At least that is what I remember the battle cry being :). This was another toy/cartoon from the 80s that came up when my friend and I were talking about our childhoods the other day. Did any of you have these figures as a kid (or even now)? For some reason, I only had/have Panthro, who was my favorite...not sure why I didn't have more, I remember watching this show all the time (as well as another show called Silverhawks)...maybe it was just bad timing. Anyways, I remember Cartoon Network used to show this show once in awhile when I was still in college...wouldn't mind seeing it make a comeback ala MOTU. Anyways, I was just curious if anyone else remembers/liked this toy line/cartoon...and thought we could discuss it here. I wouldn't mind seeing the toyline make a comeback in the Four Horseman style, although I don't know if I could afford buying it...it would still be cool to see :).
-
Yeah, you hear that, ho? Thundercats.
I think this is the only big 80's property I never got into. The local comic shop had a few old figures on display and I had never actually seen the toys, so that was pretty cool. They only had Panthro and Mumm-Ra, if I remember correctly.
-
Yeah, you hear that, ho? Thundercats.
LOL! When I saw that in Toyfare with Chris Tucker's pic I fell on the floor laughing. :D
-
That pic is the first thing that came to my mind when entering this thread. Damn, I love Toyfare.
-
Damn, we hella killed this thread. I found a Mumm-Ra at my local comic shop last week, loose without accessories, for $12. They also had a Man-At-Arms in the same condition for $11. Talk about out of touch.
-
What was the Water based cartoon from the same people? I liked Thundercats for a while and for some reason dug Panthro as well, i think I may have even had a figure. But this whole line and cartoon pulls at no strings these days and I am glad because I don't need to collect anything else!
-
What was the Water based cartoon from the same people?
The Snorks?
-
No Snorks were Smurfs Underwater...Battlesharks?
-
Snorks was the only underwater cartoon I remember. I never heard of Battlesharks.
-
I vaguely remember Battlesharks too, but I don't think I watched it. I kind of remember that Snorks cartoon, much like Smurfs, like was said. Actually my wife's younger sister used to be nicknamed Snorks, don't ask me why :).
-
Actually my wife's younger sister used to be nicknamed Snorks, don't ask me why :).
Does she have an appendage growing out of her head? If so, that's probably why. If not, who knows.
-
It wasn't Battlesharks either...something like that though
Thundercats, this water one and another cartoon was like in an hour block of Cartoons all made by the same people and sorta like He-Man all made to sell toys
-
I know the same people that made Thundercats did a little thingy called Silverhawks, where goofballs walked around in chrome bird suits. Pretty wacky, but it was also 1987.
-
OK...it was called Tigersharks!

From the article at TNI: (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=1&itemid=9768)
"Warner Bros. is also working on securing new licensees to re-launch the '80s animated series, The Thundercats. Warner Bros. has the classic as well as new licensee to develop product for children, including an updated Thundercats look and collectibles for early fans."
I'll finally be able to get a Snarf figure!
Frankly I'm excited about all this... America needs Thundercats now more than ever.
-
Awesome news indeed, i hope they somehow get the 4HM to sculpt them.
-
Dude!! I am so there. I've got just about the whole original set. Minus Lion-O for some reason. I'm not sure I ever got him. Panthro was the original P-I-M-P!! Im definately going to get that one.
-
This is indeed great news...I 'm wondering how a new and improved Mum-ra would look...
-
I was looking at the T-Shirts at Target today and what do I see? A Thundecats T-Shirt! Needless to say I picked it up and am proudly wearing it right now. Could this be a sign of a upcoming onslaught of Thundercats merchandise? I hope so!
THUNDERCATS, THUNDERCATS, THUNDERCATS HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
-
Here's hoping we get some news at SDCC.
-
If this does get off the ground, what would your preffered scale be? Mine would be around 5-6, compatible with the 80's figures. Sculpted by the Four Horsemen. That's be sweet. Hopefully the line won't be saturated with endless variations of Lion-O and Mumm-Ra and bomb like MOTU.

More TCats news at Ain't It Cool: (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=24232)
WB animation is remaking the Thundercats as an animated TV series.
The animation style is whimsical, Americanized-anime, along the lines of Teen Titans.
The setting is modern-day Earth, in a major city (possibly LA)
The Thundercats are all teenagers.
Their leader is Snarf (!) who is now a mystic with a "third" eye.
Each of the Thundercats has a weapon with an "Eye of Thunderra" and transformative powers (not just Lion-O)
When they aren't fighting evil, the Thundercats play together as a rock band. That's not a typo, or a joke. They are rockin' cats in their present form.
Mum-Ra now has wings.
And I bet he laughs a bit more than he used to =P
Developing...
Thundercats as a rock band?? Anime-ish animation?? Thundercats in LA?? WTF??
I'll probably get some of the inevitable figures just out of my loyalty to Lion-O, but I'll have to see if the new cartoon will be any good.
At least I'll still have my TCats DVD sets to watch I suppose...
-
Wow, that sounds pretty terrible.
I could handle pretty much everything else, but the rock band thing is just too strange.
-
Wow, that sounds pretty terrible.

Agreed. That's the part of the rumor mix that really had me saying "what?". The rock band thing is just a little too out there, not to mention some of the other aspects. I really hope that this isn't true. I miss the days when I was first in college, and Cartoon Network used to replay the old Thundercats cartoon sometimes - I believe in their "Toonami" lineup or something. The DVDs are just too pricey, but it would be fun to see some of those episodes again.
-
I received the Thundercats: Enemy's Pride TPB for my birthday.
-
Lion-O looks, well, odd...
Don't quite know what to make of it. At least it retains some of the original design, I suppose...
-
:P Maybe in the sword and insignia, and that's it :-\ I love the Thundercats, but I don't know what to make of this :-\
-
I've got a bad feeling about this.

loving the thundercats

Sounds like the Thundercats (http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/101993-new-thundercats-series-to-air-in-2011) could be making a comeback. A new animated series has been announced (2011), could a toy line be far behind?

Answering myself here, but apparently Bandai (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=291&itemid=15941) has gotten the master toy license for the new series.
-
crap - there may be a toy line from a toy company other than Hasbro that is gonna suck me in!
-
Eh...Bandai. I like the look of their Ben 10 stuff but I don't think I'd be interested in this line.
E...
-
Damn I am so heart broken that Bandai got the rights. Why could it be Mattel and the 4HM :-[ >:(
-
New Thundercats series (http://comicbookmovie.com/thundercats/news/?a=28751), coming later this year.

-
crap..... that looks too cool. this really might rope me in to another toy line....
:P ;D
-
Cheetara's still kind of hot. :P
Couldn't really tell much about the figures from the photos that got snuck out of the UK Toy Fair yesterday but they look to be about the size of the Ben 10 figures. Anyone see any good, clear shots of the figures?

I like the look of the series so far (haven't seen the toys), and I'm glad to see the property is coming back. I was a big fan as a kid, and even remember catching the series again on the old "Toonami" block on Cartoon Network around the time when I was in college. I picked up the first DVD set when Amazon had it on a sale for like $20, but haven't had a chance to watch them all yet.
I'm really trying to steer clear of adding any new toy lines to the collection at this point, besides what I already collect, but I'll admit that Thundercats would be tempting. I might be able to avoid it since it will be in the style of the new series, but if there was a MOTU Classics type line of Thundercats, I'd probably be tempted to get a few. We'll see I guess. I do hope the property takes off though, it would be cool to see a resurgence and maybe even a movie.
-
Hard to tell how the toys are from the small pic but I am intrigued
-
Hard to tell how the toys are from the small pic but I am intrigued
same here. i did some searching around and I guess there is going to be both a 3 3/4 line and a 7-8 inch line.
-
Why did they have to age regress the characters to teenagers? That is asinine...Cheetara barely looks legal.
And please don't have another African American do the voice for Panthro...that was painfully racist. ;)
-
Way too anime on the designs. I do not like the new look at all. I read they are doing two Classics figures to test the waters but I will not get my hopes up since it's Bandai. I expect 1990ish mitt meat palm hands, shiny plastic and metal 1990ish Toybiz bolt joints.
-
I haven't seen any pics of the toys yet (I'm guessing we'll see them at Toy Fair), but I noticed that BBTS has preorders for the following:
4" Figures
6" Collector Figures
8" Classic Collector Figures
Deluxe Vehicle with Figure Sets
Thundertank Deluxe Vehicle
Tower of Omens Deluxe Playset
-
I heard that one of those scales are basically Ljn rereleases. Not sure if there is any truth to it.
EDIT______________________
well seems like i heard wrong anyway.
More T-Cats descriptions (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=291&itemid=16828)
And here is a pic of the Mezco Lion-O

-
Just an FYI that Walmart has black T-shirts with the red TC logo for $7.50. I found one last week and just couldn't resist.
-
thanks for the link Evenflow.
I am pretty excited to check out this line at Toy Fair. So, according to Evenflow's link, the only bad guys we will see right out of the gate are Mumm-Ra and and what seems to be a crappy, "semi-articulated", version with Slithe in the deluxe vehicle line
-
Man, these look like crap, in my opinion. I do not like the new super anime look of the redesign at all but I get they want to appeal to todays kids. (I thought the manga craze was done but I guess not.) I am interested to see the classics line. I was hoping Mattel would do these so they are in scale with MOTU classics. I like the 14' Mezco Lion-O but it's too big. They would have done a great job too, it's a shame Bandai got this license. Bandai is not exactly known for making good figures.
-
you got a link to where you seeing these? The only pics I have seen are extremely blurry - hard to make out the quality.
-
I do like the old look better, but hard to tell how the toys will look based on this. I’m more bothered by the assortment. Similar to Iron Man, it looks like they plan to release just one baddie along with a pile of good guys. I’m sure good guys sell, but having kids of my own – it’s pretty lame to have an army of good guys with no one to fight against. Where are Slithe, Jackalman, Monkian!?
My favorite figures as a kid were usually the bad guys (Fett, Biker Scout, Kobra-Kahn, Soundwave), so I don’t get why villains have fallen out of favor these days. Few action figure lines beyond Star Wars have staying power, but it sure seems like most of them shoot themselves in the foot from the get go with these crappy assortment choices.
-
Collider (http://collider.com/new-thundercats-toys-snarf/73816/) has a look at a handful of the toys, as well as what Snarf will look like in the series. Not sure I'm too crazy about the toys yet either, but I'll wait and see. As it has already been mentioned, I'd have rather seen the Horsemen/Mattel put out a "Classics" line alongside the MOTUC lineup. That said, I think its cool that they're making a Thundertank, playset, etc. and I hope that the new show is a hit with kids. It would be cool to see Thundercats make a comeback, it was one of my favorites as a kid.
-
I hope that cheetara is not supposed to be an example of the 8 inch classic series. My intrigue has turned into disgust.
-
ToyNewsI (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=291&itemid=16842) has a look at the first figure from the 8" Classic Line, Lion-O.
-
This does not look too bad, better than what I expected. My fear it that he will be made of super shiny plastic like the Power Rangers. I will reserve final judgment once I see a production piece. My mind is not changed on the new look, I do not like it at all.
-
Its not bad bt it is certainly not amazing, saddens me to think what the 4HM could have done.
EDIT!--------------------------
This pic makes me feel better (credit to thundercatslair for it)

I was really hoping for 4H to get this, oh well I can wait another 20 years...
-
I'm kind of impressed with the 8" classic line of Thundercat figures. The Lion-O and Tigra look excellent. Maybe not quite 4H excellent, but still...I might actually pick those up. If they also do Panthro and Cheetara, and they look as good, I'd go for them as well.
The 3.75" line, blah. I don't like the looks of the figures as much and the accessories look really tiny. The playset just has no substance to it. It's really pretty ridiculous. The tank looks okay, but again, it looks small.
The role play items, on the other hand, look pretty cool. Small, for kids, but cool features.

I think I am in a "wait until I see it at retail and make a decision then" mode. Kinda impressed, kinda meh. I was looking at some pictures and I noticed that Mumra, when he is in his supersized, ever-living mode, had 2 big holes in his chest in the 3 3/4 line. anyone know what that is all about?
-
I pre-ordered a set from BBTS from what i have seen they look pretty nice. I hope the cartoon is good i have been disappointed with renegades.
-
I preordered them as well, hoping fo Mumm-Ra and Slithe next.
-
Well I went all in on this line. While there have only been 3 episodes so far I am loving them!
I went to TRU and grabbed all 7 of the new wave 1 - 4 inch Thundercats toys plus the Lizard on his bike thingy, plus the Thundertank. Someone must have beaten me to Grune and Mumra the Ever Living - but thats ok I spent enough on everything else for the day.
Also just FYI prices at TRU:
Single Carded figures = $7.99
Deluxe = $14.99
Vehicles = $14.99
Thundertank - $29.99
From what I have seen on line single carded figures will be $6.99 at K-Mart.
-
Saw these at K-Mart yesterday. Made me smile, but not enough to purchase them. If the sculpts were more realistic, I'd probably consider it.

Some 4 inch pics and articulation reviews
Lion-O:
(http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4885/dsc02442mq.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/dsc02442mq.jpg/)
Comes with: extended sword of omens, short sword of omens, and glove thingy.
Articulation: Swivel head, ball jointed arms, swivel forearm, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, single hinged knees, single hinged ankles.
Extra notes: as you can see in the pic the short sword plugs in nicely to the glove just like in the show, no swivel at the boot.
Tigra:
(http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/6249/dsc02441t.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/706/dsc02441t.jpg/) (http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/3170/dsc02440h.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/27/dsc02440h.jpg/)
Comes with: blaster, belt, whip
Articulation:Swivel head, ball jointed arms, swivel forearm, ball jointed hips, single hinged knees, swivel at the boot, single hinged ankles.
Extra notes: I am not a big fan of the bulky belt. You can easily unclasp it to take it apart. there is a spot on Tigra's waist to attempt to keep the belt plugged in and snug but it doesn't work so well. The whip is all blue, I can't remember if in the new cartoon if the whips is supposed to have colored ends or not.
Panthro:
(http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/3296/dsc02436hj.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/708/dsc02436hj.jpg/)
comes with: nunchucks, and wrapped up nunchucks to store
Articulation: Swivel head, ball jointed arms, swivel forearm, ball jointed hips, single hinged knees, swivel at the boot, single hinged ankles.
Extra notes: no waist articulation, there is a plug on his belt in the back to place his wrapped up nunchucks. The nunchucks are all silver - we have not seen what color they are supposed to be in the cartoon yet, but I would not be against painting them to be their traditional red/blue colors.
and now for the let down imo:
Cheetara:
(http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6928/dsc02439km.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/35/dsc02439km.jpg/)
Comes with: staff
Articulation: yikes! ball jointed shoulders, swivel bicep, 3 - yes 3 - cuts in the hip/upper thigh area, single hinged knees.
Extra notes: One can see she has a swivel neck but due to her hair and the magnet thingy on the back she cannot move it at all. Big downfalls imo - no ankles, waist, or wrist. Her articulation stinks.
Overall I really do like these figures - especially the crisp paint apps that do a great job depicting what the characters look like on TV. I will do a review of some of the other figures/things I bought later if I can sneak past my wife. (I have to sneak these too - my wife wasn't too thrilled about another toy line).
-
not sure why the thumbs are not working on this board.... ???
JD uses 'img' and not 'image' in the image tags - [/img], not [/image]. ;)

ah thanks! here are some more!
(http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/1949/dsc02444p.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/148/dsc02444p.jpg/)
(http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2060/dsc02446yk.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/269/dsc02446yk.jpg/)
(http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/9516/dsc02447gq.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/594/dsc02447gq.jpg/)

Haven't seen these anywhere yet, although we don't have K-Marts around anymore. I'm not going to actively collect the line either, but our daughter has been way into Thundercats lately (watching the older ones on a DVD set we have, and catching the first couple episodes of the new series), and I know she really wants a Cheetara. If these show up at Target, TRU, etc. I'd probably grab a few for her if she is still interested.
-
I am wondering if Target is going to be carrying this line? Bandai's website specifically says these will be available at: Walmart, TRU, K-Mart, and Amazon.com
But yeah I am loving the new series - it is great!
-
I ordered the SDCC exclusive Lion-O and after seeing how bigger they are than i was expecting, i cancelled by preorder for Tygra and the regular Lion-O. I was hoping they would be more in scale with MOTU.
-
Okay... here goes.....
Wilykit and Wilykat
(http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/8862/dsc02479q.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/821/dsc02479q.jpg/)
articulation: Swivel head and shoulders... thats it.
Wilykit comes with some ring thingy
Wilykat comes with these big long grabber claws
Extra notes: there boards have, um wheels, um - they have pop out guns on the sides, and uh, they front of the boards opens up as if to pinch things... The peg to keep these figures on their boards is in their tails instead of having the holes on their feet. While this may not seem like a big deal it means they really only look right facing forward on their boards and not standing sideways like they should on a surf board. :(
(http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/9697/dsc02480t.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/dsc02480t.jpg/)
Mumra:
Articulation: Swivel neck, swivel shoulders, swivel wrist, swivel waist.
Comes with: removable cape, wrist shield guard thingy, and what looks like to be the small sword of omens.
Extra notes: his cape is a touch heavy for the figure and it makes him rock back on his heels a bit.
-
I got some time so I was able to doa quick little review on the rest of the stuff I have from the line.
Lizard with Lizard Cannon - love the name...
The vehicle is actually pretty cool - here is a pic in firing mode:
(http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/7742/dsc02545ga.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/843/dsc02545ga.jpg/)
Driving mode:
(http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/1628/dsc02546qt.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/dsc02546qt.jpg/)
and a picture of the cool Lizard driver:
(http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/5788/dsc02547t.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/508/dsc02547t.jpg/)
he is, imo, actually one of the best figures believe it or not - a simple no-named Lizard. He sports an actually full functioning ball jointed head and tail, bail jointed shoulders, a swivel at the wrist area, swivel hips, and hinged knees.
And here is the Thundertank:
This thing has lights and sounds. You can see in this pic the "eyes" lighting up. There is a canon firing noise, a screeching of tires noise for when you launch the sidecar launchers, and when you put a figure in the seat it says "Thundertank, activate" followed by a sound that to me sounds like a the slashing sound effects of the Sword of Omens.
(http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/5153/dsc02551h.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/52/dsc02551h.jpg/)
Here is a open cockpit view which also shows the claws displayed out or in - these just work on a little swivel:
(http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/4061/dsc02552nx.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/dsc02552nx.jpg/)
This picture is showing off the rear action feature of the Thundertank. When on of the figures magnets touches the back of the Thundertank, as shown, a rear door hatch opens up. This is a good place to store Snarf. While I am at it, Snarf is decent though a bit oversized. He is probably more in scale with the other figures like Snarf is from the old series. The only articulation he has is a swivel at all 4 legs, but his tail is in the way . He also has the action feature magnet in his back like all of the other figures.
(http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/2482/dsc02553d.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/805/dsc02553d.jpg/)
And this last picture is just showing off the sidecar launching feature. You lift the flaps on the Thundertank, press the button and they launch - and this feature actually works pretty decently.
(http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2941/dsc02554o.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/3/dsc02554o.jpg/)
Finally, just like anything and everything else from this line, the paint details are very sharp on all of the above.
I still need to grab a Mumra the Ever-Living at some point - I am still trying to decide which version I want - the 6 inch or the Deluxe version - I am still trying to figure out which one is more "in scale". I also still have not seen Grune - and he is a definite buy - I love him in the show. The sidecars from the figure/vehicle line I am actually debating now that I have the Thundertank cracked open - I will probably wait for a sale on those. So that pretty much puts me at having/will be having everything in the inch scale line.
-
Saw a bunch of the 3 3/4 and 6" versions of these at K-Mart last night. Looked pretty cool, but I had to resist getting pulled into yet another line.
-
I saw some of these at TRU this weekend (the only place locally that carries them I believe), and they didn't look too bad. Our daughter is way into the show right now, but unfortunately we couldn't find her favorite (Cheetara) on the pegs. I'm sure, as a female character, she is short packed though. Did see Lion-O, Tygra, Mumm Ra, and some deluxe stuff. Oh, and the Thundertank as well.
-
Watched an episode of the show, thought it was aweosme and ended up buying Lion-O
-
I ended up watching the episode that aired after Clone Wars last week and it was surprisingly not that bad. They're doing a good job with this franchise right now.
The new Voltron, by comparison, SUCKS. :-\
-
new 6 inch line http://geek-news.mtv.com/2011/11/15/exclusive-first-look-at-2012-thundercats-6-inch-figures-with-interview/
-
I hate screaming faces on figures.
-
yeah - I was thinkin "WTF?" when I saw that too
-
I had almost bit on picking up at least the "Classics" Lion-O, but held off because I wasn't really interested in the 8" figures. When I saw they were doing classics Thundercats in the 6" line, I was seriously thinking about collecting all the basic cats - but I'm not a fan of the screaming face thing either. If they go about doing "normal" versions of the characters, I may have to pick some up, we'll see. I was a big fan of the show as a kid, but only really ever had the Panthro figure back then I believe.
-
I picked up the Armor of Omens at Walmart, not much articulation but still pretty cool. No luck finding Claudus yet though.
-
Did anyone catch TOY HUNTERS on TLC last night? It follows the owner of Hollywood Heroes, which deals in some high end collectibles. And one of the pieces that he acquired from a collector for resale was the ultra-rare Thundercats figure "The Mad Bubbler". I for one was astounded that a vintage Thundercats prototype would sell for over $10,000!
-
I have the new Lion-O, Panthro, and Claudus. The first two figures suffer from articulation loss in this new, second version due to mold tweaking. I still cant figure out why they took out Lion-O's swivel waist... I guess I could understand ankle articulation as it seems a lot of toy lines are doing away with it, but tweaking a pre-existing mold to remove a swivel wait POA of articulation is not only mind boggling to me, but also unacceptable.
I also have the Tygus set but I have not gotten around to opening it yet.
As for Mumra's ride? Pretty sure it is priced at $30 atm and Amazon.com has taught me better than that with their $9 Thundertank sales.
-
Where did you find them? I have been hitting up Walmart and Target for these (and the Marvel Legends) but no luck on either.
-
I got all the new stuff at Walmart, and I live in north west Indiana
-
Cool, I'll keep checking Walmart, just wish wave 1 would sell more. Might give them more incentive to order wave 2.

Found Claudus and the new Panthro today. Passed on the new Mumm-Ra. No sign of the new Lion-O though.

I think i am the only one who really cares anymore :P but BBTS got my deluxe Slithe pre-order and I ordered the Thundercats SDCC minimates. Anyone else pick them up?
-
I think it's too bad that the show didn't get picked up for a 2nd season. I never did see the rest of S1, after they took it off Friday night's, I kind of forgot about it and never remembered to follow it.
The toy line is on clearance at all the stores here and mostly sold out now. I thought the toy line looked decent enough but after that first drop, don't think it sold very well.
I liked the looks of the minimates but not enough to buy any. I didn't even buy any of the 3.75" figures in the end.

I loved the show. I wish we got all of Mumra's generals but the deluxe Slithe isn't going to cut it for me - I am not going to go out of my way looking/ordering it. If I happened upon it at a TJ Max or something then maybe....
a shame it seems like this is dead.

I enjoyed the show. Thought it was pretty decent actually - just never really cared much for the toys but have eyeballed them up on the Target clearance racks from time to time. Missed the episode where Panthro got his robo arms, but I do remember the bears from the "vintage" toon.

these are all back on clearance again at my local WM. Odd how they are on again/off again
-
Showing up at Ollies, if any one cares. Tower of Omens is $10. Tank is $8. They had the small vehicles with figures, too, also $8. I think.
-
Its too bad the cartoon and toys didnt catch on with kids. I was really enjoying the show and wanted to see more, especially since they referenced Silver Hawks and Tiger Sharks. I got all the figures, including SSSlithe.

I can't believe I didn't post about this sooner, but is anyone planning on collecting the new Thundercats line from Mattel? It looks pretty great, just like the MOTU Classics. I'd like to get a few, but have a feeling it will be pretty tough without a sub, and I can't really do that anymore. That said, it would be nice to get the main characters.

I'm very tempted. But the increasing lack of space combined with the sub were enough for me to pass for now.

I subscribed. Figured its only half a year. No harm.

And Super 7 says MOTUC style Thundercats are dead...due to Warner Brothers not agreeing to let them do it.

Sadly that was the deciding factor on me giving up on MOTU from them as well. I am completely out of the 6 inch scale and only buy 1:6 now.

I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but is anyone interested in the Funko Savage World Thundercats line that is coming up? I admit when I first saw the Mortal Kombat figures from this line, it didn't interest me at all, but it somehow works for Thundercats a little more I think. I did preorder the first figures, at $12.99 each, for now.
I missed out on the Mattel Classics figures (which are maybe returning?), so this could be a somewhat affordable way to get some Thundercats toys. If Classics does return, and they reissue the figures previously released, I would probably opt for those depending on price.
I only had Panthro from the vintage line as a kid, but always wanted more. As I've been doing more vinty toy watching/collecting, it seems like Thundercats may be a pricey prospect - so this new line may be a better option. Anyone else interested in these Funko figures?

Not sure if anyone here collects Thundercats Ultimates from Super 7, but they announced a Thundertank this past week that is getting a lot of conversation due to the price ($450!). I started watching an interview Pixel Dan has up with Brian Flynn (Super 7), that I think does a good job explaining why it costs what it does. I get it, it is a large toy from a smaller company with a probably comparatively small fan base.
I’ve been collecting this line (well, so far just updates of the Mattel figures), and plan to complete at least the main team and heavy hitters, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to swing this or not. I’d love to have it, and they are offering some sort of payment plan, but I have so many other interests I’m not sure if I should. Even within Super 7’s stuff....I love their Ultimates TMNT line, and if it got to the point where they would give this treatment to the Party Wagon, I’d rather have that. Anyways definitely a cool toy, really amazing what we are getting these days.

It looks awesome, but way beyond my Thundercats budget.
-
I’m really glad they are not making $450 toys for any of their other lines. I love their stuff but that is a big chunk of change.
-
I don’t think anyone here really collects Thundercats anymore, but I’m sure many of you have seen that Cat’s Lair. Just insane. If Thundercats was all I collected and displayed, it would be an excellent centerpiece, but wow is that a lot 🙂

That thing is awesome, the fan base seems excited too.
