JM, that sucks! Maybe too many people tried at once all of a sudden?

I am part owner in a comic shop, so I had all the stuff needed to answer
questions. Might try selling some of the next series in the shop, not sure
yet. The remote R2s would probably have sold, everyone loved them.
We tried with Marvel and DC Kubs, but no one was very interested in them.
Hopefully, someday, the shop will do enough business that I can quit my
regular job and do that full time... I hope its soon!  :D

I basically told him I dealt in Star Wars collectibles as a side business (totally untrue, mind you), and planned on ordering a couple Master Cases of the Kubricks for each new series that came out.  That was about the jist of it.

So either you guys seriously lied your asses off in your applications, or the dude is catching on to our little scheme here.  Based on that response there, I'd guess most/all of you are going to get your memberships suspended after you order Series 5...  :-\

i provided them with some evidence that i was selling toys as a side business and there were no problems.. maybe jst take a pic of ur local comic shop and tell them that's ur shop!

Cool little suckers there!

On another note, it looks like we've finally managed to nail down the current market value on some of the high-end carded stuff, since a seller actually had the balls enough to list the Vader and the Sandtrooper without a BIN on them.  Check it out:

$242 carded Sandtrooper

$220 carded Vader

EDIT:  Well, duh.  We know that seller!  8)  Were those yours, or did you recently purchase someone's collection, or just come across an extra of them for a good price?  Hopefully one of the latter choices there...

Oh my God!  These Kubricks go for that much?  Damn!  I guess I won't try to go after these things afterall.  Wow!  Those are on par with the vintage Kenner line.  Yikes!

Actually, these are the extreme of the price range for the basic Kubrick figure line.  A couple of really rare Carded Figures (these two plus a Fett) command $200+, but most of the other figures are much more reasonable...  except for the chase figures.  Those are spendy too.   :-\

Well that really bites Matt. If I get canned, back to HLJ I go, no membership and no questions.  ;)

Yeah, them carded Kuby's command a high price when they come out but in time slowly drop.

The carded Fett when it came out was going for over $400. and the Sandtrooper I think was over $300. Big bucks but it was worth it in the end.  ;)

They were both damaged to some degree. The Sandtrooper I knew was damaged when I bought it about a year ago, but I recenly bought another one that is in better condition, so I sold it. The Vader got damaged in transit after I bought and paid for it. The seller refunded me a fair bit of it to me so it worked out well.

FYI, I had a reseve and a BIN on it. Does that make me balless???  ;)

I did notice the reserve there, but I guess it was pretty reasonable since it was met.  What'd you have the BIN's at though?  I assume lower than what they ultimately went for, huh?  I didn't read through the rest of your auction descriptions there Simon, to notice that these things were both a little less than mint, so I guess that's not quite the "actual" market value on some mint ones after all.  Bummer, since I was happy to say they'd dropped a good amount more, and was finally getting close to taking a sniff of them!  ;)

And yeah, Brian, don't sweat those carded pieces, or even the chase/secret figures.  If you just grab the regular wave of 6 Kubrick figures for each series, they can be had for under $50 (less than $10 each), if you're patient.  Not too bad, really.

As for Robby.jp, I guess I'll just be sticking with my original HLJ order, I think.  I dunno...

Ya' know, I'm starting to think that I don't really need to display that "transition" Vader in the middle there.  I think maybe I really only need two of them, one with helmet, and one without.

What's everyone else doing on that piece?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep all 4 Vaders:

I like Jesse's display, but I only kept two.  One for full Vader, one for Anakin (you know, the real one).

Despite liking that display, I may downsize to 3 Vaders - keep all 3 for the first shot and replace Vader with the Emperor in the 2nd shot.  But I'm going to have to think a while longer.

OK, I'm keeping 'em all.   8)
