Kubricks / Re: Deluxe Series 1 - Jabba's Palace
« on: October 24, 2009, 10:15 PM »
I can't believe they would include a unique Jabba piece with the case chase kubrick figure.  That would mean only 1 complete Jabba could be built per case.  Then Jabba himself, the complete verison of him anyway, would also be one per case.  And that doesn't make any sense, since the whole idea of this new Deluxe series is the ability to build the Jabba, which couldn't happen if there were chase build parts.

I think if there are any chase kubrick figurs in this series, they must come with the same build-a-part that comes with the regular kubrick figure in the case that they replace.  E.g: Let's say Jedi Luke comes with Jabba's head.  and Nikto is a chase figure you find randomly in the Jedi Luke box.  Nikto would then also come with a Jabba's head build-piece.

Logically, this makes the most sense to me.  And also, it's what I'm hoping for.  Since, if the chase figure also comes with a chase build-a-part, that will make the chase figures even MORE expensive then they would be already.

Those look excellent.  Earlier pics made me think Amanaman would be too tall, but based on that first group shot, it appears that he'll  fit in a standard individual kubrick display case.

It's not Star Wars, but the KISS 4-pack has just been released.  Should be receiving mine in a couple days.

Here's what they would look like if they were all stacked together.  ;D
(minus the 32 that didn't complete a full segment, and another 13 new ones not yet received.)

Yeah, I'll probably end up hanging groups of them on the wall like framed pictures.  And as far as the back rows, they're more accessible than they look.  Plus, I snapped photos of each wall, so I can see em any time.  :)  Here's one:

Here's the latest pic of my entire collection:  ;D

Don't really have a good display option just yet, so for now they live as a series of 'walls' ('cept for that lone carded Indy).

Agreed.  There's a lot of glare in that last photo, but up the page a bit is another better shot, and to me, it appears that MAce is showing some teeth in the final product.  Could we get a closeup of your Mace for comfirmation?  (My set is secure, but my guy only ships out at the end of the month.  So, still waiting ...)

I think it was worth pointing out that the last two carded figure series were re-releases of the individually boxed series 1 and 2, so the next likely carded RE-release would be the series 3 figures.  However, there has certainly been a precedent set for new unique carded figures, namely the Boba Fett series, although that was also released as individually boxed figures as well.  And we have also seen new single figures released on cards only: shadow stormtrooper, blue snowtrooper, etc., but I think these have been all, or mostly, repaints, haven't they?

So, in general, new (i.e., previously unreleased) figures on cards is still a possibility, which to me is what I think bigj was getting at.  So, who knows what's next for new carded series?  Did anyone predict a Boba Fett series?  That was a total surprise to me.  I like them but personally would have preferred the variety of a multi-character series instead.

My guess is that he probably thought he typed '4' for '124' but hit either the '5', '7', or '8' key by mistake to actually bid 125, 127, or 128, to have placed the 124.50 bid.  In any case, all good prices for Yakkie.   :D

Just picked up the Speeder Bike scout trooper for $32 myself.  I also had my eye on the speeder Leia, as the paper cape on mine is rolling up and I was considering a replacement, but now I'm glad I didn't break up the set for you.  I checked the bid history earlier and saw that the same person was the current high bidder on both.  Congrats to both of us.    :D

...btw. Speaking of which, why the cough with the white version...  ???

I initially didn't include the all-white verison in my second "other droids" pic, then went back and updated the pic to include it after I saw Symposium's message.  Mainly for completeness, but also to sneakily avoid the fact that he was pointing out my oversight (and to jokingly get a rise out of him...  ;)  Sorry for the confusion.

EDIT: Symposium, ya beat me to it.   >:(  ;D

Then there are these, which use the same molds, but are, of course, different droids.   ;D

My guy in Hong Kong said the chase Dr. Manhattan was 1:96.  These are out in Hong Kong now (he said they got an early release), but not yet in Japan.  He only knows about the individual blind boxes, but if there are indeed 3-packs for US distribution (like the Halo 4-packs), I doubt he'd know about that.

I'm tempted to get these now from overseas, but I'd be kicking myself if the much cheaper 3-packs, and 1:4 Dr. Manhattan chases, started appearing stateside.

One of the chases is Dr. Manhattan in a suit.  Don't know of any others yet.
