Title: Video game figures!
Post by: Playgirl on January 1, 2004, 04:01 AM
I think it would be cool if Hasbro made some of the video game characters into figures.  Reborn especially!

Which would you like to see?

Show how Kyle actually carries all those around at once.

;)

Mara's ship from MotS is called the "Shrike."  Kind of trashes the pattern of always having "Jade" before the name (Jade's Fire, Jade Shadow, Jade Saber, etc.)

In the game I'm not sure that it's ever shown how Kyle's able to carry anything...  For the game's purposes, I'm sure they didn't bother messing with it.  Jedi Academy decided to restrict what you could actually lug around with you then...  That was kind of a nice change of pace since you needed to be selective as to what you picked as your weapon(s) of choice.

Not all those weapons are from the same game though anyway, but for him to carry all of that though, I suppose Katarn could;

-hook on his belt the Fusion Cutter
-Sling the Railgun
-Holster the Stormie Rifle
-Holster the Briar Pistol
-Do nothing with the Extended Stormie Rifle since it's just a stormie rifle with the stock pulled out
-sling around the Thermal Det. Bandoleir
-Use the backpack for the IM Mines
-Hook to his belt a Lightsabre hilts

I think I'd add an Imperial Repeater rifle to the list too...  It was a pretty important weapon in the original Jedi Knight and Dark Forces.

Kyle really seemed to carry a lot of junk in his first 2 games, and in JK he mysteriously made them disappear anytime he took out his sabre. :)

i think it would be cool if there was a malak. if i had to choose one character from any star wars game (though one character would be very sad) i would pick malak. hasbro is so mean. :'(

Yeah...Darth Malak would kick ass. It would be cool if the device on his chin could come off to show his injury...

A Darth Malak and Darth Revan 2 pack would be cool too.

i was thinking about a revan toy. it would probably have to be a make your own figure or something. 2 male parts, 2 female parts, 1 male darkside, 1 female darkside. i thought that was kind of lame. btu you could put them all together and have 4 different action figures. it just doesnt make sense!

I haven't played as a female Revan yet. Is Revan noticibly female even with the mask and cloak on?

well, i see what you mean, the old revan. where all you see is a cloak. i guess just playing most of the game as whatever your character looks like, you forget that you actually used to just look like that ghost revan in the beginning. It would make a better toy as the old revan anyway. sorry i didnt think of that.

I guess the only option for Hasbro would be to pick one "look" and go with it. Then I guess we'd all have to play the game again using that look before we got the figure.

Gotta admit though, Revan looks pretty cool in the cloak and mask.

Aside from that dilemma though, there's lots of cool characters that would make great figures. They could release some sweeeet 2-packs:

* Mission Vao and Zaalbar
* HK-47 and T3-M4
* Bastilla and the Player (Revan)
* Carth and Canderous
* Jolee Bindo and Juhani
* Sith Trooper 2-pack
* Mandalorian and Mandalorian Commander
* Darth Malak and Darth Revan (pre-memory wipe)

There are so many cool characters they could make figures of. The fish guys on Manaan would make great figures, and there's lots of cool droids I'd like to have.

Not to pimp my own creation too much,

But if you guys are customizing at all, and have an inkling to make some X-Wing: Alliance figures, I recently made a reference gallery that was posted over at www.ffurg.com with images of most of the main characters within that game.

http://www.ffurg.com/references/xwa.htm

There's the link to the gallery...

Here's an image of a single character from the game.

(http://www.ffurg.com/references/xwa/Dunari.jpg)

Hope this turns out to help some customizers...

I'd love it if Hasbro considered making characters from:

X-Wing
TIE Fighter
X-Wing: Alliance
Force Commander
Bounty Hunter (AWESOME game)
Dark Forces
Jedi Knight
Mysteries of the Sith
Jedi Outcast
Jedi Academy (Imagine a "Build your own Jedi" Kit!?)

To me, these are all games rich with characters to make...  Many of them "army building" type characters too, who would translate fairly well into the basic Saga line I believe.

I'd like KOTOR as well, but my only reservation on that line is the era it takes place in.  Very much out of the loop that most of the other figures are from in the modern line.  I'd still like a lot of figures from that game as well though.

Anyone from the GB game and Clone Wars game would be nice. Cmon Hasbro!

i havent played those games, but it would be nice for hasbro to make some EU stuff from the clone wars, although they've already started which is nice.

-Dark Forces/Jedi Knight:

Maybe save for the Reborn and Cultists variants, I'd get them all and would still be begging for more.

Moff Rebus (Dark Forces)
Crix Madine (Dark Forces)
Grave Tusken (Jedi Knight)
Abron Mar (Mysteries of the Sith)
Desann (Jedi Outcast)
Tavion (Jedi Outcast)
Tavion (Jedi Academy)
Rosh Panin (Jedi Academy)

The list goes on....

I like your idea of a accessory pack and really like how you listed how Kyle manages to lug that stuff around with him. I'd add a broken DT Weapon to the list that he recovers from Tak Base as well as the Bowcaster.

A 12" Kyle from Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II with loads of accessories would be awesome.

Let me echo the sentiments for a line of Knights Of The Old Republic figures.  This is by far one of the best games LucasArts has ever made, and the characters really hold up.

It's by far one of the best because they had nothing to do with the development, just the publishing. I hope KotOR II: The Sith Lords is just as great. Perhaps after that is released (scheduled for winter of this year, I'm not holding my breath), they'll make a few characters from both games?
Title: Republic Commando 4-Pack!
Post by: Omega Squad Commander on June 10, 2005, 03:29 PM
I read so many times the idea for a Republic Commando figure, but if Hasbro gonna issue the Republic Commandos, they have to think in a 4-Pack. Here is why....

OS Databank: Expanded Universe (http://www.starwars.com/databank/organization/clonecommando/?id=eu)

Quote
The Kaminoans encountered a great deal of difficulty with the independent and hard-to-command ARC troopers. Eventually the experimental soldiers were relegated to stasis fields and work was begun on a new type of warrior: the clone commando.
Veering away from rogue clone individuals, the Kaminoans took as their example the fiercely efficient hunting pods of the native aiwha. Candidates were plucked from the regular clone batch, and segregated into groups of four. During their training and education, these "pods" were kept together, forced to depend upon each other, and pitted against other pods in combat. The Kaminoans soon found they had a number of small squads, each highly-trained and fiercely-cohesive, yet divisible into smaller units for varied mission profiles. Ultimately, neither the regular army clones nor the ARC troopers could match them when it came to organization and team-work. The experiment was a success.

OS Databank: Behind The Scenes (http://www.starwars.com/databank/organization/clonecommando/?id=bts)

Quote
The clone commando emerged as something "in-between" the two extremes of ARC trooper and clone trooper. Writer Justin Lambros summarized the relationship like this: "If you've got a problem, you can send one ARC trooper, you can send one hundred clone troopers, or you can send a squad of four clone commandos."

To me I think the only way hasbro will make figures from the video games is if we continue to keep asking them at every convention. And if they can find a cheaper way to put them into retail. like selling them it two or three packs. or even use the same kb toys idea ad sell entire sets of all characters from one game in one set.

With Video Games and even the Comics and Novels allowed in for action figures, we'd NEVER have a shortage of Sith again!
