I'm just getting real tired of seeing only new screenshots from A New Hope.  When are they going to show screenshots from The Empire Strikes Back and more screenshots from Return of the Jedi? Nobody answer that.

There will probably be a veritable assload of screenshots and movies from Empire and Jedi after next weekend.

There has been a lot of new information on Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy today.  The teaser trailer is up, there are some new screenshots, and there are some videos at Gamespot.com.

I hope Luke Skywalker will be able to use his father's lightsaber in the A New Hope portion of the game in story mode.

I think there will be more at E3

Let's just keep looking for more updates through the summer.

This game looks like loads of fun, but I still yearn for a four-player versus battle mode...It would easily become a wicked cool party game with such.

The A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back portions of the game are complete.  Now it's only a matter of time before we see the Return of the Jedi portion of the game complete.

I've seen the demo played but I never tried the demo myself.  I'm still surfing the web for some updates on the Return of the Jedi portion of the game.

Check out Gamespy.

Thanks for the link JayDouble.  I just got done reading the review (for Gamecube), and it seems very positive.  I don't know that I've looked forward to a new video game this much for awhile, and I can't wait to pick this up on Tuesday.  I've been holding onto a Best Buy gift card for just that occasion :).  I actually just picked up the first LEGO Star Wars a month or so ago since it was a "Greatest Hits" selection at Target, and thought it was a lot of fun.  Now there will be a version set in the OT?  I'm sold. :)

Not sure on Best buy yet.

XBOX 360 >>>> $49.99
PS2 / PSP / XBOX >>>> $39.99 (assuming GameCube here, too)
Nintendo DS >>>> $34.99
GBA >>>> $29.99

The prices are pretty much the same everywhere--the only difference is that Target will have the DS version for $30 while the other two will have it for $35.

360 - $50
PS2/PSP/XBOX/GC - $40
GBA - $30

So really, the difference comes down to the freebies.  Do you want the $5 giftcard at Target, or the t-shirt at Circuit?  (Best Buy doesn't have any freebies, apparently.)

Okay, I'm a dumbass, but I have to ask:

On the first level with the Tantive IV (can you tell I'm not a hardcore gamer), how the hell do you get anyone besides Threepio over the chasm to the door?  I tried to pick up the other Rebel and R2-D2 with the crane, but neither of them will go within the range of the crane, and even when I switch, none of them can jump/fly over the chasm.  Am I missing a really obvious trick?

Picked up the game today, but I won't get to play it until later tonight. I'll give thoughts after that.

Anybody else have a really hard time finding this game, specifically the Xbox version? I went to about 5 stores before I finally found a copy at EB Games.

Well, I found the way across the chasm (another one of those situations where I had to "tag in" along the lines of Anakin and Obi-Wan during the duel with Dooku in the first LSW game), and I just finished the ANH section tonight.  Overall I had a lot of fun playing the first third of the game, and I was pretty happy that a lot more cut scenes were used between levels with some being absolutely hilarious.  I won't spoil it for anyone, but the whole section after the gang get to the Falcon on the Death Star was laugh out loud funny.

Favorite visual so far though is Chewbacca running around with a Stormtrooper helmet on, waving at security cameras.   :D

Title: Re: Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Post by: Matt_Fury on September 16, 2006, 05:26 PM
I've installed and played a few levels.  I'm playing them in order, so I'm still in the ANH levels...I think I have one more to go in Story Mode.  I'll complete all the levels in Story Mode, then go back and free play all of them to get all the minikit pieces and true Jedi status to open the "Jabba Door".  So far it's just as good as the first game with a few improvements.

The characters will go hand-to-hand in close quarters (except Jedi) and it's kinda cool to see Chewbacca ripping the arms off Stormtroopers!  ;D

Title: Re: Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Post by: DoctorPadawan on September 17, 2006, 12:37 PM
After an hour or so of flying back and forth on the first level of the "Empire" section, I'm at a loss of how I'm supposed to get out.  I used the Snowspeeder tow cable on the 10 AT-STs, and no matter where I go, they just keep on coming, with no apparent exit (for me, at least) and no decrease in amounts of Imperials.   :-\

So, I went ahead and started the ROTJ section, and had a lot of fun.  The only thing I was kind of surprised at was Luke's relative ineffectual lightsaber use against the Gammorreans in Jabba's Palace (the Force choke works really well, though), and the seeming nigh-invincibility of the Rancor.  I also found it kind of funny that you can use the Jedi Mind Trick on Lando when he's wearing the Skiff Guard disguise.   :)

Overall, I have to say that I really love the first Lego SW game, and this one, like Matt says, seems to be just as good as the first one.

Oh crimany, it took me FOREVER to figure this out. Remember those purple missile things? You have to take one up to the cave at the very top of the area, use it to destroy the ice and fly through into the next section. The rest of the level is just a bitch to get through, since AT-STs will be attacking you while you try and tow the AT-ATs.

As for me, I'm also playing in order, and I've just finished the ground part of the Battle of Endor, I believe there are 2 levels left for me to finish. Then it's off to Free Play mode and redoing Story Mode to get all the extras. I also love how you can use Prequel characters from the first game in Free Play mode.

Great game!

The levels that I played were Secret Plans (A New Hope), Through The Jundland Wastes (A New Hope), and the beginning of Jabba's Palace (Return of the Jedi) [Note: I did not get up to the point where you battle Jabba the Hutt's pet rancor].

I loved the first Lego game,  play it all the time with my nephew.  I hope this game improved the default keys for two players; you can't fit two people on a keyboard like that!  I hate having to reset them all.

My sister bought this game for my nephew's birthday, I have to wait till the end of October to play it now! lol

One question....can you play the Original Dark Forces on later Mac OS versions?

Lego SW 1 is. I saw it at an Apple store, so SWL II should be coming soon.

Good question. I played that one on my old system 9 mac. I only have a handful of games and the ones I play on a more regular basis, like Galactic Battlegrounds, all had OSX updates, except for Civilization II. Since I completed Dark Forces, I never bothered to look for the upgrade.

Do they make it for the MAC?
Lego SW 1 is. I saw it at an Apple store, so SWL II should be coming soon.

I must confess that I've been thinking about a 360, so if I do break down, SW Lego two will definitely be a purchase.

I got Lego Star Wars 2 The Original Trilogy for XBOX last week.  I beat and won the whole game.  I just still need to go back and pick up what I missed.  However, I did not like the yub yub victory theme in the game.  I would have much rather preferred the Return of the Jedi Special Edition victory theme.

Post by: Matt_Fury on October 12, 2006, 08:35 PM
If you've only beaten the story mode, you may have at best beaten 50% of the game.

I've beaten almost every level on story mode, thebattle of Hoth and the level where you destroy the Death Star II I need to get true Jedi Status in story mode.  I finally found the red brick that allows you to purchase invincibility, so I can go back and play them again.

Did you also notice the price for the Obi-Wan, Yoda, Anakin ghost characters?   :o

I've managed to get the vast majority of the gold bricks, with only one minkit canister eluding me (the one with the nigh-impossible-on-a-PC green flyover trick in the "Rebel Attack" (Death Star) level of ANH.  I've beaten them all in story and free play mode, imported the characters/minkits from L:SW 1, and I fiddled around with one of the "secret" levels outside the Cantina last night.  I've gotten all 10 bounty hunter missions, and all that remains inside the Cantina is the Super Story mode on TESB and ROTJ, and the character and minikit bonuses, and I'm complete.

I think that the one extra that will do more good than anything else is the "score x" extra on several levels.  I think it's pretty much impossible to beat some of the character bonus levels without one.  I'm gradually going through the more "score heavy" levels to increase my total so I can at least get the double score extra.

Overall, the game is great, and a worthy successor (and dare I say improvement) on the superb L:SW 1 game.  Loads of fun.

Is there a way to do a super Jedi jump or something.  On free play in the Emperor's throne room in the last level of ROTJ, there's a bunch of stuff way up high.  My AI comrade can do these super jumps to get up there, but I can't.

Is the AI partner just cooler than me, or is there a way to do those kind of jumps (I'm talking about practically flying; it's not the double jump)?

I just got a chance to finish the game up on Monday, and I look forward to playing it some more with some of the extra stuff.  Such a fun game, probably the most fun I've had playing a game like that (non sports) since the NES days :).  It kind of reminds me of those days - simpler graphics and gameplay in many cases, but just a blast to play.

To add to Matt Fury's comment, you then have to turn on the code from the Cheats menu. Then when you go to Free Play, you can select the old characters. They aren't able to walk around inside/outside of the Cantina though, which is sort of a bummer.

I've finished all of ANH & ESB, & on Battle of Endor. Pretty good for 2 weeks of play.
The vehicle levels are much more fun/easier than LSW1. I'm stuck on the vehicle levels on LSW 1 those are hard because of the rails.

Im on the Palpatine duel, how many gold bricks do you need for Lego land? Is it all 99? Will the old save have characters from LSW1 if your'e still unlocking them, as you unlock them in LWS1 or do I have to wait until I got all the characters?
Title: Re: Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy

You only need 60 gold bricks for the question mark entrance to lego land.

As far as using the old saves, I did not unlock all the characters and was able to use all the characters from LSW1.

This series is popular & I wouldlike to see EU now.

Do the Bonus things like Invincibility or Super Blasters work in story mode? It'sprobally the only way I'll get TJS on SM, besides Tantive IV which I got the first time playing it.

I found the everything on Dagobah, let me know if I can help.

What's the deal with the power bricks? I've unlocked a few, but haven't noticed a difference.

I'm up to about 75% now. Still short two med kits on the first level (Tanive IV) and for the life of me, can't find the power brick on the Luke/Vader Bespin Level. Not sure if I'm ready to cheat yet.

The red power bricks unlock items you can purchase in the cantina (like the Mini-Kit Detector).

I've kind of stalled on playing the game.  Last thing I did was open the Question Mark room to Lego Land.

Right. I've unlocked and bought quite a few, but really haven't noticed any difference during game play. For instance, invulnerability (which I've bought,) the only character's that are invulnerable are the ghosts which I assume are built in to the characters.

Right, and thanks to a door to door salesman, I figured out how to turn the abilities on after I purchas them. I has rearly put the game on pause, so never noticed the option. :P

Last night I found the last of the medkits. Ironically, I only used the detector for three, and all three were in ANH. The detector brick was the last orange brick I found. I muct have circled Luke's x-wing on Bespin a hundred times before it finally caught my eye.

All I have left are the three super stories and whatever gets unlocked after that.

Deanna, I'll do ESB first and make notes on Dagobah. I know the area where that last one is at, I'm trying to remember the trick on getting it.

Deanna, there are three near that area, but I don't specifically recall one in the mushroom area.

One is before you get there on a ledge right near where you build the tractor trailer,

the one you get when you destroy the three hatches and

the one right after the mushrooms in the chasm area that you have to use Vader, or the Emperor to build a bridge. That last one was tricky, you build half the bridge, walk out on it ad buils the other half.

Hope that helps.

Last month during Christmas break I finally reached 100% on my first saved game of Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy.  Not really to mention that I also built up the infinite studs fountain.

Started playing another game to play a more efficient one. During Free Play, I made it a point to go for the Score x2 Brick early. Huge help. I had to play the first level a few time to earn some studs, but by the time I played ROTJ, my stud totals went up fast. I was getting True Jedi instantly. By Chapter 5, I had all the Orange brick and earned over 300,000,000 studs during that round. Lots of fun.

Does anyone have a list of where all the red bricks are located?
