Saga '02-'04 / Re: Pegwarmer of the Year Award
« on: April 2, 2003, 12:29 AM »
Oh my, welcome to Canada.

Walmart has only either rebel soldier (beard) or Han Solo and not much of either.

Zellers (~Kmart, but Canadian) is bare for the most part.

TRU - pick whatever figure you'd like from the original 23 Saga figs.  I think I can still find at least one of everything and about a gazillion of Nikto, female Tusken, Saesee Tinn....

Or were you talking about POTJ where Sabe, Shmi and Mr. Removable pants can still be found at full retail?

It just happens that he is one of the few guys older than me that I can actually take shots at.

Don't you mean the only guy (besides Dale) Brent...?!   :-X   ;D

Maybe, I don't know everybody here, so there's still hope.

I like to think of you "children" as padawans, while us oldsters are more wise, perhaps associated with the color green (Dang, Yoda, Celtics, both green - whose yellow and purple in SW?  Oh right, icky colors, nobody).

Bandwagon.  The world's a bandwagon.   ;D

Fortunately, I don't know Chris (yet) so I hold no animosity towards him.  Chuckles and I worked through the details and his wife has straightened him out.  Otherwise I send her no more gifts.

And you are correct, I never would have defaced the ball.  Of course, if Smaq could shoot free throws, he would probably be at 25K now.  Yeah, yeah, I know, nobody practices harder than he does.  Still, pretty sad.  I actually developed my dislike for him prior to his Laker days when he could have already had two championships under his belt, had he been able to shoot free throws.  And it would have dimmed the aura of a certain Bull.  But, clanging iron from the stripe will be his legacy, if only to me.  He may be in the top five all time, but not number one.

Kobe who?  Funny how Sacramento and Seattle are both out west, eh?  Given the way the Celts are playing, I wouldn't be all that surprised if they lose, especially to a hot Philly.  But it won't really matter when the Lakers get their lottery pick.

Dale?  who is this Dale you speak of.  Probably another old guy in Canada.

Hey now, I don't say anything behind anyone's back.  It ain't my fault the damn dancing elephant hasn't been around.  I think I've taken pot shots at Bob at just about every site that I'm registered on.  Hell, he expects it from me.  It just happens that he is one of the few guys older than me that I can actually take shots at.

At least I don't go running to tattle tale on someone (s) :P ;D

Quite so, OCB, quite so.

Though I always envision Bob more as Palpatine from ROTJ.

gotta run.  bye.

Nothing wrong about being bald. It's the in thing now.
There are alot of people at work with the old shaven look.  I'd rather be going bald than going grey.  :o

You must be talking about Bob, right?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How long have you collected SW?
« on: March 31, 2003, 12:10 AM »
Fan forever, but just old enough that having toys wasn't cool when they came out.  Now is just payback for quasi-childhood denial.

I saw ANH 7 times in the theater in its original release and have been a fan ever since.  Didn't own a single toy until 1995 with the release of POTF2.  What started innocently enough in grad school, bought myself a Vader, my supervisor an OB1 and my office partner a Leia (hey-she's a girl).  Thought it would be easy enough to keep up, only 8 or so available.  Whoops.  Kept up pretty well, but being Canuckian, it's been tough.

POTF2 dried up just as RH vader came up.  Grrr.

EU never available in Canada, able to scrape together most from fan club.  Grrr.

Commtech was bleak.  My WM had them in only once and never found R2, Stormie at retail.  Grrr.

Flashback was ok, but we seemed to miss Anakin in the stores, limited supply.  Grrr.

Ep I was great.  For a while.  Canadian stores stopped carrying at Christmas 99 and so after the second R2 fig, nada.  Grrr.

POTJ was cool and got me back into collecting.  Whoops, last two waves of POTJ never made it to Canada.  Grrr.

Saga pretty cool.  Lots of choice, many figs.  Canada drops the ball at Palpatine (Palps and Puhr locally, nada beyond that though pilot wave reported, nothing in between)  Grrrr.

Many Kudos to all the people I have traded with that have kept me sane and in the hobby.  Canada, the Star Wars wasteland. ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who actually "exercises," and how?
« on: March 30, 2003, 11:59 PM »
Jeez, invoked as an old timer.  How quaint :-[

History:  Prior to age 30, exercise maniac.  Workouts, basketball, softball, volleyball, rowing (as in on the water).

Injuries:  two arthrocopic surgeries on left knee (cartilage, smooth kneecap underside), partially ruptured achilles tendon, portion of quadricep muscle removed - strange little lump it was!

Result:  weight gain, compounded by too much time behind computer, too much time driving about the province for work and too much food from restaurants OCB loathes.

Now: run 1x per week, row (Concept II ergometer) 1x per week, cycle 1x per week.  Weights 3x per week.  Eat better (like everyone, less pop - it's the real killer), try to stay away from vending machines.  It will get better when buglet is older (only 3 in two weeks).  As she gets more active, so too will I.

I am not old :P

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How many hours do you sleep a night?
« on: March 30, 2003, 11:53 PM »
Go to bed sometime between midnight and 2:00.  Up at 6:30 unless buglet is up sooner.

I'll sleep when I die...

Nice and fast now that y'all relented and let me back in.   :P

FWIW, when I was locked out, I could access the board and mainpage, but could not log in.  Multiple requests by both email addy and username did not generate the new password as requested.  Only when Matt contacted Chris and I received a presumably direct email did I get the new password.

No biggie other than Matt slandering my good name. ;D

It's a dang conspiracy, it is.  With all due respect to Chris and Scott, this smells rotten.

Oh sure, the Celts lost (lord only knows why JM is celebrating so, part of a 2-8 run by the Celts - not sure what sort of clever lead-up-to-the-playoffs strategy it is, but they sure are sneaky) but what hurts more is the betrayal of a friend and the coercion by which it arose.

Et tu, Chuckles? :o

Oh sure, you tell me JM put you up to it, but no emails unless I contact you first?  The shame, the sorrow.

At least OCB is still supportive.  Thank goodness for that, lest I think this site was a conspiracy against me (even my fellow Canuck is flinging banners about).  Finally, FINALLY I reach a level of fame and fortune that an actual internet thread bears my name (though grossly misspelled) and I find I am unable to reply and must suffer the slings and arrows of said outrageous fortune.  Alas, poor Yorrick, I knew him well.  Huh?  Oh, sorry.

Point - the Lakers still suck, they had to steal a team from another state.

Point - basketball sucks relative to hockey.

Point - I was indeed away until Wednesday night and not anywhere near Shaq ::)

Point - I guess now that I'm famous, I should be a mod, huh?

Point - where's Mel Gibson when you need him.

Now, where did I put that copy of Catcher in the Rye?  Ah, by the Shakespeare...

I do indeed use Canucklehead a lot in conversation.  Canuckada, Canuckian work too.  Not sure if I can lay claim to any of them though.

Canucklehead, IIRC, is from Wolverine comics.  He's the best there is at what he does.  Drinkin' beer, near as I can tell.

Hey there, I won't chicken out, I'll just happen to be on an airplane on my way to Madison.  I may not be able to come in here for a couple of days to heap the abuse on to you that you will so richly  deserve, so hopefully Scott will be a temporary Celtics fan for me tomorrow.

Wanna bet?  Your wife for my poster?
