Plenty of Galactic Heros talk lately:

1.  Hasbro tells jedinews why the AT-AT got delayed:  They couldn't fit it on the reduced shelfspace at big retail.  If it happens again next year, they may try it out at an unspecified (TRU) exclusive retailer.

2.  Rebelscum gets the Anakin Starfighter, ROJ Falcon, and Endor Celebration sets (plus some others we already knew were out) on hand for their photo archives.  Are these trickling out, then?  I've never known Rebelscum to get ahold of GH items before they're released.

3.  Collection Station has to be directly told what we already knew:  we aren't getting plastic playsets for GH any sooner than we will for 3.75.  The cardboard Cinema Scenes are it.

4.  Hasbro warms up to a request from jedinews to try scaled down podracers with pilots in the GH line.   ;D ;D ;D This has been at the very tip-top of my wants list for years.  The tastefully deformed GH line is the only line I could ever imagine succeeding with collectible podracers alongside collectible pilots.  Heck, this is the only line I can imagine getting an attractive pod chariot alongside attractive pod engines.  Those dumb vehicles can hardly even fit on the screen all at once.  I SOOO hope this happens.

5.  In the same set of questions, Hasbro doesn't rule out a jedinews request for troop-building Cinema Scenes.  Meh.  If you don't have enough GH clones, I don't know what to tell you.  I'm all for troops as dupes as long as we have to live with dupes anyway, but to actually ask for entire Cinema Scenes to be built around like Obi-wan, one new fig, and 6 orange clones?

6.  Also in the same set, we are devastated and stunned to learn that no GH Gunships are in the works for the next couple years, at least.   :'(

Any love for GH at SDCC?  Did I miss the photos somewhere?

Found the Rebo set at my TRU.  As a lifelong Max fan, I am pleased.

Rebo definitely steals the show in that set.  Was tempted to pick it up last week, but $25 just seems like too much for only 2 new figs.

Rebelscum finally posted some Galactic Heroes pics to their gallery.  Nothing you didn't already know, for the most part.  I did note:

1.  First picture of new Kit Fisto I think I've seen? (tunic/no cloak)
3.  Spirit Anakin is Hayden Christianson Anakin, and either an all new mold or a nice retool of like Agen Kolar or somebody.

yawn.

Gotta get Rebo and Droopy.  8)  I guess this leaves Sy Snootles to show up later...

Yeah, she's in 2010's set: Rebo, McCool, Snootles, and 4 Boba Fetts.   ;)

Man, there are going to be a lot of new Cinema Scene sets for Christmas time -

- TRU Kamino Showdown (no ship, just figures)
- TRU Purchase of the Droids (no ship, just figures)
- Anakin's CW Jedi Starfighter
- Obi-Wan's Ep3 Jedi Starfighter
- Endor Assault (with Ewok Glider and figures)
- Slave I with Carbonite Han
- Jabba's Sali Barge (no ship, just figures)
- Yavin IV Medal Ceremony (no ship, just figures)
- RotJ Millennium Falcon

That's like $240+ in GH Cinema Scenes alone, not even counting all the 2-packs that I'm sure are coming as well.

Oh yeah, if this is still coming, don't forget to add it into your budget
- Endor Celebration (Village Leia, Spirits, repacks)

I wonder if the ROTJ falcon will have re-recorded electronics?  Exclusive General Lando seems guaranteed.   :-\

Ooooh, also, is it just me, or in yet another big vintage wink - did they cast that carbonite block in a much darker gray?

You guys only buying the Cinema Scenes are making the right move.  If you end up wanting to go back and get a complete loose set in a few years, it'll probably end up only requiring like 10 more figures for $30 tops.  The only minor question is what to do about X-Wing, Falcon, and JSF re-releases.  Do you even want them taking up space in your house?

ETA. per Jeff's post below:  Wow, two extra rebels never hurt!  Also, new paint on the Falcon.  Also, hurray for the linked pics that show two more R. Fleet Troopers in the Medal set.

...  I'm wondering what the pack will contain, since we usually only get a couple "new" figures per pack.  A new Luke most likely, and possibly Leia as well, with repacks of Han, Chewie, Dodonna, and maybe the droids or something.

I dunno, the new 8-packs they've been revealing have been having about 2 new figures PLUS as many as 2 more repaints/ minor retools.  Sure, we can grimly count on super useless 3PO, R2, and Chewie... but that leaves 5 interesting slots.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for all new Luke and Leia, Han with added medal, and Dodonna (many won't be sad to see him) - leaving still one more spot for MAYBE an "honor guard" repaint of the upcoming fleet trooper.

Hasbro also snuck this tidbit into a Q&A reply for Galactic Hunter:

"We have a Galactic Heroes multi-pack lined up for the Medal Ceremony..."

Random rave:  kudos to whomever designed/ wrote instructions for the newer battle packs.

We've been picking up the $9.99 "battle packs" that have been out for the last 1-2 years (going back to the 30th anniversery packaging).  These are the ones that come with like 5 troopers and a mini-rig type custom design.  We'd been building them with my oldest (he just had his 5th birthday), but he had always needed a fair amount of help...

Not so with the newer 8015 pack (IG-Assassin droids).  The improvements are subtle, but very clever and very significant:  fewer peices added per step, distinctive colors for the hidden, interior peices (obvious which peices are new in each step, easy to find from the pile), and there's even one step where a single-stud peice is added just to keep the correct spacing of other pieces obvious.  It's not a simpler design, it's just designed with instruction-clarity in mind.

It all made a BIG difference (plus, I guess he's older now), and he was actually able to put the thing together unsupervised!  Great experience.

Boy, they freaking nailed it.  Lightsaber zipper... intestine lining... just enough detail on the outside to pull off the look without ruining the basic sleeping bag shape or function... that's a seriously high quality fake product.

Has anybody else had the cashier at Wal-mart receive a weird prompt from his machine to inspect the new Cinema Scenes when ringing them up?  I got this at both Wal-Marts where I found the latest sets.  My best guess is that collectors were over-labelling expensive 3.75 ships' UPCs with similar Galactic Hero UPCs (probably a bunch of BMF Falcons ringing up as the $30 GH Wal-Mart Falcon).

I saw the AT-AT set at a couple of Targets today.  Strangely, no signs of the new 2 packs at Target yet (at least locally).

If you're seeing the AT-AT Driver 2-pack, you probably are seeing "signs" of the new 2-packs... and you simply got there after they were snatched up.  The Driver ships in the Wave 5 - Rev 0 case that stores are getting now (and hasn't been in any other cases that I can remember lately).

Saw Jar Jar, Luminara, and Spider Droid sets earlier today at a local WM (the bubble was crushed on each one  :().

Weird, I saw Jar Jar and Mace* for the first time yesterday, and the bubble was also crushed on both.

I'm not thrilled with the thinner parts, more articulation direction of the GH line lately.  If a GH figure can't stand or might break, what's the point of Galactic Heroes?

*Edited to correct that I, of course, saw Mace, not Luminara... who obviously would have been worth picking up.

I noticed the newer sets (Porkins X-Wing/Snowspeeder) are up at HTS right now, at $21.99 each, for anyone interested.  I have to say that the Snowspeeder set is one of my favorites of the line, and I look forward to if/when that AT-AT set is released.

Looks like they're calling Jek's droid "R5-D8", which is consistent with what's been used in the past.  I think reference seems to show the body with the horizontal panels blue [instead of red] and vertical panels down the side unpainted white [instead of red]... but Hasbro's almost certainly right to just toss R5-D4 in there and call it a day.  I'm happy.  Plus, maybe this is the thing that finally gets me to grab a paint brush and get working.  I've got at least one spare 2-leg R2-D2 that I'd love to turn into Wedge's or Biggs's droid.

What's list-keeper/ figure-counter policy for when Hasbo markets the same, not repainted, figure by two different character names?  Listed as a single R5-D4/R5-D8?  listed twice, as an R5-D4 and an R5-D8?

I'm not giving the X-wing to my boys, but I'd rather they had it instead of the electronic one.  The longer nose, always open foils, and detachable cannons all make it a little clumsy [but the sounds ROCK].  A Red 5 and generic-ish X-Wing both of the smaller mold would have made a better pair than their 2 Red 5s.

I noticed this report at RS showing/discussing "baggied" single packed Galactic Heroes, sold with a trading card (and in trading card fashion the way it looks).  Its certainly an interesting idea, and could be cool for kiddos creating a trading network for the little Galactic Heroes figures.  I have memories of my card collecting days of buying several packs or a box and having like 11 Darth Vaders or something :).

I have very recent memories of buying Galactic Heroes in totally clear window Cinema Scenes and having like 11 Darth Vaders.   :P

Yeah, I came up with 5 releases:

1.  Playskool X-Wing Adventure (Closable S-Foils Red 5) - 2002
2.  GH X-Wing Fighter (Electronic Red 5) - 2004
3.  Assault on the Death Star '07 (Biggs set with Closable S-Foils Red 5) - 2007
4.  Dagobah Landing (Swampy-Paint on Closable S-Foils Red 5) - 2008
5.  Assault on the Death Star '09 (Porkins set with [Red 6? Electronic red 5?]) - 2009

Anybody seen the second wave of Clone Wars 2-Packs (Luminara et al.) yet?
