I was surprised to get some notifications from Yahoo Fantasy Sports on my phone this morning. Notably, game scoring updates! I didn't know until today that the Jags and the Bills were playing this morning in London. And I was even more surprised to learn that the game is being streamed exclusively on the web by Yahoo! (The Jacksonville and Buffalo tv markets being excepted).
Impressions? The webstream has looked a little dodgy at points. The speed of action in an NFL game in HD combined with streaming video is not a match made in heaven. I've seen lots of artifacting in the video on the web feed. And then the delay? Hooboy! I'm actually working today, and in my job I get access to a lot of live video feeds. I compared the broadcast feed of the game to the webcast, and the webcast is delayed AT LEAST 30 seconds behind the action from the broadcast feed that's going out to all of the NFL partner networks. If I were a Jaguars fan or a Bills fan who doesn't live in those markets, I'd be supremely annoyed that the game feed is delayed by that much.
