DC Collectibles Launches New Line of 'Injustice' 3 3/4" Action Figures

Quote
Adding to the excitement around next year’s launch of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s “Injustice: Gods Among Us” game, DC Collectibles will be releasing an all new line of highly detailed and articulated 3 3/4” action figures based on characters from the game.  The first round of two-pack sets will be released in April 2013 and will feature Green Arrow paired with Deathstroke, and Wonder Woman paired with Solomon Grundy. Each set costs $29.95.

The launch of this new line follows DC Collectibles successful run of 3 3/4” action figures as Con exclusives during 2012.  The Injustice line will be available broadly at comic book retailers and online at www.shopdccollectibles.com. Keep an eye out for more Injustice two-pack sets coming from DC Collectibles very soon!

Hmmm...  I am not the biggest fan of the Arkham City/Arkham Asylum/Injustice video game costumes, so it's kind of a bummer they are going with that version of Green Arrow here.   I do however love the part where it says these sets will be "available broadly at comic book retailers and online".  Bodes well for the futre of the line.

I'm not sure I'll be picking up the Arrow/Deathstroke or WW/Grundy sets for $30, but I'll keep my eye on the line for sure to see what else tey have planned.

Sandtroopers.com have posted a few comparison photos of the new, smaller-scaled 2013 Class II ships.

It will be interesting to see how well these sell... they will certainly be more affordable at $20 compared to this year's $30, but the smaller sizes on some of them (Slave I, I'm looking at you) is so ridiculous that most collectors are going to just laugh and ignore these.   :-\

Discover the Force / Movie Heroes / 2013 Movie Heroes Class I Vehicles
« on: September 4, 2012, 03:37 PM »
I really liked what I saw for the Class I series at Celebration 6.  Adding a second figure and rounding them up to $20 seems like a better deal when you compare them to what we get for $18 now or even compared to the current 3-figure BPs for $23.

The little Yoda ship was nifty (love the fact that you can swap the astro-dome on the ship with any BAD dome) and also loved how the MTT Droid Fighter fits right into the MTT.  Makes the MTT just a bit cooler, despite it coming with yet another Ep1 Obi-Wan.

And glad to see the Clone Dropship as well.  I'll be skipping frantically searching for the (currently) VHTF Clone Wars version and just grab this new 'movie' version when it hits next Spring.

Star Wars 1313 - what is it?  ???

'Star Wars 1313' URL buy-up spurs hopes about Boba Fett movie, but Lucasfilm won't say 'at this time.' What could it be?

Anyone want to join the rampant internet speculation that's out there trying to guess what this is...?

Discover the Force / Movie Heroes / 2012 Movie Heroes Battle Packs
« on: February 13, 2012, 04:31 PM »
Looking over the Toy Fair stuff again today...  what's the deal with Hasbro apparently announcing two new movie Battle Packs for the Fall?  Something about a new Naboo 3-pack and new Bespin 3-pack?  I haven't read too much on those, but I guess there must have been some mention of them at the collector event?

592
Spun off from the rumors thread...
Hmmm... closer inspection reveals that there are SIX with duplicate numbers (updated the list above).  And one from each movie...

EP1 JAR JAR
EPII CLONE LIEUTENANT
EPIII CLONE
EPIV SANDTROOPER
EPV PRINCESS LEIA
EPVI DARTH VADER

Hmmm.  A mystery, we have.

Tweets from the Hasbro show are suggesting that these six figures will be on some sort of retro look card using some kind of lost Kenner graphics or something...    Apparently some sort of "Carbonite Freeze Chamber" box set packaging at 2012 SDCC and then the regular carded figures will be available at retail singly (like they did with the 2011 SDCC Death Star / Revenge set I assume).

GalacticHunter tweeted a pic of the card art for the set...  the presentaion slide says:
"Recreation of a "Lost" Line Look from the Kenner Vault!
Carbonite Freezing Chamber Package
6 highly articulated single carded 3 3/4" figures, one from each film
plus a new exclusive figure"

Sounds like possibly a "JarJar Carbonite Block" will potentially only be available in the SDCC set (like Salacious and Mouse Droid in the 2011 set were).  Watch for more details from Toy Fair soon! :)

The Vintage Collection / Toy Fair 2012
« on: February 7, 2012, 11:31 AM »
So... this weekend already!  And we don't even have a thread yet?  Crazy!  What do you hope/expect to see?

I'm expecting them to have that MTT there and ready to show off and I'm hoping we get a good look at some of the VC figures on RS's rumor list...  but, with SDCC, Celebration VI, and NYCC all coming later this year, I'm not going to be surprised if they end up having to hold a lot of the Fall stuff back for those shows. :(

I'd really like to see...
Toy Fair = Full Spring 2012 product line for VC and CW, preview of stuff for Fall including the con/show exclusives
SDCC = Full Fall 2012 product line for VC and CW
Celebration 6 = Spring 2013 product preview for VC and CW
NYCC = all the AOTC 3D re-issue crap product

But, who knows how they will choose to break things up this year...

And a quick note on JD's planned coverage:
Unfortunately, I can't be in NY this weekend to cover the show (ending my streak at 4 in a row :(), but I think we will still have some coverage and pics of hte Hasbro event here at JD thanks to a NY forumite who has volunteered to try to get down to the Hasbro show for us.

HBO and Dark Horse Announce Game of Thrones Partnership!

Quote
One of the most popular and critically acclaimed cable television shows of 2011 was Game of Thrones, created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. The hit series is based on A Song of Ice and Fire, the best-selling fantasy novel series by George R. R. Martin.

Dark Horse Deluxe is proud to announce, in partnership with HBO, a vast Game of Thrones product line debuting in the spring of 2012, leading up to the show’s second-season premiere in April. Licensed product categories derived from the series will span a large range, including statues, busts, and action figures; prop and jewelry replicas; and barware, stationery, and other collectibles. This exciting new line of products debuts with a range of branded magnets, patches, playing cards, coaster sets, and more.

“We are delighted to be part of HBO’s licensing roster for Game of Thrones. We are big fans of the television adaptation,” said Dark Horse’s VP of Product Development, David Scroggy. “We are working closely with HBO to develop a line of products inspired by the series that will delight the fan base.”

Look for the first round of items in Diamond’s January Previews catalog; they will arrive in specialty retailers everywhere in March of 2012.

Based on the best-selling fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin, Game of Thrones debuted on HBO in March 2011. In a land where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime, trouble is brewing. From the scheming south and the savage eastern lands, to the frozen north and the ancient Wall that protects the realm from the darkness beyond, two powerful families are engaged in a deadly cat-and-mouse game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. As betrayal, lust, intrigue, and supernatural forces shake the four corners of the Kingdoms, their bloody struggle for the Iron Throne will have unforeseen and far-reaching consequences.

I am so, so , so all over a Ned Stark action figure for my desk.  :)

RIP, Saga Legends.   :-\

Welcome, Movie Heroes.

From the Q&A at SWAN:
"There will be three packaging line looks in 2012 - Movie Heroes, which includes Episode 1 and all other episodes; The Clone Wars Animated, and the Vintage Collection.  Saga Legends is being replaced by Movie Heroes as the assortment that includes characters from all six films."

Nice to see them confirm how many lines there will be and how they are planning to use that new Maul card design that popped up a while back... should be interested in see the Legends repacks on that new Maul card alongside some of the new TPM stuff (like that Walmart exlcusive wave is supposed to be).
