I don't follow NCAA football that much (aside from NC State, and QB Phillip Rivers is getting the Heisman shaft), but I think it's ludicrous that a team that loses their conference championship game, in blowout fashion, and holds the same record as the other Top 2 teams, still gets to play for the National Championship while the No. 1 team in the 2 other polls that actually matter, plays 2nd fiddle.

"Second fiddle"?  No, not really.  If USC wins in the Rose Bowl, they'll be guaranteed a share of the championship with whoever wins the OU/LSU game, so it's not like they're totally ass-out here.

There are definite problems with the current system, but there's not a whole lot to do when there's three one-loss teams--someone's going to get left out.  (And they don't all have identical records--OU and LSU are both 12-1, and USC is 11-1).

When that happens, what other option do you have than to look at the quality wins and losses that each of the teams had?
Looking at those, OU deserves to be in the title game just as much as anybody.

OU:  Quality wins over Texas (5) and Oklahoma St. (22)
        Lost to Kansas State (10)

LSU:  Quality wins over Georgia (11) (twice) and Mississippi (18)
         Lost to Florida (17)

USC:  Quality win over Washington State (14)
          Lost to California (unranked)

Now, I'm for a playoff system, too, but that doesn't matter.  Doesn't matter that OU lost on the last day of the year, just like it doesn't matter that USC lost two and a half months ago.  What does matter is that both OU and LSU have better wins than USC, and better losses, too.

My new favorite team, by the way, is Michigan.

GO BLUE!!!   8)

I assume your sig accordingly played into one of your answers, correct?   ;)

Oh, most definitely.

I was pretty liberal when it came to answering the questions, so I had a relatively high score, comparatively-speaking (fourth highest out of the people who've posted to this thread so far).  So when the "shave your legs?" question came up, I answered yes, even though the only time a razor blade has ever touched my legs was about ten years ago, when I shaved a little patch off, just to see if hair really did come in thicker if you shaved it off (it didn't).  Same thing with the fingernail polish question--I've never worn fingernail polish regularly, but I've put it on a time or two in the past as a goof or whatever, so I answered yes.

So I received my Alien Quadrilogy today from DDD, and this thing is over five feet long when fully unfolded.  Pretty amazing.

I've only watched a little bit of the bonus ninth disc so far, but it seems awfully in-depth, and I'm looking forward to delving into the rest of the set.  Probably going to watch Resurrection first, since it's the only one I haven't seen yet, even though a lot of people don't seem to like it.

45 hours of stuff. . .  See you guys on Wednesday.

Stargate (called Defender II in this and most other classic game packages for some mysterious reason)

Just saw this on another forum:

Regarding Stargate vs. Defender II, from a post on USENET:

"When Eugene Jarvis created Defender some people loved the
game because of the challenge; other people hated the game
because of the "over" abundance of buttons on the control panel.

The next game in "the Defender family" was first given the name
Stargate Defender by Eugene Jarvis and the crew at Williams.

Since there was a movie studio that had a script titled Stargate
about a device that transports people across time, space &
dimensions; Williams chose not to cause further confusion.

Williams had started marketing the game with a title change
from Stargate Defender to Defender II."

Just picked up a couple of these bad boys at an Oklahoma City Wal-Mart--first new Star Wars figures I've bought since January, actually.  Just now opened one up, and I haven't had a chance to really "play" with it yet, but it really is a neat little figure.  It's articulated everywhere it should be articulated, and although the cardback says it has 14 points, I consider it to have 18 points, since both the elbows and the knees have both the swivel and the "back and forth" (for lack of a better term) articulation ('course, I also refer to the POTF coins as "medallions", and not "coins").   :P

The thighs look just fine to me.

No complaints at all, here--other than that this figure kicks the crap out of the CommTech Stormtrooper.  After this, we really need to see a Stormtrooper done up in the same style, in the next year or two.

Never before has someone sound so melodic, even with such sharp, pubescent, voice cracks.

Honestly, I am quite a fan of the "Lilith Fair" artists, just not their clientele.

As for whats spinning, Pete Yorn - Just Another Girl.

well, than i must be about the best off person you're ever likely to find... hmmm, the best-off person just doesn't sound quite right, does it?

I say, as long as Gregg still has a heartbeat, then nobody should be throwing the "best-off" phrase around, but that's just me. . .

We all pale in comparison to the Wonder from Down Under. . .

Well, my comment was more of an inside reference to someone than anything else, but I'll definitely agree with you and add that people aren't defined by the music they listen to (yes, that even goes for you, Pearl Jam Fanboy).  I'm of the belief that the more varied your tastes, the better you're off. . .

As for me, I'm listening to the post-game interview for Oklahoma.   :-[

Great game tonight, KSU. . .
