Other Collectibles / Re: Any One Have This?

Hey Scott, did they release an ICMG card in the TCG for the new Empire Strikes Back? I have a few cards, but I would imagine to fill a 210 card set that he might be there. I'll look into it, but if anyone knows, let us know please.

Vintage Kenner / Re: My 'Top 20' Tri-logo loose variants =

Okay. So I'm embarrassing myself here...

So can you list the distinguishing features of a Tri-Logo (loose) figure versus a standard American released figure please? If I have a Chewbacca that was on a Tri-Logo card, what will make him unique from the regular American carded release? You definitely have this market cornered and I am very inpressed with the depth of your knowledge on this topic. Any time I can learn more about variations, I dive right in...

Do you know any good links where I can check out images that  show the different variations?

Well Dale you are older than me, but I am in the same boat...

- I believe the old home video system for pong, only operated... Pong. One would plug it in and just use the built in dials to move about. A friend my age (Memory insert to figure my age... We collected football cards and they had a color border. It was the year prior to the rookie and only year Earl Campbell had a card. That would be 1978. So the year prior - 1977 and I was a hefty 8 years old and about to be introduced to Star Wars.) had a Combat video system with only Combat built into the console. Atari decided to put out a system that operated cartridges shortly after...

- My neighbor/friend's older brother (at MIT now for about 15 years now) got the first Texas Instruments TV pc. It was a keyboard with a cartridge/disc slot. This was 1979? or so. The guy started programing on it a week after he got it and created his own video games. Think he's a government secret now...

- Played the heck out of another friend's Intellivision (much more advanced than the Atari 2600, but what does that say?). The sports games on that could not be beat.

- My first game for the Atari 2600 (other than the standard Combat) was Pacman. I think my bros and I overheated the console that Christmas day despite Pacman not being anything like the original arcade game. The sounds were high pitched boings and a 'Clukah' sound when you ate the power ball. My mom went into therapy from the sounds of that and the Mattel handhelds we endlessly played.

Unbelievable!!!

I can't tell you how much I loved to play it! My buddy and I used to toke tough and then get lost in a full game or 5 at the mall before it was shut down.

I was a stoner, but am no more. Just thought I'd clear that up. Not many older memories that are of the sober nature. But all good times!

Nice hansloroll!

The Atari 2600. Awesome! My brothers and I were trying to pull out the classic games we enjoyed on the Atari 2600.

Here are some titles on Atari 2600 that I loved:

Adventure
Raiders of the Lost Arc
Krull
Chopper Command
Pitfall
Jungle Hunt
Ka-Boom

I'm sure there are more...

Modern Trading / Re: looking for these figures loose

What do you have to trade? I have quite a few figures you are interested in.

I'm impressed Billy Boy. This is one of the few variation releases I have not yet looked into. It's had me digging for a while and I still do not feel confident enough to post my own.

I guess my only question is where is Yak Face? He was exclusive to Tri-Logo releases. That makes him a variation of the original releases. This is his only variation, but he seems pretty much in the mix.

- first 2 figures were Chewbacca & C-3PO. Had the pick of the litter at the age of 7 (think I saw A New Hope 27 times in the theater on the Hill in Boulder, CO (Flatirons Theater and it's still there and still showing flicks). There must've been something about gold. I would love to see who the top selling figure was those first few weeks. I would not doubt that C-3PO was up there.

- Had all the figures from the original film, but only the Land Speeder vehicle. I passed up the Millennium Falcon for the RC R2-D2 (no obstacles) and Evel Kneivel Canyon jumping Dragster with parachute that really works! Could have cared less about card backs or even cards or any packaging. It was an obstacle that got in the way of imagination and creating my own Star Wars scenes with friends.

- No clue about Boba Fett or mail-aways.

- Had a bonfire of black plastic Kenner smoke when I was 14 or so. My pyro phase didn't last long. But the regret I endure each day has lasted way too long.

Saw them at a small club when they toured the Undesputed Attitude tour. Sat in the balcony (old renovated theatre) because I knew better and it was the best! John Dette was drumming and he has chops that rival both Lombardo and Bostoph. But being able to watch them perform and not get a boot in the head or a body flting into you was pure joy!

I'm glad we are starting to see renewed interest in metal. It was scary there for awhile...

Slayer never waned though. They saw it through and kept plugging and never missed a beat. I respect them for their work ethic and dedication to their dark art.

I used to blame them for my problems...

I wasn't a very smart or responsible or sober youth. I'd get in deep doo-doo and everytime I did, I'd go sell my slayer albums and say I was going to turn over a new leaf. Not long after that, I'd pick up another album and just repeat it. Have seen and experienced some strange stuff with Slayer as my lifes soundtrack.

Did anyone ever figure out how to pull up the plastic frame under the screen and at the back of the control shelf and retrieve the keys to the game? Such a rumor, never saw legitimate proof.

Used a Chuck E. Cheese token in the change machine at one arcade and when I pushed the coin return button, I'd get 5 tokens. I think I ended up selling Chuck E. Cheese tokens for $5 a piece!

The games that hooked me early:
Space Invaders
Star Castle
Dig Dug
Asteroids
Tempest
Donkey Kong
Berzerk
Gorf
Vanguard
Q-Bert
Centipede

The games that kept me hooked:
Donkey Kong Junior
Robotron
Elevator Action (such a great game!)
Spy Hunter
Road Blasters
Cyberball
Narc
Smash TV
Commando (with the machine gun. So good!)

At least it got us out in the world and didn't make us isolated. So I was red eyed and cotton mouthed and throwing down great pizza and cheese fries. It was worth every quarter I spent and every minute I wasted.

Did anyone else buy the code books and figure out the level patterns for different games? I'd love to have one of those books today. The pattern of the ghosts in Pac-Man and how you could get super close and they'd shift in the other direction at certain points...

They would post high scores at one place called the Milky Way. Every top 10 dude was a bonafide stoner. This one guy played Defender forever and just ended up leaving because he needed to use the bathroom. I think the home gaming systems are cool (I own a PS2), but they cut us off from the culture of the arcade scene. All the games I see out now are way too interactive for me. We need an old school arcade or 2 around. Thing is, it would be full of middle age dudes like us. Kids these days could not hang with the retro graphics and game play.

I guess Judas Priest with Halford is on the Ozzfest bill too...

Not ashamed to say, that makes it even more attractive to endure the scads of angst ridden teens, posers & those that have started taking the Rave Wave to metal shows.

You know what I'm saying. It's a sea of dudes that are early to mid 20's and they date these high school girls and distort/destroy their innocence and lead them down the path of loserdome. Damn shame.

Used to be just dudes and everyone at the shows was there because they appreciated the music and the energy. Now it's a matter of what flavor of music is 'IN' at that moment... Metal is getting pretty tasty again.

I've seen the naive Slayer fans try and be up front. They don't understand what occurs. It's pure insanity. It's a primal dance of violent aggression and release. Slayer turns a crowd into a sea of... Hell. It's chaotic and instinctual. It is evil and pleasurable.

I was up front once on the Kerry King side. After the 2 opening songs (Reign in Blood & Post Mortum) I was on the Hanneman side without having moved a muscle. I was a part of something that did not make any sense and just flowed with it all...

Really amazing. The effect that Slayer has on people is petty scary, but profound and unique. Love it all!

Saw the $100 one too. Very cool. I have a few fairly limited Slayer items that I treasure.

- Araya pick
- Flyer for an L. A. show with Slayer, Exodus & Venom
- Limited Edition 'Decade of Aggression' with bonus live tracks and it is in a reinforced metal case that is individually #'d.

My buddy had a limited edition ep that came in a sleeve fill with a blood looking substance and glo-in-the-dark skulls or something like that.

I also found out that the early pressings of Show No Mercy (wax) have side 6 & side 66 instead of 1 & 2 or A & B.

Amazing that Slayer have endured 20 years and stayed true to their art.

I also heard a rumor about Paul Bostoph joining the newly ressurected Testament!

And...

Lamb of God & Slayer are slated for Ozzfest. I might actually go...

My wife just surprised me with Slayer's 4-disc 'Soundtrack to the Apocalypse' set. It's about a $60 investment and worth every penny!!! Remastered older stuff, unreleased songs, limited release songs, dvd footage dating back to 1983 and just awesome! Garage recordings, interviews and a 50+ page booklet with quotes and killer photos.

I have been really into Lamb of God and "Terror and Hubris" lately, but this is too good and harkens back to a day when it was all new and you could say, "Slayer is the fastest and most evil band ever!"

If you have not gotten it, save up and do. It's chock full o goodies for any Slayer fanatic.
