODA A1806
SW CW SHADOW MAGNA GUARD A0840
SW CW SHOCK TROOPER A2427
SW CW SUPER TACTICAL DROID KRAKEN A1804

That is straight from Hasbro, so the "CW" flag there seems to at least imply that there were additional figures planned for that line that never got released. I think we can all agree on that.

To what degree those figures were developed we may never know. Maybe there was some 3D imaging, basic dimensions mapped out, etc which they ended up using for the eventual Legends version. Maybe there were actually fully realized sculpts, prototypes, etc. I guess my point about the tweaking is more that they adapted whatever groundwork had already been laid for these figures as the basis for the Legends release.

Like, I doubt they would have designed a Jedi Temple Guard for the Clone Wars line and then thrown all that work out the window and started over from the ground up with a whole new interpretation just for the Legends line. It just seems logical they would piggyback on the work already completed.

I do get that some of these new 5 POA figures are fundamentally put together differently too, as I sadly found out when I went to swap out that atrocious Darth Maul head from the Mission Series 2-pack. But that Shocktrooper is a good old fashioned ball joint pop off head, just like a Phase II Clone Trooper, so who knows. When I hold him next to my other Shock Troopers he just looks a whole lot skinnier to me than the previous versions. Hence my initial suspicions.

At the end of the day, I don't know that it matters much, aside from the fact that I feel more motivated to buy figures that I think were originally intended for the animated line. Maybe I'm just projecting some wishful thinking though.

I have a theory I am increasingly convinced of that I wanted to post here.

With the recent announcement of the Jedi Temple Guard Legends figure, we have confirmation that Hasbo is actually going to release some of those cancelled Clone Wars figures, albeit slightly tweaked from the original sculpt. (A little less animated and less articulation)

You can kind of see the net result with the Darth Maul figure from the Mission Series. That doesn't really look animated but it somehow falls short of a full realistic interpretation too IMO.

Both Darth Maul (A1807) and the Jedi Temple Guard (A1803) were new items on the list of cancelled stuff that clearly seem to have made their way into the Legends line.

My theory is that the already released Legends Shock Trooper is another example of one of these cancelled Clone Wars figures finding its way out. That figure was on the same list (A2427) assumably based on the final season arc with Ahsoka. It's not sourced as such on the package but I think the origins of that figure are from TCW. The sculpt is noticeably leaner and more stylized than previous versions. Not as thin as a true animated figure but a fair blend, ala Mission Series Maul.

The Shock Trooper fits in pretty nicely with Fox and company. I really liked this sculpt from the get-go and now I know why.

Hmm, no these are not folks who are offering to buy stuff outside of eBay, (that is a big No-No in their eyes anyway) they're just people who basically just want me to drop the price on an item I already have listed. So all the eBay and Paypal fees would still come into play, unfortunately.

And these are not auctions that are overpriced to begin with, honestly. I always price stuff to sell. But I also know my margins and the lowest I can afford to go. I have no problem listing stuff for weeks over weeks, I don't expect stuff to sell right away. But I've never had anything linger more than a few months either.

And yeah, I am very appreciative of any interest in my listings. I just find the occasional lowballing more of an annoyance personally than the sellers who have outrageous BINs. Those I can easily ignore.
