We are getting a hell of a lot of ROTS stuff this year... surely some of us customizers have some ideas in mind...
:P
-
Since the Prequels pretty much have shut me out of OT figures, I will probably pick up a Tarkin, Bail Organa, Captain Antilles and possibly some Alien Senators.
The Mon Calamari would make a good Mon Remonda Crewman....
I'm at best a neophyte to customizing (I am the proverbial NOOB who can't even manage a boil and pop head swap). BUt I have decided with a lack of stuff out to spend money on, I'd start up customizing and ACUTUALLY FINISH a custom. I will post it here...maybe even do the whole WIP thing....my first lofty goal is to take a Micro-man and cover him with parts of Saga Snowtrooper but I have to baby step my way there....
-
I'm gonna be all over Jedi customs with the excellent Kit Fisto body that's part of this new collection. Plus, Zett Jukassa is going to make for some great younger Padawans.
Aside from that, I'm looking forward to the Royal Guards, as some parts from them will be used for some KOTOR style Mandalorians I've wanted to do for a while, and pieces of the Neimoidian Warrior and Mustafar sentry will be good for various fringer, scum and villainy types.
Oh yeah--first post! Thanks for telling me about this place, CHEWIE!

Darth Delicous - I am so glad you are here!!! Welcome my friend. :)
You are one of the coolest cats around. It sounds like you have some great ideas for customs with the ROTS figures!
:P

I'd like to get more of the RS gang over here...it kills me when I pop on the site and there aren't a ton of updates for me to peruse! ;)
Well, I hit about ten stores starting at midnight last night and going until about ten this morning. (With a break between two and seven to watch Clone Wars with my partner in crime Ryan.) I picked up multiples of all the Jedi for customs, a few red guards and a few blue, and ten clones. I wasn't going to get that many clones right off because I like to make sure most fans get a shot at them, but there were so many falling off the racks around here, I didn't even make a dent.
Oddly enough, I only found one clone pilot and no clone commanders. Crap-cakes!
I passed (for now) on the Grievious variations, the ships, and the beast packs. Gotta draw the line somewhere, and I know these will be abundantly clearanced come summer.
I also picked up the carrying case at Wal-Mart, and despite my reservations, the Early Bird kit and the Lava Vader from Target. I got most of my stuff at TRU though, because they had the prices low enough to compete, and if they're going to bring it close, then I'd rather they have my money than the unholy juggernaut that is Wal-Mart.
In any case, I'm dying to customize some ranked clones and a few Jedi, but I may have to wait until later this week. I've got a lot of work due on Monday I've thus far neglected to further cement my place in this world as George Lucas' b*tch. ;D
How about you guys?

Blue Guard=Mandolorian Crusader. ;D
Kevin
-
Oh man let's see....
Clone Commander, if found, can be painted yellow.....and will be.
Tarrful with Preview Wookie parts could be infinitely superior over his current state.
Aayla Secura has smuggler potential.
Like Kevin said...Those guards will make great Mandalorians.
Agen Kolar is a potential Old Ben Kenobi, but the robe makes the purchase worth it.
Each Jedi has its own potential in terms of no name characters, or even a few EU characters.
Bail Organa looks like an easy generic Tantive IV crewmember with a bit of manipulation.
Each Chancellor Palpatine can easily be made a senator of any species I should think.
Until I get the chance to inspect these figures in more detail, that's all I can think of. :)
-
All right...I finished a script, and as a reward to myself, started my new Kir Kanos figure.
I'll post a pic as soon as it's finished. Probably tonight. Hasbro made this the easiest custom in the world...
-DD
-
Eeth Koth and Obi-Wan Rd leader - tons of Jedi potential
Clone Commander- I'm painting a yellow one tonight, I found 3 at MM ;D
Clone Pilot - good figure but I thought it would have removable helmet, oh well I fix taht up myself sometime :)
Clones- If they don't make colored ones, I will :)
Grievous's Guards- I'll probably make a blue version sometime
#12 Palpy - Stick a SAGA head on there and you've got a sweet ROTJ Palpy
Aayla - various female figures
Ki-Adi Mundi - Various Jedi as well
Royal Guards- Tons of things, Madalorians, Smugglers, other guards like Kir Kanos of course, and who know what else
This line has so much potentila it is unbelievable :)
-
Yeah, I'm going to go broke just on the custom fodder from this line!
I agree with all the possibilities you pointed out, SLC. Plus I think I'm going to incorporate parts of the Grievous bodyguards into HK-47 from KOTOR I and II. I've been wanting to finish that one for a while now.

HK-47? Any refrence shots?

HK-47? Any refrence shots?
Kevin
Here's a detailed drawing of him...
[image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/darthdelicious/Reference/Ref-HK-47.bmp)[image]
And here's how he actually ends up looking in the game...
[image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/darthdelicious/Reference/Ref-HK47.bmp)[image]
And just for fun, here's the original conceptual drawing of him.
[image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/darthdelicious/Reference/HK-47concept.jpg)[image]
I'm looking to make the game version of him. Some of the parts I'm working with are a Grievous bodyguard, the new GI Joe Overkill figure, and a saga Death Star droid.
Actually, this might be a fun group project...I can post my progress, and suggestions can be made by you guys...kind of how Master Phruby does from time to time.
-DD
-
I do like the concept shot better than the used version. Still a really cool droid though. Good luck. I assume your using Greivous guards legs?
Kevin
-
Since I was going to attempt the game version first, I was going to use some regular protocol droid legs and maybe attempt to articulate the knees.
Here's what I'm thinking so far:
Head: Overkill + epoxy and my mediocre sculpting talents. ;)
Chest: Grievous' guard.
Arms: Grievous' guard + some glued on parts.
Crotch: Overkill.
Legs: 4-LOM.
Let the cannibalizing begin! ;D

Just completed my first ROTS custom figure - and I think I did a good job.
It's Obi Wan w/ robes... will get pics up soon.

Awesome! Can't wait to see it!
As for me, I'm stumped as to what to do next. Hmm. Any suggestions on the HK figure?
-DD
-
On the HK figure... I am gonna make one too, and use the regular Overkill body except for the head.
I am thinking the Chopper Droid head might look cool on him.
Sounds like yours will be more accurate than mine. :)
:P
-
Feh. Who can say how many different HK models were designed throughout the Old Republic? ;D Besides, a Chopper Droid head would look pretty cool.
Besides, that Overtkill body lends itself to a ton of different droid designs. I'll probably "steal" your finished design for one of my own as well!
-DD
-
Yeah, I suppose there could be several different models. I really like the KOTOR designs... there are a lot of characters I will eventually make.
I am thinking I want to make some peasants or something from some of the Jedi. I think also that the Kit Fisto body would make a great Rodian Jedi.
:P
-
That Kit Fisto is great fodder. I plan on making some ole Republic Jedi's out of that one. The Ki Adi Mundi is surprisingly cool as well. I love the soft goods they added, it makes the figure underneath more versatile for customs.
I already made an improvement to my Agen Kolar; I cut the skirt on either side, allowing his legs to actually be useful. Now you can get him in some great (SPOILER ALERT) "cut down by Palpatine" poses. ;)
-DD
-
The Kolar body is the base for my Obi Wan custom. It's such a great figure, probably my favorite in the ROTS line.
:P
-
I'm really digging the Plo Kloon figure as well. Makes me want to update my Quarren Jedi. ;D
I'm disappointed in Mace, though. I'm going to cobble together a better one from the many Mace's of the past, with a few new Jedi parts as well.
-DD
-
I think the Agen Kolar body will make for a fine Mace Windu. I plan on making mine sometime this week.
:P
-
Almost everything is potential fodder. The Jedi of course are some of the best, and the next up would be the guards.
Figs like Organa, Mon Mothma, etc., are all great fodder too though... I actually wish the preview Wookie would show up again because he's dwindled in my area some. I didn't get many of him on Clearance like I'd like to have done. :( He was pretty good fodder. The upcoming 2nd warrior is good too... All great repaint material.
Some of the collection 1 figs are less than stellar as not just figures but fodder too. Obi's, Ani's, Mace... Bleh. That's not the majority though.
Even Clones have repaint potential beyond their army building qualities.
I don't have many figures yet, just a few, but I know I'll be buying extras as time/$ permit... For customs and army building.
-
Since we're talking ROTS, here's my first "official" ROTS custom.
:P
-
Very nice! I like the versatility of this figure--you really made a custom that works in a lot of situations.
The Agen robe looks a wee bit bulky on him, but that may just be the angle. Great job! So much better than the "Jedi Kick" figure we got from Hasbro...or the "swinging lightsaber" version with non-articulated knees...
-DD
-
I'm suprised no clone repaints have popped up yet.
Kevin
-
There's a few repainted clones that popped up on Rebelscum this week.
-DD
-
...which is exactly why I am glad I am still there, so I can still see some of the great work by some of the members there.
Here's one posted by Whitekite -

Freaking awesome.
:P
-
Ehhh...I'd have liked to have seen it in pristine condition before it got the proverbial **** kicked out of it, but, whatever works I suppose. :-\
Kevin
-
The pic he based it off of was of a pretty chipped up Clone Trooper.
I'd like to see a nice shiny clean one too!
:P
-
I just picked up a few more clones...I'm going to start working on some. Which color/design should I do first?
-DD
-
Yellow! I can get you pics of the scheme if you want!
Kevin
-
Send it over. Send all the reference pics, if you have them. I'll do them all, because I'm mad! Mad, I tell you! Bwa ha ha ha!
-DD
-
....Give me a second. ;D

Those are what I have so far. For images.
Kevin

Is that an orange clone or a brown clone?
I just saw a picture of the green clone, and I'm almost leaning toward starting that one...
-DD
-
I think it's more of an orange color. :)
:P
-
Fine. Do the green one.
I'd like to see it.
And thats a Yeller clone.
Kevin
-
I'm a sucker for troop building. I think I'll start the green, since I have the right shade of paint for that. I need to go to the hobby store and pick up more yellow before I start that one. I also need a good front shot of the Yellow clone to see how his markings look.
-DD
-
I'm gonna redo the Mon Mothma slightly into a ROTJ version... shouldn't be overly difficult.
:P
-
I'm going to start a new legion of Jedi Knights, based off of mixing up the Plo Kloon, Agen Kolar and Kit Fisto bodies.
-DD
-
The legion...of doom!
Kevin

The legion...of doom!
Kevin
Are you suggesting, Kevin, that my new Jedi have red spiked shoulderpads and facepaint? :P
-DD
-
Maybe blue.
Road Warrior Jedi!
Kevin
-
I started cannablizing a ROTS Mas Amedda last night... any ideas?
:P
-
I'm stumped on this one. I have YET to find any #35-40 figures, so I have no idea what the custom possibilities are...
-DD
-
I started making a figure out of him for the photonovel series. Sets pics to both Dimetrodon and Famine, so it might be up sometime this weekend.
:P
