I think Hasbro might be going a little too far with the large items being sold on day 1 lol. As cool as this ship may end up I already have the other clone wars one and ultimatly have no more room for another.

Neat deco choice... I'm not buying one, but neat deco. I'd imagine this'll give a choice to the masses NOT buying the big stuff. I honestly think the big stuff is really still a toss-up as to how well it may perform. I don't think we can carry those big item sales, honestly.
This though, may be a smart move for Hasbro... Pretty cheap for them to just crank more out with a new deco, and definitely more affordable to the frugal moms/dads.

Cool! I would love to have a couple of these on my shelf, as i came in to the collecting game a little late and missed out on these. I think i prefer this deco over the painted shark nose deal.

I definitely prefer this deco. From what I understand we have two or three choices for the decals on the front. Twi' Lek as we see, Kowakian Monkey Lizard (Think Salacious Crumb), and possibly one more. So it will be cool to deco these how we want. I'm hoping these is a choice to NOT deco these and keep it plain if we want. I still need 2-3 more gunships in the correct movie colors. This would do if I'm not held to the front end deco.
I'll still get one for sure though.

Well we knew this vehicle would be put out there. At least it's just an exclusive. But yeah, Hasbro is going nutty with all the vehicle releases. I would not mind buying this but I have to save for the Falcon, AT-TE, and Spider Droid.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how it goes with all of these vehicle releases. Even if they aren't all coming out on July 26th, there's going to be a heck of a lot of vehicles for the last half of the year. I've only got the original (AOTC/Saga) gunship, but that's all I'll have room for, so I'm happy with that. Although of course out of scale, I do think its a pretty nifty toy. The one thing cool about this new version (aside from the alternate decals), is if it would have full closing doors. I don't expect it to be too much different aside from deco though. It seems like WM and TRU each have their own "multiple deco" vehicles coming this year, with this and the Dagger Squad B-Wing. Hasbro does seem to be paying a lot of attention to vehicles lately, which is kind of neat.

I'm reserving judgement on the deco until we see the actual gunship versus the representational art that's on the box. These days there seems to be more and more of a discrepancy between the two. Sure we'll get the exclusive label sheet, but I can see this being not much more in terms of weathering than the previous releases in a new box.

could we get an add on to this version, they are supposed to be able to travel through space kinda of piontless to be transporting troops if they all get sucked out into vacuum.

I get that it's like the WW II thing but that doesn't seem to translate into the whole SW/clones being raised in labs rapidly grown probably never even seen a woman, besides Kamonian. At least the men in WW II had a life before/during the war that girlfriends/lives. Them being Mando raised the tiger shark whatever it is on the ARC seems more appropriate, or anything else more geared towards violence.

Well, reading the Rep. Commando novels right now as I am, it has interesting insight into Clones and their minds/thoughts...
They're still human, ultimately, and while they're not raised around women for the most part, they still have the same desires it seems. It makes sense in that regard. And as the war goes on, they do encounter women of various races/species, and get that Captain Kirk feeling about them... They also are exposed to female Jedi early on into their experiences as well. It's written that it's akward for them though too, and that being given "names" is an akward transition for them as well. But as time and the war drag on, the Clones ultimately become more "normal".
I think that angle ties in well then to their trust factor they develope with the Jedi, and then ultimately that connection seems to help become the undoing of the Jedi as a whole. The Clones are capable of unique personality traits, etc., and become almost too friendly to the Jedi, and then the Jedi are that much more surprised when the Clones turn on them... It's the ultimate betrayal, and a subtle thing from ROTS that I really thought was "surprising" and interesting actually, on Lucas' part.

Looks pretty cool and like JT, I'm not getting one. Waaaayyy too much coming out at the same time and really don't need yet another version of the exact same thing. This might work on the $20 stuff like starfighters, but I just don't see a lot of demand for this.

Thanx for that Jesse I've not read any of the novels, though I've been meaning to pic up the REP Comm books, but it still seems that since they are more docile then the original host or whatever it was that Lama Su said about the clones it just seems that being constantly exposed to warfare and I'm sure they weren't getting "leaves" to go out on the town that women would be the last thing on there mind.
Although I could be wrong maybe they're watching holovids of lesi twi'lek, who knows what they with those leku when the lights go out. ;D

It doesn't really say they get leaves, but I get the implication that many of them, or maybe all of them, do spend time on Coruscant at some point in their lives, and may well be exposed there... They're also seen though with the general population in EU, doing "police" type work, etc. They're sort of woven into every aspect of life, which is good if you want them embedded physically, as well as mentally (so the people don't forget who to "thank", ya know. ;) ).
I'd think they'd get a pretty substantial introduction to other species then...
They seem oddly curious (in EU) about other species... They're trained to know the best way to kill them incase they encounter hostile ones, but liberating a planet would ultimately expose them to refugees, etc. It seems like their natural feelings are surpressed, at least that's how I'd describe it, while their ultimately personality can overcome the surpression.
I would say it's easier for the Commanders, the Commandoes, the ARCS (who are really unaltered for the most part), and other "elite" Clones, to harbor the emotions/feelings towards the opposite sex. I'd think the "dumb grunt" in the field maybe has a harder time with it, but over time (if he survives), I'd think they would also gain those feelings. In the book I'm reading right now it makes it clear that Clones evolve... They don't like names, but soon because of the Jedi they're all getting names... They don't want food besides their supplements, but soon they're developing a taste for certain foods introduced to them by the Jedi... I have a feeling they're generally able to supress urges for women too, but eventually they may see enough that they can control themselves but still fantasize... I have a hard time imagining them heading off to the local whorehouse though. I don't think they get paid anyway. ;)

On the contrary, I get a few emails every month from people asking when or if Hasbro is going to rerelease the gunship because they (or their kids, more often) still want one. Every new release has been a consistent seller, so if the market forces are to be believed, there will be significant, positive demand for this. And it's a Wal-Mart exclusive, so about 30% of us will never see it in the wild anyway.
...although as #5, yeah, I'm less than enthusiastic about getting yet another one, especially since I already have two of mine lacking in gun pods. But I do dig the WWII-style illustrations, so I'm all over it. Between this one and the 2006 Clone Wars one, I almost feel it was a waste to buy the first, ah, three. Here's hoping they crank out pilots a-plenty to fill this thing.

I couldn't have agreed with Adam without having direct requests. I'm kind of mystified over the fact that every version of the Gunship has sold, sold well and still commands more than a fair price in the after-market.

Plain and simple it's a fun toy! Cool features: missles, opening cockpit, fallout platform, mechanical doors, and even reasonable scale.
For $30-40 there's a lot of toy there for a good value.

My son loves the Clone wars Gunship. He saw it in the cartoon and plays out the hunt for Grevious all the time. The thing has great play value and allows him to create all kinds of different stories of his own. I'm sure he will be saving birthday money to get the new gunship after he spots it in the new movie.

Can anyone (with proof) dispell the rumor that there will also be a TRU and Target exclusive Gunship?
I've seen this talked about, but noone can offer up proof of either they are or are not getting their own exclusive variants of the gunship.

At the end of June, a SKU number popped up in the TRU computer for an exclusive CW Gunship...

So that's two versions at least... I can't recall if there was a Target Gunship DPCI or why/how a Target Gunship rumor started though.

In the past this price point was a "Gunship Assortment" which also included the ARC-170... so it doesn't necessarily mean that this line item is what it appears to be, or is even current-- it's possibly phantom data. (I believe there was a single carded Ilum Padme in Target's system at one point in 2006, with a DPCI posted to these very boards.)

Based on the list that Hasbro circulated, it looks like the exclusive vehicles are due a little later in the year. They kept on mentioning their fall exclusives program in connection with the Gunship in the Q&A process. That makes me think we're more likely to see the exclusive vehicles around October.

That I know of there has not been confirmation of 3 exclusive gunships. Target no, TRU in fact may just be the LEGO version and may not be an exclusive at that. So for now, it looks like only the Wal*Mart gunship is the true exclusive and that's not due for a couple of months now at least.

Not digging the price on this thing either, but it does look nice. Granted TRU charged $44.99 for their Shark version, but this is WM we're talking about. Where's the value here? I've already got 7 of these suckers from various issues, so I don't really think the chick on the font is enough to get me to pour out $50.

It seems to be a shot of the Revenge of the Sith toy with an illustration composited on top of it. It's identical to the ROTS gunship from 2005, right down to the damage, dirt, and logos. Perhaps the guy is asking when Hasbro will be making this mock-up? If that's the case, probably after they announce it... at first glance I just thought this was a Rebelscum shot photoshopped but it doesn't seem to match their images.

I spotted a few cases of these at my local WM. They hadn't put them out yet, but probably will soon. The cases had the 7/26 release date on them. Weird.

Probably got delayed either in the U.S. at WM's distribution centers, or overseas. Overseas images have been out since before 7/26 so the ships have just been mellowing somewhere.

$49.99 is the price, I was a bit taken back as I thought this was going to be $30, a real shocker indeed. I did not get to open it yet to see if it's a worthy repaint. $39.99 should have been the max this price gouging is crazy!

Yeah, I'm not buying this just for the artwork. It's neat, but not $15-20 more neat.
If the artwork isn't permanent meaning we apply the stickers ourselves, then it has at least some draw for me.
Either way, I think I'll be passing on this at retail and hope to get it for cheap some time down the line. If I never get this version I won't sweat it.
What we really need is AOTC/ROTS accurate gunships. I've got at least 2 if not 3 of these, but want 2-3 more. Inaccurate ones are not really on my immediate radar to buy.

Q3: Dear Hasbro, a boxed image has shown up online of the new Clone Wars Republic Gunship and it has sparked the discussion regarding the label/decal possibilities. Will collectors be able to "personalize" their gunships in regards to the nose art? The box front looks to show at least 2 decos (the "Twi'lek pin-up" and a red circular symbol) are these labels included with the gunship and are there other choices as well? What are they?

Other considerations aside, I've been thinking long and hard about this one. This is the fifth unique Gunship released, I really don't need another one.

I opened the box to peek at the deco, the other notable change is the canopy, it has tinted black windows. Overall it appears this does not have a lot of battle damage but it looks pretty damn good. This looks to be one of the sharpest gunship decos to date but the price tag really take away from it. For that price it should have came with the Gun Turrets. I have all 5 Gunships, I bought this reluctantly but I think this will actually be one of my favorite ones. The Twi'lek chic deco looks really sharp. If I were to rank the Gunships in order I would have to say:
1. WM Gunship
2. CW Arc Gunship
3. CW 2003 Command Gunship
4. AOTC
5. ROTS
I may have to get rid of one of these as this is Gunship overkill...like the Starfightrers. I am passing on the Wampa Arc as it's really a dumb concept like the Space Whale arc but even that is more interesting than a Wampa head breathing fire, it takes away from the mystique of the Wampa to have them be widely known creatures.

does anyone knows if TRS or Target will have the repack Gunships?
I saw in a Game Store the one for CW ARC, for $75, I have the Arc hunt for Grevous figure's pack .
what is the innacuracy of this ship? I see all are the same exept the paint job.
I can't explain why doesn't come with the turrets, I know you must buy the clone trooper figure that comes with that, but the turret is not the right size... Other: why they didn't complete the next doors on each side of the ship, or at leas make a figure that comes with that?

- Dark blue canopy hides the figures inside
- There is paint on the bottom of the ship that you can't see
- Ball turrets are now painted, were formerly clear
- No stickers of any kind
- All rockets match the ship except the two large ones, which are red
- Landing platform has paint on it
- The side doors are *extremely* stiff-- I thought they were stuck in place they now move so slowly
There's definitely more paint on this than previous releases (no doubt an attempt to add some sort of visual value for a few extra pennies) and it is quite nice. The Twi'lek girl on the side seems to be done up in the new animated style, before I thought it was going to be "realistic." It's pretty slick for anyone who doesn't have a Gunship or is jonesing for new Clone Wars goodies, but if this is your second (or fifth), you probably don't need it. Of course, I don't listen to reason, so I had to get one anyway.

No doubt... The noseart's nice, the cartoon rocks, but I think between having umpteen of them in the hands of collectors already, coupled with the $50 pricetag (yeesh), nobody gives a poo on this. I'll be shocked if I don't see these readily available.

I kind of think these might be around as well, unless they are big sellers to parents for Christmas presents. This looks kind of nifty, just like the Clone Wars one did to me as well, but I still only have the original Attack of the Clones version (which was $40 at the time I think). On one hand I'm getting much more selective on purchases (and have considered dropping PT vehicles, but some of the Clone Wars concepts might change my mind - Y-Wing bomber), and also, these Gunships take up a lot of space to display with that wingspan. Anyways, like others have said, this one might sit for a bit - especially at $50.

The kid factor is a big one but I'm thinking $50, unless it's a Christmas gift, is gonna be a hard pill to swallow... not to mention people just aren't spending like they used to, especially on higher-priced items. I think smaller priced items like action figures will do better this year than in years past because Christmas sales still need to go on, but the bigger ticket stuff is what'll take the bump.

I stopped at our local store looking for an A-Wing (didn't have any) yesterday, and they had a ton of these stuck in various places throughout the toy section. They shared an endcap with SW Lego sets and leftover Droid Factory 2 packs, and there was another 5-6 shoved in the regular section in the action figure aisle. I was just surprised how many they had for such a big vehicle, but I didn't see a single A-Wing. Hopefully they'll be put out later on.

Just my 24 hr Walmart has it at the moment out, maybe 20 (A-Wing's), for $30 buck. I was tempted, but I was searching for figures instead.
Your Walmart maight has it at the storage, waiting to be out soon. You maight want ask one of the workers there if is there, the least they can tell you is that they can't take it out, till its autorized. very nice ship indeed.

BTW: You guys who post negative feelings to the new Gunship, cus you brag to have more than one( wish is cool btw ;) ), should not do so...
Cus this turn off newbyies, & new collectors... Also you make look the forum bad & boring. Sorry but that is the animosity you cause lol!
It should be an exitement, for people or kids who like the new CW series, also the gunship was meant for these CG figures wish is cool & a new thing.

And you're gonna find people have something negative to say about anything/everything. That's what the boards are for really... Discussing what you like, and likewise what you dislike, about the hobby. In this case, most of us have been here for the 12+ years of the hobby, or longer if we collected vintage. I totally see where those guys are gunshipped out.
Myself, I have one Gunship and due to it being out of scale it's the only one I'll be buying ever.

Well now I think I can identify with you a bit, but I started again last year to collect, cus the previous SW collection after Ep 1, were kinda ugly figures...things got better, with one previous the 30th anny, Saga etc... & now the Legacy, I can send Kenner's vintage to Hell if I had still got the collection today, in comparison with the new Hasbro Collection, I dont regret my vintage loss ...

Picked up my first Gunship ever last night, I love this ship, it rocks! But can't help but notice that it looked like a few things may have been omitted from from the interior. Never owning one before, it's kinda hard to tell. To me, it kinda looks like something is missing just behind the dropping platform and directly in front of the platform. Was there some kind of door to divide the cockpit from the rest of the ship. And it kinda looks like something is supposed to snap into position in the rear, i just doubt a speeder will fit back there. Was there some kind of Rifle rack or Ammo cases? ???

The SAGA & Clone Wars (2003) speeder bike will snap into the rear part of the Gunship's troop bay. But only those versions work.

One of my local Wal-Marts had dozens of these last month and this morning, it seems-- unless someone moved 'em all-- that they sold through already. Hunh. How about your neighborhoods?
The ARC doesn't seem to be moving as quickly but it certainly seems people are hungry for Gunships.

One of my WMs was sitting on about 30 Gunships and 20 A-Wings for about three weeks straight, then all the sudden GONE. I even checked the fishing/hunting/automotive sections where they sometimes stock their exclusives. Not sure what's up with that. 3/4 of my local WMs don't even bother stocking exclusives.

There wasn't supposed to be three versions (this year) of anything. There was an early misconception that the TRU ARC 170 was a Gunship instead. I forgot what the Target item was, if there was one.

They probably just moved them. I saw a ton of BMFs, Gunships and A-wings in the Hardware Dept over here.
