The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Disney Buys LFL

Hasbro is not a division of Disney.  They are likely eliminating redundancy, something that would happen in any merger of this type.

I think that anything that is not family friendly will be shuttered.  The "adult" games?  Cancelled.  TCW, while marketed to children, was not at all in the same family friendly "place" that the OT and even TPM is.  The violence in this show was over the line, even when compared to RotS.

Whether the vocal internet adult fans like it or not, SW is a family brand, and Disney will now bring it back to where it was and the changes that have slowly crept in since RotS and Lucas lost interest in the brand will be turned around.  You won't see Family guy parodying any more, and that is also why Detours was shut down.

I'll miss Ebert.  I saw this video of him and Gene Siskel debating the merits of the Star Wars films.  Funny how many "critics" of the films sound like this old fuddy duddy:

I just wish they'd do a sequel to Incredibles.  That's the one I actually want!
This times one million.

I liked it a lot.  Captured the essence of the source material very well.  A little cheese but not the 10,00Lbs the first film had.  Definitely apparent that the creative team had a lot of reverence for the ARAH era.  Still would it kill them to say "Yo Joe!" instead of "HooRah!"?  There was also a PERFECT opportunity to slip in an "a real American hero" reference at the end that they missed out on.

For anyone curious, there was no after-credits coda.

I've got an incomplete AT-TE and a gunship.  I looked at ebay sellers' repro missile prices and said "i don't care that much".
Yup.  That is where I'm at.  This is a prett impressive toy, but man is that front half a total wast of space.  They could have done a lot more.

The only problem is those missiles would cost around $30-40 for repros to make it complete.  Perhaps I'll wait until Hasbro reissues and see if I can get parts through their CS department.

Not really vintage, but...
I went into a local Goodwill this past Saturday morning and I hit the jackpot!  I am not actively collecting, but I still buy interesting toys for my son for when he gets a little older, particularly when there is a deal.

Anyway, there was this box that reams of paper come in, celophaned over the top and it contained what looked to be a pretty complete AT-TE.  I bought it and found that aside from the 7 missles, this toy was complete, and in perfect shape.  Also in the box was a complete AAT, a General Greivous figure, and five different clone wars TV clone trooper action figures.

How much was this haul?

A whopping $4!!!

If only my employer were as forgetful with decimal points.  ;)

The figure I forgot was the Imperial Naval Commander.

I grabbed a Malgus, DS Luke and Lando, Darth Vader and...  one other that is escaping me at this moment... on the final $499 day at TRU.

Well, it's been fun guys (and gals....well, mostly guys). It seems that the Clone Wars toy line is dead, and the cartoon along with it. My days of trolling the boards will most likely come to a close. My son will likely be too old to think toys are cool when Ep.7 comes out, and with only a handful of episodes left we will just have to find other ways to enjoy our time together before he becomes a young man that no longer needs his dad. This is a sad moment for me. The Clone Wars gave me a second chance to power-walk to the toy section and cross my fingers that a new and exciting Star Wars figure would be dangling from the pegs. But more importantly, it gave me an excuse to lock myself away on one side of the house with my boy and just have a great time creating battles and adventures. He still asks me to play "Clone Wars" every Saturday morning. Will that last another year, or two? Now that new episodes are gone, I don't know. But I am going to get the most out of it that I can.

It has been great interacting with so many Clone Wars fans, and I will miss the fun. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and stories over the years. New adventures of the Clone Wars will be seen on a live performance basis only for the immediate future at our household, and I guess that is all I could ever ask for.

Thank you Jedidefender. It has been great.

Damn.  I don't even want to think about the day where my son moves on.  Enjoy every minute with that boy, and I think someday he'll realize just how lucky he is to have such a great dad.

I don't think Rick believe the Guv...  But he is haunted by the ramifications of some of his decisions, so he's questioning himself.  What if he could secure his family's safety by giving up someone he's not very close to?  What if he is wrong about the governor not being sincere?

I read the novel Rise of the Governor, and I think it dovetails into the comic continuity, but there is nothing that would contradict anything on the TV version.  In this novel, the entire backstory of how Phillip became the man who would lead Woodbury is explored, including his wife.

That is why I never say this show is about the zombies.  The zombies are the reason for the collapse of societal norms, and an ever-present danger.  This story is about the characters, and about what happens when law and order goes away, and they do a good job keeping it fresh, so while the plot on paper is repetitious, the series does not feel that way.
