Man, what's with the 900 Willow figs?  Seems like the only fig from that line I ever see.  I started collecting these when they first came out, but decided to get out of it.  Had most of the exclusives, including the red pants Willow (which fetched me $90 on ebay when I sold it!) and just unloaded them all at once.

Matt:  When I ordered the minis, I ordered the complete set off the hop so I got the display case (it actually arrived before the Mace saber.)  My convention Ob1 is the only one sitting by itself now that I have the stand.

Hemish: My convention saber stand was a-ok.  Maybe you got a dud.  That really sucks if you did.  Are you sure you put the pieces in the correct sides?

I just read there is a 12" Randy Moss...is that true?  And if so I may want one!

Yeah.  I've seen it in the store a couple of times.

The big news today is about the Pro Bowl Clinton Portis that went on sale today.  It's only at http://www.clintonportis.com, and at the cheap price of $19.99 each.  :o

Don't forget the $17 for shipping on the Portis!  People are up in arms about that.  I saw that guys spent nearly $100 on 4 exclusive Portis figs.

I haven't hit any stores lately, so not sure what's out there.  I did stop into Target today to pick up Kill Bill Vol. 2, but there were no SPs and you could see that the toy section had been reset (lots of new OTC stuff.)  I did manage to get a white Ahman Green for $21 delivered off the Spawn Boards and my buddy, who works at TRU, is hookin me up with a white Jamal Lewis and white McNair.

The Rangers lack of pitching is catching up with them, like I knew it would, and they are slowly falling out of the race.  The A's are playing well and the Angels have hit a groove.  Texas is done, sorry to say since my former teammate Michael Young is having such a great year.

As for the Astros, I'm with you.  What in the hell did happen?  They just seem like an old team.  Too much talent to have been that inconsistent this season.  But who would have guessed the Cards, with seemingly no solid pitching, would have the best record in baseball?  Now that Wood and Prior are back, the Cubbies will take the Wild Card.

I'd really like to know if the Lakers have any direction right now or are just making moves just to make them.  If they are doing all of this to clear up cap space, they better make some kick ass signings in the future.  I just hope they make the playoffs.

The A's will win the West and the Angels will win the Wild Card.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: Boy, Collecting Sports Cards Has Changed...
« on: August 3, 2004, 02:57 PM »
I tell you what.  Seeing someone my age sell between $60K-$100K in cards each month makes me want to get back into it.  Sports card collecting has changed DRAMATICALLY.  Regular cards aren't worth squat unless they are graded.  I just sold 32 Barry Bonds cards on ebay, including several RCs, and only got $100.  And if you take the gamble in grading them and they come back less than a 9 or 9.5, you won't get much for them.  The fun of the hobby died a long time ago (which is why I stopped collecting around 90-91.)  It's nothing more than a business now.  That's why you see these cards with the US President's autos on them.  It's all about the secondary market.

Got my mini Mace saber today.  That completes my Jedi collection.  It's definitely my least favorite of the 4, but it's cool nonetheless.  Now for the Sith collection!

Sorry HE, but I have local friends who are in line before ya!  But if they start showing up en masse, I might be able to hook you up.

No big then dude.  I've got hookups out here, but they usually wait til they find damaged packages since I'm an opener.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Selling Collections
« on: August 2, 2004, 11:21 PM »
Nice topic.

For me, I've never regretted selling off a collection.  I sold off my SW stuff just before the value of stuff really started to fall.  I got pretty good money for most of it.  Same for my vintage stuff.  I just decided that I didn't want to collect the stuff anymore despite my life-long love for the SW universe.  I still have a few Vader items and random loose figs, but my collection is long gone.

My Simpsons collection started to get out of hand (simply too many figs and playsets) so I sold off everything I had (most every piece including exclusives up through the first 5 or 6 series.)  I got $600 for all of it and everything was loose.  Again, I don't regret it.

I've stuck to collecting SportsPicks, being the sports fan that I am.  I collect those loose as well and sometimes when I start to run out of space, I sell off a few figs here and there.

I was wrong about the Ricky Williams.  Mark Weber from TMP said today that the figs are in production and they can't change out Ricky even if they wanted to.

Nice haul by the way.  If you see another A's Jackson or Astros Nolan, keep me in mind.  I need those 2 and I'm a loose collector so package condition doesn't mean squat as long as the figs are mint.
