Other Toy Lines / Re: Modern Masters of the Universe

Slightly OT, but I saw some of you guys have mentioned the Mattel Ghostbusters stuff in here. I'd love to get the six inch figures, but I know they're going from $30-70 each right now - is there any chance at all Mattel will be doing more runs of them, or is what's out there all there will be? I don't want to bite on an expensive lot to find them cheaper in retail reissues.

The masks totally made up for that, IMO. I loved that line. I barely remember the cartoon, though I know I watched it regularly. That line was carried by the toys for sure.

They're actually not too bad on ebay. I don't think I'd ever get one at this point, but it's interesting to see that a MIB set can be found for under $100.

Goddamn Scott, that collection is awesome. Do you have the Boulder Hill playset? That thing was, to childhood me, the most amazing toy of all time, trumping even the AT-AT for supremacy. Never had it, but it occupied my dreams for quite awhile...

The best!

The vintage Luke was my first Luke figure as a kid, though I don't think I realized it was a Luke figure at all. I got a box of figures secondhand from an older cousin who grew out of them, and that figure was included. Since there was nothing that really identified it as a "Luke" figure to me, I think it was awhile before I even realized that's who it was.

When the new line came out, my very first figure that I got was the POTF2 Hoth Luke - it was the only Luke I could find, and I snatched it up. I still think that figure looks pretty good.

Voltron producer

They come in threes.  Voltron producer has died as well.

Interesting. One of the writers for Thundercats was just found dead as well... I think we're working on a trilogy of dead 80's cartoon figures. My vote is for the drummer from Kidd Video, if he's not dead yet.

Well now I think he's wearing blue.

Similar shot, no color:

While there have been a lot of nice modern sculpts of BF, I've never really been happy with any of them. The proportions are never dead on. It's probably incredibly nitpicky (and beyond geeky), but just looking at Scott's source photo from ESB shows a lot of differences between the actual character and the figures - just look at the helmet shape alone - it's more of a squared shape, but they usually sculpt it rectangular. Jeremy Bulloch wasn't the biggest guy, either - BF is usually sculpted with much bulkier and longer limbs than he actually had. Despite is being cliché at this point, I say we're still due an "ultimate" BF figure.

The vintage figure is one of my favorites, though, for sure. The colors alone make him stand out so much from most of the other vintage stuff.

Excellent - I remembered the scene, but didn't know if more detailed photos existed. I say we call for a Beru/Power Droid resculpt 2-pack.

Just found another one:

Any stills of the blue one at the Lars ranch?

Vintage Jedi Luke, just for nostalgia's sake. That was my go-to figure as a kid, and I still love how it looks.

Rod Roddey (RIP) eat your heart out.

Give the man some respect. It's "Roddy". Good lord, man.

I don't know that the Oola looks horribly different than the one we've had for years, and as JJ said, that one was pretty good to begin with. But yeah, excitement and stuff.
