TRIPLE FORCE FRIDAY ANNOUNCED (https://www.starwars.com/news/triple-force-friday?cmp=smc%7C2136706462) @ StarWars.com

Let the countdown begin.

Triple Force Friday, the latest in a tradition of Star Wars product launches, is set for October 4, Lucasfilm and Disney announced today. The event will see the debut of brand-new products inspired by three of the year’s biggest Star Wars releases, including:

- The highly anticipated, final installment of the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: Episode IX
- The first-ever Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian, set to debut exclusively on the upcoming streaming service, Disney+.
- The latest title from EA and Respawn — Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order — a brand-new action-adventure game releasing holiday 2019

Products spanning categories from toys to collectibles, housewares, books, apparel, and more will go on sale beginning at 12:01 a.m. on October 4. As with past Force Friday celebrations, stores around the world will join the festivities with in-store events and midnight openings.

Stay tuned to StarWars.com for more on Triple Force Friday!

Oh my.

That’s a lot to be toy boned up about.  Can’t lie that the Mandalorian and the game kind of have my attention more than 9, though any TVC 9 stuff has me curious too.  Love me some midnight madness with friends but without TRU I kind of wonder how this plays out?  Locally only TRU ever had its **** together.

Walmart was Walmart.  And Target had a fraction what TRU ever put out.  Kinda curious how this is gonna go now.

Locally only TRU ever had its **** together.

Same here except for the TFA fiasco.  Still,  TRU made it a big deal: gave freebies (T-Shirt and posters) to those that came out at midnight (I guess Target had the drawing for the huge Porg, right?).  I'll miss having an "event" to go to.

Perhaps the rumors of TRU's rebirth might come to fruition and we'll have that fun again.  Then again, TRU's big event usually meant they bought three times as much stock of wave 1 than its competitors and you'd never see later waves there...

TRU Kids might be a player in time for the Episode 9 line launch. There was the press release earlier in the week, and now there’s a Geoffrey mascot parading around the Javits Center for Toy Fair today. This might be a lot more likely to happen than the KB Toys relaunch that never got off the ground.

Missing TRU already. Don't know where me and my buddies are going to camp out.

I noticed there is no reference to the final Clone Wars episodes in that press release. Will that mean no TCW toys? I sure hope not.

I think that Clone Wars may be released later.  Probably because Disney will want The Mandalorian to be able to stand on it's own.

I'm probably the only one who couldn't care less about Force Friday this year. If the last few years are any indication, 90% of the first 1-2 waves will be able to be had for $10 or less by Christmas, so the desire to rush out to beat scalpers for the first figures is low. I don't know if I will want to own any products from The Mandalorian, and likely won't until I see the show. And who on earth could be excited about another EA Star Wars game after the first two travesties they've put out?

I like the night out with buddies but without TRU I really dunno how this will play out.  Only a couple Target stores around here even did anything and Walmart was hit or miss if their toy people knew it was going on even for days later.

My days of doing a midnight madness event are long gone.  The last one I did was back in 2005 for the ROTS line and that was at TRU.  And during the ST era I've been living in a county that doesn't allow stores to be open at midnight, so there isn't even the option of going if I wanted to.

Besides, I think I might wind up taking the day off to see if I can binge watch The Mandalorian that day!

I did the midnight madness once.  Since then I've done the 7AM madness at Target the next morning and usually ended up with good hauls.

Midnight madness is played out especially since all of those figures will be peg warmers for at least a year.

My days of doing a midnight madness event are long gone.

Same here.  The last few Force Friday releases, I ordered some stuff online (like a case of basic figures) or just waited for clearance on others.  Hard to get amped up to pay $30-50 for vehicles that will be 50% off on Amazon by Christmas time.   I think for TLJ I got the A-Wing for $20 like a month after release and the Canto Police thingy for like $12 a couple months later.

It's definitely not like it was 20 years ago when the movies opened in May.

I usually don't buy vehicles due to space issues, but when I saw the A-Wing for $5 at 5 Below and the TIE Silencer for $9 at Ross I couldn't pass.

I did the same but still enjoyed meeting friends out...  but again, no TRU kind of messes the formula up since they had it together on this.  I think I bought one figure for Rogue One and nothing for TLJ but that wampa.  Of course TVC was nowhere to be found sooooo yeah.

I do midnight madness solely for the hanging out with my friends. I have few excuses to really drop everything for some me time, so Midnight Madness has been a great excuse to do so. Not sure where we can go without TRU.

Keeping the thread alive, but has there been any news or previews of what to expect for the new movie toys and collectibles (apart from the 6” Sith Trooper)?  I would think we’d have heard a little more by this point, but it seems everything has been pretty tight-lipped about this film so far...

I'll list the basics here.  If you're interested in tracking leaked specifics, I'd suggest following along with the Master UPC/SKU/DPCI List (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2019/01/08/2019-master-upc-dpci-sku-list/) at Yakface.

The Vintage Collection 3.75"
 - one wave of six TVC figures expected at launch, more to follow in Fall 2019
 - at least one exclusive TVC figure (Yavin Ceremony Luke) at launch, more to follow in Fall 2019
 - at least one TVC vehicle (X-Wing) with another (Ep9) coming at some point Fall 2019

Galaxy of Adventures 5"
 - GOA 5" basic figures
 - GOA 5" figure 2-packs
 - GOA Rancor
 - GOA Vehicle(s)
 - possibly more?

The Black Series 6"
 - one wave of eight basic BS 6" figures
 - at least one exclusive BS 6" figure, potentially more

6 measly figures... so sad.

I suppose they've had sequel trilogy launches with only like a dozen or so before.  Maybe by the time it's all said and done they'll do the film justice, but it'd be a real shame to have a fraction of the representation on the shelf that 7 and 8 got.

I was thinking about this today, but it is looking like this will be the cheapest Midnight Madness - or Force Friday - I've ever been to. I'm guessing that is true of many. The lineup for me (and that's even if I can find it all), is the vintage collection wave, aaaand a handful of Black Series figures. We have the rumored Vintage Collection vehicles, but since they haven't "leaked", I'm guessing they won't be out that day. Not that I'm complaining about not having to spend a fortune, but if I find everything I'm looking for I'm looking at 6 TVC figures and maybe 3-4 Black Series figures.

The global reveal for licensed product will be on YouTube this Thursday at 2 PM ET.  Check out the teaser:

Star Wars Triple #ForceFriday Global Reveal Livestream Teaser (https://youtu.be/9HzFuhHv6bw)

This appears to be footage from the event, so it's clear that LFL pretaped these segments to air in the event on Thursday.  While the previous global reveal events have been interesting, some of them could have benefited from some editing in order to hold the attention of the audience.

I just watched the Global Reveal livestream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj4t7vIuRDY) and was very surprised to see that The Vintage Collection was not represented.... AT ALL.  The only 3.75" figures that were shown were the 5 POA gold renditions of C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8.

The 6" Black Series had far more time during this media event, along with the Funko Pop! line and some select Lego items.

BTW, the remote control D-O looks pretty awesome.

Pretty cool that they got a ton of the actors to be part of the reveal.

CAUTION - I started to watch the reveal and ended up stopping as I felt there were too many spoilers involved and mostly stopped.  I'm a little anal in that I don't want to see much more than the trailers as we lead up to Dec 19th.  For example, they brought in Keri Russel and it became apparent what her character was in the movie and I didn't want to know that yet.

I did quickly scan through to catch a few glimpses but didn't dig in.  That remote control D-O looks cool.

Although we have started to see a lot more pictures get released now, after the fact, I was initially a little surprised how short/condensed the "global video" was. Some neat new Black Series reveals - and that D-O looks pretty cool - but overall it was sort of here's some Funko, here's some Black Series, and here's some LEGO. No TVC  at all, some GOA stuff, and that's about it. I guess I remember the Force Awakens one being several hours? Maybe I'm remembering that incorrectly.

I'm kind of curious about this Target exclusive Collector Mystery Box.  Reports indicate that there's going to be a mystery figure packed in, and the packaging leads me to believe that it might be a Black Series figure.  Does anyone have any kind of clue if it's going to be one character that's only available in this release, or are we looking at a kind of blind box situation?

Kind of wondering how big this "event" is going to be this Friday. It could just be me, but the store I work at has been getting in Frozen II and Star Wars stuff over the past week plus, and I'm guessing it has been about 6 to 1 Frozen to Star Wars ratio. A few cases of Black Series and a handful of GOA, no sign of TVC stuff yet. At least as far as action figures go, it hasn't been much so far.

Almost 48 hours out now and I’ve decided I’m all in...online, in-store, late night, early morning the whole shebang. I have some money saved up now and I’d just as soon grab everything at once.

I’m guessing we will only actually see about a third of what has been revealed so far. One case of TVC, one case of 6”, those crappy gold figures and a bunch of role play junk. Oh and the Target Mystery Box. Maybe their Carbonized figure if we’re lucky.

Anyone think these will show up at any brick and mortar stores outside of Target or Walmart on Friday? I have heard some people talking about Best Buy. I’m not holding out hope for Walgreens or GameStop though.

Alright just about 24 hours out now, trying to work out the final details.

Target should have all these in a dedicated end cap right? Or failing that, hopefully in the toy aisle somewhere, I assume? Or do I need to check the seasonal overflow area too as in years past?

Walmart is likely to have everything in a stand-alone display I gather? Or again, strewn about randomly in the toy aisle which no longer has a dedicated SW section.

We’re not expecting the 6” Carbonized Jet Trooper or 2nd Sister I’m guessing?

Good luck to everyone!

Of course, your mileage may vary, but both of those should be out there on Friday.  All four of the Carbonized should be.  Twitter has a few reports of leaked Second Sisters that were put out at GameStop stores but register locked until 10/4.  The Carbonized Jet Trooper has also been spotted in the Walmart shippers.

I saw some leaks at Kohl's the other day.  It was some roleplay stuff and the Galaxy of Adventures figures.  Seeing those and no 3.75" or 6" figures was a little dispiriting.  And while I got a little bit of a look at the 5" figures, I honestly felt like I couldn't even be bothered to look at them all that closely.

Can't say I'm too excited about the launch. My plan is to go online and buy $75 worth of LEGO to get the special free 20th Anniversary Line Endor set, then try to get the Mandalorian figure off of Amazon.

Can't get to Target until Saturday at the earliest due to work and my high school football broadcasts, and allegedly Walmart is only getting 1 case of everything, and I played that song and dance in 2015 so no thank you.

I was debating whether to stop by WM or not. It is kind of on the way to Target, and I haven’t seen any evidence at the store where I work getting any of the Vintage Collection stuff in. I’m planning on checking some places after taking the kiddo to school, but won’t get anywhere “at open”, so we will see what kind of luck I have. Mainly looking for the TVC figures, a couple Black Series figures (specifically the Mando and Rey), and I would maybe be tempted by the TVC vehicles if I see them.

Whew, I did a lot of reconnaissance today and was able to glean some good info.

I saw the new Target endcap display with giant Rey and Kylo holding their lightsabers.  No actual merchandise yet but now I know where to head tomorrow morning. Looks like one side is fully dedicated to Funko and the other side Hasbro.

I swung by GameStop and watched a guy bust open a box of new figs he was planning to put out overnight. interestingly, they were all black boxes he also offered to hold a Carbonized Second Sister for me so I was very appreciative of that.

I predict a lot of driving tonight but hopefully success.  :)

Took a drive around after taking the kiddo to school and hit one WM and one Target. Both stores had an end cap display and a free standing display. WM had a mix of things, including TVC figures (minus Knight of Ren, but including Skiff Lando). Also GoA stuff, Black Series (no Mando, but they did have the carbonized jet trooper), the Skiff, and the usual lightsabers and Funko POPs. Target had no TVC (or place for them), Black Series (and carbonized Mando exclusive), GoA, Funko, etc. Overall, my purchases:

WalMart
TVC Rey, X-Wing Luke, Poe, and Zorii Bliss
GoA Chewbacca (curious to check one of these out)

Target
Black Series Rey and D-O, the Mandalorian, Exclusive Carbonized Mandalorian

Online
TVC Sith Jet Trooper, Rey, X-Wing Luke (Target)
TVC Knight of Ren (BBTS)

No shows for me locally: TVC Knight of Ren, “First Release” White Boxed Black Series, TVC X-Wings, and only one Black Series Mando between my two stops. I saw multiples of other figures outside of the TVC Knight and BS Mando, who seemed to really be the most popular.  Side note - WAY more Frozen II product out there today than Star Wars.

The small Target near me probably had five cases of 6" figures out, but only one Vintage 3.75" case.  I was second in the store and missed out on most of the 3.75" figures as a result.

Now I'm wondering how well the 3.75" line is even going to be supported at retail.  I may have to rely on HasbroPulse for a lot of these figures.

Same story at the Target I went to... I got a Bliss, Jet Trooper, and Rey.  The X-Wing Pilot I don't need, and there was no sign of the Knight.

I feel like today was a massive dud.  A year ago we had the barge on the way, all those great TVC offerings... tons of new, and generally pretty good 5 POA figures.  And now the big trilogy conclusion launch has almost zero new 3.75” product.  I know we’ve been talking about this for months... but man what a disappointment.

Agreed, although TFF is kind of weird anyhow.

The movie and video game are one and two+ months away, so its mostly collectors like us that are paying attention.

Six inch figures had a fairly robust offering, but everything else seemed pretty weak.

If the five inch line is going to be the new focus, I would have expected a little more be made available.  I get it that maybe they're holding more back for the holiday / movie release since its kid oriented, but 8-10 figures and a small vehicle aren't much.  I don't think I've seen anything leaked beyond this initial wave, so its hard to tell how much more is coming for this line.

The Vintage Collection has been strangely manged for awhile, and today was no exception.  Three new figures and some repacks is pretty sparse, and there isn't a ton to look forward too that has been leaked.

I find it hard to be disappointed since we knew this is what was happening

Only thing I guess I find disappointing is the dumb street date stuff and that half the stores don’t even have stuff out.  It’s implied there is coordination but the reality is a lot of stores still don’t have their **** out because there simply isn’t coordination.  This really only ever worked with toys r us.  It’s easier to order online (from one of our wonderful sponsored links!) than it is to worry about finding it at a store.

I don’t care really, but finding some figures last night would’ve been nice.  I’ll live though.

Retail is really just a chore now.  I’m glad online is easier than it used to be.

Do you have targets by you not stocked? The reset for actual aisle was hit or miss but the endcap and the focal seemed all set here on MN

PREACH!

This is why Amazon is eating every other retailers lunch.  It is SO much easier than dealing with these brick and mortar chains.  Especially ones that have employees who are underpaid and as a result they don't really care.

After today, I'm pretty much done with trying to get things through brick-and-mortar stores.  Not when EE, Amazon and Hasbro Pulse are available.

I stopped at a Walmart this morning before work and they didn't get anything in.  I went by two Targets on my way home and I only saw one TVC X-Wing Luke on the pegs.  There's no point when the store only gets one case in!

I miss the 2005-2012 era of collecting.  The figures were, for the most part, really good and they were easy to find.

I didn't bother going out this morning. Ordered everything on-line.

I saw plenty of TVC at Targets, but only Wave 1. Saw skiffs at one lone Walmart, and no X-Wings.

Did finally score the elusive red A-Wing at ROSS though! Nice cap off to the day...only $7.99 too.

Agreed - last night and this morning was a real chore, and if I could just learn to "roll the dice" on getting the mint-on-card/mint-in-box items, I should really just order online.

I don't know why I did it, but I bought into the Graphite Editions for the Black Series - so I have all those (except for Amazon, that one is on it's way).

I also got a complete set of First Day Issue figures - again, not sure why, just did.

The only thing I didn't get enough of, was TVC figures - and I ordered them from Hasbro Pulse last night after my 2nd WalMart visit ended up being a total dud. I also ordered a set of X-Wings from them, and then another set of X-Wings from EE (using JD's affiliate links) - the EE ones will be my MIB ones.

I did get a set of those silly gold figures - again, other than "completeness" not sure why. And in a couple months, I'm sure I'll be seeing news that Hasbro is ending the 3.75" scale completely due to lack of sales or interest or whatever, and quite honestly, they have no one to blame but themselves. The Galaxy of Adventure figures are D.O.A. from what I've seen, plenty of them to go around, so either no one wants them or they've over-shipped them, doesn't really matter, retailers are going to be left holding the bag on them in a major way.

I missed Force Friday (or whatever they called it) for the Solo movie and when I finally got to a store, the ONLY 3.75" figures to be had were the Force Link 1.0 figures repacked in Force Link 2.0 packaging. So clearly, as "bad" as the 3.75" 5POA line was perceived as being, it at least moved. The problem was that, as is the case with all of the Hasbro assortments, the case ratios STINK. They should have stuck with having two TVC waves hit today with Wave 1 being: Rey, Sith Jet Trooper, Poe & Zorii Bliss (2x of each in the case) and Wave 2 being: Yavin Leia, X-Wing Luke, Knight of Ren, and once again Sith Jet Trooper (also 2x of each in the case) - and those would have all still done well.

Also, where the heck was the Yavin Luke WalMart exclusive? One WalMart I went into had a metric ton of Skiff Guard Lando figures!  ::)

Assortments, distribution and product focus are the problems that plague Hasbro Star Wars - not collector demand. From what I experienced today, if you were the 2nd person to hit any store today, you were pretty much shut out of TVC and/or the First Day Issue Black Series figures. In sharp contrast, I bet I could go into any store right now and grab a complete set of those 5" abortions called "Galaxy of Adventure".

I'm not arguing that the 5" stuff will be a success but not sure you can base any conclusions on how well the line will do based off of 8 hours of day one sales.

Yeah I don’t know that we will have a good idea on their success until after the holidays. I’m kind of interested to see how it all shakes out. The primary buyers on TFF (us) probably generally don’t care about these, and “average joe” consumer probably barely knows Star Wars stuff came out today. I picked up one, Chewbacca, just to see what they were like. Haven’t opened anything yet, but looks like a decent figure for $10.

Not sure whether this is any helpful observation on the topic of discussion, but I was surprised by the turnout, or lack thereof, with Triple Force Friday.  There were no midnight events in my area, so I went to a nearby Walmart right when it opened at 7:00am this morning.  There were only two other collectors there and the store was still in the process of putting the end caps and aisle displays out.  The other collectors and I had a nice time getting what we wanted and helping each other out, but we were surprised by how little there was overall.  Even the store stock manager was saying there really wasn’t all that much.  After the Walmart, I went to check out a nearby Target when it opened at 8:00am.  This time there was about 8 people and the store was still putting items out as we came in - the selection was largely the same as at Walmart.  After getting a couple items at Target that weren’t at Walmart, I went to another local Walmart that had no Star Wars out.  Asking an employee about where the Star Wars items might be, he said they had no plans for it, which seemed odd...  After that Walmart, I went by a couple more Targets, most of which were not terribly picked over, at least in terms of the Black Series and TVC figures.  No Walmart or Target had the larger TVC ships and I bought the Poe X-Wing at Barnes and Noble of all places (which was actually nice as I got my 20% off educator’s discount there ;) ).  Despite the lack of collector traffic and overall limited selection, I was able to find everything I wanted so it was a successful day...  Still, the limited scale of it all surprised me compared to previous “Force Fridays”.

I admittedly like the 5" stuff. Which isn't to say I'll buy them or that I wouldn't Hasbro rather concentrate on something else. But I'm pretty sure they aren't actually sent from hell to destroy Star Wars.

I ordered like 2 things online. I did make it to Target on Saturday for some unrelated purchases and checked the toys. You wouldn't even have known any new product was released - all they had were 2 LEGO sets on an endcap and the new TVC figures in the regular Star Wars aisle. I've seen similar photos of Walmarts, still with 0 toy section allocation to Star Wars, which is how mine have looked for months.
